Just got this phone, really cheap quad core (MTK 6589) 5.5" android phone but pretty decent quality.
Here's some tools I've collected for whoever else gets this phone:
Recovery
CWM 6.0.3.0
Root Script
ADB script to root this device
Partition
This will repartition/shrink the internal SD so that the data partition is about 2.5gig, if you wish to disable the remaining internal SD and use external SD only you can flash the enable/disable internal SD zip files.
SP Flash Tools
Use this to flash the Recovery and Partition files. Just point the program to the scatter file and click download. You'll need the MTK drivers located if you haven't, then once you have clicked download just plug your device in without battery and it will flash it.
Factory Rom
If something goes wrong you can use SP Flash Tools to flash the factory rom here:
http://www.needrom.com/mobile/feiteng-h7189-2/
Download:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z9a99r56llx8zs5/Gj2-LNcuhx
Thanks for sharing it ! :good:
But how to use the repartition?
What should i do after browse the scatter file?

Hey replace the files you flash with the partition ones then flash it. Click download once you've chosen scatter file. You'll need to put your phone in factory mode, I just took the battery out, held volume up and plugged it in.
Double trouble

Remove a battery and flash stock with sp flashtool.
1. load scatter from firmware folder
2. press download
3. plug phone without battery
You need to install drivers first I got flash and driver here (http://yadi.sk/d/J267LoVxBGQS8) and firmware http://yadi.sk/d/xonGmdhNB2Axr
after I flash partition from head post - works perfectly
I dont know where i fail but after having installed the drivers and started Flashtool nothing happens. I tried both hitting F9 and press the F9 and The regular upgrade button. Still no go. It seems idle and I have zero clue what wrong I'm doing... help appreciated...

Hello,
I have seen 1 thread that might help me under address:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
So basically I own Huawei ideos u8500 and wanted to flash it, but instead of editing flashbooting I clicked it. After this my phone does not boot past flash screen, what changed is that I get a notepad-font Android inscription between Huawei logo and Android, so the later just loads and loads again.
I'm noob with updating software, rooting or whatever. When I went into flash mode, I installed drivers for windows xp but the drive didnt appear there. I tried factory reset, didnt work, maybe rom update would work? I dont have clockwork recovery mod installed.
Any ideas how to get this done? Maybe some other way to reset stuff would help?
Thank you all for reading it

Hey,
I also got problems with PC... so I think I opened flashbooting.bat without flashing mode as my PC doesnt work...and my phone is screwed.
In flashing mode theres no new device, but when I open it normally and put usb I can see 2 disks (1 SD and 2nd Phone).
So basically I could install a new ROM, although I have no idea how. I need to put Clockwork mod to root file... But which disk?
Instruction: how I doing it.
for new users like me who wants to update or reflash half-bricked U8500.
first, boot ur phone to fastboot mode (vol up+red tube+power) - it looks like forever loading with huawei logo.
download drivers for U8500 and install
download CWM fastboot for U8500
connect phone to pc, wait for drivers installing, then unzip cwm and double-click install.bat file from admin.
now you should have CWM.
boot to recovery CWM (vol up+green tube+power)
then go to mount ----> mount USB with volume keys and OK button or with joystick
now your phone connected as USB flash device, put any ROM that supposed to go for U8500 (for example Cyanogen mod 7 or even stock rom) in zip archive to root of SD card, click to unmount USB, go back to top and click install update from zip file and choose your zipped ROM located on SD card. after completing click wipe cache and wipe data then reboot device.
Hi
I rooted My a110 with CWM recovery and SP flash tools And changed few things like added Malayalam language & added 4.2 JB camera
And The Problem Is I tried to Do a factory Reset by setting menu but it showing resetting repeatly and power offing and it boots automatically and again it showing resetting then power off like that it didn't stopping.
Is My phone Is bricked.Bricked phone means it will not boot isn't it?
How To Solve This Error Please Help
Solved
There r 2 options u can choose:
i)flash ur phone stock firmware through sp flash tool if it doesnt boot at all
ii)flash any custom rom, if u have installed cwm and u can enter cwm after the brick
Lesson to be learned-never flash multiple files together in cwm
and if u do so then always clear cache and dalvik cache and go according to flash instructions provided

how about i take this phone to service center will they find that it is rooted and charge me for repairing.
It also occurred to me. It is nothing related to mods . It occurs if u try to reset your phone from settings with CWM installed. The correct method is
1) load the scatter
2)select firmware>upgrade
3) when it shows searching then connect the phone in switched off state
u were doing the other way round
If still not successful
1)select download
2)when it shows searching connect the phone with the battery removed.

