Can't be done. You have to unlock to get root on AT&T JB.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4

Stop trying random root methods. This is the only one that works on the 3.18 firmware:

Technically speaking, the Motochopper method is a temp root that allows SuperCID. Then you can unlock the bootloader and get perm root.

As I have already stated, this method is the only one for 3.18.
You were asked what version(s) of Windows are on the computers you are trying, but you didn't answer. If you want the proper help, you need to answer all questions posed to you.
Also, if the USB ports are USB 3.0, and the computer has a 2.0 port, try the 2.0 one. 3.0 is known to cause connection issues for some. Also try different ports (aside from 2.0 versus 3.0). For some reason, using front ports versus back ones (or vice versa) can sometimes cause issues.

If your having this much of an issue. Your not ready to root the phone. There are reasons phones come locked, so people who don't know what they are doing don't screw it up. I suggest reading ALOT more then attempt it. You need a grasp of fastboot and adb commands. If that's over your head just enjoy the phone stock

Temp root for latest OTA 2.3.4.?

As the title implies, wondering if any of the temp root methods work with the latest OTA update? I know I could go permanent, but I usually only reboot 1 time a week and I don't mind stock right now. I really just want to use Titanium and freeze some apps.
Thanks

You would have to start by using the HTC Unlock Bootloader process at http://htcdev.com.
Once you have HTC unlocked, then you can install ClockworkMod recovery and then flash and install the su_2.3.63.zip to root your ROM.
Just use Revolutionary as everyone else does, works fine

BUT not my Sensation w OTA 2.3.4
I am somewhere around a noob or a noob=, but I have tried so many times to root my Sensation and no joy. I have downloaded the Revolutionary "ui" and I only get a brief flash on the cmd window.
I have read that I need to do this 2 or 3 times to get it to work, is this true? Do I need instead to place the revolutionary code at top of the SD mem card? I also previously ran the SDK and got all the way to the congratulations step but nothing else was said to perform, am I lost or did I move to noob- from noob+?

@Chh, use HTC sync on your phone when you plug the usb cable to pc, run Revelutiinary.exe as administrator, it should work. If you're on Windows 7 you may need to reinstall the drivers and run in compatibility mode XP with service pack 2. I had a few hiccups while rooting two different Sensations and this method worked for me. Hope this helps.

The latest OTA update for 2.3.4 has a new hboot version and Revolutionary does not work with this version because HTC has closed the previous root exploit. That is what the OP has been asking about all along.

The tool works with the latest hboot 1.18.0000, but as per my post above you may need to run the tool 2 or 3 times before it works. You will get an error about a comms error and to go get some lemonade. Just reboot phone and rerun the tool.

Rhiannon, wow you are right about the Windows 7 shoulld be run in XP comp mode. I made all the progress in the world even being asked to enter my beta key, however it was rejected (several times). So I will do a fresh download of "revolutionary.io" and unzip it do the XP comp & admin properties hopefully they (the people who make revolutionary.io) are doing some kind of timestamp checking because I entered without any errors the key. If that doesn't work don't know where to turn. Oh by the way I am using a TMO USA OTA 2.3.4 update and the phone has the TMO unlocked bootloader. Yes I installed the new HTCdriver files 3.x x x something, too and removed the HTC Sync.
Now what?
Permanent root does work with revolutionary with an OTA 2.3.4 updated phone. I did it

I'm a noob. I followed the guide and rooted a 2.3.4 phone with Revolutionary just like everyone else. No issues. Phone is running great.
One thing that wasn't clear to me however, was that you need to put the files on the SD card as a zip file. I was being a bit over helpful and extracting them first. Didn't work until I figured that out.
@cch copy and paste the beta key, it's case sensitive, do this by copying the beta key then in the Revelutionary command window, at the top left hand corner right click and choose paste, the other steps I gave you were working so your entering the key wrong. That's the only thing it could be, it took me a Fe times to enter it correctly. Also, Revelutionary will boot into fastboot and it will loose communication, you will have to do it 3 times and then banjo, s off. I hope it works for you. These are they exact steps, it worked for me on two different phones, also the Revolutionary site confirms it is working on the t mouse 2.3.4 update, I had the same ROM as you.
Glad if i helped. Hit my thanks button. Thanks.

