Hi
I have recently bought N9770 China Phone Which Has Dual Sim, Dual Core MT6577, Power VR SGX531 GPU, 8 MP Main, 0.3 MP Front, 512 MB ROM.
I've been looking at this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825332 and wanted to ask there but since I have less than 10 post so I can't reply there it seems. So I would like to ask here just for clarification before I proceed to root my phone: Would I be able to just root my phone safely without changing the firmware or ROM or any sort of drivers, as I think that any change to any of it will cause big problems. It has Kernel of Jul 25, and Baseband of Jun 14 (supposedly last updated by seller on Aug 2). The main reason for rooting is to change the DPI, trying to change the CPU governor settings to reduce clock speed when it sleeps to reduce heating, and for various other apps.
Screenshot: http://i48.tinypic.com/2reh64m.png
Also if possible, could you instruct me proper steps for it as to what applications would I need and how to do it safely? Previously I owned X10 Mini Pro on which I successfully did use nAa kernel by nobodyAtall (using FlashTool) + MiniCM7-2.2.1 by nobodyAtall, so I know the usual flashing stuff. But I am been very careful with this less known N9770 so any help would be greatly appreciated and helpful for others.
Thanks in advance

Hi there are no root tools at mo for MTK6577 processor. I am afraid the only way i know to do it is by flashing.its very easy as your only flashing the boot file nothing else it will do nothing except root and it can not really go wrong if you follow the instructions its done in 10 secs,i have used this method and its good and safe..if by any chance things do go wrong but they will not the original boot is in download to flash again
[Q] N9770 Rooting Safely Without ROM Flash
Ok, finally I took the risk of flashing using the guide which was posted by sas007 on his topic, which gave me root rights but eventually lost main and front camera access even on recovery mode. Tried using the orginal boot image which was linked there didn't help me either.
However, I did had whole ROM package for my model beforehand from which I extracted just the boot.img and scatter text file and flashed them instead, returning my phone back to original condition while remaining the root rights still there so this worked for me like a charm! Hopefully this might help for others as well.
I have attached the original boot.img and scatter text file for the model "e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647" and the ROM package filename was "N9770-20120725_e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647.zip" from which I extracted them.
Simply flash as per guide to get the root, then check your cameras if they are working or not. If they don't not then simply rename the boot.img and scatter file to something else so that you can extract and place the new files in there extracted from the attachment and perform the same flashing procedure with those new files and hopefully you will have your phone in original condion + root still existing in there.
Hope it helps
I did manage to root it. so my phone is working but did not have the camera issue.
had to install the drivers on another computer. now anyone know how to edit the desktops on the N9770.
and remove the google search bar on desktop I cant remove it or remove desktops.
[Q] N9770 Rooting Safely Without ROM Flash
Well, I did this on Windows 7 64 bit and I didn't had any driver issues, it installed pretty much perfectly in first attempt when I started flashing, on next attempt it started flashing.
The camera driver issue is related to the scatter text file that you're adding, the scatter file is like a configuration file.
Also, for anyone who got trouble accessing Google Play giving "No Connection" issue, it's because you have to set time and date first.
Thanks, worked perfect for me, using the original post to get root and yours to get back my cameras back

Reflash the original boot image only with sp flash tool, load firmware as normal ie select scatter file from original stock firmware and then untick everything except the boot image and flash.

Poor Hardware Decode Display
I have a question for those who using "e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647" firmware (I have this one) or any other firmware. Since the very beginning I have noticed very poor hardware decode quality which includes over brightness (which grays up black colors) and dull colors and not so fluid frame rate. Whatever resolution it is, it does not lag and syncs properly with audio but it just looks kinda stuterry 3gp-ish (well not that bad, but looks like playing LQ 240p video on YouTube). So far I am only playing videos using software decode with help of MX Player upto 720p and this does not show any such problems and the colors are vibrant and brightness tone is just perfect so that means the display driver is okay. However for unavoidable hardware decoding like YouTube I would like to know the solution for this even if it requires certain driver flashing.

