[Q] Need advice wheter to flash custom rom or still on stock? - HTC Butterfly

Dear user,
I would like to see your advice whether should I flash a cutom rom like NOS_v2.0.0_X920E or to still run stock?
My device is HTC X920e with unlocked bootloader, S-ON rooted and TWRP installed.
Are there any advantages to go for custom rom? I know i'm running and there are some chines app installed even we delete it removed it using other advance apk or ultimate backup.etc, but after restart the phone, thos will be auto installed which is very annoying.
But maybe you can help bring some more reasons why we should still on stock or custom one.
Thank in advance and feel that in HTC butterfly's forum seem silent and not more developers like to pay much here.

Fell very lonely here
Edited: decided to flash right a way. running custom rom now...

phone's really not that famous to devs out there. so far I've used the NOS ROM and nothing else. not much to choose from, that is. but the ROM's running great for a daily driver.

[Q] Rooting my android

hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

Thanks now I think there is no way to turn back. Can you or any one please tell me which rom I will go for.Cause My Htc G1 is not T-Mobile version ,it is from Rogers.i know there are a lot of thread about it ,I just need to focus on that rom which is the most stable and will work all functionality of the phone.

[Q] ROM suggestions please

A friend of mine just got a droid 2 global and wants to install a custom rom that is very stable and fast, with no bloat. I personally am a sprint user with an EVO 4G, so looking through the development section is a little greek to me. He just rooted, and intalled CWM Recovery using something called bootstrap.. not sure what that is, but he seems to be rooted fine and can boot into CWM just fine. He a few states away so I am helping him by telephone.
Can anyone suggest a good rom to install. I don't think he is looking for a MIUI type ROM as this is his first android phone and wants the real feel of the android OS. Maybe a good ROM/Kernel combo would be great. Thanks!
There are a few floating around in the Dev section..

Help me -noob questions

Hello xda. My friend recently ordered an one s and he asked me to make his phone good. I'm from another forum(u8800pro) and i post ROMs there so i don't have the time to work on this phone and I'm asking you here.
1)Is there any 4.2 ROM? If so is it stable?
2)In case he wants 4.1.x what's the best option for a guy that knows NOTHING about android?
3)Which is the best kernel for 4.1.x?
4)Which is the most stable ROM for daily use and hard gaming anyway?
5)How to root it?
6)Which recoveries are available for this phone?
7)What is the ROM flashing method for this phone and what is hboot?
8)What is needed to flash a ROM on the phone exactly as it comes out of the box?
Any help is appreciated because the phone will arrive in 2-3 days.
-UPDATE its an S4
Thanks in advance!

To answer any of this you first need to know if it's a S3 or S4.
Because this determines which ROMs or recoverys you can flash.
Sent from my HTC One S running TrickDroid 4.0

CM10 would be your best bet then and you will need to fastboot the boot.img and TWRP is the best recovery to use.

I'll never understand the deal with CM.
Personally I dont like it at all. There seems to always be at least one important feature not working properly.
I go against the stream and say, if hes not used to android I think rooted stock with maybe a different kernel would be more than enough for him.
The only downside with stock rom is that it lacks features for the more advanced users (like the majority on this site ).
Other than that the stock is actually pretty damn good.
Its by far the best stock rom Ive encountered, but this is my first HTC device though (unless you count my old QTek 9100 )

[Completed] Rooted HUAWEI ASCEND Y220-U10 Custom ROM Compatible?

Hey guys I am fairly new to android and really new to this rooting and custom rom thing and I've been doing my research with what a rooted android w/ custom rom could look like and what it could further do.
I was hoping that my rooted phone is compatible with Custom Roms like Cyanogen Mod, AOKP, etc. Unfortunately my phone isn't listed in any listed devices in the well known Custom Rom Sites but I still proceeded with installing Cyanogen Mod since everyone seems to be using it. I don't even know if there are more of these eye candy useful mods that makes the ios look miserably locked up while hoping at least one of these custom rom is compatible with my crappy awesome phone. But upon installation process of Cyanogen Mod WITHOUT awareness that it really isn't compatible, it stated in that page that I could (STILL)use their Custom Rom at my own risk. Beyond that I stopped the installation process in fear of destroying my phone.
I was wondering whether you guys could enlighten me about the compatibility of Huawei Y220-U10 to Custom Roms. I've seen Huawei Y210's on youtube that's using a custom rom but unfortunately ALL of them who's demonstrating their phones are speaking in Spanish. I also installed ROM Installer but I can't seem to see 'FEATURED'? Maybe because it's the free version?
Now I am willing to take the risk, starting from the bottom meaning derooting my phone, wiping it clean, rerooting it and flashing that Custom Rom but I'm seeking advice from much more experienced users because if you guys tell me that it is a BIG NO NO I guess I'll just have to stick with the Go Launcher and wait until I get a much better, stronger, faster android smartphone which has a friendlier compatibility to everything android. And how come I can't access facebook nor yahoo from any web browser in my phone? is it a virus? Please clarify my theories.
Much Regards, Jom
P.S. Phone is running at 2.3.6 and rooted with Kingo Android ROOT
Hello @Jom Apa Welcome to Android / XDA!
"BIG NO NO!" You can't flash ROMs not made for your device because of the underlying hardware incompatibilities. You might completely kill your phone.
Give me a few minutes while I search for ROMs you can use
UPDATE: Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any custom firmware for your device nor Github entries for the chipset used. Seems you'll either have to stick with stock or create your own custom ROMs there are a lot of support here on XDA, Let the learning begin!
Cheers!

Can i update my desire s?

Newbie here! Hi! My question is. Had a desire s sitting in a drawer for ages because the battery wasn't holding a charge. Bought a new battery, but its running really slow even after i did a factory reset. Are there any new updates i could download for it please? Its currently running android 4.0.4 TIA for all and any help!
Look at the Desire S Android Development. There are a lot of good ROM choices. Just need to be S-Off or have an unlocked bootloader plus a Custom Recovery installed like TWRP or CWM. If you do then you can choose between the ROMs available. There are a ton of it. Just need to try which one fits the best for you.
I'm currently using Sagasation V2.0. I just removed the Samsung stuffs in the ROM even the Launcher and installed Nova. I also did some CPU Overclocking. I can say this is the best ROM I've ever tried. Really fast and can stand to be a daily driver. It's Jellybean 4.2.2 by the way.
Thanks! Will give it a go!
