[Q] Some questions about android tv box rk3188 and his settings - General Questions and Answers

Hello
At the beginning I would like to apologize for my english.
I have mk888 / k-r42. Specification:
SoC – Rockchip RK3188 quad Cortex-A9 CPU @ 1.6 GHz + Mali-400 MP4 GPU @ 500 MHz
System Memory – 2GB DDR3 SDRAM
Storage – 8GB Nand Flash + MicroSD slot (Up to 32GB)
Connectivity
10/100M Ethernet
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with external antenna
Bluetooth EDR 2.0 (no have yet)
Video Output – HDMI 1.3 + AV output jack
Audio Output – HDMI + S/PDIF
USB – 2x USB Host
Ok and i have some questions:
1. I connect usb external hdd 320 gb and it's works. File managment will see him but XBMC and efps no. They have no choices to check USB mass storage. Can i fix it ?
2. I connect this box to pc and try rooted. I have windows 8 64x (i try on vista too) and i have problem with instal rockusb drivers. always i have code 10. I do it with this instruction:
=Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your K-R42(Settings -> Developer Options) - done
=Connect your K-R42 to a Windows PC via the mini USB port. (now only support rooted via Windows PC, no linux or Mac) - done
=Your PC should detect a new device, and try to install the driver. You can download the driver 'link' ( ver 3,5 ) - error
anyone have an idea how to get around this?
3. Anyone from XDA forum is going to buy this device? Interests me support in the future.
If you have any questions about this product is ask and I'll try to answer them.

Try this out for rooting:

I have exactly the same problem with this device! I used 4 different cables that are tested with a multimeter and 4 different computers with Windows 7 32bit/64bit and Windows XP SP3. None works. .. windows 7 gets the error and windows xp wont install the drivers at all (says that drivers are not suitable for this device or something similar)
I will try again more and more.. i hope to find something to stop me from returning the device.

ERROR CODE 48 -
"The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)"
Which means it does not seem to be an issue with the driver not getting installed, but with Windows not allowing the device to be connected!!??
WTF??
Help much appreciated!
tx
Mark.

Problem solved
The Error (code 10) Problem solved with a proper one-piece USB to MicroUSB cable.
Do not use adapters or combined cables (MicroUSB-to-USBFemale combined with USB male to USB male) as they're not working (at least for me on this device).

can you suggest me smart box with av out for connecting with crt tv and have a miracast features in it.
but if miracast will not be available then it will be also ok.

Is it possible to connect a USB harddisk to an XDA II

Is it or will it be possible in the future to connect a USB harddisk to the XDA II. There seem to be a few possabilities for it. But are any of these workable.
It would be great to hook up a 120 GB Harddisk to it especially in your car for PDF files, Tom Tom maps and lots and lots of music.
I have listed the possabilities that seem to be around please feel free to comment.
1. The XDA II has a video chip which supports IMAGEON 3200 USB On-The-Go ( designed for mobile interconnectivity by allowing a USB device to communicate with other USB peripherals (such as printers) without the need to go through a PC). Would it be possible to use this chip to connect to a USB hardisk.
Was posted by IKIRA in the thread "The XDA2 Video processor features"
2. Buy the expanssion pack and a "Dual Port USB Host CF Card" this would propably be the only working system at the moment.
3. There are already bluetooth > USB printer units on the market that allow USB printers to interface with a PDA using bluettooth. There does not seem te be a Bluetooth > USB host interface. :?:

ah you also saw the cf adapter ;-)
i was hoping they also could make an external version, so we can connect through the connector.
mabe we can hack it ;-)
i think the cf card only uses, power, and usb in and out data transfer
There are specs from transdimension in this pdf file, don't know if it is the same chip as in the XDAII

