[Q] stuck roaming after flashing - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

i flashed the new cyanogen mod stable 10.1.0.1-d2vzw and now my phone is stuck roaming. I have tried flashing back to stock and even got a new sim card and activated it still nothing any ideas?

welcome to the party
after doing research, i have seen most people are able to get service by odining back to stock then dialing the factory reset number...however, you will be stuck in roaming service
to fix that i'm yet to confirm...
one solution i have read about is using adb and doing an nvreboot as the nv ram is corrupt (probalby showing 0 for imei, none for eri, and zero's for meid)
another possible solution is using this tool

Try changing the modem to the one you originally had (assuming your phone's mobile network did work before).

I had the same thing happen with my wife's phone, posted a thread in Q&A
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338170
Turned out that flashing the CWM KJ6 modem was causing the phone to not see the SIM card. Not sure if you are having the same issue. Reflashing Valhalla 1.3.2 resulted in everything reappearing and the phones been fine since. Check your mobile networks tab under Wireless and Settings. If it tells you to insert a SIM card to log on to available networks (you already have your SIM card inserted) then reflash the GB ROM and don't mess with the modem - that should fix it.
EDIT: Once I lost the SIM it didn't matter which modem I flashed it wouldn't come back. Reflashing the whole ROM did the job though.
ALright thank you for the info i am going to try this right now
now while trying to install the GB again in ODIN im gettin a fail.
now i have the firmware upgrade fail screen.
I read this is still fine for installing GB on ODIN , so i tried again. Still getting fail. i read that you can remove your sd and sim card and it should work. still getting fail!
can anyone help !
im folling the instructions to a T.
Hit PDA add the zImage-root.tar file
getting fail

alright i got it now, turns out the zimage-root file was corrupted.
Im using a mac and transfering the files to a old window laptop without internet connection =p

[Q] Need help : Com.Android.Phone failed

I have a Verizon S III (Stock, Rooted). I was travelling internationally with it and was using it on GSM (using HiAPN app). It was working fine and then Com.Android.Phone failed msg popped up. I lost outgoing calls due to that. I tried various things and ended up doing factory reset. Now when the phone powers up it tries to activate and fails as I still get the com, android,,phone failed error. I also flash JB rom but I still get the same msg.
Any suggestions in this situation?

Did you do a full wipe and flash the latest JB rom or just re-flash the JB rom and leave your settings/apps intact?
Did you switch your sim when you went global? Did you switch some phone settings? Did you use a program to alter your APN (?) settings? What did you do to go global?
If yes to any of the above -- that's probably why. You need to be more informative in your post. Your post as is basically says nothing.

Yes, I used a local SIM card. I used a program called HiAPN to switch APN settings and changed the network from CDMA/LTE to GSM/WCDMA preferred. ,

[Q] WiFi not working

HTC One XL on Telstra
I just updated my firmware to 4.1.1 and I can connect to WiFi without a problem, but I can't load any webpages. It's basically been rendered useless since the update. My computer(s) can still connect to the same network without a problem and load pages.
I can also access the modem settings from my phone, but I can't seem to get any connectivity. I used WiFi to update the software also.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Did you flash the new radio too?

When you say you upgraded your firmware to 4.1.1, do you mean that you installed one of the Asian JB ROMs? Did you try forgetting the network and re-adding it?

Interesting, I did not now a Telstra update had been released.
If you tap the wifi connection, do you get an option to forget it? Have you rebooted your phone?

Telstra released 3.17, their JB update on Christmas Eve as planned.
Was your phone standard before you updated?
Eg were you running stock Telstra software prior to the update it offered you? You should not take over the air updates unless you are running standard software to begin with.
I dont believe anyone else is having this issue and many many people have updated.
Try resetting your router? Personally this sounds like a modem issue.
Forget the network and readd, while adding click advanced options and make sure your IP settings are correct for your network, eg DHCP.
Try resetting settings on either your phone or router?
Contact Telstra regarding the issue and if they have any solutions?
PS. on a second thought it sounds like DNS is not working. You should try to prove if it is your router or phone that is stopping DNS from working.
I agree that it does sound like DNS, can you check the DNS resolution or toggle the DNS servers.
Try dialing:
*#*#526#*#*
It is supposed to reinstall the wifi driver
I am having an identical problem with my telstra one XL.
I have tried 3 different modems so it is definitely not a modem issue.
I booted in safe mode to see if that would help and it didnt.
Dialing *#*#526#*#* didnt do anything, once i input the last star it just clears everything i dialed.

