[Q] Restoring phone to factory settings using ODIN - General Questions and Answers

I flashed a rom using the guidance of the Samsung Galaxy S3 toolkit. Everything went well--until the rom--which is the Ilusion v2.0 [4.2.2], (found in the Sprint Galaxy S3 Android Development section)--got stuck in an endless animation right hefore the phone fully restarted to the home screen.
It's just stuck in this endless animation, like it's perpetually loading.
It's very frustrating. I want to restore the entire thing to its factory setting. Is there anyway to do this using Odin? Maybe when the phone is in Odin Mode?

First before you return to stock I would recommend fully powering the device off and then booting into recovery mode by holding the power button + home button + volume up button until you feel a vibration and see some small blue text in the upper left hand corner of your phone's screen, then continue holding the home button + volume up button until you enter recovery mode. Once in recovery mode select the option's to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and perform a factory reset. After you have done those three things select the "reboot system now" option and the phone should then reboot and power on normally and enter into Android no longer getting stuck on the boot animation. If you do however want to return to complete stock you use Odin to flash the stock firmware for your phone which can be downloaded from here I would reccomend checking outthis video on how to re-flash the stock firmware for the Sprint Galaxy S3.

Nexus S 4G Bootloop

I do not know where to post this besides here. I have a SPRINT Nexus S 4G phone with stock Ice Cream Sandwhich. Never rooted or touched bootloader or anything of that sort.
After updating to ICS via OTA.. the phone loves to randomly reboot itself whenever it feels like. Annoying but I could live with it. Anyways I take my phone out of my pocket today and it is turned off... annoyed I turn it back on.. google logo.. animated squares... and then stuck at squares...(Bootloader shows locked etc, recovery does nothing)(I have to pull battery to reboot phone... back to squares though) I understand I will lose data if I have to wipe the phone.. but it looks like I am not going to be able to back up any of my phone numbers.. precious pictures or music? I do not have insurance through Sprint.
Whats the next logical step to fixing this?
EDIT: Bootloader information
Product Name - Herring
HW VERSION - REV 34
BOOTLOADER VERSION - D720SPAKE1
BASEBAND VERSION - D720SPALC1
CARRIER INFO - SPA
SERIAL NUMBER - 33324E0247AF00EC
LOCK STATE - LOCKED
EDIT 2: Downloaded all of the files needed to reflash / stock ICS.. I already use PDANET so I don't need phone drivers.. my phone was in debug mode before it crashed. Plug it in.. get to the Triangle information icon..
"fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img"
< waiting for device >
Ideas? Or how do I properly do this by myself? One Click Stock cannot detect my phone
Ok follow this steps
1. Turn off your phone
2. Press and hold volume down and power button at the same time.
3. Youll see an android logo. Now tick your volume down to navigate to recovery select by pressing power button
4 in recovery use volume rockers also to navigate through options and power button also to select.
5. Now select wipe cache. I think stock recovery have wipe dalvik too. So wipe it too.
6. Reboot
If if your phone happens to reboot itself again after doing this steps. Repeat my procedure this time wipe your data you can select this also on stock recovery.and start from scratch. Dont worry your pictures , musics, videos and other stuffs on your sdcard will not be touch. It will just clear all your installed apps.

Ok. I have had the same problem on my Google Nexus S with the boot loop and also the random reboots. This is what I have done to fix this problem.
1. I download an automatic task killer and set it to like every 10 - 20min to clear running apps.
OR
2. Go to your recovery by going into fastboot mode going select recovery. Once in recovery, press the volume down. I hold both up and down and the power button together. You should come up with a menu that says reboot system now, apply update from sd card, wip data factory reset or wipe cache partition. Then navigate to the wipe data menu and select it. Hit yes and there you go. It worked for me. Reply and tell me if it worked for you. FYI, it should reboot by it self, if not just select reboot now and reboot it.

HELP! "Recovery Booting...." not working

Product Name: SM-G930A (Galaxy S7)
Carrier: AT&T
I am unable to get into recovery mode to wipe the cache and do a factory reset.
By pressing the key combination (Home + VolUp + Power), I am able to trigger the message "Recovery Boot....", however right after that instead of going into Recovery Mode it immediately restarts back to the splash screen and loops.
(Buttons do not appear to be stuck)
I can get into download mode. I have tried using Odin to reflash the rom using the rom I used before. However, this doesn't change the experience I described above. I have let the phone die out completely and powered on to the same experience. I am unable to remove the battery on the Galaxy S7. The phone is rooted. I did have on Xprivacy and Xposed. I was also working with SetCPU and other apps to improve the speed the night before. I was under the impression though that I can always wipe the whole thing clean and start again.
Please help me out of this loop.

Galaxy S7 Stuck on Download Mode.

My phone is Galaxy S7 SM-G930F on stock Rom, bootloader,,,etc. Never flashed or rooted. During a call it froze and rebooted into Download mode.
Since then I am unable to reboot to any mode but Download mode. It exits by pressing power and down or all buttons together but boots only into download mode.
Before that I noticed that the phone was becoming hot during calls and battery life was much shorter.
Any Help with this problem?
Thanks
Try flashing the same ROM to the phone using Odin.
Sounds like you need to reflash the stock rom via Odin, but before you do that last thing to try before going down that route is to boot into recovery and do a wipe/reset. Be aware doing either of the aforementioned options will unfortunately mean loosing all your user data and apps.
I can't tell from your post but it seems that your handset seems to not want to stay off after pressing the power and volume down buttons? If this is the case then do the following to get into recovery -
Press power and volume down untill the phone powers off, then very quickly press and HOLD the "volume up, power and home" buttons to get into recovery before the phone has a chance to reboot. Then you will see the reset option to set the phone back to factory defaults.
If the above doesn't work then your gonna have to download the latest version of the stock rom from sammobile for your country and then follow this little guide on how to flash a stock tom via odin.
You could also try using Reiboot for Android to exit Download mode in one click. You can find it here: https://www.tenorshare.com/products/reiboot-for-android.html

Galaxy tab A 2016 (SM-T585) backlight not working after security update

I just downloaded and installed newest security update (2018-06-**) for my device. After restart screen just went black. When i plug in to charge it, it vibrates, so it is working. Tried force restarting with Power + VolDown, it restarts, but you can only barely make out even the samsung logo when restarting because the backlight does not light up. I tried going into system recovery mode but i just can't see anything... What should i do now?

Find screenshots of stock recovery from devices just like yours, then use that screenshot as a guide when you boot into recovery, look at the screenshot and look at the list of options in stock recovery. You're looking for the "wipe cache partition" option. Starting from the top of the list, count down the list until you get to the factory reset option. Now boot to stock recovery, then press the volume down button the same number of times as what you counted from the screenshot. For example, in the screenshot, if "wipe cache partition" is the third option on the list, just press the volume down button three times, this should put you on the wipe cache partition option, then press power, it should do the wipe. Then try rebooting.
If that doesn't help, use the screenshot again as a guide to use the "factory reset" option" by counting down the list then pressing volume down that many times then press power to do the reset then reboot.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash your stock firmware via PC.

If the word "Samsung" is slowly flashing with LED light then leave it, it will start in around 5 minutes.
If this does not happen then you will need to boot into system recovery and wipe/factory reset, then reboot and wait.
To force reboot to recovery:
1. press and hold ...volume down + home + power until the phone goes off
2. as soon as the screen goes black press and hold volume up + home + power until it reboots to recovery
3. choose wipe/factory reset, then choose reboot and wait.
