I've tried following the guides from all the reviews and tip and tricks articles online. I even hard rest my phone thinking I had deleted the app by mistake while clearing the bloat. I've used S-Search, Google Play store, Samsung App Store and I can't find it. This app is featured in the At&t product help video but it seems to not be accessible. I'm looking for help finding it.
Thank you in advance.
They removed it. Same as Verizon
Why would they do that? Is there a good app to clear out the ram and close unneeded running apps? I use to use Active apps widget on my S4 everyday. Is the best option just to restart it everyday now? Thanks for any help. Oh, I meant to also ask if there's a way to get this from Samsung and reinstall it? I couldn't find it on Samsungs website.
I found it in the settings, app management. It shows it using data and/or memory. But I can't get it to turn on or create a shortcut.
This is my first Android phone, came from Windows Phone ecosystem.
I can extract apk if needed don't know of it will work for u though

Confirmed as working for non-rooted users
These are not Nexus One specific
I've tweaked the files a bit and they should install on a non-rooted phone now, all of the libraries are written to /data instead of /system. This makes the apks inefficient, the largish library is installed with every wallpaper.
It's entirely up to you of course and no, I can't do anything about the performance (but it's no different than the port for root users)...
Just install like any other app.
Note to root users: you're better off using the original version.
Thanks for this. Appreciate it. seems to work fine
Works great for me also...but lags the sh*t out of my phone..so uninstalling

So I can just place these apks in a folder on my sdcard, and install them with Astro?
I have an EVO 4G, Fresh Evo 0.2..I have not fully rooted.
Answered own question: Yes..you can do this.
Brilliant. So kind of you to do this. Thanks!

Yeah, you can just put on the root of your SD and install with Astro.
It works for N1 2.2 Froyo FR83 (unrooted) but even on the N1 it lags the phone quite a bit. I do like the dandelion one though. Maybe someone can optimize it for the other phones.
Thanks for the wallpaper though.

Well, users who are already using Android from a longer time, may not find this thread useful because they may already know the thing described in this thread. I'm posting this thread for new Android Users. New Android Users may not know how to install .apk files in their Android device on SD Card. Just follow the 3 simple steps given below and you'll be able to install any .apk file on your Android:
Step 1. Copy the .apk file to your SD Card.
Step 2. Get Astro File Manager from Android Market.
Step 3. Open the file in Astro File Manager.
Step 4. When the installation is finished, you'll find your app just like any other app in your device.
If you want video referrence, then you can see the video given below:

You forgot to say that you need to check install from non-market resources in app settings. That might be important for a new person to know as well.

I really like the google news and weather app that is on my phone. Is there any way to get it working on the Fire? I tried placing the apk in my /system/app folder and changing permission but upon reboot it was not showing up in my app drawer. There must be more involved.

I know what you mean. I pulled the APK from my HTC Inspire 4G and sideloaded it on KF. It even works with-out rooting. You have to give it a zip code to make it work, but thats no big deal.
If you don't want to type a zip code in and want to use geolocation you could install a modaco custom rom. The rom has built in network location and play store. You should only do this if you have already rooted and installed twrp. What you have now is probably fine.

So it sounds like you got it working then. Would you mind uploading the apk you used? Are you using a stock ROM by chance or something else on the Fire?
If you have play store you could download it and get the version for the kindle fire

Thanks, I will grab it and try it out when I flash back to a stock type rom. I am trying out CM7 right now and it has the app installed. Hopefully this one will work with a stock rom.
Thanks
Well I got it installed on the stock rooted rom I am running but it will not show up in the app drawer I can open it through titanium backup though. Seems weird it will not show in the app drawer. Unfortunately I have no way that I know of to get it to my favorites and not have to go through titanium backup to open it. Wiping dalvik and cache didn't work, nor did clearing the launcher data.
edit......
After rooting my S3, I got a little over zealous uninstalling all the bloatware. As such, I mistakenly deleted the alarm clock (ya know, the one that works with S Voice). Does anyone have the apk for the stock touchwiz alarm clock? The only downloads I can find are modded versions ported for other phones.
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to download a stock rom and search the zip. Normally they are located in the \system\app directory. Make sure you match permissions with other system apps.

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck

i have an app installed (from apk file, not google play).
recently i got an updated version of the application (another apk file).
is there ANY way of installing the new version next to old one without overwritting it?
i need to use both versions at the same time.
Why use 2 versions? If its the same app, it will do the same thing as the old one.

JK sounds like youre doing a comparison of versions....but of what?
You aint special.
i have an app that i am using for watching tv from my satellite platform provider.
they released an updated version of they software with new functionality but they took away others. i would like to use new things but also still have an access to old functions.
but excluding the duscussion if is it reasonable or not...
can it be done? and how?
.
Hi,
Backup it with titaniumbackup first, then install new version.
If updated app is not working, just restore the old one.

the files have different name.
Probably they have the same signature or ID or whatever identifies it in Google Play.
Is there any way of changing the parameter identifying the app?

I am not completely across with programming but I have no clue what I should do next Well... I've never played in programming for android and haven't played in modding or any stuff like that.
SO, Can you guide me what I should do next?
What is activity folder name and where is it stored?
Which entries in smali files are activity paths?
I'll understand if you won't help anymore as it may be too much to go through... honestly, no worries...
