Any way to get a brightness slider Notification Window? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If there is any apps that give this option or anyway to do it without to much modding I would greatly appreciate the info! Im stock rooted with FK no roms and dont really want to have Roms yet (waiting on full PA) I would really just like the quick option of pulling down the notification window and change brightness and be done instead of clicking through buttons to get to a slider or clicking through brightness profiles ala Power toggles which can be clunky.

Well, not sure what you would consider too much modding. I'm stock rooted with stock kernel. The only tool I ever need is Xposed Framework + Gravity Box. It's super easy to do what you are looking for with regards to brightness in the status bar. In fact, it's even easier because you don't even have to pull down the notification bar. There's a setting in Gravity Box that allows you to just slide you finger along the status bar (without having to pull it down), and you can adjust your brightness quickly. I use this instead of auto-brightness, and it works flawlessly.

Yea I dont really know about xposed and all that Ive heard it can drain battery depending on modules and all that or in general. Maybe im wrong but even then not to sure about it. And there is an app that can do what you described but its not what im looking for because I can accidentally trigger it when pulling down notifications so I ditched it. Id rather have a brightness bar in the notification shade.

Ah. I see. Maybe something like this would help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49741707#post49741707? It's post #30 on that page. rootSU says he uses it with great success.
And for what it's worth, I don't see any significant battery drain from using Gravity Box. For example, I don't charge my phone overnight. So during that 9-hour period that my phone is "asleep," it only drains about 2-3% at the most. I have enabled quite a few mods using it as well. I'm thinking the people that see drastic drain are running another app that is keeping the phone awake, or something specific in Gravity Box that keeps the phone awake, or wakes it up often (something like keep the last screen on your phone queued up so when you put the phone to sleep, then wake it up later, the same screen will appear).

wondering if there is a way to hide an app

I am using juicedefender to help me squeeze out battery life and still be connected. It is an app I can't possibly do without... But there is a slight problem I'm having. I keep it up all the time, and there is a status icon in the notification bar and the drop down... Now some apps have in the options to hide them but this one does not, is there a way I could splice that in. I'm using droptheme and would like to be able to have a very clean look. Thanks in advance

Status bar brightness slider

Hello, I'm looking for a mod that adds the option of setting brightness by sliding across the status bar. To clarify, this is not the same as a brightness slider in the notification panel. You literally slide on the status bar with out having to pull anything down first. It's a crucial feature for me since I go in and out of the Sun a lot during the day. Thanks!
Viper ROM has it as an option so I know it is compatible with Sense roms. I'm running CleanRom now.
Tried GravityBox xposed module and it has the option but when I enable it, it doesn't actually go into effect...
Are you running the Kitkat version of it? Also you shouldn't even need to do this, the auto screen brightness adjustment on this phone is quite good and should adjust it properly for you even quicker than the status bar slider mod you're looking for can.

Yes, I was using KitKat version. The JB version won't even install on a KK phone...
I'd use Auto Brightness if I could set the lower limit to go all the way down to 0% but I can't find settings to customize that. Do you know an Xposed module that can?
In case you were wondering how to set the maximum automatic brightness level
A Google Search:
From the Home screen, tap > Settings > Display & gestures or Display, gestures & buttons. With the Automatic brightness option selected, drag the slider to set the maximum brightness level. This sets a limit on how bright the screen will be when Automatic brightness is selected.
Great answers.
How can one add this feature?

Battery saver mode

I just wanted to create this thread to see if other people would like this change or any developers would possibly be able to make it a reality.
Basically I love to get as much battery life as possible as we all know it sucks on the s6 so on every 5.1.1 rom I used I always had power save mode enabled however in 6.0.1 the status bar has changed to grey and personally I do not like this.

that is google's move actually. in nexus it changes to orange. maybe they want us to stop using battery saver because it won't save battery a lot and we lose lots of performance. So they change status bar to grey to remind us this is a power saving mode. don't use it always.
we need an optimized software + bigger battery for a better battery life. battery saver won't help a lot.
So I suggest you stop using it. 5% more battery life on power saver won't worth the performance drop

I've spent the last few days trying to understand why the bar was grey on my stock rooted DPAD ROM. I thought it was because I uninstalled the launcher and about 100 more apps. I reflashed the ROM twice using ODIN, and it was fine at first, then after installing, uninstalling apps and changing the settings it would turn grey. I didn't understand what made it change. This morning I saw that turning on Power Saving was the cause, and then I found your topic. Yes, it's horrible. It's even worse that there's no longer a switch for turning the Back and Recents button LEDs off.
However, if you're rooted and using Xposed, GravityBox will fix it, fortunately. I just tried it, and it gets rid of the grey overlay on the status bar, but there's a minor issue: if you're in an app with a white action bar, the icons and clock won't invert color, so they'll be white on white.

