I purchased phone on ebay for $149.99. I was supposed to receive the Star N9000 (i9220) but ended up with the ALPS F7100
They both appear to be Galaxy Note look alike but have lower resolution. Physically appears to be built well other than not knowing if it has Gorilla Glass, which I assume it does not.
This phone does not appear to be have T-mobile 3G Bands unlike what is stated in the Star N9000 that multiple people in Amazon state 3g with T-mobile which is contrary to what the box says. The back of the phone for SIM1 says GSM/CDMA but I'm unable to verify actual operating band. Further search on eBay turned up a N7100 that is aesthetically similar.
I have a 3g SIM, but I assume that I am doing something wrong or I am using wrong T-mobile service. i.e. maybe compatible with Straight Talk
This phone can be ROOTED with SuperOneClick, just as I as able to do last night.
Software appears to be very basic Android 4.1.1 without modifications.
Pressing Vol(-) + POWER gets you into some kind of Factory Test Mode
Pressing Vol(+) + POWER Gets you into Android System Recovery so Flashing Rom appears to be possible.

Sent from my VS950 4G using xda app-developers app

making a custom rom
Can I modify a rom from another phone, to work on this phone?
I got the exact same phone... And i agree this is not 4.1.1 as it sas. More like the version of the SDK Android 2.3.3
Does anyone know if it possible to Extract the rom, upgrade it to 4.2 and flash it back?

Its not quite that easy, because of the partition layout, and because its not generic android.
It has manufacturers software, and needs some kernel tweaking.
Jellybean progress
Is there a way to make your own source, from a device... If I can I will attempt to make CyanogenMod for this phone, and maybe aosp.
Otherwise will risk phone using unknown sources... Is there any actual danger in this if its from another phone with same main board.
Also anyone know of a good way to find out everything that's inside this phone...
Or if anyone knows a good dev that might be able give us a hand... I have made a backup, and can send to him...
I have a couple of those phones.
Rooted and pushed CWM recovery and boot.img thru flash tool w/o problems.
But cannot boot into recovery no matter what.
Did anybody manage to use either CWM or TWRP on those phones?

And BORG any progress? I rooted mine with SuperOneClick. That was easy... Haven't had time to try modding it yet...
It's clear the OS on this is not clean. I got some weird stuff. Cannot install on SD-card, i have to unmount to get apps on it.
Sometimes wifi -3g switches fail. And i loose connection. I hope JB can fix it...

Hi
I have recently bought N9770 China Phone Which Has Dual Sim, Dual Core MT6577, Power VR SGX531 GPU, 8 MP Main, 0.3 MP Front, 512 MB ROM.
I've been looking at this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825332 and wanted to ask there but since I have less than 10 post so I can't reply there it seems. So I would like to ask here just for clarification before I proceed to root my phone: Would I be able to just root my phone safely without changing the firmware or ROM or any sort of drivers, as I think that any change to any of it will cause big problems. It has Kernel of Jul 25, and Baseband of Jun 14 (supposedly last updated by seller on Aug 2). The main reason for rooting is to change the DPI, trying to change the CPU governor settings to reduce clock speed when it sleeps to reduce heating, and for various other apps.
Screenshot: http://i48.tinypic.com/2reh64m.png
Also if possible, could you instruct me proper steps for it as to what applications would I need and how to do it safely? Previously I owned X10 Mini Pro on which I successfully did use nAa kernel by nobodyAtall (using FlashTool) + MiniCM7-2.2.1 by nobodyAtall, so I know the usual flashing stuff. But I am been very careful with this less known N9770 so any help would be greatly appreciated and helpful for others.
Thanks in advance