You are totally correct a different driver combination selected while flashing firmware using MDT could help, also swapping uboots between the stock firmwares/firmwares also as long as same ie all ICS etc. I have done this so many time with other devices to achive what you said. However it is a risky daunting task to get perfect working combination of drivers and a lot of research Flashing.

Okay, I just tried all the combinations, and for each hardware part (Rear, Front, Display) there's just one driver that worked. The problem still not solved.
The drivers that worked for each are:
Rear: ov5647_raw
Front: hi704_yuv
Display: KD50M13_40NB_A1
I had following combinations for camera: ov5647_raw, ov7675_yuv, hi704_yuv
And following combinations for display: RX_50NT_365A, KD50M13_40NB_A1, truly3p2599, ili9481, RX_50NT_401B, RX_50RM_401A
Using uboot bin file from the firmware package: "N9770-20120725_e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647.zip"

Hi there everyone !!
I have read and tried to follow most of the posts about rooting the Star N9770.
My problem is I cannot find the firmware in my phone listed in any post ???
It is :-
1909C_V77_GQ1008_5647_20120920
Can I use any of the listed firmwares as I would like to root this phone for backups etc (use it for work)
Sorry if it's a dumb question but I really have searched for this file everywhere.
Don't suppose anyone has ported CM10.1 into the N9770 have they ??
I love Cyangenmod roms and 10.1 is awesome in my eyes feature packed just wondered

No its not dumb, the thing with these phones is that everything begins in china forums which takes a little time to travel to the english ones
That being said,
1. you cannot use any firmware without making sure it matches your smartphones hardware cause if you did it might lead to bricking or etc.
2. and the firmware in question wont matter till you have given sufficient hardware info ( mainly radio module, phone model, cpu { mt6577, 6575... } )

Hello,
I have bought a North American (Canadian, to be exact) Galaxy Gio (S5660M, with an additional "M" from the European model).
There are lots of tutorials about S5660 rooting and unlocking, but none for S5660M. There has been some reports that flashing S5660 firmware on S5660M to root and unlock made their phones unusable (randomly changing screen brightness, etc).
I tried searching on google and XDA, but could not find any relating to S5660M.
Is it too early to see any rooting/unlocking on S5660M?
Thank you very much!
Hello,
After some reading on here to compare unlock methods, I decided to take the leap into the unknown. I used the one published in this thread. (EDIT: Check out this one instead, perfectly safe.) (It turns out that the Gravity Smart, Galaxy Q, 551, 550, Mini, Ace, Fit, and Gio are siblings in a few respects. They all share Qualcomm 7x27 family SoCs.)
One deviation from the above linked thread is that SuperOneClick does not work on the 2.3.4 MUGK3 firmware. Updated versions of SuperOneClick do work with the firmware. Worst case scenario the program won't finish gracefully, but you'll have a root shell and you can work from there.
I've uploaded my modified superuser zip that'll work with the 5660M. Install through recovery mode. Removed - the superuser files within were long obsolete. Get the current ones through proper channels.
I wouldn't risk flashing the ROMs posted here until we can get a complete backup ROM, either from samfirmware.com (they don't have one yet) or through efforts here. I'll be starting another thread here for that purpose. Backup made a long time ago and SamMobile has had an official Odin image for some time as well.
There's been some issues reported with the 5660M, ranging from odd screen brightness behavior to bricking. (Many ROMs initially posted for the 5660, left "as is" also flash both the kernel and radio: not good.)
Goodbye,
Darkshado
Thank you for the reply! I have successfully rooted & unlocked using the modified zip. I am not sure if it was your's (I have done it prior to looking at your reply... ), but it worked!
thank you!

could you tell me how I could unlock my phone too.
New tonight
Just picked up a GIO here tonight.
BTW Future Shop in Canada has these on for $80 right now.
I think this is a great deal, for a very responsive 2.3 android phone.
OK,
So S5660m - is the version in canada it would seem.. I think there are going to be quite a lot of owners because of the pricing.
We should use this thread or another to setup a difinitive list of what works.
1. How to root the phone.
2. Unlocks that work - I have heard some methods brick Ms very easy. What is the best unlock method specific to the M
3. What ROMs can we use? do we need to have our own set of modified roms because of the modem portion?
4. Overclocking.. I have heard these can clock up to 1100 and run awsome!!
This is my wish list.
James

The bml5 method is safe. I noticed I had left a link to the older and unsafe stl5 method in my post above and removed it.
And keep your unlock code accessible somewhere on the phone. This phone is known to relock itself to Bell in some specific scenarios.