That's a widget thing only. Remove it in back-screen-setting.

i want to say , its Status bar ( download icon, wifi, clock, gsm,...) not is widget notification.
I fully second this. Also after like an hour of inactivity, clocks on the EPD stop updating properly. For example its 01:21, but the clocks on my Y3+ (updated from Y3) still show 01:03. Only the clock on the status bar are correct, but first of all, I don't want the status bar on my EPD, and secondly they are too small to consider them convenient at that point anyway.
Would really, really love to hear about solutions to both of those issues :-| The status bar has no reason to exist on the back of the phone. I just wish Y3+ was just a Y2 in regards to the EPD.
workaround for me is to enable the lockscreen with the second screen app but just leave it empty - so I just get a blank white screen with the locked icon and nothing else - most importantly: no statusbar.
most of the apps I use on the e-ink side have fullscreen support, so it doesnt annoy me during actual use.
but yeah, bit of a weird thing to not give us any settings for.
Ye, for me, the "actual use" for a phone with always on screen is seeing a nic clock (and other info) on its back. Thats the most important, seeing clock/weather/notifications/potentially other widget thingies (I inda liked the step countner on the chinese version). But the status bar is something that's not usable "at a glance", its too small for that so it has no place there.
But lately, I'm most annoyed by the clocks not updating properly when the phone is in sleep mode for a few hours, I can't trust the clock anymore, f*ck I hate that about it so much.

It's a late response, but I'm glad I'm not the only one with the time sync problem. I miss the YotatHub clock and battery widgets :-(
I finally discovered how to fix it:
Go to Settings -> Battery -> Click upper right 3 dots -> Choose 'Battery optimization' -> Choose clock app -> Click 'Don't optimize' -> Click 'Done' and you're done! Now your clock will always update

Is there a way to force status bar icons to the right?

After days of searching for a way to force proper full screen mode WITHOUT the thick black bar I finally found one. However, it puts all notification/status icons already on the left under the camera. I'm so close to a perfect solution but this one thing is in my way.
Ideally I'd like to move all icons right but messing with the padding might be a good plan B.
Please help. It's driving me mental.
If you are referring to any notification icon and/or the clock, there really isn't any way to move those without doing a bunch of work on a rooted device creating your own theme basically. Also what thick black bar are you talking about for fullscreen? the bars are only present if whatever is being displayed isn't a 20:9 ratio. so any 16:9 (like most 1080p) media will get the bars. but everything else should be full screen by ensuring Setting>Display>Advanced>Front camera display area is on the right setting.

That's disappointing.
I have managed to move the clock to the right with edXposed via Gravitybox. It's just notifications now. Don't suppose you'd know if it's possible to disable the icons but still have notifications for those apps show up in the notification drop-down?
And that camera display area, when enabled, is the black bar I'm talking about. It's unsightly and a waste of space. Using the mod I found, all apps but Ookla Speed Test fill the ENTIRE to screen beautifully with no essential UI elements blocked by the camera. Landscape or portrait.

Only thing I can think of for the notifications is make them all "Other" instead of important. you would have to do that per app and per notification type that each app shows. Long clicking them in the drop down gives you the option to change it there. But that also means you need to enable "important and other notifications" on lock screen if you want them to show up there.; however, I can't find a way to allow "other" notifications to display on the Ambient display. I do use the AOD notify app and that could be a nice workaround for that as that will still light up for notifications that are labeled as "other" over the Ambient display and you can then color code each app to what you want.

Thanks for the tip. I changed the media apps I use to not important and that seems to have taken care of my issue for the most part.
Its not a perfect solution but it's the best and most helpful so far. Thank you, mate.

Hey @shadowofdeth, I have bought the OP8 recently and I too wish to reduce the height of the status bar(I don't mind the punch hole using the app space since most apps have the logo only at the top left). You said you have used a mod to reduce the space. Was it the edXposed or is it something else? Thanks in advance