I was notice the USB OTG function in the ATI IMAGEON 3200 chip.
if the OTG function pins was connect to the CPU and layout on the PCB,
It is maybe add the OTG function, then we can use USB devices like mass storage drivers,HID drivers,Printer and so on!it enjoy!
If i remember correctly, the XDAII does not use the Imageon chip to provide USB, but instead uses the XScale processor (or was it just a seperate chip... I forget...) which does not support OTG, only USB slave.
As such USB OTG is not supported by the XDAII, so unless you can find a USB harddisk which does something clever to allow the harddisk to be the master device, this can't work...
Am I being Daft
I have been trying to solve this problem for a whhile (in a non technical fashion of course).
I synch my MDAIII with my PC but in the near future I would like to be able to save work from other peopls computers to my device and vice versa without the need for cables and cradles.
I have seen some usb pendrives that rather than actually containing memory as such are actually sd card readers (and other cards too). It looks like it would be quite simple to remove the sd card from my MDAIII and pop it into the pen drive reader' and plug it into a computer and vice versa.
Is this too simple - am I missing something and being dense or is this a viable possibility. If it is - its very cheap - it would cost me about £4.50! ???
Can anyone help me out here?

Have you made sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device?
Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
or you could do it manually - see attached Says Aishuo but should workd with any adb drivers.
Dont think it can be done perm as updates remove root.
computer wont recognize my tablet
when i first got my tablet i tried to plug it in to my computer with the included male to male usb cable with it turned off and after i turned it on it started up and the computer picked it up and installed drivers, after that my tab said enable usb debugging and enable mass storage then i was freely able to use it connected to the computer. later i tried to do the same and my tablet started up but nothing happened with the computer or the tablet. please help my computer is a dell inspiron and the usb cable is a normal male to male usb cable. i will use the zergerush method if i can have my computer recognize my tablet. maybe the problem is the usb cable itself but not the computer because I've tried it on three other computers and they all didn't pick up my tablet. i know its not the usb port on the tablet because it picks up my usb keyboard case and my iPod nano.
ive used tons of different one click methods and none of them worked. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
also how can i download abd drivers for my device to use zergrush

Problem with Driver Installation (Win. 7 64 Bit)

Hello. Just yesterday I had received my new Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook in the mail, which is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit (Other specs: 500 GB HDD, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 525M 1GB Graphics Chip, Intel Core i7 2.2GHz Quad Core CPU), and I went to go plug my Milestone into the USB port to copy all my music to this PC, and it wouldn't install the drivers. So I manually got them from the Motorola site, installed them, and still, nothing. And whenever I view the status of the installation of drivers when I click the bubble saying, "Found New Hardware, Installing Device Drivers" (Or whatever), it says MTP USB Device................Installing Driver Software. And it hangs there for a while, and then it has an X right next to the word, Failed. I've tried numerous suggestions, but nothing has worked. I really need these drivers to be installed!! Can anyone help?
Your problem is not connected to the MS or the Notebook.
If you have the debugging switched on ( Titanium suggests that for ex ) the MS wants to connect in Debug mode and you need the ADB drivers.
after connecting the phone, pull down the bar, select USB mode and select massstorage mode or switch of debug mode.