Yes, and no. If you only flash system.rfs, and maybe boot.img, it should work based on what others have reported.
I've cooked up a ROM for the 5660M that's called ArpegGioMod if you want to have a look.
Another point to consider if you want to run your phone in French: the Eurasian ROMs may or may not have that locale, and will likely have an AZERTY keyboard instead of a QWERTY one.
Do not flash radio (AMSS) or the other bootloaders from the Euro 5660. The former will make you lose all cellphone connection, the latter is unnecessary and increases your chances of bricking.

Where'd you get that? The only kernel mods I've seen so far for any Gio are all ramdisk modifications that left the stock kernel untouched.
Just to clairify darkshadow, by "bml5 method" you mean this ?
0) brand new locked GT-S5660M phone frome the store
1A) root the device using this zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16962635&postcount=2
simplest method :
1.1 To begin, download the zip file from the link above and copy it to the root of your SD card.
1.2 Power the phone off.
1.3 Boot into recovery mode by holding the middle button and pressing the power button.
1.4 Once in recovery mode, select update from sdcard and choose the update.zip that you copied to your SD card.
1.5 Let the file flash and once done, reboot your phone.
OR
1B Follow EDIT2, for temp rooting on same URL below
2. Follow exact instructions as per here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17148825&postcount=334
(with the slight modification for HEX code to search specified here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17311381&postcount=358 )
Question: Does it matter if there is a SIM card in the phone when following these instructions ?
Any thoughts about "Network Lock Control Key" ?? ( ... would appear that this shows up as a separate issue for some users some time after unlocking see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992564 )
THANK YOU so much for confirming I got this right....I just want to make sure I am not missing anything, and these instructions are really safe as far as you know before attempting anything.

IMEI: Mod Edit: IMEI # Removed...not a great idea to post them on a public forum
Let me start with things you shouldn't do:
-Resurrect two year old, stale, threads.
-Post your IMEI for everyone to see.
Exactly *how* is your USB port messed up? Just not talking to the computer or not working at all?
Are you rooted? If not, get that sorted out by using one of the exploits that worked on Gingerbread. You'll have to do it manually, no SuperOneClick for you. (Although the binaries included might come in handy.)
It is possible to do the commands to get bml5 via a terminal emulator app, and then transfer that file over wi-fi. (Samba, WebDAV, FTP, Dropbox, etc...)
I'm not sure anymore if this is possible in GB, look into using ADB over wi-fi instead of USB. I've sold my Gio months ago, and all of my current devices run 4.1+.
Hi All/experts,
I bought this phone 2 months back after lot of rooting efforts finally was able to root it. However I think unknowingly I deleted some apps from /system/app while trying to cleanup unwanted applications. Now my phone does not show any cell connection(its a dual sim phone) does not even show the SIM signal bars on the top right corner. when I look at the phone information about baseband it reports "unknown". I tried using various phone.apk but non of them worked and I would like to know how I can solve this issue and make my phone alive. My phone boots properly , all other installed apps work, I get a wifi connection and can use Google Play.
Can someone help me by providing the rom dump for this phone or a APK dump for this phone? The phone shows that its running 4.0.4 however its a 2.3.6 base I believe.
Ok to even flash a custom rom as long as its sure to work
Again the model is Telsda T9555 and it has a mediatek MTK6515 processor with 256MB RAM and 256MB ROM.
Thanks

