Just bought a unlocked att lg optimus g...I put my t mobile sims card everything works but my data?? Everything is enabled.... I called t mobile they said it would take 3 hours for the data to come on... Its been 6 hours no data yet.... whats going on with my phone?
Have you checked your APN settings? If you don't have t-mobile in there, create a new APN with:
Name- t-mobile us
Apn- epc.tmobile.com
Mmsc- http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
(Everything else left as-is/not set)
After saving the APN, make sure it is activated and then turn your phone off for 5 minutes and back on.
FYI, you'll probably only get 3g/4g if you are in an area where they've upgraded their 1900mhz sites. This is a limited area so far but growing. Otherwise you'll be on edge.

Hello, I bought an unlocked version of the sensation originally from bell to use on AT&T. I had an iPhone 4 which had a mini sim and went to AT&T to switch it out, they gave me a normal sim but the data didn't work. I went there today to ask them about it and they tried to manually put in the APN settings, but had no luck. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks in advance.
Do you guys think this is AT&T's problem? Could it be a problem with the sim change because I got text on the new phone saying"thank you for upgrading your phone" could it have taken away the data?
Just call them and check. You should be able to add the unlimited non smartphone data for $15 and still get the same 3g speeds. Tell them you switched to a dumb phone and give the sensation imei if they ask. Their system won't be able to recognize that you are using a smartphone.
If you need apn settings let me know, the default wap.cingular should work fine.

Ok
I've been trying to get this to work all day.
Spent two hours on the phone with AT&T
No luck.
What I have, my microsim from AT&T iPhone 4.
I put it in a htc one s purchased from amazon.
I can make phone calls and text, but no data.
Called AT&T.
The lady spent an hour messing around with mobile
network settings, APN settings, and I still have nada
Any ideas or help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I've searched various forums, etc.
Nada
I've reset phone at least 3 times.
Did the person who unlocked it do a crappy job
Would it still make calls and text if it wasn't unlocked.
Thanks.
1) APN settings. are you sure you've CORRECTLY taken care of that? use wap.cingular if you have grandfathered 3g unlimited plan, or use the "phone" apn if you are on HSPA+ plans. I know you said you tried apn settings but your problem really sounds like it originated from incorrect apn
2) are you using a EU or t-mobile based rom? I tried both and data works on both. but it disconnected periodically on a EU-based rom. When I was on the stock t-mobile rom, I popped in my simcard, deleted the original t-mobile apns and added my ATT apn, and data started working
3) even though my data works, sometimes its funky. The up and down signal would go on and off. To fix it, I need restart the mobile network (switch to wcdma only then back to wcdma/gsm auto)
I'm on TMo and my phone started acting the same as far as i know today. Unlocked and rooted, went through and deleted the bloatware yesterday. Data was working night before and been on WiFi today, but when turned WiFi off then there was no data connection.

4.5. Unless your area doesn't have good 850mhz coverage.. then you're SOL with the EU version.
Luckily most of the towers in the larger cities in my area have been upgraded.

I thought the m8 was already Sim unlocked from the get-go.
Me too but I'm using a h2o sim (att) and I'm getting a non Verizon SIM error plus I can't send or receive pics...so I think I should say SIM unlock lol

Yeah, idk about the unknown Sim message. Are your carrier settings all correct? Other than that much I'm not much help as I'm strictly on Verizon
You need to put H2O's APN settings, just like you need to with ANY phone that you use H2O on. All Verizon LTE phones are SIM unlocked.

All current models may be, but this hasn't always been true. My previous phone, a Droid Razr MAXX, is LTE but would not work with US GSM carriers. It would work fine outside of North America with a locally-provided SIM, however.
Right, should have mentioned "since late 2012" or something like that. Point being though, his M8 is already unlocked.
All of Verizon's LTE enabled smartphones are required to be SIM unlocked by the agreement of the spectrum auction. The frequency bands they use for LTE are part of that spectrum. However, just because it's SIM unlocked, doesn't make it plug and play. You need the APN info for the carrier you are trying to use.
I took my Galaxy S4 to St. Maarten and rented a SIM card. Took me an hour to get it working correctly because the moron working in the store had no clue what the settings were. I had to call a number from their store and sit on hold with a CS rep for the carrier to get the proper APN settings. WHen you have a verizon sim installed, you cannot alter the APN settings. They are locked for VZW....but when you remove it and insert another carrier....well then you can enter them.

