So now that the google edition is coming out for the HTC ONE will there be a port for our HTC ONE S' ???
http://vimeo.com/69120102
I sure hope so
Dont think so, its not a simple port.
And i dont know any real improvements over the aosp roms we already have.
But you never know.

You can already get the "improvements" in the form of bootanimation, new camera and sunbeam live wallpaper around XDA.

What camera you mean, from the latest ota or latest gpe edition dump.
Is the gpe edition that much better than the current aosp?
The rest i would call preferences.

Holy **** imagine the One (S/X) camera in AOSP framework ...
I think the "Google editions" come without manufacturers software. But my expectations are the manufacturers configure the system for the respectives phones hardware. Might give us some improvements for other custom roms.

Or is it just me? I love the inquisition rom for this exact reason. IDK, I just don't like it very much. Am I in a lone group with this? What's everyone else's take?
i wish hTC makes their phones as simple as the galaxy nexus, that's why i will flash a "senseless" ICS ROM.
I love AOSP ROMs, not de-sensed ROMs as they contain parts of sense still in them. E.g OpenSensation, nice AOSP ROM...

Oops, double post...
Are senseless Roms quicker ? Better battery life ?

that's what i've noticed on my previous HD2...i didn't try on my sensation yet, but i guess yeah, it's quicker
Sense is just a battery hog
I love sense... Probably because ive never owned an HTC before, and i really like how different it is to other android devices....
I dont think battery is that bad TBH, I can easily get 1-2 days use out of it....
Is there an HTC that doesnt come with sense (except windows phones) ??? If not why buy the HTC if you dont like sense ??
if you dont like sense you could install the aosp roms or install a third party launcher

But then what would attract customers to buy a HTC device instead of a Galaxy Nexus?
OEM's can't compete on hardware differentiation alone IMO.

That won't change the horrible Sense apps. Yes, you could root your phone install an AOSP rom, but you shouldn't have to do that to make your phone work like it's supposed it.
HTC/other OEMS should just give an option to de-sense the phone somehow. If I had a pure-Google experience I wouldn't even need to root my phone.
Again why buy HTC then. The hardware specs are available in many other phones. IMHO.

Not many other phones have 1.5GHz stock, only on the XE. And the build quality is better, so is Android Development etc.

I didn't buy it, TMO gave it to me for free cause my MT4G crapped out multiple times.

i bought it because of the qhd screen, also i like my devices to have some weight and feel sturdy something which other manufactures seem to not understand how to do
I like sense ...its gives the brand of HTC...I prefer look/feel and performance both so HTC with custom roms is perfect for me
Coming from iphone4 I used to have cheap opinion of android (yeah I know I'm little over my head when I had iPhone4) but once I got this little beast on my hands I'm baffled (the rich looking HTC sense and powerful beast inside)
I'm more than amazed ..may be I'm liking sense coz this is my first android phone but right now I feel like sense is a must for a HTC phone....when others look at my phone they'll just know its HTC

Normally I'd take AOSP over Sense any day, but these AOSP ROMs always have some large turnoff that I don't want to mess with. I've been pretty fine with Sense 4.0 though.
Was just on chat with support. Contiually lying to me that both versions s4 and s3 jb were released at the same time and I shouldn't rely on third party websites like xa for news hmmmmm
I hate HTC. My next phone will be a Nexus device. But that's my own rant. I still love the One S!
AW: HTC lying again
No wonder why htc is going down!

Kinda like HTC president commenting that it was poor marketing campaigns that made for lower sales than other brands.
I really like the build quality on my HTC devices. But some things could be improved on other ends.
+1. Build quality is great, much better than sh*tty Samsung devices with plastic all over it. The software side, support, and updates are what is lacking at a disgusting level.

Nope, Jelly Bean update for One S C2 is still in developement process (God Knows, when it will be live?)
I recently checked a thread on HTC UK's Facebook page they have specifically mentioned that Jelly Bean update for HTC One S C2 is in developement/testing phase

So there probably is an issue with it eg performance or it wouldn't be this long. Most likely the fact they used an older slower processor. They should replace every s3.

When I buy a device, I honestly dont give a rats ass about what the manufacture says. I check the XDA section for said device and see how the custom rom/root/unlock support is , and google a bit for build quality etc.
The only thing that we have to rely on the manufacture for, is the kernel source for said device/version. GIEF THE SOURCE ALREADY!
But theres always AOSP options...
Half the point, for me at least, with an android device is that you are NOT LOCKED to whatever the manufacture puts in it - you are free to change it!
I'm new to HTC coming from nexus and one thing that I really miss is JB dialer app with big contac photos while calling and all. Don't really mind the rest. So question is is there a rom with sence and aosp merge together for HTC One S? many thanks in advance

I guess it is possible because we have open sense now but One S has started to date so I guess no dev will put huge time on it again.

I know that from the Twitter a famous HTC developer said One S(S4) has high chance to get 4.2.2 sense 5 later but a new war just started.
http://technosamigos.com/htc-android-4-3-jelly-bean-update-schedule/
Here is a list for HTC 4.3 updates but no One S it clearly said that no Ville(S4) but I'm surprised HTC Valente(HTC J) z321e is on the list.
HTC J got exactly the same hardware(S4 1.5G dual, 1G, 16GB, 8M BSI imagechip, QHD Super AMOLED) with One S(S4) but with microSD, basic water resistance and 1800mah exchangeable battery supported(so it's more fat and heavy, not as cool as One S). It's only on sales in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong regional.
I call BS on that list, it shows the Desire HD as a "yes" for 4.3, lol!

That is wrong because that CPU is just S2.
Its always the one s that never gets the promised update

seriously once we have 4.2.2 and sense 5 you wont be arsed about 4.3
guys ffs htc had to give us 4.2 but not 4.3, if u want it so bad root and flash a 4.3 rom, I'm not even bothered about official htc updates because root is way better

The thing is, our custom roms will be much much much better if there is an official version for our phone.
Proper Kernel, Bluetooth, properly sized apps, more working features, etc, etc, etc...
But yes, pushing for 4.3 at this point is just plain ridiculous and may actually discourage them from giving us 4.2.

I know what you mean with official ota's u get new radios and all this other stuff but Tbh I don't think it makes that much of a difference, well defiantly not how people are hyping it
I wouldn't be surprised if these guys make a new thread petitioning for key lime pie =D.
I definitely will not be purchasing another htc again, but this device is now dead; no point trying anymore... Htc have the worst customers service for a reason

I agree. Nothing in 4.3 is all that important to me. Heck, nothing in 4.2.2 is a huge deal other than the notification toggles. I still miss those from my Sensation, which with Sense 3.5 had them even with ICS.
Na 4.3 is really good.... A lot better than 4.2
Very big battery life improvements, and project butter + in a sense l

Personally, this will be the only HTC device I ever get. I will just stick with the Nexus devices from now on. I paid $600 for a phone that won't get another update without getting a custom rom. That is pretty crazy if you ask me.

Seeing Sailfish OS I was thinking how hard it would be to port it to the Sensation.
I guess it's quite.
I don't think it will be ported, we don't have much developers...

Perhaps. The recent wave of new roms however was rather funny to see though.