Hello,I found your post about rooting Telsda phone. I would like to ask You, how did You done it? I have Telsda T8520 bought in PRC last week, I'm trying to install Google Play subsystem, but to be honest I don't know how... Can You help me? Simply installing google play apk doesn't help. Phone seems to be rooted, but some things are still in chinese, not english, so I'm not quite sure. Explaining your rooting and google installing procedure might help me. Thanks in advance.

to root the phone its simple, extract the boot image using mtkdroidtools and then decompile the image file. edit I think the build.prop and set ro.secure = 0 and ro.debugging =1 (I am no expert but this is what I did). repack the boot image and flash it back to the phone. Then use unlockroot and thats it you get your phone rooted.
However since your phone is rooted as you say, installing google play needs installing the below apk
1. GoogleServicesFramework-signed
2. OneTimeInitializer-signed
3. SetupWizard-signed
4. com.android.vending-3.1.3-signed
I have attached the zip here in case you want to give it a try. This worked for me, I dont guarantee it will work for you !!!
if I helped you ... can you provide me a full rom dump of your phone , I will try to flash it and since its the same manufacturer I hope it will work Right now I got my phone back from completly bricked by keeping the boot image and then flashing a system image from different phone. So my works for calls ,sms, gprs ...etc but fails on wifi and bluetooth.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK , I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE GOES BAD

your problem could be driver installation.... get usbdview and run it as admin. delete all mediatek related entries, reconnect the phone for flashing and then let the system do the installation of the drivers again. This is a very common issue with mediatek preloader Vcom drivers atleast as per my experience but I dont know if others too have faced this. when I have a problem I use the above porcess to make it work again.

still same issue, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm still not able to mount any functional drivers for this phone (debugging mode on, tried VCOM, mediatek too)

I dont understand what you are trying to do . If you are trying to flash the phone then you need to run sp flash tools, remove the phone battery.. start the download or the readback in sp flash tool .. put the battery back into the phone and connect the phone to your computer. This way your Vcom drivers should get installed.
Again before doing all this its advisable to do delete the existing drivers on your PC using USBDview
There is a tutorial on how to use SP flash tools check it on the internet. As a suggestion to avoid any risk of messing your phone just do a readback instead of a download.
Goodluck !!! your phone , your risk if something above fails (-:

Try Shuame
I've bought one of these Doogee DG100 smartphones, had it about a month now, and it's really excellent value for the price - I can't find anything I don't like about it. Well built, great phone and I'd highly recommend it. Well, Ok, the plastic fake leather cover's a bit naff, but hey.
I've rooted it using SRSRoot, flashed the latest firmware from the Doogee download site and I use MKTDroid for ADB access etc.
I removed all of the junk I didn't want, and removed the preloaded apps (twitter, whatsapp, skype etc) and reinstalled them from the Play Store - I didn't trust that some of them wouldn't update properly.
Managed to brick it too by doing dumb stuff, but the Doogee Flashtool just let me reflash the firmware and away it goes again.
Seems pretty bullet proof. Let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to help out.
Good luck!

Hi,
I don't know if it's because it's all written in Chinese when I get to the page with the actual zip on it or if it's because I'm blind and am missing some important visual cue on the page, but I can't figure out how to download the firmware or how to get the tools. Any advice on this? I even tried looking at the source code to see if there is a direct link to the file, but it's all full of JavaScript.
Incidentally, is there any indication on the site as to whether we might expect a newer version of Android on this phone in the future?

If you use the SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1320.0.174, you will manage to overcome that problem, but then you'll face the real one. The real problem is that your, phone like mine too, has a different version LCD display, that needs firmware 0926 to work right. If you use 0917, phone will flash, reboot, but show garbage on screen. I am asking Doogee to provide me the 0926 firmware (the one that my phone had installed when it arrived 5 days ago), but they don't reply to my mails. It also seems that the new display is not IPS as the earlier versions, as it greys while on angle and shows color shifting (obvious even with garbage on screen...).
I am waiting for a second DG100 within next week, so if anyone can share a way about extracting 0926 firmware from it, i would be obliged...