I have gone through this many times.
Do it like i tell u.
Open the sp flash tool folder. Dont run it.
Now right click the sp flash tool software and select run as.
Then select run as adminstrator.
Now load the scatter file.
If u have cwm installed then uncheck the recovery option so as to keep cwm.
Now power off ur phone remove the battery.
Connect it to the computer using usb cable but dont put the battery.
Now if u have installed the drivers for A110 correctly by downloading from official mmx site then nothing will happen.
But if haven't installed adb drivers yet then do so and also install drivers using pdanet software(google it just a 3-4mb file).
Now if all is ready as above then connect ur phone without battery then click download then when it says searching , put ur battery .
Now it will detect ur phone anyhow(impossible to fail becoz tested and done by me everytime)
the download will start and stock firmware will be installed.
Wait for it to be over
put ur battery out of phone then put it in again. Now power on ur mobile.
If u have cwm installed then flash custom roms directly through them becoz each and every custom rom is rooted. So u dont need to root the stock firmware and softbrick ur mobile again.
Now if i helped u then pls hit thanks button and dont fear about these bricks. My A110 has gone through them 100 times and still i flash it.
Anyway do u even plan on using custom rom for ur device?
Please let me know from comments if u have repaired ur device or not.
And its not needed to take it to MMX service center and pay Rs.200
for flashing the stock firmware which u can do by following above methods
---------- Post added at 12:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 AM ----------
We forgot if he has
i)run the sp flash tool as adminstrator or not becoz if he didnt then the sp flash tool will keep searching for infinity and still not detect ur device.
Ii)installed the adb drivers correctly
see the video on installing vcom drivers for sp flash tool below

Colud you take backup from your sd card and formatted again and put rom and recovery versions you have.and test again

First of all, the phone is not bricked, obviously as long as it has a recovery and will turn on at all. As for a fix, try a seperate-file firmware flash, google "upgrade galaxy fit to 2.3.4", or something like that, also, try flashing a CWM recovery with ODIN, and just flash a CM7 ZIP or any other ROM, it will not be able to mount /system/ beucase the default samsung SYSTEM format is EFS, which CWM can not read, it can only read EXT file systems, soooo, install the recovery and a custom ROM, see what happens
Flash Froyo!
Hey there,I also suffered a lot sue to this ! Ultimately i flashed a froyo rom and everything was back to normal! :good:
@Enymous
Just ask ur friend what he did to the phone!!:sly:
Usb debugging needs to be enabled.
Next thing is:- Stop worrying!! Flash the same firmware version(if u remembered exactly) which came preinstalled from factory. It may b froyo or gingerbread. Download that particular firmware & note that if u were having froyo preinstalled & have downloaded the same exact firmware, then it must be a 4 package firmware(i.e. containing 4 files when u uncompress it). U can use Odin 4.42 & follow this sequence (even if u know) :
*Install Samsung mobile drivers on pc.
*Take out & reinsert battery.
*Press "HOME,POWER,VOLUME-DOWN" buttons together for download mode.
*Launch Odin 4.42 as administrator.
* Connect the phone to pc & wait till u see COM PORT mapping box turned yellow.
* Now set the files from the froyo package that u downloaded in exactly the same sequence as follows:
OPS: BENI_v1.0.ops
BOOT: APBOOT_S5670.....tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_S5670.....tar.md5
PDA: CODE_S5670.....tar.md5
CSC: CSC_S5670.....tar.md5
Press start & wait till u see "PASSED"
Meanwhile ur phone will reboot.
Then it will b back to life(with froyo) guaranteed.
First try these steps!! I know it 100% works. coz I m used to all these issues.
Good Luck!!
Hope this helps...!!
Hello, i think my thl t11 is bricked, i just got it yesterday and looked for rom updates so when i started to do whats here
Step 1: Download the custom ROM copied to an external SD card root directory
Step 2: the shutdown state. While holding down:
– Power button + volume button up, to enter the recovery mode.
– Wipe Data / Factory Reset -> delete all user data
– Wipe Cache Partition -> Wipe cache
– Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
Step 3: Return to recovery main interface Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> Select your ROM
Step 4: Brush complete, restart the phone Patience required – first boot takes a while.
When i used the wipe data /factory reset the phone did restart and when it begin to boot it keeps a black screen indefinitely.
please help me!