HI802 + gk802 USB--sticks and harddrives issue

Hallo everybody!
Some days ago my HI802 wich is a rebrand of gk802 android dongle arrived with dhl.
I order with aliexpress.com for $ 99,-
The HI802 has
- SoC – Freescale i.MX6Q Quad Core Cortex A9 Processor with Vivante quad GC2000 GPU,
· System Memory – 1GB RAM
· Storage – 8GB NAND Flash Memory (on a exchangeable micro SD card)
- micro SD card slot for card up to 32 mb
· Video Output – HDMI
· Connectivity – Built-in Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth
· USB – USB Host + USB OTG
The Hi802 was delivered together with an 2000 ma wallplug, and a proprietary! usb to micro-usb cable.
After unpacking the dongle and connecting it to the supplied charger with supplied usb to micro-usb cable, connecting it to my tv with a hdmi-cable, and plugging in the Mele F10 airmouse dongle into the HI802's usp-port the Hi802 booted up, so i thought erything would be ok.
Unfortunatly the airmouse was not recogniced and i couln't see any mouse-pointer on my tv.
So i tried some normal wired usb-mice, but also with the same effect, also no keyboard worked with the HI802.
After a lot of emailing with the dealer (kimdecent) and searching a lot of other places on the internet, i finally got my HI802 to work with mice and keyboards and also my Mele F10 flymouse:
The usb to micro usb-cable that was deliverd with my device is a proprietary one and non-standard.
After replacing the cable with a standard-cable, all wireless mice and keyboards worked.
Also chargers that can deliver 2000 ma or more work with that device.
The firmware can be updated very easy:
1. Copy all image-files to the external sd-card.
2. Insert the end of a paper-clip into a little whole besides the micro-usb, and then connect the stick to the power-supply.
3. The stick will then boot into recovery-mode and with a connected mouse or keyboard you can select 'update all system files' from menu.
4. Update needs a few minutes
5. Select 'reboot'
I updated the firmware to a rooted version: rc2V1.65.3 without any problems.
The wireless connection of the stick is quite good.
I connected to my router which is about 30 feet away and have 2/3 signal strengh and can download with about 20 - 25 mb/sec and is sufficient to watch most movies.
I already downloaded a lot of Apps, nearly everything works fine, a lot of apps can be moved to internal SD card to save free space.
Also XMBC works like a charme, I watch a lot of videos and movies over wireless NAS.
Some issues i still have:
The HI802 doesn't work with active (powered) usb-hubs, nothing connected to these hubs works, so you should use passive hubs only.
Using an external sd-card with the HI802: The external sd-card seems to get mounted read only with wrong rights, so you can' use it with your apps (i tried to use Backup and Restore to backup).
You have to mount it with r/w-rights in root-explorer manually ( that's the /mnt/external_sd/ folder)
When i connect usb-sticks or harddrives over a passive hub, FAT32-formatted media can be mounted, but the HI 802 can't read from those media, althought the files show up with root-explorer. (I will ty to fix this issue with root explorer in the next days!)
I also couldn't get the HI802 to work with NTFS, also apps that normally mount NTFS-sticks (chainfires stickmount) on other devices without any problems did not work. (maybe also munted r/o ?)
Did anybody of you also have the same problems?
Sadly these are no longer available at this time from Aliexpress. I'm very interested in playing with the quad core model.
We seriously need some more distributors in the US.
Unfavorable review of GK802
There is a Youtube review portrays the GK802 graphics performance as substantially inferior to the MK808. I can't post the link as I do not have sufficient posts but if you google "SZEALZ GK802 Quad-core HDMI Stick PC -- Graphics Tragedy" you will find it. It seems difficult to understand or am I missing something?
re: review
Well the Vivante quad GPU used in Hi802/GK 802 may not be as fast as a Mali400, but it is definitly fast enought to play most games and to decode nearly all videos in hardware up to 1080p.
I tested a lot oft different 1080p videos in avi, mkv etc., and all oft them were played fine without any dropped frames or lags.
When configured correctly (large network-buffering and using hardware-acceleration), you can use mx-player, bs-player and even xmbc to play nearly all video formats.
The only problem at the moment is the missing support for harddrives and thumbdrives, not all nas can deliver 10 MB/sec over wifi.
Is it true that there are some physical differences between the gk802 and the hi802, or both of them are exactly the same? I'm asking this because I remember I read somewhere that gk802 has a heatsink while the hi802 does not..can anyone confirm this???
Hi802/GK802
As far as i know, there are no physical differences, everything is the same, even both devices run with the same firmware.
I only have the HI802 and have only seen pictures of the GK802.
There is no heatsink, the heat is dissipated away from the processor over the metal shelf of the dongle.
This seems to be sufficient for the 10 watts the dongles are consuming.
I just got my gk802 today from geekbuying for $99
I plugged in a 32gb jump drive and the device found all my media and played it with no problem. My RC11 air mouse remote was found and it works fine. I plugged in a logitech 260 cam to the usb hub and the pictures/video were great. However, when I record sound I get a buzzing sound even with the cam unplugged which has a mic. Also, I have nube problem. I can't figure out how to move an app using the
RC11. I can't move it from the home screen even an inch let alone to another screen. It is not like my Android phone and like I say, I am a nube.

