[Q] Is ROM same as internal memory? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On every device page in XDA, where the phone specs are written, the internal memory is given as 8/16/32 GB "ROM" I found this confusing as ROM means Read Only Memory. But obviously, we read AND write to the internal memory with high speed unlike traditional ROM. Why is this?

how do i REPARTITION Internal Memory ???

Hi all. I saw some great chances to repartition the Memory on some Android Tablets that use Internal Removeable microSD cards for their OS.
However, can it be done on a normal Tablet?
I Mean...
I'm getting a 7 inch Marvell10 (Marvel 800mhz) Android 2.2
256MB Ram and 2GB Internal Storage.
I WANT to resize the memory partitions so the APP section & Cache gets most of anything the system doesn't need.
IS THIS POSSIBLE? you can't remove the OS memory card in this.
If anyone knows how can you point me to a tutorial or pm the instructions?
I'd also need to know how to see what my sizes already are (and what space the system needs to remain).
MANY THANKS ! x7

Rom Installation location

Im fairly certain that the default rom files for Sense 3.0 are stored on the phones internal storage but where do external and aftermarket roms get installed, it would seem to be that its installing on the sd cards am i wrong ?? if so what kind of performance differences would there be compared to it being on the onboard memory and is there anyway to install it directly to the onboard itself.
Aftermarket is stored on internal. Where did you get idea it was stored somewhere else?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
Yea i just removed sd card and clicked haha, just was interested as my internal stated it wasn't being used.. Is the 1gb not allocated to the OS files is the OS storage seperate etc ??
OS has its own partition, apps have their own 1.1GB partition

[Q] more internal memory?

how to increase the p500's internal memory?
I am facing a problem with an app, that it refuses to download the data package, saying that there isn't enough internal memory(it says it need around 270mb)(it's a game ), so I am wondering how to increase the internal memory. I know there are apps like link2sd, but I think that don't suit me because the app would just still detect "insufficient" internal memory.
how to increase the internal memory and also let apps detects enough memory?(I guess I need to mount the whole data partition from the ext-sd? just a guess, I don't know...)

Click to collapse
`are you sure you linked the sd-ext properly? cos once it is, it should act as the usable internal memory of the phone.
try increasing the sd-ext size, say 1 gb, that should leave enough space for the game n all the other apps you wanna install. also, some ROMs are not compatible with ext2 partitons. try repartitioning to ext3 or just convert ext2 into ext3 using recovery.
follow these links if you have any doubts.

Repartition internal storage

I was surprised by the fact that many of the roms that I tried out yet, only take about 500MB of system storage. But then I noticed that this doesn't do anything for me because of the system partition that is made for the gigantic 1.5 GB stock rom.
Having 1GB of free space that I can't use bothers me a lot. So I thought about repartition the internal storage. Because it would be very nice to have about 800-900MB more of usable disk space on internal storage (sdcard0). I already did a short google research but all of the instructions I found relate to the Galaxy S2. And there you can only choose between fixed partition sizes.
Has anyone already tried to repartition the storage of the Galaxy S2 Plus? Or firstly has an idea for that issue?

internal memory fix

Hello everyone so i have this phone Qilive Tablet Q4 Android |7 and as it says on the webpage the phone has "8 GB built-in memory" but that's not really true because when i look at internal memory (and i mean storage not ram) i see only 1 GB and my question here is what can i do to increase from 1GB to like 4GB or maybe more and i read somewhere that with a custom rom i can fix this but i don't know how to create a custom rom so if anyone wants to create a custom rom for me and maybe for more people out there with the same problem i can give some more info (rom, build, etc).
Thanks in advance.