It is possible, but it is a lot harder. It's a lot easier to port roms such as from the EVO 4G LTE, One S, etc. This is mainly because the interior of the endeavoru is a lot different so it takes a lot of work to sort out modules, libs etc

[Q] Can someone help unbrick my phone?

Hello,
I hope someone can advise me what to do to unbrick my phone. First of all i´ll post phone details,
HTC ONE X 16gb ATT
HBOOT 1.14 unlocked -ON
2.20 Stock ROM
Rooted
TRWP Recovery 2.3.1 wen it the bootloop happen, now it has 2.3.3
Ihad succesfully rooted my phone than I came accross an JB RUU from europe and tryed to run it whilebootloader was unlocked and got an error after a while after it tryedo to push the file, My worst mistake was that I thought I runned a backup and did not.
So when I go to recovery mode on TWRP I tryed to push a custom ROM thru the mounting usb feature and it asked me to format the drive, after a while trying it I said &%$· it and format it, I can now load smal files but not ROM because of the size I judge it, it gets stuck on the transfer bar at around 10%.
Since I thought I wasnt going to be able to fix it I just went and wipe everything even system.
Do I have a $300 dls. paperweight now, or is there still hop for it?
I appreciate your help.
Let's get you a fresh start than you can do some more reading.... Go into bootloader than click fastboot now on your comp navigate within a command prompt to where you have your fastboot files stored and type "fastboot OEM lock" that will lock your bootloader and than grab the 2.20 ruu and run it while in bootloader mode and you'll be back
Same thing I was gonna post, to slow lol

Also, next time don't flash anything for the international One X unless you want a real brick.

Shoul I leave it runing all night long?
By the way is it normal that there isn't any progres bar on the phone.?

It's far from dead, that's for sure. First off, Is this an international quad core HTC One X or a Carrier locked dual core HTC One X? The two models vary greatly and before we can proceed this is crucial to know. In your hboot it will either say endeavor or evita if you are unsure just post which one it says.
What recovery/version are you using? What hboot version? Are you S-On or S-Off?
Once you answer these questions, helping you will be easy as pie.

I seem to have the same problem. Let me specify.
My One X (international) will enter hboot on boot, and unless USB is disconnected it will be stuck on 'Checking SD card update...'. So when I disconnect my USB it will enter hboot, and from there I can also enter fastboot. However, when I reconnect USB and enter fastboot (or the other way around, it doesn't matter) fastboot freezes. It will un-freeze as soon as I disconnect the USB. ADB can't find my device, and neither can fastboot on my computer (running Linux), even though they both could in the past.
My One X is RELOCKED (as it displays at the top of the screen at hboot) and it also prints "Security Warning".
Regards,
Joost

Root has nothing to do with camera. What ROM do you have on the phone?

I've checked it. Still don't know what do you want to achieve. And you didn't say which hboot do you have and which ROM. You just want root on your phone? For this you need to have your bootloader unlocked (at HTC Dev site) and then have a custom recovery flashed (latest TWRP for ex) and after that flash the superSU zip.
You can try by using one of these tools that make things easier: WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit or All-In-One Toolkit
You probably had something messed up during the process. After flashing a custom recovery, you can flash theoretically any ROM built for your hboot and most of the ROMs here are pre-rooted (have root included).
TIPS: Use a Windows 7 PC with USB 2.0 ports, Windows 8/8.1 and USB 3.0 have issues on certain configurations.

ROM name should be in the About Phone section. I really don't know what you've done there, rooting does not break camera. It seems you flashed some boot.img during the process as it looks like by that batch file you used. Maybe that has broken something in your ROM.
You could try flashing another ROM to see if the problem still persist

Theoretically yes. You could also reflash the ROM you're using now.