Which firmare version do you have?
I am using the lates 1.65.4 rooted version for the gk802, which works quite well and is really fast, but I am still having no success to access any files on ecternal harddisk and thumbdrives, although the latest firmware should have fixed that.
Do you use any apps to mount your drives, or are they automatically mounted?
The Hi802 comes with android 4.0.4.
Normally you just open the apps-screen by clicking the ... menu on the right upper side.
Than you can drag and drop your apps to the homescreen.

I will be honest, I really don't know much about what I am doing. But, here it goes. I am using version 4.0.4 Android ICS Build version is R13.4-RC2V1.65.3. As far as the drives go, I plugged in the powered hub that I bought with the unit along with a cam that I had and a 32gb jump drive (w/ movies and music). That is it! The GK802 found everything and I didn't have to mount anything. Even the camera video worked fine. The sound is great except for when I try to record audio, all I get is buzzing. I even downloaded xbmc from the geekbuying.com website and it works without a hitch. If it was not for the buzz I get, I would be a happy person. PS - I also plugged in a wireless mouse to the same usb hub because I found that I could not do some things with the air mouse remote alone. (like moving apps and playing angry birds) Everything is fine with it.[/QUOTE]
I have nothing but problems with my newly purchased hiapad hi-802. I bought a mele f10 wireless air mouse with it. The mouse works perfectly with the supplied micro-usb charger. However any video I play freezes and crashes after 30 seconds to 1 minute. Also Bs player is the only video decoder that works. Everything else crashes. I bought a second charger 5v/2000ma and it works except the mele f10 mouse doesn't work. I updated the software to 1.65.4 and I applied the usb fix on hiapad site but the mouse only works with their supplied charger. So I can either use the mouse with no video playback, or video playback but no way to get to the videos... Any suggestions?
Sure. Just ditch the airmouse and use an android phone or tablet with droidmote. Much cheaper, easier and - I think, never having tried one of those airmice - probably also better!
hiapad 802 usb fix file
Hi, they removed the usb fix from their website and I need to download a working firmware.
Do you still have that file?
I've built an AOSP android image for it but I need to be able to compare both boot logs.

[WORKING][USBOTG][STOCK] - Atrix 2 USB OTG Host Mode and USB Accessory acquisition

04/11/2014 - 01:41AM - Central Time
USB OTG does work on the Motorola Atrix 2.
I post this because there are no defining topics listing all the requirements and caveats of making this work currently as of the date. Just alot of help topics to sift through. I got a little obsessive in my search to make this work so this is pretty much a knowledge dump.
Started from original help threads here on the forums (various many... lots), figured things out from there through conversations with Chainfire. Ultimitely fixed with lots of research and use of his USB Host Diagnostics App.
Requirements:
Motorola Atrix 2 Stock 4.0.4 - Rooted [stock kernel as well]
(what drove me insane on this was that in USB HOST Diagnostics App it showed kernel support, and API support up to Device detected)
USB OTG Y cable, usb 2.0 (I was concerned about this in the beginning however mine appears to be usb 2.0, got it off amazon.)
(Through research it concerned me that a usb 3.0 would not work. Have not tested this)
USB Drive, usb 2.0
- Tested with a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 1gb
(I assume others will work although there have been some help topics mentioning problems with certain usb drives)
[NOTE]
Must be formatted fat32 - I have noticed a few threads I researched mentioning exfat is not supported for certain devices
(have not confirmed as of post date if exfat is supported for Atrix 2 Stock)
[NEEDED] For USB Host AutoMount
Usb 2.0 Hub (I have an old one i cut apart originally. Dont remember the make, and I lost the housing for it, but hey it works)

