when i have my sim card in my phone i get a lock screen needing the puk code is there a code i can enter it to get rid of it i dont know what my code is and then would i have to go into verizon would i need my phone unrooted before going in for a new sim?
You can just call Verizon and ask them for the PUK code as PUK is related to the Sim!
Well figured it out ended up getting a new sim thought how much trouble that took to get

You can log into your MyVerizon account online and it's listed in there once you click on the corresponding phone and line(phone #).

I'm new and searching the net to try to figure out how to crack the PUK code on a AT&T tilt phone that my friend that just passed away and his parents gave me. They didn't know his PUK code and neither did I. Is there a way to crack it or get around it ? Any help is much appreciated. I hope this is the right section of the forum for this topic if not I do apologize.
Uh... why not call AT&T. That is who you would have to get it from its linked to that sim card. Or use your own Sim card. Usually this is needed when someone has stolen a phone and puts the wrong PIN number in incorrectly too many times. Eventually it will permanently disable the sim card.
ive tried all methods on unlockin my tilt but none seem to work. i dont even get a pop up asking me to enter unlock code??? it just says sim card missing.. please help

If you've had your AT&T account for a while, just call up their service center and ask them for the unlock code, and possibly mention you may need it for travelling abroad. That's what I did, and they just gave me the code, no questions asked! To get the pop-up requesting the unlock code, you need to insert the SIM of another carrier - SPRINT / T-MOBILE etc, and reboot the phone... Good luck!
ive done that.. ive never been with att... i just bought the phone off ebay..
lol... well if you bought the phone off ebay, att customer service should give you the unlock code no fuss at all.
ok but i still cant get into where i put the unlock code.. it says my sim card is missing.. i did it with different t-mobile sim cards also.
Try and get a hold of an AT&T SIM card from a friend's phone and validate that the phone at least works with it. BTW.. did you perchance get this phone from a guy named Charlie in California? I happened to see an AT&T Tilt for sale on Craigslist last week, and he said the SIM card connector wasn't working... maybe he sold it on eBay? ...just a wild thought...
run the program simlock.exe which is in the windows directory, and you can enter your unlock code. Even then......it seems like you phone is still not reading your sim card. my suggestion.......put a piece of paper behind the sim card......see if that helps.
i'm assuming u tried the unlocking program already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039
cus it worked for me, and i'm on t-mobile as well...
you were right.. i put a piece of paper behind it and it read the sim
If it says Sim card is missing, then the phone is not reading the SIM card.
You would get a SIM card Invalid or it will ask for unlock code if the phone is still locked.
Try cutting a piece of paper, size of the sim, fold it, then put it on top of the sim. Put the sim card in with the paper on top. Some Tmo SIMs are quite thin, so they wont read.
My coworker had this issue with their tilt. It was fixed by just doing the above.
edit:
nvm. i guess im a minute too late..
hi, newb here, having trouble unlocking my att skyrocket. i have followed the instructions to what i think is the "t" as they are very simple, but no luck. the only way i ever see "perso init is successful" is if after going back to network lock for one minute i go back again and hit #4 networck lock again "perso_nv_init is successful" comes up, but still locked. my model is a att samsung sgh-i727. android 4.0.3 baseband i727ucld2. kernel ver. 3.0.8-perf-i727ucld2-cl363164 [email protected] #1. build # iml74k.ucld2. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
I'd just buy an unlock code. If you try the free unlock too many times it'll permanently not allow you to unlock even if you buy a code. The unlock codes are not that expensive.
Ps, you can probably get the code for free from your carrier. This phone has been out for a long time.

It is very true! If you attempt to unlock too many times then it will permanently be locked unless you send it in for JTAG reprogramming or to Samsung and pay the repair charge, but this is if you tried to unlock via just entering random codes.
In order to get to where you need to enter the code, you have to insert a SIM that is not with the carrier it is locked to, it will then prompt you for the code to unlock.

i have never seen or been asked for a sim code, when my tmo sim is in i get "mm6 error" or "not registered to network". if i type in something like *#7465#(i know thats not the # i just cant remember it right now)to get lock info, it all comes back as off. can mm6 error be for something else?
Sim Card
When I unlocked mine, you are supposed to put in a different SIM when you unlock your phone. Not the same one you use daily. Probably why it isn't working right...

Waht? Sounds like superstition tbh.
I had my daily sim when I unlocked mine at cellunlocker.net/samsung-unlock.php and all went fine.
OP: Try another sim.
I went through the att process of getting the unlock code. I have the code and I want to enter it to unlock my device however I don't have another carriers sim card to put it. Is it possible to manually bring up the unlock prompt?
For anyone else that is looking for an answer I just went to bestbuy and bought a simple mobile nano sim for $1 and threw it in and it worked and brought up the unlock menu.
Here's the one I bought: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/simple-mobile-bring-your-own-phone-sim-card-kit/5470301.p?skuId=5470301

Guyd thanks for the code
I want to thank guyd very much for the unlock code for the unlock code. It works!
Put it in. Brought up a screen that said enter unlock code or something if that nature. I put the code in. It said it was now unlocked.
If you only knew what I have been through since Feb. 18 you would know how much this code ment.
THANK YOU!

I tried it on My S8+ but it did not work,
mine is a SM-G955F
Just used the code to unlock a friend's AT&T S8 when inserting the Verizon SIM wasn't automatically pulling up the unlock screen. Thanks so much!
I like the unlock code for a sansung j1 2016 (j120w)
I am trying to move my existing service to a S7 but not having any luck.
My daughter updated her phone a long time ago and this S7 was sitting around unused. She had purchased used and unlocked but when she was upgrading she deleted her files by doing a factory reboot. Will this take the phone back to being locked to the original carriers network?
Asking because I have been trying to move my SIM card over but it won't accept the PUK code that I got from my service provider.
When I startup with the active SIM card in it all I get is a message asking for the PUK code but doesn't accept the PUK code I have. Could this be the way it asks for the network unlocking code?
Trying to move my service to a Galaxy S7 that was passed on to me from my daughter. Installing SIM prompts for PUK code. Have received 2 different PUK codes from my carrier and neither is accepted!
Daughter had purchased this phone used but was unlocked and it worked fine for her. When she gave it to me she did a factory reboot to clear all of her stuff.
1) If a phone had been unlocked does it return to a locked phone when a factory reboot is done?
2) If the phone has returned to be locked to a carrier and the Sim from an alternate carrier is installed, will it ask for the PUK code but not accept it like this phone is doing?
3) How do I determine which carrier the phone is locked to?
