I have tried to unlock and root my Nexus S. I achieved unlock, but I am having problems with ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.2 When I reboot, all I get is "Google" in the middle of the screen, with an "unlocked" lock image at the bottom of the screen. I am a new to this, and may have done something wrong.

You have to be more specific on what you did.
Did you flash a ROM?
.. What did you do?
The "unlocked" image is supposed to be there.
Hold Volume up + Power then go into recovery. Upon there, you should be able to do something. Perform a nandroid restore, flash a ROM, etc.
Remember when you flash a ROM you must wipe: factory settings, cache, dalvik
I'm here thinking you flashed a ROM and didn't wipe so it's not loading the ROM.
If this is the case, just wipe the 3 things I said above and reflash the ROM and then reboot and you'll be on your way.
And please stop using the term 'brick' it is not bricked.
Brick doesn't mean your phone doesn't start and it seems like its broken. Brick means to the state where you CANT turn on the phone AT ALL.
You need to flash the recovery image correctly.
Fastboot flash recovery cwmfilename.img
Then turn off phone and boot. Up by volume up and power to get to bootloader then select recovery.

Thanks for your help. You were right. I have everything working now. Thanks.
Hi
I`m a noob needing some help. I recently got my Nexus S (i9020T). I have not rooted my phone or modifyed it in any way.
2 times I have had the update notifyer telling meg that there is a system update available(currently runing 2.3.4)
When accepting the update the phone gets stuck on the Google screen. Nothing happens for a long time. Both times I have ended up pulling the battery and the phone starts up again without problem.
I tried once pressing the "volum up" and "power" buttons and using the recovery option(after puting the updatefile og the root of the phone in usb-mode). The same thing happens.
Anybody have a solution for me. Need a fix as I do want the ICS update when it releases.

If the phone works then there is no need to send back. Google online "Download 2.3.6 update for T-Mobile" . a website should have it . The file should be 96 MBs long. Download astro file manager because u don't really need the PC to update ur phone... once the update is downloaded just find the file in astro / downloads / ... press and hold on the update and rename to update.zip ... then press and hold again and move to Root of SD ... turn off phone and boot into recovery and install update from zip

Hi
Thank you for the reply.
I have tried this solution. When booting into recovery the phone stops at the Google screen and nothing happens. Have left i alone for up tp 2 hours without anything happening. It's not responding at all. Having to pull the battery to start it up again.
Did you try to reset the phone to factory-reset before updating?
Just tried to. It gets stuck at the Google screen yet again.
thats not good
Now you can do 2 things :
1. Send the phone back to samsung to repair/update
or
2. Root the phone and then reset it back to stock and try again.
If you decide to root your phone, you have to
unlock the bootloader (everything will be wiped)
install custom recovery (ClockWork)
install root
install the rommanager-app from market
download the stock 2.3 from the RomManager (includes stock recovery)
try to update over OTA again
and if it works you can relock the bootloader
this works for my nexus s i9023 ... i hope that this works also on your i9020T, but im not sure
Do you have a link to a walk thru? I've tried some "oneclick roots" but they all gets stuck at "device not found"

Do you see the Android ADB Interface in your Device-Manager while the Phone is pluged in? If not you have to install the Samsung Driver.
I do see the device when plugged in

then you can try it manualy :
download superuser @ http://bit.ly/su2361ef and put it on your sdcard
adb reboot bootloader (the phone should go into fastboot)
download cwm @ http://www.mediafire.com/?xdpvcxiybcrzte5 (5023-green.img)
fastboot boot path-to/5023-green.img
now the recovery should start on the phone
in the recovery choose install zip from sd and look for the su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip and install it.
after that just enter "adb reboot" and your phone should start rooted.
now you can install rommanager over the market and look for an stock-image to revert back and retry to update it OTA.
Try install clockworkmod into your phone.
1. Boot into fastboot mode.
2. Install phone driver.
2.a. Get driver frome some where (try googling PDANET Nexus S driver (for your series)).
2.b. Install & enable adb and fastbott (googling too, there is some tutorial in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=881).
2.c. unlock bootloader.
2.d. flash clockworkmod.
3. Boot into clockwork mode recovery (in fastboot mode choose recovery).
4. Mount your USB driver.
5. Download stock ROM for your phone.
6. Wipe data, caches, and dalvik caches.
7. Install from SDCard, choose your stock rom zip.
8. Restart phone.
7. Optional -> lock your bootloader (the same way as unlocking bootloader, but change unlock to lock).
hi everyone,
I could really need a quick solution.
I just received my phone from a screen repair and was going to root it.
I unlocked it first with htcdev and now it says juopunutBear and it's S OFF.
but when I'm booting it, it just stayson the HTC screen and when I select recovery or factory reset it goes into the reset screen for a little while and after that it returns to the boot screen.
If you can get to the hboot scrren it should be fixable.
You might be able to flash a new copy of a recovery from fastboot on your computer. That should let you reinstalled a saved rom.
You may also be able to flasha rom through a pm58img file in the bootloader.
If all else fails you should be able to run an ruu to reset it entirely and start over.

