Hello there,
I currently have a problem whereas my phone is stuck on the HTC Logo. I only unlocked the bootloader and I tried flashing a recovery with a htc all in one toolkit, this didn't work for me so I tried flashing it manually and this didn't work either. I need to somehow get a recovery on this phone else I might be bricked :/.
Anyone have any advice?
Can you access the bootloader?

Yes that is the only thing, and when I do a factory reset I can acces CWM, that's all there is. I have acces to a micro SD if that helps. Currently on clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0.
I want to try to copy the viper 3.0.1 rom on my sd, put it back in my phone and flash that. Would that work? I didn't have S-off yet.

Okey, so CWM is working but you can't access Android.
If that's the case you should try to run a RUU (it is carrier specific if you have a branded phone!).
Or you can S-OFF it, make yourself SuperCID and then flash a ROM. (This will most likely void your warenty)

My main language isn't english, thats why it is hard to understand how to get S-off. I tried having a look at Juopunutbears method but I got stuck because you needed root first. And I thought that i had to get root by flashing cwm. I would love to root this phone and install custom roms, I can always go back with an RUU. Can you tell me what the next step is?

May I ask what your main language is?
I'm not sure but it may be enoigh if you just flash supersu libs with CWM and then try juopunut's method. It may work even if you can't boot in your ROM.
For the RUU you'll have to google for "Htc sensation ruu vodafone" together with you country. Or you could look up your CID over fastboot by typing in fastboot getvar cid and then combine the cid with your search request. This would be the safest Method.

My main language is dutch, Where can i find supersu libs? I'll try that out and then go for Juopunut's method.
Only thing I need to get now is root so I can start doing the juopunut method
edit: Clockworkmod wont let me mount the usb storage OR mount the SD card. So theres that..
Download this zip http://download.chainfire.eu/204 , put it on your SD and flash it with CWM. Then try Juopunut.

You'll have to look up your bootloader version. You can see it in the bootloader on the top. If the number is 1.2xxxx then you have to do this method. If it's 1.1xxxxx then there is a much esier method to get S-OFF.

Just do juopunut without the temp root. As far as I can remember you don't have to access the OS in order to get S-OFF.

Everything went well, flashed the superuser, went to use the program to get S-off, tried using the wire trick but it failed a few times. Turned it off and had to leave, after that won't come on again, won't boot at all. I'll plug it in the wall overnight and see what happens.

It worked! I am now locked and s-off on hboot 1.27.
Left the phone plugged in without battery/sd/sim and it booted up again this morning.
I am now S-off but every time i try to flash a rom I keep getting into the juopunutbear screen.

Probably won't work. Had exactly the same problem he has. First I flashed this Frimware (3.33) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 (don't forget to set SuperCID before that!) and then I wiped my phone, formated System and flashed the ROM I wanted to have. I hope it'll work for you.

I rooted with the Rev after running the newest RUU and I tried the S-ON zip file but it doesn't return me to S-ON... plus my hboot is at the 6.17. I'm trying to run the S-ON file and the rerun the RUU since I noticed your note that stated the RUU should be ran after the S-ON file... Do I have to root it one again to be able to return to S-ON? I don't think the root should matter since that's on the software level... I need to return this phone asap as my replacement came in... Any help would be appreciated!

I don't understand what it is you did. But what you need to do is:
First, flash a stock (unrooted) ROM. That'll unroot you.
Second, flash the modified HBOOT (6.17) to S-ON.
Third, flash the stock (unrooted) ROM from step 1 to restore stock 2.16 HBOOT.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, that's what I've been doing. I flashed the RUU then I did the S-ON file which looks like the phone took it as I did not get any error msg and it asked me to reboot. I reboot then I pull battery and reboot back to bootloader to see if the S-ON saved but it didn't. Though the Revolutionary pink comment is no longer there, it's still S-OFF...
I will try again though and hope for the best!

Nope, that didn't work. Still S-OFF with the 6.17 Hboot. I figured I'd try to root it again but as noted, Rev said I was already S-OFF but it couldn't flash the recovery for me and told me to flash my own recovery via fastboot... I haven't done that since the Evo was released...
This is driving me nuts... Even if the phone isn't S-ON, wouldn't the RUU change the Hboot back to the 2.15/2.16? I'm at wits end on what to do...

Hmmm. The RUU will only roll back the HBOOT if you're S-ON - because the signature verification is disabled when NAND is unlocked. It just looks at the version number, otherwise, which is why you're stuck.
Have you tried flashing the unrevoked S-ON zip in recovery (you'd need to flash a custom recovery again) and see if that gets you S-ON? Since you're not rooted w/Revolutionary, it could work. I'm really not sure why the modded HBOOT didn't re-lock your NAND. Maybe you should try a different version (I can link you to the one I initially posted, though that may have been the one you used).
Oh this is interesting... so whenever I run the RUU... it turns the hboot back to 2.16 but as soon as I run the S-ON zip and update, it turns it back to the 6.17 hboot and doesn't turn it back to S-ON... I saw the following for returning the Evo 3D's back to S-ON and was wondering it'll work for the Evo 4G?
Then open Command Prompt/Terminal on your computer and navigate to where fastboot is located (on my Windows 7 computer, it's C:/AndroidSDK/tools/. Now, type in the command:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Once this completes you can go into your bootloader and should no longer see "S-OFF" at the top of the screen. It will read "S-ON."
*edit
tried to do the fastboot thing, didnt' pan out... tried to root and S-OFF my refurb'd unit and back to bone stock and that went fine... think there's just something wrong with my phone... guess I'll just return it and hope for the best...