Ok, i managed to get my phone working again, by using an extracted rom from a phone with 0926 firmware.

Download this files, extract them in folder with firmware 0917 and then flash them to the phone. This will work until we get the firmware from the factory (if it ever publishes it). Doogee no more for me, by the way, their customer support sucks...

Doogee announced new firmwares, 0926 and 1101 for DG100 at their site. Try 1101 first and then the 0926.
Solution
I solved the problem of the error 4032, steps:
1) i used windows xp, i don't know if it will work in windows 7.
2) i did use firmware 9_26 and flashtools v3.1328.
3) select the scatter of the firmware 9_26, leave marked only PRE-LOADER and click in DOWNLOAD.
4) Keep pushed (power) + (volume -) and connect the cable to the pc. You must see the red line, then purple and finally the green circle, then disconnect the cable.
5) Now unmark PRE-LOADER and mark the rest of the options and click in DOWNLOAD; then connect the cable keeping the buttons (power) + (volume -) pushed; now you must see the red line, then the yellow line and the green circle.
Thanks to Asterisd for your advice.

I use Chrome which seems to auto-translate and gives me a Chinglish version of the screens, which makes it a lot easier.
I assume you got to the pan.baidu download site? If so, in the middle of the screen there is an icon that looks a bit like a suitcase. Above and to the right there are two rectangular buttons, one blue and the other unfilled. Click the unfilled one. A popup window will appear with another two rectangular buttons at the top, one blue and one unfilled. Again click the unfilled one. That should start the download.
This site has a list of the latest downloads: http://www.doogee.cc/en/gb/xiazai.asp - I'm currently running DG100-0917 and about to try DG100-1101
Hope that helps.

What's the exact wording of the message(s) you get? I recall I had some difficulty with this and googled how to overcome it, including deleting incorrect application IDs and certificates from one of the Android files - sorry, I can't now remember exactly what steps I followed but if you can post the exact message I'll try to help.
I don't think I was able to get Facebook to update from Play, no matter what I did. I think I read somewhere that this might be to do with one of the themes that Doogee / Mediatek use being incompatible with later versions of Facebook.
Anyway, please post the message(s) and I'll see what I can do.
Cheers.
DG100-1101 breaks WiFi
I installed the latest firmware, DG100-1101 but unfortunately Wi Fi and Bluetooth don't work, and when I reverted to DG100-0927 I get an odd entry in WiFi settings NVRAM WARNING Err = 0x10. Everything else seems OK though.
I would advise NOT upgrading to this version and if anyone finds a fix for the Wi Fi issue' please post here, thanks

This thread is a continuation of some of the discussion that was from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568427
While not at all high end tablets, it's always fun to see what can be squeezed out of them! As stated in the title, this thread will be regarding the following devices: Nobis NB07, Iview 774TPC, and DA-741QHD (which all appear to be the same hardware) rooting and ROMs. That should be pretty simple for now since, we currently have no ROMs and no proven root method. Some have reported success using the Kingoapp. If anyone is able to obtain root, we would like to ask that you make a copy of the firmware and upload it for those of us having trouble doing so. After doing so, we can modify it and hopefully get more our of the software.
You may also post information regarding tweaking the ROMs for these devices and other ways to make them more useful!
Warning: The following may have unforseen effects including breaking your tablet to the point of being unrepairable.
Option #1, Use KingoApp Some users have reported that this did not work for them, at least one user reported that it did.
Instructions per RawX:
For the drivers the easiest method is just using Top Notch Tablets How to install ADB drivers. That worked on the first one, the second one it didn't not entirely sure why, but you can send a email to support and ask them for development drivers for the nobis tablets and they will send the ADB drivers you need. After you have the drivers installed use kingo while the tablet is in usb debug mode BEFORE plugging it into your usb port and do not turn on usb transfer. the first time after it reboots kingo will report that it was not rooted, leave it plugged in and power off and back on and it should report the root worked. This method gives you SuperSU. Both times. I've done this were for clients of mine but its pretty straight forward.

