My Tab fell... - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I pushed it off my bed and it fell 1 foot. 1FOOT. and now everything is lagging for some reason. Even after a factory reset on CM10.1 and downloads are about half the speed now. I am extremely pissed now and I don't think I'm going to buy a Samsung tablet anymore in the future. Any reasons for the lag? Could it be related to my internal memory only having 6GB left? I have a 16GB model.

Bump, this is extremely pissing me off! The factory reset not working probably means it goes deeper than that. I don't care if I have to reset EVERYTHING, this lag is really making me want to smash the tablet against the wall.

Try reflashing the stock rom, wiping everything... maybe there's an internal hardware problem.

Random restarts.

I get 1-2 reboots a day. A couple lock ups happen too. Anyone else? Is it normal?

It's definitely not normal. Try wiping fresh and installing only necessary apps then test again. If the issue persists trade it in for a new Infuse.

My wife and I both get it on our two new Infuses. Mine pretty much happens when I am browsing... It will lock up vibrate a few times and basically reboot... Pretty frustrating... And I don't think wiping it clean will help since this happen on both of our phones

Hmm...interesting....
Are you all rooted? Changed any apps? Made any tweaks or all stock?
I've had my Infuse for a week now and it's been great....no reboots of any kind. No real bugs to complain about, though I have noticed it can lag quite a bit when looking at mms'.

The vibrating is force closing. sounds like an app to me. did you and your wife both in stall the same apps? try factory rest on just one to test. BEWARE. take your external SD out. the facotry reset, wipes that too.

Ergh... no....
It was exactly word for word:
ROM Pre-Installation:
Wipe Data and Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
So you put a check mark to tell it to do so.... Been flash roms almost a year now since the captivate.... I would think to do how to do that

Problem with restarts had been referred to SD cards. It is not always relevant, as such behaviour used to happen even on card-free phones. My problems started just after update to Mango, what made phone practically unusable.
I tried and seems succesfully solved problem in following way:
- connect phone to Zune
- click on phone, then settings
- choose RESERVED SPACE position
- change with slider from default 1% to 20%
- apply, disconnect
My phone, with Micro SD, stopped crazy behaviour, f.ex. during making photo, using apps. So far so good.
So maybe, either Samsung or MS had screwed up default settings of phone and use of ROM/RAM upon processes.
Solution can be applicable to Focus S and Omnia 7 too.
Good luck!

[Q] Freezes up

my phone freezes up multiple times a day and i have to take out the battery in order to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem?
What are you running
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I have not experienced that. A bit of information might help others to possibly help you, though. Can you tell us what ROM you're using, if the problem started recently, if it started after you installed a certain app, if you're over clocking or under clocking, and if you've tried to do a factory data reset?
Im running stock. The last time i tried to install a rom i ended up with the picture in the attachment. So i took it to the local T-Mobile kiosk and they replaced it for me. i re-rooted it but didnt rom it at all. And its been like this since i got the replacement phone. never had the problem before. (this was a week ago)
Pretty picture. Kidding, of course. Reminds me of messing with interlaced graphics on my old Amiga.
If it's been doing it since you got it chances are it's probably a hardware issue. I've not heard of rooting causing issues like that. Did you install any apps after you got it, specifically anything that runs/syncs in the background?
Nothing i didnt have on before. umm.. Go SMS and Launcher, Widget Locker...
I'd go the factory data reset route & not install any apps for a day or so and see how it runs. If all is OK, start reinstalling your apps 1 x 1, give each app a day to see if the problem starts up.
If you do a factory data reset and it's still doing it, then it's probably faulty hardware.
Yeah try a factory reset and see how that does. The rainbow screen looks like a gingerbread rom without the correct bootloaders.

