So I've searched around, upgraded Kernel/ROM with Bionix/Dragon, downgraded to try the LG flashtool and just about every other method I came across in my last 2 days of searching this site (which has been great fun, don't get me wrong!)
Anyways, My brother had the phone, worked, then stopped working so I thought I'd put the powers of the internet to good use.
The phone won't register a IMEI when you dial or through the LG Tool.
It has no connection to T Mobile (tried airplane mode, resetting APN ect.)
Shows "unknown baseband"
Shows ? inside the battery symbol
Also, the LG tool/KDZ both fail to update the baseband.
I found the factory firmware BIN(s) but noone has seem to been able to find a way to flash it/them to the G2x.
My brother had taken it to Tmobile and they couldn't figure out what was wrong and had redirected him to a repair shop.
I should also point out that the battery water indicator went red (although still holds plenty of charge) but the phone water indicator is still white.
Thanks for any info I might have missed!
Happened to me with CM7. All I did was update the ROM, which, oddly, fixed all my problems. Try reinstalling, I know it shouldn't affect baseband ect. but it worked for me Report back.
P.S. I'm pretty sure updating the baseband using LG's tools only works on official ROMs.
EDIT: Were you on the official rom?
I believe CM7 was the first ROM I tried. Was very buggy (like it was angry haha)
The LG Tool does only work for official roms, I had reverted everything back (Froyo/recovery) just like from the factory (at least as far as I could tell!)
Being that the only thing I haven't "wiped" is the baseband (only accessible by the LG Tool) I have a hunch the problem is there, but I don't know Android at ALL haha, so im wondering why im not even getting an IMEI number to register anywhere other then when I look on the back of the phone!

Have you tried installing another ROM? IMEI has never registered properly for me, no clue why, but my provider says they're seeing the right number so all is good.
I went from 2.2.2 to 2.3.3 (Froyo?) the to CM7 then to Bionix now back on 2.3.3 (which for some reason keeps refreshing the dashboard randomly)
Still nothing, which is to bad because I really like the phone!
If anyone wants to toss in any ideas, feel free to, I could very well have looked over something simple.
I would keep giving it a try but if worse comes to worse can't you flash a new baseband.
Have you tried fauxs hybrid gb rom?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Haven't tried the Faux rom yet, will do next.
I tried flashing the baseband to the July update but the LG Tool kept erroring out (which I might try again as well since apparently its buggy as hell)
Also try reinstalling the drivers for the phone or try another usb port.
Sometimes the drivers just trip the system

true, I have read that somewhere
Tried CM Nexus Gingerbread 2.3.5 - Faux123
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124522
still no luck, as lovely as they look haha
Have you tried nvflash back to stock I had this problem on my first rooting try that's the way I got mine working again

Have you done anything that was posted in this thread to try and fix it? What happened what exactly caused this to happen for you?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
You need to try the procedure that has a thread dedicted to it for peoples phones that got bricked by the lg tool when they updated to gingerbread it tells you how to nv flash 2.3.3 and you will end up with the samething you have no baseband ect.then follow the dirictions exactly and if you can not get the lg tool to work flash the turn off the modem and flash the kdz he talks about for wind mobile that will put you on froyo 2.2.2 and after that use the lg update tool and it will put you back to gingerbread with everything working if you can not get tools to work try on a diffrent windows xp machine
I have the exact same problem. I downloaded and installed the T-Mobile 2.3.3 stock ROM. I tried to follow the following guide to flash with file: V21E_00.kdz:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
However I keep getting stuck at 4% saying there is a communication error. I have tried to go into download mode / SW upgrade mode but Windows 7 does not detect the phone. I keep getting this error:

Is there anything else I can try?
My H955 is updated to 5.1.1, and I need to go back to 5.0.1 in order to root it, considering I need root to move apps to the external sd card thanks to the terrible amount of space that is available to use on the H955.
I have tried about 3 different methods of flashing kdz files, though not one of them worked. The LG flash tool goes to 9% and then stops, no matter which computer I use. I have the stock firmware, just need to figure out how to flash it.
Can anyone help me?