Hi there are no root tools at mo for MTK6577 processor. I am afraid the only way i know to do it is by flashing.its very easy as your only flashing the boot file nothing else it will do nothing except root and it can not really go wrong if you follow the instructions its done in 10 secs,i have used this method and its good and safe..if by any chance things do go wrong but they will not the original boot is in download to flash again
[Q] N9770 Rooting Safely Without ROM Flash
Ok, finally I took the risk of flashing using the guide which was posted by sas007 on his topic, which gave me root rights but eventually lost main and front camera access even on recovery mode. Tried using the orginal boot image which was linked there didn't help me either.
However, I did had whole ROM package for my model beforehand from which I extracted just the boot.img and scatter text file and flashed them instead, returning my phone back to original condition while remaining the root rights still there so this worked for me like a charm! Hopefully this might help for others as well.
I have attached the original boot.img and scatter text file for the model "e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647" and the ROM package filename was "N9770-20120725_e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647.zip" from which I extracted them.
Simply flash as per guide to get the root, then check your cameras if they are working or not. If they don't not then simply rename the boot.img and scatter file to something else so that you can extract and place the new files in there extracted from the attachment and perform the same flashing procedure with those new files and hopefully you will have your phone in original condion + root still existing in there.
Hope it helps
I did manage to root it. so my phone is working but did not have the camera issue.
had to install the drivers on another computer. now anyone know how to edit the desktops on the N9770.
and remove the google search bar on desktop I cant remove it or remove desktops.
[Q] N9770 Rooting Safely Without ROM Flash
Well, I did this on Windows 7 64 bit and I didn't had any driver issues, it installed pretty much perfectly in first attempt when I started flashing, on next attempt it started flashing.
The camera driver issue is related to the scatter text file that you're adding, the scatter file is like a configuration file.
Also, for anyone who got trouble accessing Google Play giving "No Connection" issue, it's because you have to set time and date first.
Thanks, worked perfect for me, using the original post to get root and yours to get back my cameras back
/Michael

Reflash the original boot image only with sp flash tool, load firmware as normal ie select scatter file from original stock firmware and then untick everything except the boot image and flash.

Poor Hardware Decode Display
I have a question for those who using "e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647" firmware (I have this one) or any other firmware. Since the very beginning I have noticed very poor hardware decode quality which includes over brightness (which grays up black colors) and dull colors and not so fluid frame rate. Whatever resolution it is, it does not lag and syncs properly with audio but it just looks kinda stuterry 3gp-ish (well not that bad, but looks like playing LQ 240p video on YouTube). So far I am only playing videos using software decode with help of MX Player upto 720p and this does not show any such problems and the colors are vibrant and brightness tone is just perfect so that means the display driver is okay. However for unavoidable hardware decoding like YouTube I would like to know the solution for this even if it requires certain driver flashing.

You are totally correct a different driver combination selected while flashing firmware using MDT could help, also swapping uboots between the stock firmwares/firmwares also as long as same ie all ICS etc. I have done this so many time with other devices to achive what you said. However it is a risky daunting task to get perfect working combination of drivers and a lot of research Flashing.

Okay, I just tried all the combinations, and for each hardware part (Rear, Front, Display) there's just one driver that worked. The problem still not solved.
The drivers that worked for each are:
Rear: ov5647_raw
Front: hi704_yuv
Display: KD50M13_40NB_A1
I had following combinations for camera: ov5647_raw, ov7675_yuv, hi704_yuv
And following combinations for display: RX_50NT_365A, KD50M13_40NB_A1, truly3p2599, ili9481, RX_50NT_401B, RX_50RM_401A

No its not dumb, the thing with these phones is that everything begins in china forums which takes a little time to travel to the english ones
That being said,
1. you cannot use any firmware without making sure it matches your smartphones hardware cause if you did it might lead to bricking or etc.
2. and the firmware in question wont matter till you have given sufficient hardware info ( mainly radio module, phone model, cpu { mt6577, 6575... } )

Hi i have this phone star n9770 and i search root tool or video tutorial for this phone why root this phone please help
I have managed to get my Sophone V75 to a stage where I have ICS 4.0.3, ClockWorkMOD in English, ROOT privledges and a working Google Play Store aka the Android Market
Here are some toys for people to play with, (I accept no responsibility for bricked devices etc etc...)
You will need to have ADB drivers installed on your PC and your phone with USB Debugging enabled.
1) An ENGLISH version of ClockWorkMOD (CWM) for the Sophone V75 with MTK6575 CPU
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w5pzb2sq3jpa9vt
2) The SP Flash Tool for MTK6575 devices
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wbbd4tqby4p4537
3) The DoomLord tool to Root your Sophone V75 running ICS
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m4xgvut4w5ddh55
4) The HTC ADB VCOM driver
http://www.mediafire.com/?z6f695zx5zr0yqk
5) The firmware I used in combination with SP Flash Tool and the CWM Recovery file
http://www.mediafire.com/?c82xozd1f1i2cy5
And last but not least...
6) A CWM backup of an ICS 4.0.3 ROM for the Sophone V75 with working Google Play Store
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?quo8bxedoqbch7c
The steps I took
1) I factory defaulted the phone
2) Installed the HTC driver
3) Enabled USB debugging on the phone
4) plugged it in
5) I used the DoomLord tool to Root the Phone.
6) Extracted the MP_MT75_h910_v75w_kaiy_ics_aphone+201206....rar firmware file to one directory
7) Extracted the SP Flash Tool to another directory
8) Copied the CWM Recovery file to another directory
9) Started the SP Flash tool and loaded the scatter file (NOT the FORMAT scatter file)
10) Changed the recovery file to the CWM Recovery version
11) Then I used the SP Flash Tool to flash the firmware and CWM Recovery to the phone by clicking download
12) I then installed ROMmanager and used it to boot to recovery
13) Finally I used CWM recovery menu to apply the ROM zip file and reboted into my new ICS phone.
I know this is not a Step by Step with pictures etc. Let me know if it works for you.
My only problem now is that my phone seems to have a radio IMG that is not very good as I am in a fringe reception area.
I would appreciate help in improving my 2G/3G reception, Does anyone have a good radio backup?