Hello to all BLU vivo iv users this thread is for gaining root access after updating your blu vivo iv to 4.4.2 usually it can't be rooted properly u can get root via recovery install method but root explorer and other root apps will not get proper su access but it won't work or will fail constantly to complete system operations meaning u can't edit system at all!!!:crying:
I made an insecure boot.img with more adb access seeing that it does not have much developer options in settings it still wont but this boot img will allow proper root.
first u must install Carliv recovery from here not my work this is for Gionee elife s5.5 but vivo iv is same device so it's safe tested myself :http://elifes55.blogspot.com/2014/07/guidegionee-elife-s55-cwmroot-required.html
use mobile uncle from market and update recovery choose recovery.img first item at top of the list the downloaded recovery img must be in base of internal storage do not place in any folders!!!
after that reboot to recovery vol up + power scroll with vol keys power to select scrool to install zip then scroll down to install from internal sdcard choose "bootimgADB.zip" wait for install to finish wipe dalvik and cache (ps when doing this it takes about a min or two idk why just dont panic and think your phone is stuck)
after that procedure continue to rooting using Vroot / root genius
Vroot: http://vrootdownload.org/
Root genius: http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
download root checker from market to check for root

Thanks a lot for that information. There is not a lot of help aroudn for Vivo iv owners!!!
I have a problem before i reach 4.4.2, as the OTA update will not install correctly.
I have a rooted phone, with recovery installed.
I downloaded the OTA update, installed it, then it booted to recovery and gave the following errors:
CWM automade 10.07.20014 00:34:23
E:Invalid command argument
Finding update package...
E:unknown volume for path [/storage/sdcard0/adupsfota/update.zip]
E:Can’t mount /storage/sdcard0/adupsfota/update.zip
Installation aborted.
Any idea what this means? I tried unrooting my phone, and installing the OTA update again, but it gave the same error. I have emailed Blu, but i'm sure they will be unhelpful. I've tried googlin, and other people (with different devices) with similar errors from OTA updates say you cannot install the update.zip directly from recovery otherwise it gives:
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device" == "**********" || "ro.build.product" == "*************"
E:Error in /sdcard/downloaded_rom/***********.zip
...errors. Which from some peoples replies also gets their phone stuck on bootloop, so I don't want to try that.
Any ideas how to get this OTA kitkat update installed? Did yours update normally (with.without root/recovery)?
Thanks in advance

did u try choose zip from internal then update.zip but still try to get the update.zip for me
yes it would install with root but not custom recovery i kept my stock recovery cuz i knew blu would be releasing KITKAT btw amigo OS ruined KITKAT its like if it didn't update at all
hmm u have the answer at the start custom recovery may not install an official rom update though i may be wrong but if u can get the update.zip where it downloaded on your storage i can poke around and design it to flash via custom recovery
please in future do NOT!!!! install custom recovery before official update it gives probs
since u have the recovery there is an miui rom u can try to install from gionee elife s5.5 make sure u backup though its based on 4.2.2
thanks very much! I will upload the update.zip. I really only need kitkat for an app I am trying to use (which only works on 4.3 and newer) so the MIUI rom won't be of use to me.
If you could have a poke around and create a custom recovery that will boot it, that would be amazing, I will upload the update.zip now. I would forever be in your gratitude.
Also is there a way of removing custom recovery from the phone?
---------- Post added at 09:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ----------
P.S. yes I also tried to install from zip using the custom recovery, but it said it couldn't mount /sdcard0 or /system or anything when I tried. I think the best option is for me to find a method of removing my custom recovery?

