I have been searching around the forums to no success. Some threads say it is near impossible, others say the files are located in such and such directory. In the end i came to the conclusion that for my device it would be impossible. But recently i flashed a new rom and when i plugged the charger in i noticed that the charging animation had changed. So in THEORY it should have been a file within the ROM that i flashed that has chaged it, but i cant find any files that seem to match it, so where should i look?
Im using a Galaxy S2 4G GT-i9210T.
Thanks for any help

yes you can change your charge animation just go to /system/"find where the folder named chargemon located at then if there's a data folder there replace the files inside it usually the files are made of .png files
Like this one.
That's exactly what I'm looking for! But I have browsed through my system files and searched for chargemon and I can't find it anywhere :/. Is there another commonly used location for the battery animation? thanks

That's quite a bit hard for me to distinguish because i don't have the same device as yours, I'd even search the net for the files but can't get any leads maybe you should ask the development thread of your phone and they can answer it correctly where you can place those animations
OR
if your patient enough to look for it in your system or some other places on your device, you might found it also

I will have to get onto some people who own the skyrocket, because our roms are based of theirs. Although one thing i did find when looking through a Stock-rom-turned-flashable(??) i found 20 qmg files labelled "battery_recharge_5" directly in system media. So that might be a hint

Hi All,
I have modified this Boot animation for I9003 using files from one for SII. This is animation of PC booting also there is a audio file of booting.
This should work on all stock GB version but you need to be rooted. I have tested is for XXKPH
Follow the steps given below to use this animation.
1) Attached Zip file includs "CustomBoot.zip" which has 2 files in it.
bootanimation
samsungani
Copy these two files to "/system/bin" with Root Explorer Or ADB or File expert. These files must be Executable.
ie. Permission should be executable
rwx
r_x
r_x
(r=read, w=write, x= executable)
2) Copy the file "sanim.zip" to "/system/media"
3) Copy the file "PowerOn.wav" to "/system/etc"

Thanks to Animal Lover for his base files.

Any idea how to fixed?
Guys, don't get carried away by what you see on screen. The info you see is played from images, which is loaded into your custom boot animation. Its not real time info of the files being loaded from your mobile while booting..... That's not possible here. Its possible on pc.

That's true, These are just images (aprox 150 files) running at 30 images per second.
There are two bootanimations available on Android Market made by Chainfire which gives you actual log of boot. dont know exact names right now, But these give scroll of Dmsg and LogCat command at boot. Search for Chainfire in market and you can easily find it.

Just a bit of handy info if your wanting to test all the different features of your custom rom. HTC have a self diagnostic tool built in to all of they're android handsets. You can access this by simply dialling *#*#3424#*#*. It can test everything from data connections to the hardware of the device. It can be used to help work out if you have hardware issue with the handset or even help pinpoint issues caused by 3rd party apps or customisations you have made.
Nice, any idea what's the exact .apk for this? Maybe there's a way of importing it into other custom ROMs for fun.

There isn't any need. It's included in every HTC android rom although it would be interesting to see if it worked on another manufacturers handset. Unfortunately I don't have one to try because I've only used HTC's since 2003.

Just so you know you don't install it like a normal .apk. You'll need to put the files in /system/app. the only way to access it is with the code on the first post.
Darn. I pushed both files to the /system/app folder and typed in the command. No dice.
I was hoping to get this thing to work, I think my good-old desire is starting to go! I need to verify.
Has anyone got this to work? Mine does nothing when I select it for current location. Weird.
Not sure either, I think it only animates when the weather is rain. Although there is a mod in the verizon dev forums that enables animation for all weather variants but I'm not sure if it works for ATT.

well despite the apparent dozens of threads I hadn't seen one, thanks for pointing me to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54487822&postcount=207
I just installed this and works a peach, I now have a sunshine animation, yay.
for those who are going to be confused by this, it's a flashable zip, which since we don't have a proper recovery, doesn't do us much good (although the fake recovery should be able to flash this, I haven't tried it)
you can open the zip and remove the apk and odex files and manually install them, reboot, and you'll be greeted with a lock screen animation for your weather. Tested and working.
Note: if you lock the screen before rebooting, systemui will continually crash
Yea I forgot to mention that you need to delete the odex and replace the apk with that one from the OP in that thread. That's the way I did it even with us having the recovery. Glad you got it working.

It's actually called LGKeyguard (why that is, I couldn't tell you). That is the correct .apk and .odex file, I just tested it out and it does work. I just renamed the 2 in /priv-app with a .bak extension (LGKeyguard.apk.bak for example) and moved the 2 new ones from the zip file into the folder. Just make sure to set the permissions the same as the rest of the files in the folder. Once you get the files in there, reboot and you should see the new animations.
When I download it, it only has the apk in the zip, not the odex. Are you leaving the original odex intact?

No, the one I downloaded had both the apk and the odex file. Make sure you download it from the post that specifies it's for the stock/odex ROMs, and not the one from his OP.

in theory it shouldn't matter, when you reboot if there's no odex it should make one, and if the odex is wrong in anyway it should remake it. so really as long as you get the apk in the right place with the right permissions and reboot all should be be fine ( the apk from the odex version, I think this might matter)
Worked great, thanks

Mine shows rain and thunder/lightning. However, once I ditched the stock weather widget (without freezing it uninstalling it), for "weather timeline" I lost the animations. Looks like you have to use the native weather widget for animations to work.

This is unbelievable but I've just been from one end of the internet to the other (even used Bing!) and can't find anything at all about how to change the splash screen on the n9005.
Anyone here knows anything about it?
Is it simply an image file (like in the S2) that can be replaced? if so, anybody knows the path? file name?
or is it encoded into the kernel?
I'm lost!
Please help?

I have been trying this since 2 years back using my S3, but failed. In previous version of Samsung devices it was pretty easier as the developers came out with an app to mod your splash screen. By they way, the splash screens are in qmg format. In current devices, its not possible. In fact I tried asking one of the developers to mod the splash screen and the rejected my request as it can cause your device to be dead(sorry I couldn't figure out any better term ). Its a risky, impossible process
Hi, it is possible to create your own animations to boot from a zip file.
For this you must look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-create-qmg-boot-animations-t2217795
For your information the file you are looking for is in the system folder / media / shutdown.qmg
You can either create bootanimations that splash screen with the software.
I hope that this will help a little

Oh sorry I'm a little tired :silly:
splash screen...
Thanks for the replies guys.
So, no one actually knows for sure where this image is hiding?
My guess is that is is encoded in the kernel (and then can be modified by compiling a custom kernel) but I don't have the knowledge to do this.
In the old Galaxy S2 it was simply a jpg file (called "logo.jpg"). I wish Samsung has kept it that simple!
Any developers out there wants to take this challenge?
I've tried following the guides from all the reviews and tip and tricks articles online. I even hard rest my phone thinking I had deleted the app by mistake while clearing the bloat. I've used S-Search, Google Play store, Samsung App Store and I can't find it. This app is featured in the At&t product help video but it seems to not be accessible. I'm looking for help finding it.
Thank you in advance.
They removed it. Same as Verizon
Why would they do that? Is there a good app to clear out the ram and close unneeded running apps? I use to use Active apps widget on my S4 everyday. Is the best option just to restart it everyday now? Thanks for any help. Oh, I meant to also ask if there's a way to get this from Samsung and reinstall it? I couldn't find it on Samsungs website.
I found it in the settings, app management. It shows it using data and/or memory. But I can't get it to turn on or create a shortcut.
This is my first Android phone, came from Windows Phone ecosystem.