No, but I am a dealer. Make sure you are selecting the APN after you put it in too. Actually you should probably call them, you used to be able to just put in a single APN, but the last time I had to put in two different ones, which makes absolutely no sense since you can only be using one of them. If this doesn't work, give them a call...
Name: H2O Wireless (or whatever you want, really)
APN: att.mvno
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Proxy Port: 80
Make sure you hit menu - save, then select that APN. Do not put any other settings in or change anything else.

This app helped me big time when going over seas. Sometimes there are many apn's for the same carrier. Usually one will be for MMS

Hi all!
I unlocked my T-Mobile G2 successfully and took it to AT&T to get on the Go Plan.. The sales rep put in the sim card, money into my account and my call and text is good to go.. however there is no data at all.. I called AT&T CS and they gave me APN settings but still no data.. Ive seen people say they have LTE working on the same set up.. Any advice? Would flashing a stock AT&T G2 Rom work or would i get bricked?
Seems like the phone is compatible and uses similar bands.. At this point I don't care if it is 3G, 4G or LTE.. I just need data lol..
BUMP
I have an unlocked T-Mobile LG G2 and it gets data fine on the AT&T Network with H2O (an AT&T MVNO). Double check your APN settings, and make sure data and sync are enabled.
I got a tmobile G2 on AT&T as well (Cricket mvno) and have no lte. I get 3g speeds which tops out at 2 or 3 mbps but i get no att 4g speed.

I switched to Straight Talk (AT&T network) a few days ago and I get LTE (H2O only had access to the HSPA network of AT&T but not to the LTE or the GSM). Make sure you have LTE enabled in Settings -> Tethering & networks -> Mobile networks -> Network mode

Yes, I got LTE with a Straight Talk (AT&T network SIM) on the T-Mobile LG D801. I did have 2 issues with the service:
- Every now and then, right after I end a call I would lose signal for a few seconds.
- Once in a while data would stop and I would need to go to airplane mode and back to get it to work.

Are you running custom ROM or stock? What APN settings are you using. Where are you located? Sorry for the 20 questions just trying to get everything lined up and ready to go so when I get my g2 I will be ready to go. I already have all the software to root and flash custom recovery and my unlock code ready. Thanks for any helpful information you can provide

Do not flash ATT&T firmware on to your ATT&T phone.
You are describing the exact issue my bud had when he went to cricket. No Data Service. He called cricket and download a small package they sent through sms and then had him respond to the text with a pin. Fixed him right up. Call your service provider and explain the whole no Data issue.
Also, I don't know how you unlocked it, but if you used a method where you copied over files then that may be the problem.
I had a sprint G2 along with my TMO G2. With the sprint one I put a custom Firmware TMO base on there and it worked fantastic really glad someone made a sprint firmware that could support TMO. If you haven't tried this type of method I would. That could solve the problem.
This entire day has been hell.
After finally unlocking my phone, I went out and got a T-Mo Sim from Walmart and I am currently using the 'walmart plan'.
After spending hours trying to get the data to work on the phone, having to make an 'APN' to do so, I decided to purchase the mobile hotspot service.
Although the 4G LTE works flawlessly on TMO's network, the mobile hotspot option will not authenticate at all. I've heard things about how att blocks wifi hotspots regardless of a new carrier and you have to remove it by rooting your phone (my phone is not), a new APN must be set up to connect to tmo's mobile hotspot service or try using a tether app like foxfi (I've tried em all, that's why I'm here asking the question directly now)
I tried putting my Sim into my sister's T-Mobile phone and it worked, hotspot and all. I thought maybe something was wrong with my phone's software, I'm not sure but I don't want to factory restore just yet although I heard that this could possibly fix it. I am skeptical.
My phone isn't in horrible condition, and it's unlocked so I might just try to sell it and get a Nexus 5 but for now could anybody help me out
For reference my current APN settings are