The working drivers for me were: VID_1f3a_PID_efe8
Please consider trying this first and give us some feedback. A word of warning though, there has been some discussion on XDA in the past that this may be malware though I'm not sure this was ever confirmed.
Option #2, Flash firmware for an alternate device that can be rooted easily. Warning!!! Currently, there is no way to get back to stock (until someone who gets root with another method makes a copy of the firmware)
Go to this website: http://www.iviewus.com/firmware788TPC/ and download the firmware. Yes, it is for another tablet. However, the tablet appears to have the same specs as ours. Once downloaded. Install the included PhoenixSuit software. Once it is running, click the button at the bottom right to update the software to the newest version (this may not be required). Then, plug in your tablet using the usb port and install the drivers. I used google and found them all within minutes. Once the software recognizes your tablet go to the firmware tab where you have extracted the .img file and select the file. Next, click upgrade to upgrade your tablet (it has instructions to help your tablet be recognized if you are having difficulty). Once the new firmware has been flashed, then download the file RootFromOTA.zip that can be found on various places such as XDA. Move the file onto an external SD card. Then, go to settings -> backup & reset -> Recovery Mode. Your tablet will restart. Once it does, select the bottom option to install from SD card. Install the RootFromOTA.zip and then reboot. Once rebooted, install the supersu app or another root application of your choice.
Credits: As above to RawX
Congrats... You're rooted.
Mods
Currently, I've managed to get great battery life out of my tablet by installing kernel tuner and changing the settings as such:
Governor: Ondemand (default is fantasys)
Max: 1200 MHz (Default is 1200 MHz)
Min: 240 MHz (Default is 120 MHz, but I had trouble with usability at this setting and Ondemand)
I also recommend setting wifi to turn off when the screen is off and turn off autosync.
This seemed to give me a very useable system but with greatly improved battery life. Doing the above and a few other tweaks here and there have made my battery life so that it drains by about 1% overnight when not in use. I also seem to get better battery life while using the tablet. I haven't had any trouble playing games either.

Nope, still haven't gotten the camera working. We are missing some config files still. Do you need the camera drivers or the tablet drivers?
The camera drivers are : sp2518 and sp0838, though I also see a module being loaded called cam_detect
I don't recall where I got the adb usb drivers for the tablet, but it would probably be a good thing to mention in this thread so if you have them, let me know and I can add it to one of the top posts. If you're having trouble finding them, I'll remove my drivers and go back through the process to find them again.

OK. The drivers I used were probably: VID_1f3a_PID_efe8 (or something similar)
You can either google that or try downloading the firmware for TP718AQ here: http://www.agptek.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=948
Remove all prior drivers for the tablet. Plug it in and tell Windows to use the drivers from the extracted file you download (Will extract to TP718AQ_Update_Firmware\USB Driver).
Sometimes I have to do a little dance with restarting the device and my computer to get it to recognize it.
As a last resort you could try this: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...r-solves-your-adb-driver-problems-on-windows/
Let me know if you have any problems.
Good Luck!
Ok, I officially give up trying to root this thing. Stupid windows will not install the drivers in both the links you provided and I cant get windows to even try to install anything after removing them then I got the android ADB drivers to install but still zero luck. All rooting apps fail. Hopefully someone will post the image of their rooted NB07. A few claim to have rooted it just fine but I cant win with this thing.
All I want is to be able to run link2sd and a few other apps that require root. This is officially the longest I have owned an un-rooted android device. lol
I'm the one that got the root working using kingo, so for the drivers the easiest method is just using Top Notch Tablets How to install ADB drivers ( I would post a link but I don't have 10 posts yet on XDA)

Well, I have decided that for now this tablet of mine is un-rootable. I must have tried with 5 or 6 different drivers about 20 times with each with Kingo. I even tried that other program that is all in Chinese that loads some BS app on to your phone with no luck. So, for now, I am going to give up but if anyone has any other ideas or wants me to try something or they have for sure figured out how to root it, let me know as I am happy to help the best I can.
Edit: Oh yeah, Dont know how much this will help anyone but here is some more specific specs on the Nobis NB07 tablet I pulled off it with Hardware Info 3.0.0. Feel free to put the link in the first or second post if you want. Maybe it will help a little bit more.