I am really a noob at rooting, though there are easy steps. However this confuses me. So if anyone can find a very good guide for rooting my Sensation XE running on ICS, that is noob-friendly.
EDIT: All I need to do is to downgrade my HBoot version to 1.17.xxxx - but I want to find the easiest way to do that.
EDIT2: I unlocked my phone's bootloader. Doesn't help with S-Off though. :/
I will have to wait for Revolutionary to update their tool so that my phone can S-Off (since my phone is 1.27.0000)
May I can downgrade my phone back to Gingerbread, but how? And it looks risky, will that can brick my phone?
I'll press the Thank button if your post is helpful enough.
I have found this to be a very useful guide with ICS https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KEQCpmcLGjbkeLmVU0mpLSwZvjNqLSAmNBqyKMus3Ag/edit?hl=en_US
You may also want to check youtube for the unlockr video tutorials, they typically refer back to xda, but will help if you need a visual reference.

Maybe you will try to use Unlock Bootloader from htcdev.com but I can't make sure because I already S-OFF before rooted. But if you find a way to S-OFF you may would like try method above which I use.
I hope you have been s-off before update because unrevoked won't support it right now. If it show LOCKED on bootloader, this is how I root my Sensation XE.
1. Unlocked the phone using htcdev.com account since no other's method seem possible right now. But if you device already unlock you do not have to do this.
Go to hTCDEV register, click "Unlock Bootloader" and follow the instruction.
2. Install custom recovery, since htc recovery won't flash/install flashble zip correctly. For this I use "Android Recovery Manager". Reboot the phone after unlocked process. Connect the phone with usb cable. Open the Android Recovery Manager > Start > ** Download a recovery ** > HTC Sensation > ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.0 (Pyramid) > follow the instruction on the software. If stuck when device reboot to flash hboot but not yet flash it because can recognised the FASTBOOT(Android Recovery Manager waiting for FASTBOOT). Take out battery, reconnect usb and boot to FASSBOOT.
3. Flash the supersu, as the Android Recovery Manager finish flash the ClockWorkMod you have to install Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip. If fail retry flash 2-3 times, but I am just done 1 time, before on GB I flash two time because fail at 1st time. And now you rooted and reboot your phone.
Try at your own risk.
Summary :
Download Android Recovery Manager and Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip, place the Superuser-3.0.7-d-signed.zip on sdcard. Unlock the phone on htcdev.com, install custom recovery with Android Recovery Manager and flash the supersuser.
* use Superuser version 3.0.7 because the lower version won't support ICS. Use link given and download the right version.
I am using this method on Sensation XE, so try at your own risk. I will not responsible to anything happen. And please do make sure you backup your device first.
# Just hit the thanks button so I and other's will know this method also work for you ;p

I'm assuming you didn't flash the firmware yet right? The easiest way to flash a firmware is to get super cid (11111111). Go hereand follow step 4. Then you can flash this without worrying. The second link is just to the 3.32 firmware.
didn't you super CID? try to super CID...follow fourth step here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
then get the 3.32 firmware. your CID will be 11111111 so anyone will work for you.
your main problem is the firmware, don't worry

Ya seems as though all of the links are down grab a 3.32 firmware from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 Just place the PG58IMG.zip on the root of your sd and press the volume down and power the phone should automatically detect the zip and ask to update. Make sure you have a good amount of battery.

Does your bootloader say fastboot USB?
Look mate, your Hboot ver is 1.27 S OFF Revolutionary which means you have the right firmware installed. If you really want to be helped, tell me what recovery you're using.

Good. You will now be installing 4ext recovery.
After recovery has been installed, reboot to recovery.
Select wipe|format.
Select format all partitions except SD Card.
Then install your ROM.

It's "PG58IMG.zip" not P"S"G58IMG.zip. If the name is incorrect, then it won't work.
You cannot do it from recovery, you must do it only from bootloader.
The reason I'm insisting on 4EXT is because it's much easier to use.
Follow my instructions properly.
And if you find all this difficult, just go to my tool, link in signature.
When it asks you to connect in HTC Sync mode with debugging enabled, just boot to recovery instead.

