Hey guys
SGTs are getting cheaper each day and the new removable-tablet-screen-laptops are too expensive at the moment.
So I was thinking about buying a tablet and turn it into a netbook with a cheap ebay keyboard. I am sure I am not the only one with this idea as there are many ebay bids on tablet keyboards...but are there already users that can tell me if this is usable as a daily driver or is it just rubbish and money thrown out the window? Can you use the thing to write mails and docs or does it make life more complicated?
I already searched the forum and find little about this and I am not sure what to think about the youtube vids...
Would be glad to have a straight answer! Thank you!

Thank you, I apreciate your answer. I was thinking about buying that one, cause the other models with a leather case around them seem to have a too small keyboard.
Yet I didnt open the thread to make people help me about the choice of my keyboard, but to tell me that it is usefull to have a netbook made out of a tab?

it can be i mean i pretty much use my tab for school with the keyboard it feels like a net-book, but there are some fordable windows 8 tablets that are much better as use like a netbook. i would go with the gtab it can sorta get into a case looking feel i wil have to show you some pictures in a moment.
As you see from the first two pics the keyboard is starting to ware off in the 3rd it sits very nicely in it. I have troubles trying to take it off sometimes xD and the last its nice to have some room to charge it on the dock when your not using it.

Thank you so much for your upload!
I can see that it is quite the netbook u got there! Nice!
How long did u use the keyboard until the color came off?
And another important question: can you change the keyboard layout? I use to write in qwertz...
Thank u so much. You are really helping.

hey guys i recently bought the Viewsonic G Tablet, and i'm probably gonna take it back as i am not entirely pleased with it's performance, i was wondering what you guys think is the best tablet out there right now, excluding the Ipad, as i am not down with apple! thanks guys, and if there is a thread already dedicated to this topic i am sorry, the search function would not work for me. any and all input is greatly appreciated.

Whats wrong with the gtablet? Did you try installing a custom rom on it like CM? I'm actually planning on getting the gtablet because I think its the best thing out there right now for the price.
well it's nice don't get me wrong, but before i invest permanently in this device i just want to make sure there isn't anything better out there. I would like to own a device with a little more developemnt on it already, I'm not sure if i'm expecting to much, but like i said, just want to make sure, i like to "test drive" multiple devices before making a commitment. yes i've tried the tnt lite and the vegan.
The xoom that is coming out looks to be very good, but might be expensive. The asus tablets also look promising. I have heard good things about the Adam but its hard to get and thus expensive. If you like 7inch screens the nook color has a great dev team but the hardware is very low end.
If I was u I'd rather take it back and wait till the Xoom comes out. I have sold my Gtab last week as I am saving money for the Xoom
yeah the xoom looks amazing but 1: I refuse to pay a monthly data plan for a tablet when i already have one for my phone, that's dumb. and 2: I read that the xoom will be $800 and I also believe that that is dumb, i really don't want to pay more then right around $400....

i havent seen acer tabs, even on their website.
got links?
i looked all last night for options
the xoom looks ok, but like people said - no wifi only and 800$??!?! wtf??
adam looks alright.. but its running 2.2.... i dont just want a bigger phone
so i searched around and looked at the asus ones coming out. and i think that is where my cash is going to go.

I'm buying my first tablet but i still can't decide yet.
Or an Transformer or Galaxy tab or anything. But the price is not an issue here.

There are a number of good threads in this and the Q&A forums that are much more eloquent than I could ever be, but yeah, I have barely (and then, only reluctantly) put my Xoom down in the month and a half since I got it. It's so easy to unlock and root and there's a lot of development happening for this tab. Plus, it's built like a tank.

But you said it for me. Its like a tank!! Like they built it for the army or something. And its a fast one

I know I'll probably get stick for this but these threads really bother me. There are probably 50 of them going right now. Just take the time to look at the ones that are already open, my guess is you'll learn more about the Xoom than just starting another "Why should I buy the Xoom" thread.
because it's rad and you're a geek.
ok ok. Still have 1 week to decide.
yes I'm a geek And i really like tanks.
it was this one or the Galaxy tab 10.1.
I think as long as you stick with one of the android tabs you can't go wrong. In my opinion it blows other tablets out of the water, so far as user community, and potential for development.