PLZ PLZ HELP.. URGENTLY NEEDED..
Explain it a little more.
Bootloader can't corrupt and you can't flash bootloader again, first of all is your phone unlocked?
If it is unlocked and you can flash another Rom

It's deadly you shouldn't have taken out the usb even if it is stuck, keep waiting that's what is important! And the earlier issue was easy no need to Flash RUU!
If you burnt Nand and flashed RUU over it well your phone is over sorry to say it!
If bootloader doesn't show up only thing you can do is flash ruu again until it shows up
Otherwise you can't do anything, my suggestion take it to customer care they can't check if you ever unlocked it because your phone is bricked!
Sorry for you

try this..........1st. relock bootloader
Run the RUU on your computer but don't connect phone or cancel it (it extracts to temp folder on comp) keep the installation window open otherwise it deletes the temp files needed, on your comp browse to c:\users>your_profile_name_>appdata>local>temp (btw its hidden folder) you`ll see folder like this "{72971B53-1555-4F5F-ABDC-C36F174FE9C2}" inside that folder find the file "rom" copy it to your desktop, once done close the RUU installation setup (press cancel or something).....next rename the "rom" file you have on desktop to "PJ03IMG" without quotes......next copy that to your sdcard (via which ever means possible) put sdcard into phone and boot into bootloader (hold vol down and press power button) when bootloader appears it scans sdcard for .zips and .img files for stock RUU...it should start the process of re-installing the RUU package, all should be fine.....once its finished let it reboot then you can unlock bootloader again and root/flash recovery.....hope it helps

If you read no.9 of his post>>>>
all you have to do is RUU the normal way via windows installer, even if you have error sign on all four corners the RUU package has repair option if upgrade fails....you just have to wait......the phone should still be detected as usb/fastboot is still enabled so its not hard bricked.....then follow my original post to get back stock rom.........I`ve recovered from this before

At least tell, which part you don't understand.
RUU the normal way and wait for 5 hours(if it gets stuck @54%)
Hi.. if you haven't fixed your Pico yet,
Try this
Unlock bootloader
try this command
Fastboot Flash recovery recovery.img
(Flash twrp recovery with this command ~see twrp recovery section )
Then
fastboot boot recovery
Now you will be in recovery without going to bootloader
Now try cuteprince procedure
Then try ruu.
Unlock
Flash any custom Rom.
And Voila
Your phone boots
Enjoy
PS:if a step doesn't work /you don't know how to do that step, skip that step ~nothing will happen, even if you miss an very important step. Go to next step.

First download a ROM and place it on your memory card. Go to cwm.. > mounts and storage > format data cache boot system.
go to main menu.. > do a factory reset...
go to advanced > do wipe dalvik cache
install zip from sd card > choose ROM.zip.. > flash..
reboot..
having some troubles with my vzw m8. i just got the phone, used sunshine to get s-off then downlaoded the twrp app to install the recovery.
since i was on stock and didnt have a super reboot menu, i powered down. did the vol down+power to get to the bootloader.
then chose recovery it gave me the device with the red ! sign. then i fiddled with the buttons and it went to TWRP. That seems funny to begin, but it gets better.
Now, i can't boot normally. it always goes to TWRP. any ideas?

I had a similar problem when I first S-Off'd and rooted my M8 with the firewater method, could only get the phone to boot into recovery. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708628 and look for the section of the first post for -- *Unsecured Kernel --, try flashing that, it finally let me boot to the ROM and return to normal functionality.

you flashed it to the wrong partition..if so all you need to do is fastboot flash twrp an then reboot your recovery it will be twrp in the right place. Just restore a backup you made an you will be all set...if you have no backup..smh then load a ROM to your SD card via PC then do as above flash ROM of SD card an that will fix your issue.