Just downloading now.
I was using the drivers that windows installs 'from the phone' when you plug it into windows. Those drivers worked fine... I then started messing around with downloaded drivers (probably all the same ones you have tried) and all of them just did the same thing or didn't work.
FYI, MTK Tools no longer detects my phone. It only detected it when it was booted (in CWM for me, I never tried it when it was actually working, in the OS). My phone only gets detected in 'device manager' and 'SP flashtool' sometimes.
I can upload all the drivers I tried downloading, but I think the more drivers you install, the more incompatibility there is... In the end I downloaded USBDeview and uninstalled all the 'phone' related drivers on my computer, then just used the drivers that automatically get installed when you plug your phone in.
I'm just researching how to flash this system.img file you have uploaded (thanks), using SP Tools. If you've done it before could you let me know how? I don't want to mess anything else up now.
Thanks.
I managed to install Gionee Elife s5.5 ROM using SP Flashtool easily, and my phone now works!! Well, sort of.
The screen keeps freezing, touch screen keeps now working (have to press sleep button, to refresh it).
I am hoping the OTA update will fix all these problems! Fingers crossed...
I really want to get the Blu Vivo iv firmware though, as there are loads of chinese characters on this phone, even with English language on.
If anyone could backup their phone using MTK tools, and upload the entire backup for me and everyone else that needs it, that would be great! Then anyone who bricks their phone could unbrick it by flashing the firmware useing SP Flashtool!
Thanks for eveyrone's help especially taalibj01!!!! You are a legend!
Don't know how it's possible but here it is Blu Firmware files!!!!!

If you have bricked your Blu Vivo iv, or installed a custom recovery therefore could not upate OTA to KitKat 4.4.2, look here!
So everyone who needs to flash the new KitKat firmware from Blu follow these instructions!
Download the following file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qt0i6d2og8ge0sc/BLU_D970l_V11_GENERICK_T8493.zip?dl=0
(Supplied by the amazing 'taalibj01')
If you have not previously installed the MTK drivers (usually installs from the phone when you plug it into the computer) please download and install from here:

Also download/extract SP Flash tool from here (latest version): http://androidxda.com/smart-phone-flash-tool
Before you start, when you connect your 'powered off' phone via USB cable whilst holding the up button, your phone should be recognised in 'device manager' as 'MTK COM USB (COM4)' or something similar, under the 'Ports (COM & LPT)' section. If it is not, then you need to install the relevant drivers (above).
Now you are ready to get started.
Turn off your Vivo iv phone and disconnect it from USB.
Unzip the BLU_D970l_V11_GENERICK_T8493.zip file to any location.
Open SP Flash Tool, and click the 'scatter-loading' button.
Navigate to the unzipped BLU_D970l_V11_GENERICK_T8493 firmware folder.
Double click the MT6592_Android_scatter.txt file
SP Flash Tool will then list all of the files it has read form the scatter file and automatically 'tick/check' each of the 'preloader/MBR/EBR1/UBOOT/BOTIMG etc... files.
Most guides will tell you to press the select 'Download' from the drop down menu, but I kept getting an error message, but if you highlight 'Firmware Upgrade' from the drop down box, you should be fine.
Click the 'Download' green button.
Now plug your phone in whilst holding 'volume up' button.
SP Tools should recognise the phone, and the bar along the bottom should turn RED. The phone will disconnect, then recconnect again after a few seconds, and the bar will turn Yellow and it will say 'Formatting', then it will Flash the files to your phone which should take 30 seconds or so.
After it is done, a nice green circle saying DONE will pop up. You can now disconnect your phone, wait a few seconds, then power on using the power button.
All Done!!! KITKAT is now installed on your bricked phone!
Enjoy!

I just got the phone a few days ago, and it had KitKat 4.4.2 already installed from the factory. What do I need to do? Thanks!
Well I solved the problem. I downloaded Kingo Root and it successfully rooted my phone! I ran Mobile Uncle to verify, and it confirmed my root status.
My question now is, should I install the Carliv recovery, and flash bootimgADB.zip? Or, am I good to go now? I have SuperSU v2.02 installed. Thanks!

So, I went ahead and tried to install the recovery.img using Mobile Uncle. It ran for a second, then a pop-up asked to reboot into recovery mode. I hit ok, but it rebooted into the orange and grey stock android system recovery.
So, I figured I would try to install the bootimgADB.zip from SD card, but it just comes back with installation aborted.
Any thoughts?