Thanks to the work of someone on another forum, I have now got TWRP working on our device and am hoping we will soon have a CM working on it as well. Check back in the near future for further details. Maybe if you can't have a rooted stock, we can get a fully functional CM.
I am assuming you need to have root to flash the TWRP recovery correct. This is good news. Would love to have more info on it. Are you working with people on this site or another site? I would love to follow along.

On another site for now. Just PM's at the moment so not much to follow yet. But, all you'll need is the Phoenixsuit to install it, so you won't have to root your tab first. You'll have root on the new ROM. You'll have to have drivers fully working though. Once fully working I'll link to the site so people can get the files and hopefully we can get this guy some donations for his work.
Awesome! I would go right to CM on this and skip the whole rooting the stock firmware. Would be nice to be able to root the stock firmware though then things would be so much easier. Think the camera will be working on the CM build? If not no big deal but would be nice to have them working.
Keep me (us) posted on the progress.

Not sure about the camera yet. I have CM booting but no touch yet, so this will be the first task. I'll keep everyone posted.
Any word on getting things to work yet?
Currently, we have CM working with no touch screen/camera. I'm not sure what else all isn't working because I'm waiting on my OTG cable to come in for further testing to see what all is going to be required to get the touchscreen going. Right now, it appears we my be looking at compiling our own drivers which could take some time to do. I think we'll get it eventually, but it may take some time. If you don't need touchscreen or camera, it could be working right now.
Sorry for no updates for a while. My work has been delayed on this since I have a son who is sick and in the pediatric ICU. I'll get back to work when things calm down for me.
No worries man. Family first.
Just a question, Hippie...
On the original ROM, can you see your device in ADB? If you can, and type "adb shell" do you get root? If you have adb access but not root, can you try typing sh and see what happens?
Also, could you try loading the rootfromOTA.zip and see if you can get a printout of the error log if possible?
Also, I tried installing this from the recovery on a similar ROM and it acted like it failed. I went back into the ROM and used adb and was able to get root using vroot or kingo...I don't remember which. This may be worth a shot.
Interestingly, I have been looking for alternative ways to root and found this (but we need to find a way to get to the bootloader):http://whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Rooting
I think that the method to get to bootloader is to turn off the tablet, then hold down the back button while tapping the power button 5 times. But, I also googled and found a method for getting to fastboot from adb in android without root as well which may work.
Long story short:
I bricked my enet e714jk (allwinner a23 tzx-723q4), now trying to unbrick it, it's alive again now but with the wrong firmware, I tried so many firmwares but non of them works well (some with no WiFi or Bluetooth, some with touch screen not working, some hangs on boot screen, some don't even flash at all or hangs during the flash.. etc etc).
So I headed to the website and downloaded what is supposed to be the original firmware but it turned out to be a 1gb file with the extension *.fw (and not the usual *img file I'm used to for flashing so far).
So a layman just like myself will be looking for the easy solution here, which is a working *.img (or any other known extension) firmware that will just flash this tablet the normal way.
But if not.. well, can you guys please tell me what to do exactly with this *.fw file and get things done eventually (all I've done so far was the actions pad tools approach, I got this actions pad tools which seem to handle such files but I really don't know where to start or how to get things work)
Thanks alot

I finally found some working firmwares in the *.img format (they're for other brands but pretty much the same in everything as the stock rom), I'll be glad to give the links to anyone facing the same problem or whoever else might need it.
I still am curious though as to what to do with this *.fw file or how to flash it (I still have the file and I won't delete it), so if anyone knows.. I certainly am interested in the answer, thanks again

Well thanks, I actually used it but there was a problem with the driver I guess.. I couldn't get the software to identify the tablet and connect to it (well the connection just happens for a couple of seconds and then it disconnects again)