Instructions (i.e. my exact process)
I came from testing a multitude of custom roms. None of them worked. I have a help thread on it here. Unconfirmed if any of them work at all I had no success. If you are wondering the post thread is here.
- Flash to stock ICS 4.0.4 (if you are not already)
- Root the Atrix 2
Not sure if the relevant (but this is the exact process I took)
-Install BMM
-Installed Busybox (1.22.1)
-Installed USB Host Diagnostics App
(get your host cable and usb drive ready)
-Ran the app
(Follow the instructions it will ask you at the end if you wish to attempt to fix the issue)
- Say yes to try to fix it.
- Follow instructions (go for a reboot)
- Open up usb diagnostics app.
- Run again to confirm
Congrats!

This will not make it automount.
- You do not need a separate program to do this.
Grab your USB hub, plug the USB Drive into the hub and plug it in. To my surprise it automounted.
Chainfire had mentioned checking out a certain file when I was trying to find custom roms that would work. The file was there but they did not work. I gather that file was added by his program and made it work on stock ICS 4.0.4.
There are alot of other threads for other devices. Samsung requires shorting the last 2 pins on the USB connection. This is not needed for Motorola, but keep this in mind if you are randomly searching for USB OTG answers.

Thanks: Chainfire
Couldn't have figured this out without his help. I highly recommend his apps, he definitely has a deep knowledge of the android system.
Hopefully that should clear things up a bit for anyone searching for the Atrix 2 USB OTG help. I'm moving on to hopefully port from ICS USB OTG host features to a custom rom like Cyanogen. Ill update a link if I come up with anything.
Hello, maybe someone can guide me for final results and find solution. My plans was watch Tv on lapdock 500pro, after i find dvb-t reciever for android. the model was ]CSL - mini DVB-T Stick (from amazon)
requriments of device informs that phone needs android 4.0 or high, dual core cpu (neon support) and usb otg
i have atrix2 mb865 with stock 4.0.4 +root and text inside /proc/cpuinfo returns - "Features: swp half thumb fatmult vfp edsp neon vfpv3"
last one what i need must be usb otg support, so after i get device i connect it direct to microusb and run installed Air Dtv app, it returns "Device not found" then i find this topic and install Busybox and USB Host Diagnostics and run app. I rush to make it quickly so when start diagnostics app asks me connect usb device but i have no any usb device and otg cable also. so i just plug charge cable in lapdock`s usb and connect it to phone, app little think then ask me to Fix usb otg support and after ask to reboot system. After reboot i try again connect directly that device but app again returns "Device not found" - then i check topic again and start to build otg cable.
After cable was complete i check it by connecting to external power (wall adaptor) then i have results.I run USB Host Diagnostics, start test connect device by otg cable, and app returns me (see pic)
Also, when i connect device by otg cable now system popup "By which programm you want use device" and give choice to Air Dtv or Idtv Mobile, 2 apps. But Air Dtv returns me "Device initialisation failed, unplug device and connect after few seconds" another app cant find device also. (see pic)
Also i install Usb Device info app, and able to see connected device info, system shows me that stick is connected to phone. (see pic)
Also i able to mount usb stick to phone by otg cable with external power, and can view files in it. Means i suggest that otg cable and otg in system works
My final point was view Tv on lapdock but at this step i cant run it on phone, Air Dtv also returns me "device not found" when i try to connect it to lapdock by microusb female - usb male extension (included in package of Tv stick)
Also that device works on pc, i install windows software and check it. Mean stick works and shows tv channels. can be for sure that device works
Hope for your help and support!
That solves my problem sort of, I'm going to try to install NUMA and see what results I get. Ill update my post once I'm done
