[Q] Note doesn't have volume notification icon... - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how to get an icon in the notification bar indicating whether the Note 10.1 is in silent, vibrate, or sound on mode? My android phones have always had this and I guess I'm accustomed to it because I'm always looking to the Note's bar and only seeing Wifi and battery.
Any ideas (yes, I know i can just open the notification tray, but that's not what I'm trying to do...)? Thanks!

Nobody on here has wanted to do this or found a way to? Or does it even make sense what's being asked? For example, from the lockscreen, there is no indication of whether the volume is on, or it's in vibrate or silent. Thanks again!

[Q] App for SMS alerts

Is there an application that controls SMS alerts better than the stock android alerts? If I turn off status bar notifications, it turns off sound and vibrate.
I want to turn off status bar and lock screen sms notifications, and only get a tone/vibrate. Checking the status notification off in the menu turns off sound/vibrate.
HTC Evo Froyo 2.2 on Calkulin rom
There are SMS notification applications, yes, but I don't think you can enable sound/vibration without a status bar notification as the status bar functions as a sort of master notification manager.
I imagine that's intentional on Google's part -- if you could enable just sound without a visual cue, it would be too easy to end up confused as to what kind of notification you actually received. Sounds like a recipe for confusion from less-savvy users.
Now, there's a chance I'm wrong here -- but I'm fairly certain I'm not. You could try SMS Popup (http://www.appbrain.com/app/sms-popup/net.everythingandroid.smspopup), which can do a one-time popup notification without putting anything in the status bar, but again, that won't do sound or vibration without the status bar notification enabled.
I tried sms popup, it requires you to do a status bar notification.
I don't really understand your part about the sound/vibrate notification being confusing. phones for years have had sound/vibrate with different alerts for each type of event. i also get a (1) on the SMS application showing i have 1 unread message.
I really think it is a poor design that I can't turn off the status bar notification without turning off all message sounds/vibrate. What if I just didn't want someone reading my messages but wanted to hear the sound?
I have never used a phone that doesn't automatically (and non-optionally) put a notification icon in a status bar, or place a # over the messaging icon, or give some other visual cue that you have a new message. But if what's actually bothering you is the scrolling message preview in the status bar -- not the notification icon itself -- SMS replacement apps Handcent and ChompSMS both can disable that.
The only option if you just really can't live with that icon, for whatever reason, is to get Handcent or Chomp to disable the scrolling preview, and then to go digging around in one of those programs' files with Root Explorer or the like to find the SMS notification icon image file and replace it with a completely transparent .png. The notification icon would then be invisible, despite still technically being there.
Yea im talking about the scrolling notification bar not the # on the sms message app icon.
I've used handcent and sms popup and both have a notification on/off, just like default message. It is tied to the audio. If you don't want the scrolling notification bar, you can't get audio from what I've found so far.
It was kind of nice at first, until i realized its just wasting extra battery, and it stays up there until i actually go click it or something. It also displays the text if someone else is holding the phone and thats annoying as well. I just don't understand why the notification bar isn't separate from the audio/vibrate.

Any way to get a brightness slider Notification Window?

If there is any apps that give this option or anyway to do it without to much modding I would greatly appreciate the info! Im stock rooted with FK no roms and dont really want to have Roms yet (waiting on full PA) I would really just like the quick option of pulling down the notification window and change brightness and be done instead of clicking through buttons to get to a slider or clicking through brightness profiles ala Power toggles which can be clunky.

Well, not sure what you would consider too much modding. I'm stock rooted with stock kernel. The only tool I ever need is Xposed Framework + Gravity Box. It's super easy to do what you are looking for with regards to brightness in the status bar. In fact, it's even easier because you don't even have to pull down the notification bar. There's a setting in Gravity Box that allows you to just slide you finger along the status bar (without having to pull it down), and you can adjust your brightness quickly. I use this instead of auto-brightness, and it works flawlessly.

Yea I dont really know about xposed and all that Ive heard it can drain battery depending on modules and all that or in general. Maybe im wrong but even then not to sure about it. And there is an app that can do what you described but its not what im looking for because I can accidentally trigger it when pulling down notifications so I ditched it. Id rather have a brightness bar in the notification shade.