I did not have any luck with your link, It came back with file not found.
Did you paste the link in right or am I doing something wrong?
Hi,
First of all. thanks for posting this tutorial, now I have a chance to make my now useless Soponhe V75 (just got it ) to a workable Anrdoird- iPhone replica.
Now my question:
How should I use the SP Flash Tool to flash the CWM Recovery to the phone?
How can I even "upload" the CWM recovery to the program?
I tried to look for some quides for the SP flash tool, and it showed one ought to remove the battery at some point. Isn´t the Sophone battery soldered in?
If you could elaborate the flashing process, I would aprecciate it.
I managed to root the phone though. Now I just want the new IOS and google play to work (without these horrible chinese apps).
Thank you!
This is the correct link
https:
//rapidshare.com/files/2248738...666 - Copy.zip
Hopefully it works.
I have tried to install your recovery file but with no succes. The phone does not go further after apple logo. I have an other recovery file that works but it is in chinese.
Where did you find this recovery file?
Thanks in advance

Thank you!

You reminded me that I left out a step.
I used the SP Flash tool and a firmware I was supplied by the factory and replace the supplied Recovery file wit the CWM recovery file.
I will try to remember to upload the firmware tonight.
How were you able to flash the Sophone in the first place,
I have spent hours installing & unistanling MT6575 USB VCOM drivers so that I could flash the recovery img to the phone.
I was able to install the recovery.img via Rom manager application.
By the way, what does the firmware you didin´t put on the instrucitons do and do I also need the flashing tool to work for uploading it?
I was able to install the Android.4.0_623.zip and I now have android on the phone.
Does anyone know If I the Goophone IOS 5.1 sotware works with Sophone?
In addition, if I now try to factory reset the phone, is there a file in the phone memory that has a back up of the original IOS-copy software?
(If not, could someone upload their back-up file of the original settings for this phone)
Thanks alot!

The firmware I forgot the link for is just what I used to flash the CWM recovery with.
I extracted it and used the scatter file in the SP Flash Tool (NOT the FORMAT one), extracted the CWM recovery to another directory and double clicked the recovery file in the SP Flash Tool and changed it to the CWM Recovery file.
I then clicked the download button.
As for getting the ADB USB driver working, I think I used the HTC drivers, it says driver HTC corporation version 2.0.7.3
Try this one for the HTC ADB VCOM driver

And this is the firmware I used in combination with SP Flash Tool and the CWM Recovery file

I tried the Goophone ROM REX V3 and my phone would not boot, I am pretty sure the Goophone ROMS are not compatible with the Sophone V75
Regards the original IOS, you could try my link to file #5 in the original post It is the firmware I was supplied by the factory.
I have updated the instructions in the first post too.

Thanks for all the information again ufbc.
The android OS and google play now work flawlessly but,
I now have the exact same problem as you have, I have horrible wifi reception on the phone! I have to stand next to my router in order to get any signal. In addition, I get no 2G or 3G (or any data) at all, there isn´t even a 2G/3G/4G sign next to the signal bar (I´m in Finland, and there never seems to be any problems with 2/3G...)
Please, If you manage to find a goot radio image (neither of the links Richende posted seem to work right now) and a quick tutorial on how to install / flash the upgraded radio image, I would be really thankful!

Do you have a copy of the ROM you had loaded before you flashed my ROM to your phone? If so cold you post a link to it.
Perhaps someone could unpack the baseband from it and combine the best of each ROM.