Galaxy tab 10.1 is like a plastic toy soldier, well all plastic really, and the ONE magic do-all propietary port. hurray!! Xoom has micro-HDMI, micro-USB with host mode, and the charging port wich is the same as nokia's but on a different voltage...
And yes there are plenty of threads like yours around you should read them or you might get the gods, trolls, orks, rats and critters upset.
Because ipads and OVERATED! Simple.
you should buy a xoom because i bought one...Nah
Because android is freedom.
Hey guys, i was wondering what you guess as a group think of this tablet, is it bad? would you change to something else? What are the current issues? Are they fixable? The normal questions.
i have absolutely no problems with mine and am loving it. the development community is great and they are putting in allot of hard work to get really great features. ASUS sends out firmware updates often and keeps them opensource which is really nice. If you do go to get one try to get a model that says B60 it seems to have the least problems. If you get a B70 there is about a 50/50 chance you wont be able to root because of some changes asus made. Most if not all of the issues people reported in the early shipments have been fixed. you may have some lightbleed but that is pretty much standard on all tablets.

may i ask how to and where to look for the B60/70 number at?
should say it on the box near the serial/model number
i'm also quite happy with the tablet, the dock makes it a very viable netbook replacement for me, the (so far) consistent updates from asus are a welcome change from samsung's poor support. the only small gripes i have with it are more related to honeycomb's unfinished/rushed/beta state, but i'm hoping those issues will be rectified in ICS.
I love it but frankly if you won't use the keyboard dock extensively, I recommend the tab 10.1

On the Box. it will be the beginning characters of the serial number.
I do think the best feature of this tablet is that it has a dock.. makes it a good netbook replacement (or so I'd think, only had a laptop before this!).
In terms of computing ability, it's probably at, or slightly better than my laptop, since my laptop is pretty damn old in technological terms (3 or 4 years old, so like 10 technological generations ago!).
I do miss some things on the TF. Netflix (which I'm going to root and use, once I feel ready to void my warranty), the ability to play one stupidly addicting game, and programming environments. Actually, it'd be awesome if there was an app for G-code/Labview/MatLab, but I guess I could always root and get ubuntu for those.
thanks guys! im still looking into tablets. My spending limit is 400 so this one looks to be the best out there right now.

Super: I've had a Xoom and a Tab and now the TF. For the money you will not find a better tablet. Very functional tablet and you couldn't ask for better developer support than the TF has. This tablet is a winner.

thanks! i am getting this one tommorrow as far as i know, and i know to look for B60 as will in the serial on the box. If it is B70 ill still get it if thats the last one they have. As far as storage goes i think the 16 gig will be PLENTLY for me, if not i have a 8 gig SD card.
Does anybody have it yet? Could you please leave your comments and first impressions here if you do?...
The pen works very well on the note 10.1. It feels more natural than the s pen. I actually Bluetooth it to my galaxy note 5.3. Sound quality is excellent and the people I talk to can hear me very clearly. All in all a great device. Can you live without it? Absolutely, but it's fun to have.
Thanks for the feedback.
1. Does this pen allow pairing with more than one device at the same time?
2. Does it house the 10.1 stylus inside, like the holder for the original N7000 Note did?

No. As far as I can see it only pairs with 1 device. Can't read Chinese instructions though. It doesn't house the stylus. It's a separate stylus. Comes with its own bag of plastic nibs.
Anyone else got this? Could you please leave your feedback? Thanks.
I've ordered it off of ebay, but not received yet. am anxious to read others reviews as well.
The BT s-pen has the same function as the normal s-pen. And it is a bluetooth headset with vibrition for incomming calls. When you press the phone button S-voice opens. Say "call Annie" and Annie will be called. Great !
Where to order one

Got mine off Ebay from Korea directly... No english instructions but then its not too hard to work out...
Charge until led turns blue, start bluetooth on Phone/Tablet, search bluetooth.
On pen, hold dial button for 3 - 10 seconds, tablet will pick up, Can't remember if I needed to enter pair code but "0000" usually works....

I finally got my hands one one of these yesterday - awesome. I also got English instructions with mine
1. Yes it supports two devices at the same time (Multi-Point) I have mine paired with my Note 10.1 & my Note 2
2. Yes it holds an s-pen inside - there's some instructions for re-assembling it and a picture. I don't know if it's the full s-pen inside though and I'm not going to take it apart just to find out.
It's got the proper feel of a pen and is much nicer to write with than built in one. Works great with s-voice as well and sound quality is good.
My poor s-pen always stays in it's slot now.
Also one proud owner here Got mine for about 30 usd. Really like to use it over the standard Spen. And what is more cool than talk to your pen, haha.

From this shop I doubt... in fact they don't have fixed prices and you can bargain. I have years of experience on this in China so not easy to fool. But I didn't find this pen in China and there I think no chance to bargain for such original products, at least not much. So I was suprise to find it here and be able to set a good price. I also bought the original flip cover. Or it just could be that they try to ripoff all the white faces they see

Update, there's 2 on Ebay.com right now. I think only 1 is under $75 AND a US seller. When I search I only want US sellers. Hope this helps. You can set up 'saved searches' and even 'notifier' when the item matches your wish.

That is a nice looking keyboard but for me I prefer having the keyboard in a case. I have a tablet bluetooth keyboard but it is a pain to use because it is not attached to the tablet. Also makes it a pain when travelling. Having it all in one is a major benefit to me. I would imagine it won't be too long before other keyboard cases come out.

Wow that's either a very useless post or a shameful plug for some random website. Either way ill assume they don't carry the specific keyboard folio the op is looking for, and not go to that site ever.