Ah. I see. Maybe something like this would help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49741707#post49741707? It's post #30 on that page. rootSU says he uses it with great success.
And for what it's worth, I don't see any significant battery drain from using Gravity Box. For example, I don't charge my phone overnight. So during that 9-hour period that my phone is "asleep," it only drains about 2-3% at the most. I have enabled quite a few mods using it as well. I'm thinking the people that see drastic drain are running another app that is keeping the phone awake, or something specific in Gravity Box that keeps the phone awake, or wakes it up often (something like keep the last screen on your phone queued up so when you put the phone to sleep, then wake it up later, the same screen will appear).

Gear S2 always displays an icon at watch

Hi,
I bought my Gear S2 yesterday, and it works great!
The only thing so far though, is that is constantly displays an icon on top of the watch widget. Right now it is the icon for 'standalone'.
I wonder if it is possible to remove this icon from here, because it is already at the dropdown tray.
All the images I have seen of the watch in use does not have this icon displayed, so there has to be a way to disable this.
Any suggestions?
So I found out right after I posted this question that there is no icon there when it is connected to my phone using bluetooth. But seeing as I would like to use the Gear S2 standalone as well, I would appreciate if anyone knew if it is possible to turn of this icon when the phone is in 'standalone' mode.
Thank you in advance
Probably it is not possible for now. That icon acts like signal/network indicator on phone
I'm not a fan of the stand alone mode icon on the watch face. I don't want to have my phone connected all the time and the icon looks terrible on the watch face. There is a whole pull down screen for watch mode icons. It would be great if there was an app that removed any icons from being displayed on the watch face and allowed us to customize what icons we want displayed on the pull down screen.
Yes same question i got...
Is there a way to remove this icon.?
Only way is connecting through bluetooth

Disable notifications

Hello All,
My question is that how can I disable the notification on the notification bar per app.
I just want to disable for example Viber icon and notification on the notification bar, but I want the LED notification only.
If I disable the notifications in app settings, the Viber want to enable it.
I just do not want the Viber icon on the notification bar, but the LED notification is "nice to have".
I checked the Play for this kind of apps without success.
I just surprised with this Android version, because on my old Galaxy S5 (android 6.0.1 note 7rom), this setting is available, when I long press the notification on the notification bar. I can simple disable it.
Or it is because of the Custom rom? I don't think so...
I'm using the below rom on my S5 deivce

Thanks if you have any idea,
Regards,
You can change it from your settings menu, either in the notif area or your app's settings.

No, it can't change. i just tried. if I disable it, all notification has been blocked from the app with LED notification, not just the statusbar or notification bar notifications.
I just attached some picture about my problem.
When I turn off the notification on notification bar, the app will require to enable it. On my old phone as I mentioned, it was easily to disable the notification on statusbar and on the notification panel.
Is there any solution or app for do that? For better understanding: I want the LED notification, but without notification panel notification.
The last picture contains the setting what I looking for... it is from my old Samsung Galaxy S5 (note 7 custom rom) marked with red.

Any LED indicator in Mate 30 Pro?

I can't seem to find it settings, and I suspect there isn't one.
Coming from Samsung Note 8, this was one of the feature I liked most.
I could use Lightflow and I could customize LED color lighting for a certain sender.
I wonder if anyone know a good replacement for a silent and subtle way of notification through third party apps, maybe utilizing the always on display with colored lights for status indicator?
Thanks in advance.
I honestly wanting to know it as well, its something that I really like even more when it has different colors and not only white as in some motorola versions.
If anyone don't mind please let us know if it has the led notification please!
I can't see any led lights on my mate 30 pro
Nope, there is no notification LED .
I'm using this at the moment,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe&hl=en
Not very robust, still learning how to configure it, and doesn't have the same flexibility as lightflow.
Damn that's sad I know it might look sissy but no volume button, earphone jack and notification led might make me think a bit more before buying it
It's not big problem for me - AOD works very well and informs me about everything.