Unfortunately I did not save any back ups per se, as by being a noob at this thing I thought the original ROM would be auotmatically saved in the phone memory. (I.e. doing a factory reset would get me back to the original IOS)
But do you have atleast some kind of 2G/3G/edge reception?
Since I have none, and I was wondering if the ICS version you uploaded is not intended for EU mobile networks?
I posted to Q&A already if someone can help in finding a good radio.img file.

I have that ROM running and both 2G and 3g work great in town, but not at home in the country.
You could try flashing the other firmware that is flashed using the SP Flash Tool and see if that improves things.
It is always a good idea to do a BACKUP B4 you FLASH, I know.... too little too late.
What carrier are you with and what frequencies do they use for 2G and 3G?
You could go into the engineering settings and check the correct base-bands are supported and enabled.
Dial *#*#3646633#*#* from the phones keypad

Yes, backups, whatever the device or situation should be taken.
With wise words, "next time" ...
Anyway,
In finland 2G and 3G use 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies.
I went into the baseband area of the engineer mode
All that there is is Adress (Hex): FF
Value (Hex): 0
Block size (dec): 1
Frankly, I have no idea what these mean and how I´m supposed to check wether the settings are ok for 900,1800 and 2100 MHz.
(Ps. The glass is rather fragile on the Sophone. I dropped it VERY lightly today while sitting, and I got a small fracture line both at the back and front cover.´)
I´m wondering if I could just buy a iPhone 4s front glass and replace that without complications this one.
The frequencies are in the BandMode menu

Heya,
Thanks again!
So is this
-the original IOS copy for sophone
-an upgraded IOS copy with better radio
-or another ICS with a possibly better radio image?
or did you perhaps upload this file so that I could extract the radio image and try flashing it? (In this one its named modem.img i think)
Also, If I want to back up my current rom with ROM Manager, which phone model should I choose?
( I have the ICS here now from your original post).

This is another ROM I found from a Russian website.
It is an IOS version and uses ICS
This ROM seemed to greatly improve my 2G/3G signal, and it still has a working Gogle Play store.
I suggest you do a backup with CWM before you flash this. Make sure you have a full charge before backing up as it took ages on my phone.
Let me know how it goes.
Oh, when it first booted it showed text in Russian but then rebooted into English.
Click the thanks button if it works for you.

Great to hear this ROM version improved your 2G/3G signal.
I backed up my rom and flashed this IOS copy ROM.
I´m happy to say that my 3G and Wifi reception improved as well!
The reception isn´t quiet the same still as on my Motorola Defy+ and I have to test it in rural areas, but so far so good.
Do you btw know if there is a possibility to use both this IOS mimic and and the Android ICS (for example boot into ICS) ?
Thanks again!
-----------------------
ps. The front glass digitizer has a different ribbon cable than Iphone 4s an the Goophone Y5.
Thus it seems almost impossible to change the front glass if you break it. There are no contact details available directly to sophone anywhere.
Gosh how annoying!
I´m pretty sure people who have bought the phone will eventually start dropping their devices and we really need to find a solution to get a replacement LCD & digitalizer/glass replacements for this phone!

Thank you for your attention and agility!
I came into contact with the device vendor and sent me one. Img original unit. I even did the flash and back to normal.
Right now, its two test. Img and both arrive to unload the machine smoothly.
The first, the JUSTOP, downloaded successfully and is identical to the original, but the baseband is upgraded and more else is equal, including the Kernel.
The second, mele-a20, downloaded successfully and is very different resources, found pretty cool, but did not recognize the wireless card .. then discarded.
In conclusion, I got the Justop, which was perfect and fast!
Thank you for your help. I thought you had to throw the tv box in the trash ..

Please help me to identify firmware
Hello,
Recently I bought this Android box from eBay but unfortunately it does not work very well.
Google apps (Google Play, Gmail, etc.) are missing and USB ports work only with mice and keyboards. USB memory sticks cannot be mounted and recognized as well.
However, SD card slot works OK so I got an idea to re-flash firmware.
Can you please suggest me which one?
Device info says this:
Brand: softwinners
Model: SoftwinerEvb
OS: 4.2.2
CPU Model: Dual-Core ARMv7; Processor (VFPv4, NEON)
GPU Renderer: Mali-400 MP
Kernel Version: 3.3.0 [email protected]#7 Fri Jun 28 21:26:43 CST 2013
Subversion: sugar_tianxing-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 20130711 test-keys
According to information from this thread, I suppose that Justop firmware should be OK (box/device looks like this one from the picture posted on the beginning of this thread.
Tnx in advance!