Ok,
So I've used roms on my hd2 and one x, so I thought this would be simple on a friends sensation, oh how wrong was I.
I have unlocked the sensation via htcdev, installed clockworkmod and installed pyramids jellybean rom.
Now I have all sorts of issues, the rom boots then drops somehow straight to clockworkmod. I can't mount the sd card within clockworkmod to try a different rom and the phone is now useless, doh.
How can I fix this please guys?
Did you update the firmware? Are you s off or s on? If your s on you must flash boot image. Download 4 ext recovery, enable smart flash in 4ext. This way you can flash boot image. Please read flashing roms with s on. Also for that rom the firmware must also be upgraded. Let me link you to the guide to flashing roms with s on. This will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
Someone more knowledgeable than myself can give you step by step instructions to get you out of this pinch. But in the mean time read the link I posted about flashing with s on. It will help in the future. Best wishes not to worry I'm sure you can fix this.

HTC Dev doesn't really unlock it. It only partially unlocks it.
It doesn't s-off the device so you don't have access to the system partition, meaning you can't properly install a custom ROM without a few extra steps. And I don't think you can do it at all with clockworkmod. You need 4EXT Recovery which can flash a ROM with s-on. There's a few extra steps to doing it but it works.
You also have to make sure you have the correct firmware. So if the device was previously on a Gingerbread ROM and you didn't upgrade firmware, it won't work.
Now, the part where it boots then drops back into recovery is weird.
Tell us exactly what steps you did so we can better determine where something went flukely.
I'm CERTAIN it's fixable though.

Will 4EXT allow me to mount the sd card?
Yes it should
Also some roms require 4ext it's a super easy touch recovery to use. You can download from here or the playstore.

Yeah I'm certain it's fixable too , just not sure how, lol. I'll give 4EXT a shot. I have no idea how or why it drops straight to clockworkmod either, I would expect it to reboot to clockworkmod if anything, but it just kind of switches from the rom straight to it, very odd.
If you could point me to a firmware I might need I would be very grateful.
It is universal 3.33 let me get link also 3.32 will work on most ics roms but 3.33 is the newest I'm running jelly bean and use 3.33

If you are s-off you shouldn't have to flash boot.img separately. It will do all that with the ROM flash.
Maybe that's what's screwy. Though a borked up ROM still shouldn't affect SD card mounting in recovery...that is really weird. Do you have a card reader that you can use to check the card out in your computer? I'm wondering if somehow you screwed up the card when flashing the ROM. Maybe it wont' mount because the card isn't formatted properly anymore. Stuff like that has happened before.

Yes if your s off you simply flash from recovery without boot img. But do update your firmware.

hboot 1.18.0000

S-ON
As far as I was aware S-ON just prevented the boot.img from being written via recovery, which can be done with adb. So the only reasons for these issues must be firmware version right?

Hi,
It is a pity you went to HTC to unlock your phone.
I wonder if you can still s-off using revolutionary.
You are going to need to run a RUU,and hopefully get a working phone again.
Try and find a RUU HERE that matches your area and carrier.

Yup. If you have the 1.18 hboot you have Gingerbread firmware, which won't support Jellybean or ICS.
The good news is that you can flash a gingerbread rom and get the phone back to a working state right away if you need to get the phone back to the owner.
The RUU to restore is pretty simple. Then Revolutionary s-off proceedure is also extremely painless.
Reverting back to stock and starting over to s-off shouldn't take more than 15 minutes if you do it right. Then flashing the ICS/GB firmware (3.32 or 3.33) takes 3 minutes. Then the new rom takes 3 more minutes.
Just make sure you RUU to gingerbread and not to ICS. The ICS Hboots are harder to s-off. It's worth adding the extra step to flash the ICS/JB firmware later.
This is driving me nuts, tried 2 ruu's, both failed, if it was my phone it would be out the window!

Then I ran moonshine.

He probably cannot downgrade from *.17 to *.11.
I don't know what parts of the firmware moonshine needs. But you could try downgrade using a OTA or Nandroid.

It took me 5 hours total to begin finding all req's and trying the above method, finding it not to work, redoing the RUU *.17 and getting BACK on CM10.2 and having a phone to make calls with. The method above took maybe 20-30 minutes of double checking and making sure i didn't miss something.

PM'd him for more info. Thanks!
So I was having problems getting s-off as well, eventually I got it done, but it was definitely a big trial and error process.
What I ended up doing was:
1) Get the 3.14.531.11 RUU from http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=Ville (make sure you get the TMOUS one) This link is also provided in the first post in the Android development section
2) I ended up using Moonshine S-Off (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325590) but I needed to use it in conjunction with running it on Ubuntu. Luckily I had a spare hard drive lying around. If you don't, I believe you can run it through the CD as well as long your burn the Ubuntu.iso on a disc. Plug in your phone to the computer and let it do its magic
3) From there, if you wanted to, you can change to SuperCID. Since you have s-off by then, you can change it from the fastboot usb in the bootloader with the line fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (double check, i'm just writing off the top of my head)
4) Then install roms and etc through the usual custom recovery
Note. I tried the Maximus HD, yes it was nice, but it didn't allow me to utilize my phone as a hotspot, so I ended up using the Dark Jelly rom instead. So far it's been very nice. The hotspot works, but the tethering portion is still unavailable. Just my two cents.
I had a hell of a time getting S-OFF pyrocide