You probably havent installed the drivers correctly .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
I used this guide to install 5..1.1 and to downgrade to 5.0.1
Uninstall first all drivers and then follow the guide .
Dont flash if the phone is not recognised before correctly
Also use cse flashing
Odd. I've tried reinstalling different versions of the drivers a couple of times, but I'll give it another shot. Thanks.

Also beware cse flashing means all data wiped
I tried it again, and made sure all other drivers were uninstalled, and I restarted the computer before I installed the new drivers. I also restarted the computer after I installed the new drivers. I launched the tool, and tried again with CSE Flash, DIAG and CDMA, exactly as the guide shows. It analyses the connection fine, then at S/W Upgrade it stops at 9% and says that there is a problem with the connection, and to retry.
Just before it reaches 9% I can see on the phone itself, in download mode, that the phone is communicating with the computer, as the text changes, but then it goes back to "User B100". It's the same drivers from the guide that I installed, and the tools from the guide.
I have no idea why it does this. It does the exact same thing on my desktop, which runs Windows 7 32 bit, and my laptop, which runs Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit.

You use the original cable? I have done this guide having windows 10 preview. You are using run as admin while launching tool? In download mode is the phone completely detected in windows?

Yep. Using the original cable and running as admin. Even tried running the first exe as admin, but I can't run the second one as admin (by that I mean right click, run as admin) because it opens automatically.

Give it a last try after uninstalling all drivers and lg software first . then reboot and then follow the guide. I remember i also had your problem at first but after uninstalling all lg. And drivers it worked ok. Also while in download mode check device manager if you spot an error with drivers
Also check your phone if you have disabled or freazed any lg pc suite app .
As a last move. You can also reset to defaults your phone first

In device manager... Under view tab select "show hidden drivers" the ull foraure get em all... Good luck.. I know it sucks bc it such an easy step to do but sometimes it seems impossible and it gets frustrating.. Bt all it is is something between ur phone nd pc.. Keep at it..
Uninstalled drivers again, also removing any unused registry entries, for just in case. And lastly, installing Visual C++ library for just in case. I'll reboot then, and try again. Will keep you all informed.
Exactly the same problem as before, unfortunately. Only now, as with the first time I ran the program, the program's text is all in question marks and not English. It is still failing on 9% though, and then asks for a retry.
Under Portable Devices, it shows my phone name with an exclamation mark. The port shows fine under LGE Mobile USB Serial Port (COM5). I've seen people complain of a similar problem, and that it was the drivers. But I have uninstalled the old drivers, rebooted my laptop, and installed everything fresh. Oh, and the KDZ file was in the directory of the flash tool.
I tried a different USB port, rebooting my phone back into download mode after the tool failed the first time, and plugging back in, and still it crashes on 9%. I even tried a fresh download of the tool, extracted it to my desktop and experienced the same problem.

Reset phone to factory default, again, and reinstalled drivers. again, and connected phone in download mode for the first time. Tried running the tool again, and exactly the same problem. Between 5% and 9%, you can see the phone initiating something, listing the phone model and the version of the firmware, then at 9% it fails and asks me to retry.

I've looked but can't find any tot files for the H955, only kdz.
It might be something to do with the software wanting to connect to the server, as far as I can see in some of the posts in the other threads. I tried editing my hosts file, but that too has not yet yielded any results. This is the 4th day I've been struggling with this. So sick and tired of struggling with it already, but I need to if I ever actually want to use my phone. It works well, it is just the space that's an issue.

It complains about not being able to connect to the server, and that I should retry. It doesn't stay at 9%. I can also see on the phone itself when that happens. The tool connects to the phone, and then stops, and goes back to showing "USER B100" and that is when the tool itself gives me the error and asks to retry. Every time I retry, it does the same thing.