As long as Android starts and you have root, you have no problem. I have here the ClockWorkMod for Cherry M-743
just follow instructions included in the zip file. And also replace rec_bak.img with the included image file.
Now you have recovery back, and even better it's clockworkmod recovery! So you can make backups!
Easy peasy!

If you have installed this recovery and it works for you, post your thx here. Together we can make this Cherry work! I made a great custom ROM for it, with this clockwork mod recovery you can install it, let me know ok...
P.S. Part of my ROM is making the Cherry Mobility M-743 run on 720Mhz else it will overheat with the heavy apps.
The Cherry M-743 has a 1.2Ghz CPU, but the board only go's to 1.008Mhz maximum, unfortunate 1.008Mhz is still to much, since the CPU has not much room in the plastic cover to cool, if you run heavy apps like Google Earth you will find the M-743 crashes the application quickly.
By limiting the quadcore to 720Mhz the applications will not crash. I'n my ROM I made a special memory management I call "Wirlwind SWAP" it programms the memory manager in a way using SWAP so you get about 3x more speed and since you run on 720Mhz, you will not have overheating crashes.
I will post some images from this ROM when I have time, or maybe a video. My ROM makes Cyanogen look a bit pale...

If you have installed this recovery and it works for you, post your thx here. Together we can make this Cherry work! I made a great custom ROM for it, with this clockwork mod recovery you can install it, let me know ok...

Hi I am italien, i don't know english language. exist the custom rom for my M-743?
UncleXNL said:
As long as Android starts and you have root, you have no problem. I have here the ClockWorkMod for Cherry M-743
just follow instructions included in the zip file. And also replace rec_bak.img with the included image file.
Now you have recovery back, and even better it's clockworkmod recovery! So you can make backups!
Easy peasy!

The fact that you just have replaced the name of the real creator of that CWM doesn't really convince that you could do a very good ROM.
You are not the only one doing this. @fipsy is another who did the same thing, for Hannspad, But at least he changed modules, you didn't even have to do that.
But modules are just modules and changing them doesn't give right to modify CWM the program like that. Its creator stays, regardless of kids playing with their hex editors.
The original CWM for atm7029 tabs is actually done by @bnmguy. You can download the original from here: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/71985-cwm-recovery-updated-new-version/
Hi folks!
Recently I've bought a p40 pro clone that is driving me crazy.
I can't barely use it as all the tweaks to make it look like a better phone are provoking some apps to fail. The about phone screen says that is a p40pro (without spaces), the CPU is a MT6799 when in reality is a MT6580, 12Gb of RAM but is 1Gb, Android 10.1 but it's 5.1, hahaha, it can't be more fake, but no regrets, I have what I've paid for!!!.
My initial idea with this crappy thing was to upgrade the android version to 6.x, but everything is pretty tough, at least with my little knowledge in custom roms, kernel etc.
First of all I'm not able to install TWRP on it. I can't find or make a working version:
I thought that this model was pretty similar and I tried with the TWRP included on the thread about a p40pro+, but the touchscreen after entering recovery was somehow inverted and seemed laggy: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/alps-clone-p40-pro-wish-com.4211591/
With the one at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unknown-china-device-p40-pro.4200617/post-85249887 it don't work too.
Finally I came to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ediatek-mt67xx-64bit-new-32bit-phone.3681861/ and I managed to make a custom TWRP which initially seemed to work (the touchscreen was fine) but the sd card data was unavailable, I was like missing but if I reboot the mobile it properly boot. Maybe because I choose an incompatible model to port from.
So, I'm running out of ideas, please can someone give me a hand on that super ultra fake thing?
Here is the full rom dump, preloader and recovery:
https://mega.nz/file/2M80XY7C#0kw7qVQ5498tDrt4UdUNq49lANIO3RvS73ct6DoCPO0
I'll really appreciate any suggestion on getting a new rom for this phone, and obviously how to get twrp on it, root, and if possible a rom which makes this fakephone at least useable.
Zillions of thanks in advance!!! Take care!

you need 3 files: scatter.txt , your preloader and TWRP.img (rename it to recovery.img) .... With SPflashtool , flash the recovery in mode Download only ,!
Put only one tick on recovery( untick preloader). Switch off your phone and connect to PC.... then load to recovery TWRP