So that's the mysterious rainbow screen I keep reading about. Thanks, because I had no idea what it looked like (thank goodness). The bottom part reminds me of Poltergeist "Don't go into the light..."
Is this new phone they gave you refurbished?
I used to have that problem all the time when i was stock... New ROM and it went bye bye...
Hah that picture you got there reminds me of when i stupidly flashed a gb kernel on froyo... still fixed it and matter of factly I'm using the same device right now were all newbs at some point, don't let it discourage you, just take it as a lesson learned and be more careful next time

Anybody know how to prevent phone reboot?

So I have Nexus S and this doesn't happen a lot but about every month or so my phone just reboots itself. I know why this happens, but I wanna know If I can prevent it...
I know this sounds stupid but I am hoping that I can prevent it... I'm not rooted or anything so I can't do anything that has anything with rooting.
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
More often then not it has to do with some sort of memory leak, and your ram bleeds out so the phone reboots. Can be caused by almost anything, system apps, user apps etc. Also, how long is your uptime on your phone? The longer its on typically the lower the available resources.
Follow the leader @corythug
Um not mor than like 2 weeks... Also when my Nexus S booted up, it randomly rebooted itself again which was kinda weird... Any suggestions?

I suggest you to wipe everything in CWM and reflash the stock rom.

Leave it alone. You're much better than anyone else here who has this happening almost every day LOL
I suggest rebooting every week or so just for the sake of preventing it. But no matter what you do you'll get a reboot eventually. Maybe get an app that forces a reboot at night everyday. But seriously if you have an up time of 2 weeks than that's very good
i generally try to reboot manually once daily, it keeps the phone speedy and gremlin free
Thanks everyone! I was worried that I have to wipe my phone! I'm glad that there's nothing wrong with my phone!

Its definitely not a problem with your phone! I would suggest actually rebooting everyday or week rather then preventing them though.

App storage space is off after ICS?

I've installed the stock 4.0.3 incremental on my i9023 when it came out in December.
Now, the thing is, when I go into Settings->Storage it says I have 300mb of app space left (internal memory, not sdcard). If I go into Manage apps, it shows the same thing, but if I wait a bit (~5-10 seconds), it suddenly tells me I have 480 mb left.
Now my question is which one is right? Anyone else ran into this?
I'm thinking that some services might not take into consideration the fact that some apps are actually on the sdcard, but that seems stupid to me, and possibly wrong.
Yes, it happens to me too. It fluctuates between 300mb for me within seconds. Weird.

Okay, it stopped for me after I did a hard reset. Now the phone flies at all tasks. No noticeable lag, no more launcher restarting after using an app. No more 0.00 ram. I'm glad I did a hard reset.
Full disclosure: I unlocked the boot loader and rooted. Also installed wallet. Everything else was restored from Google servers.

Ram issue

For some reason I'm having a ram issue its always saying I have 3-4mb left when I only have a little over half used, why would it do that, and what can I do to fix it, I have cleared the cache and dalvik and it helps for a little bit but then goes back to where it is now, I can't even play games because it freezes really bad

Our phone only has 512mb RAM total, playing games can tend to be a little tricky at times. I use this RAM booster app, has a nice task killer that runs on the nav bar.. just search the play store for RAM booster.
I am doing that but look at the pic....tell me if that makes any sense.....

No, it doesn't make any sense... Seems to me that you must have a bad app that is causing a memory leak. I'm not that familiar with the Infuse 4G yet, but I have seen enough applications on computers with memory leaks to know that looks like an indication of what you have.
Maybe a Task Manager program would tell you which app is causing a memory leak, or you can do it the old school way as qkster recommended.

Take that a step further and clear off all your apps, adding them back one by one until you find the one that makes your memory drain so badly.
FWIW, my thoughts. Good luck.
It looks like it was facebook...I deleted it and had no issues, but seeing as the phone is now lost in the ocean, I see no point anymore lol, I switched back to my note 2, not a fan of the s4, dropped it on carpet and the screen cracked, that's bs Samsung isn't making study phones anymore I guess lol, although they do have the s4 active....but it looks lame