You are making this out to be more complex than it is.
Look you have 3 clear options:
1)Complain to Telstra (who will likely suggest #2 "data reset")
2)Do what others suggest to fix the problem, eg data reset
3)Do not use wifi.
Complaining to Telstra is the correct thing to do as perhaps they can get HTC to release a fix for it?
But a fix from Telstra is unlikely to be timely. If you want this resolved soon do #2 or #3.
Hey, I think I'm having the same issue. I'm sending this from my tablet over wifi, however my phone will not connect to the internet on the same network.
The network configuration is Modem > Router > Device, and I can access (log in, change settings, etc) the router from my one xl, but not the modem, nor the internet. Quite strange...especially as it is the same network over which I downloaded the JB update, so it clearly was working, but now isn't :/
Anyway, hope the extra info helps

No Data Connection

Hi everyone,
Could really use your help. I tried updating my phone to Lineage OS and post update, my phone's data connection stopped working. I've tried flashing different firmwares to see if it fixes the problem and it didn't. I went back to my old backup, and the problem continues. I can't access any data connection (no phone, or text either).
Any idea on what could have caused the problem. My steps were basically:
Backed up old Sultan 12.1 Rom
Installed Lineage using TWRP 2.8.7.0
Installed latest Gapps mini
Installed the bacon_firmware_update_2015_05-15_DI.3.0.c6-00241.zip
And data problems began
Now i've tried redoing the steps with the latest recovery and it doesn't change anything. And as previously mentioned, I'm having data connection problems in my old backup as well

Yup, I reverted back to my old backup and no flashing of firmware, and it's still messed up.
Found out that my IMEI isn't showing up so that could be the problem. Went through "the entire internet" and found some fixes, trying them now to see if I can get something to work.
Edit: I flashed to CM13.1 stock. But my IMEI is still not showing up. No idea what to do next. My phone connects to the network, but doesn't let me do anything considering it can't find an IMEI.

It's not just your imei,it's your EFS and modem.

Are you talking about flashing stock from the thread you linked above? I'm not on the stock firmware from the fix above, I'm on stoch CM13.1.2.
Should I go back to stock CM11 from the fix above? Or can I just extract the sbl1 file from the package and flash it in fastboot?
Okay, I finally got my IMEI back using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-efs-partitions-how-to-lost-t3307793, and flashing stock oxygen OS through their recovery rather than TWRP.
But now, although it reads my sim, my phone doesn't connect to the internet, and when it does, it doesn't connect to 4g. I still can't use data services despite having the baseband and IMEI fixed. So now what are the next steps? Could my hardware be broken?

I installed lineage, still no data connection. Honestly about to give up on this phone. Is there a good stable rom that I should use?
I've tried Lineage and now Sultans CM13, but still no data man. Just my sim stuff is acting weird, and i know my sim is fine. I'm switching carriers and ordered a new sim. I'm hoping somehow changing carriers helps, otherwise I'm **** out of luck.
Edit: Ok, so on Sultan's CM13 I've finally got the data working, but it only works when its on H+ (4g) otherwise no internet/voice/ text. So is there a fix this?

4G is Lte not H+(3G).
Yeah maybe OPO doesn't support the band your carrier uses for data.

Nope, not the case as I've been using the phone for the last 2 years. I read up that the switch between H+ and 3g happens because the carrier only sends data through H+ not 3g, so it happens to every phone, not just the OPO. But now my problem is, I can't send texts over 3g.
I'm going to wait and see what happens when I get a new carrier's sim.

Thanks for the help guys, I think in this case it was more of a carrier problem. I learned that Wind has been updating their infrastructure causing some network problems. Couple that with a finnicky OPO and you get headaches.
My new carrier seems to be working better (but I've only had the new sim for an hour). Going to do a full day test and see what happens.
Thanks again.
