[Q] Unlocked, Trwped and looking for a rom to run - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings, I recently unlocked and will be rooting my wife's Asus tf300. Main reason being it seemed to running slow and jerky considering the specs. It was on 4.2.1, it's now unlocked, and has twrp 2.5 installed. I'm looking for some suggestions for some roms which are fast, light and as close to bugless as possible. Thanks in advance =)

Cromi-x is your best bet mate but the hydro is giving sbdags a run for his money

Does Hydro work on TF300TG? I have it downloaded but after being burned by both Grimlock and Xenogenesis, I kind of don't have the patience to try yet ANOTHER rom within my first week of owning the device...

no mate its just for the tf300t but there is a grimlock that was made for the tf300tg and cromi has a kernel for the tf300tg too so did you pick the right ones?

So what he is saying is that he can't follow the instructions that everyone else managed to fine?
Anyway I'd love to know as I have never known anyone catch fire or get scorched whilst flashing my ROMs

I managed to install the roms; however:
-Grimlock disconnects from wifi every 15-20 seconds - it's not that the wifi radio turns off, it just loses connection and attempting to reconnect gives me a Failed. Turning off wifi radio and turning it back on gives me connection for another 15-20 seconds.
-Xenogenesis seems to take the crazy-screen problem up to 11: I get rapid-fire random inputs in the webcam side of the device for no reason, with no real way to get it back to normal. This occurs both with thatkernelv3 and 10.6.2.3 TG kernel.
Yesterday, I flashed stock 10.6.2.6 and although it still has crazy-screen, it's defeatable by just locking the device and unlocking it again. And Wifi stays connected!

it sounds like you might have a hardware problem mate

Yea man, those are some funky problems. That's the first I heard of any screen glitch and hundreds upon hundreds of people are running CROMI.
I've also never heard of the wifi issues on GRIMLOCK from the like 5 people that use it lol. Did you try the newest 1.3.1 version?

Unable to get wifi working on CM9 stable for tf300t

So I decided to try out the Cyanogenmod 9 for my Transformer pad tf300t. Did as the instructions said using twrp 2.0 and booted up and everything. The wifi however would not work meaning it sees that wifi is available but will not connect. I tried using the latest nightly version still no success. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I went back to my nandroid version feeling a little bummed that I cant get this thing going and share in the excitement of more and better features.
Also goomanager no longer works properly as I can't get it to search for available roms.

what country settings are your wlan router/ap and your pad are set to?
i had a similar prob because i used channel 14 on my ap and my pads and phones didn't see them untill i set them to the same country.
cheers

I am not sure but when i went back to stock it is working fine. I am in JA but i purchased the tablet in the US so it is the US version. But something I noticed between the CM9 and the stock is that the stock showed the wifi version while the CM9 didn't. I was reading about that as well that a fix is to probably change the channel but how do I do that?

log on to your router/ap and there should be a wlan settings pane - and select a channel >12 and you should be ok.
otherwise i would suggest you try termleechs BAKED rom - i haven't tried it myself since my pad will arrive only next week but from what i read it rocks (and his aokp one rocked )
cheers

Thanks don't think I said that. My goo manager was giving trouble yesterday as well but it seems that resolved itself. now I wish I had waited for jelly bean to come out before rooting and unlocking my bootloader. I trust that developers will be on this though

I will have my new TF300... advice?

Hi there (sorry for my english)
After my Nexus 7 (returning because of the screen lift and touch problem) and the return of my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" (don't like this tablet) i will have in few days the Asus Transformer TF300.
I've read few post here about problem with the update to Jellybean. But does this update is official? I mean, when i turn on the tablet, does this one indicate me that a update is available and start downloading JellyBean?
I like JB (from the Nexus 7), but the problem that the tablet don't wakeup after sleep or the random reboot... What to do with that?
I don't have the keybord, i've just buy the tablet itself.
Thanks!
yes its official and it is buggy as hell, avoid upgrading and wait for a more stable one

Holly sh#t... even if i don't have the keyboard? I've read many problem with the keyboard... but i will not have this one... so with the tablet itself JB still buggy?!?!?
Does a rom of JB is more stable? I don't care to don't have a official rom... i.ve rooted my galaxy soooo many time, i'm not affraid... but if you know a stable rom to flash my (future) TF300...

Not sure where you come up with this.. Sure there are some bugs but I have yet to find any more bugs than were already in ics. That's just me though.

What i've read, and what came the most of time, is the lost of WiFi (need to power off and reboot), the «sleep of death» and the random reboot.
Please, does it's real of not?
jb is fine for me with or without the dock, its just as stable as ics
JB is stable.
It has some bugs but ics also had bugs. I also dont have the dock and JB is better than ics on ly tf300

Anyone else got Firmware Update 10.4.4.23?

Busy with nothing I simply pressed the button to check firmware update for my TF700T. Then a notif came up telling me to install an update. After a temporary unroot I did what it said, and now I'm running Firmware 10.4.4.23-20121127, mine is WW. Root restored without any issue after rebooting.
Can't really see any changes (yet), probably have to dig deeper.

I've just installed mine but have not seen any difference. Maybe preparing the way for 4.2?
Could anyone upload the dlpkgfile for ww??

