Hey guys! Could someone please tell me why the signal on my phone gets so crappy when I flash the "extreme hawkish ROM" on my SGH-I317 A&T galaxy note 2. So many people have told me to flash a new modem. Others told me to flash new kernel. Where can I find the latest modem? What is the best kernel for these kinds of issues.
Thank you so much everyone. FYI, I'm so new to the android world (came from the iPhone ) and I friggin love it.

Welcome! Do some research into Radio updates. Stock phones are known for "fluffing" your signal - possible you never had that great of signal in the first place.

Thank you so much. what do you mean by the radio updates? like a ragular radio, or is it something related to signal in phones? and how will they boost up the signal. I always a good signal with other ROMs on, but with this ROM. Thank you again for replying.

Best regards,
I've seen about oversea(europe) thread.
Please refer it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377114
But I've one question.
Does your Skyrocket gps fix time is fast in your vietnam country?
Normally gps lock time is about 5~10 sec.
because, I will purchase skyrocket, but some of phones are using agps surver using
their own country.(for example, T-mobile G2x using T-mobile a-gps server,
So it will cause gps fix laggy)

GPS fix super fast here. If the weather good it make take just a few second. I am trying flash T989 rom to see if anything better.
you're welcome.
I think overseas users make a thread.
Isn't it? hehe
I am very very wodner that compatibility to
AT&T ROM(727) , Rogers ROM(727R), T-mobile ROM(989) all models?
For example, I will use to Odin.
* If I have a i727 ATT Device,
1) flash to i727R ? not bricked?
2) flash to i989 ? not bricked?
If I get a i727 ATT device, I will flash i727 Rogers ROM.
Because AT&T have many pre-load apks. And too many customizing.

hey guys i found references to custom radios around saying that the radio in a device is what connects to the tower. i knew that but what exactly does a custom radio do? better service? better data? whats up with them like i have a galaxy nexus and i see fd02 and fd12 radios but i have no idea what each radio will do to my phone by installing it?
Updating radio firmware only affects mobile data and mobile network signal. There is no 'best' radio firmware. It depends on your phone and the area you are in. Try a couple of the latest and see if you get an improvement in signal. Hope that helps

I'm not sure bro I'm only experienced with galaxy s2. I'm sure the guys in the nexus forums can help you out. Or install from manager from app market it has a selection for you to choose from, there are also user comments on how good the radio is so you can get an idea. Usually the latest editions are the best

Hey Everyone,
I am just trying to learn the in's and out's of flashing custom rom's on android phones. I have been doing some reading and some people state
As long as the custom rom has been developed for your phone, you can flash the firmware, then flash the baseband version for your phone, maybe plugin a few APN settings and you should be good to go.
I am wondering if there is some truth to this? Just because it sounds too good to be true.
Thanks!

Great! Thanks very much. My next goal is to see what the difference between the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830D and the GT-S5830.
Good ol' google has litterly, no information. any result for the GT-S5830D brings up info for the GT-S5830 which makes me think they are similar? and the firmwares should work?
I know for sure that the GT-S5830i is quite different. its clearly stated.
Wondering if anyone knows about the mystery "D"?

Well i decided to take a risk and flash a ROM that says its for a GT-S5830 on the GT-5830D and it worked perfectly. No issues. I ended up flashing The Myth rom.
Im a S4 and now a S5 user and this Verizion I535 S3 is looking scary. Two years ago I got the phone, unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery, and installed CleanROM Seven. It has 4.1.2 Android Version with MF1 Baseband. With so many threads on updating to 4.3 and 4.4 is very bad with this version of phone, what options do I have? It's GPS is all mest up and hope to improve some battery by putting a new updated ROM on it. Can somebody point me in the right direction and show me some good options with links?

As far as roms you have many choices. Have you tried tightening the screws on the back of the phone? I've read people have had luck with that. I'd stay with the unlocked bootloader

Currently I flashed the latest TWRP and found a old Synergy Rom that's dated April 2013 that runs 4.1.2 and is MF1 based, other then that ROM can't find anything else that I believe would flash correctly. After installing the ROM, GPS was not fixed, and came across the "tightening of screws trick" As everybody has posted, it worked! Nevertheless, on day one got a random reboot and a forceclose on the camera. Still looking for ROM choices that I could use.

Glad to hear the screw option worked. You can always go with a rom that's not 4.1.2 based. There are plenty of custom roms out there for the S3

I'd like some advice please on what to do next. I rooted then flashed my Samsung S4 with a new ROM named Imperium v16.1. Everything is fine except the classic issue of having little to no data connectivity. Wireless is fine and when people try to ring me it's fine. I try to ring out though I have to go into and exit airplane mode.
This is the first time I've flashing an android handset so I definitely put myself in the n00b category.
I'm at the stage that I just don't care what ROM I have I just need data connectivity to work again. Yes I was probably stupid it try it but you know what it's like. We all want to experiment!
I guess I have two questions. If I install another ROM will I just have the same problem? Also, from my research, I get the impression that the problem is that my handset's modem drivers/baseband(?) don't match the ROM. Is that accurate/likely?
Any advice or simple background into what's going on would be grand!!
Thanks community!

Your stock firmware was the outdated Jellybean 4.2.2. Flash latest stock firmware from HERE and you'll be able to use newer custom roms. And free user can cload with 300kb/s, don't be scared by the 15kb/s.
Thank you. I've got the download.. I'll give it a go this evening after work.
(wow the copy of Odin I picked up is full of bloatware.. Wonder if the source I got it from was a bit dodge)
That has worked beautifully! Thank you very much.
Gosh, I had forgotten how bloaty and boring the stock ROM is.