I did an Antutu benchmark, before update I was getting about 13300 or so, now I am getting 14400. I also think they have unlocked 1700 mghz for all cores except power saving obviously.
Got the update too, nothing too obvious seems to have changed.....
And I forgot to backup the dlpkgfile, sorry @geri.st

Just noticed the 1700 mhtz being available again. Otherwise I dont see any noticeable difference either. There's still lag and choppiness as .20

For me this is the greatest update so far. Tablet is much faster and did not find any bugs yet. Prevented me from unlocking for some more time.

You haven't seen the performance of Cleanrom and Clemsyn kernel yet. I ran the .23 version and it's no where near the performance of the Cleanrom/clemsyn combo. I went back to stock just to see the .23 perfornace, but after one day, I'm back on Cleanrom/Clemsyn kernel.

From what I've read I truly believe in you. The problem is that I didn't use NVFlash when possible (had already updated the bootloader) and I don't want to risk unlocking and flashing ROM's for now. The tablet is not sold in my country and if I brick it I wouldn't be able to repair nor to buy a new one.
I am not a newbie on flashing ROM's in general because I still own a HD2 but I do know there are risks on the process.
Thus, I will probably wait for the 4.2 update to decide between unlocking it or not.

I hear you, you do have a point!
I agree that this update really improved the speed of my tab. Might not be clean rom fast, but it's still warrantied fast
It's a bit faster now. At this rate we'll be fully happy with the speed around April. For me it does what I want it to just fine So what if I have to wait 1 second instead of 0.5 second for an app to open? And the very, very rare (no, I don't get them a lot. once a day, at most.) ANR messages are a whole lot less irritating than the constant "Are you sure" UAC rubbish I deal with daily on W7. (technologically impaired clients. Ugh.)

I, too, am not risking unlocking. While it is for sale here quite regularly and the EU covers warranty concerns, I bought it from a store that's not known for its great customer service (Media Markt, for you dutchies&germans.) and I didn't get a chance to use NVFlash. (By the time I heard about the idea, the first update had already auto installed. ) I'm also generally rather unlucky when it comes to electronics, stuff tends to break. And I need the tablet for work, so I can't afford to have it send out for repair for weeks if I mess up.
@ShadowLea
I have exactly the same problem as you, but Media Markt isn't good for repair?
Must I unfreeze all system apps before the update?

Yes, you must unfreez all system. Any modification to properties (build.props) file also needs to roll back. The device must be in the "stock" condition or update will failed.

[Q] Return to factory default after putting ROM on

Hey guys,
I got a Transformer for Christmas. It came with JB 4.1, and I did a firmware update after I got the device. I'm not certain whether I'm going to keep it, but I want to see how much CM10.1 would improve it before I decide. However, if I still decide to return it, I need to be able to return it to 100% factory default condition - meaning factory default Android + removing CWM.
Is this possible? If so, how?

TF300T is an awesome tablet (good value for money), but when you install CleanROM Inheritance 3.0.4 + untermensch's overclocked kernel (1600 Mhz instead of the default 1200Mhz) it is so much better.
I bought mine probably 3 months ago and have no regrets at all....it is unlocked / rooted and has CleanROM installed.and I did a factory reset and removed all the bloatware and junk apps which I would never use.I have used Untermensch's kernel but currently it runs again on stock rom cause it is fast enough for me.

Price check?

Hello everyone. I just wanted to check to make sure im getting a good deal here. Someone is on their way to me with a 32gb tf300 with dock, car charger, and boxes in supposedly near perfect shape. Is $280 usd still a good deal for a 32gb version? They will be here in an hour so any quick feedback is appreciated
Also, I know the screen isnt as good as the tf201 which I previously owned, but ill primarily be using it indoors to watch netflix on rather than my note 2. Im going to guess its more than fine for that purpose right? Ill likely be NRGizing it

Thats exactly what I was looking for. I wasnt sure how much the 16 and 32gb are going for Looks like I did get a deal indeed as mine is the 32Gb model ! Right now im running NRG's rom though. It was fully updated to 4.2 when I got it but luckily I found the TWRP specific to it that worked. I may take the time today and downgrade it though. Im not sure if its the BL or what but this thing is terribly laggy. It was worse with Cromix than with nrg's. Ive read everywhere that people recommend doing the fastboot downgrade to 4.1 ( to get 4.1's bootloader i assume ).
Thanks all for your input

When i buy any electronic device on craigslist, i use the manufacturer's method for wiping it completely clean and starting over. For you, that would be factory reset from TWRP (include wiping internal sdcard) fastboot the latest official blob file from asus, flash TWRP and then install the ROM of choice. You never know what the other guy did with/to it :/

Already done my friend When I first got it, it was bone stock but fully updated to 4.2. Stock worked smooth but Cromi and NRG seemed to jitter / hiccup when i FINALLY got twrp working. Im thinking it had something to do with the bootloader and rom combo. I just used FB and went to 4.1 and installed TWRP 2.4.4.0 as that seems to be the combination that works well. Im currently downloading Cromi again to give it another go. What kernel are you using ?

Im running the Stock moddified 10.6.1.15.3 kernel on my own ROM. Granted there is SOME jitteryness, but in all honesty, it more than likely is the app. Facebook especially, it tries performing background tasks to update your news feed, and im not sure whats with them but they fail to use the dual core and higher of the device. 99 percent of the devices are dual core or higher, i find facebook to only wanna use the main core -.- causing the most amount of lag.
