Hey All,
Maybe we could start a post by sharing any finds of CM10.1 XXHDPI themes? I've been looking all over XDA and google to find some but it seems there's only a few that I could find.
I'll start by showing the first XXHDPI theme:

Please share your finding <3

Yeah I checked it. I know they all 'work' but if u look for example that status bar, the icons in there are quite small, hence they are not XXHDPI format, which kinda waste the good quality of our screens.

Don't see how it can be slower. The files I've replaced are the same file sizes as the stock. So it shouldn't be using more resources. I've not notice a performance hit on my device. Anyone else with performance issues?

First, thanks for trying out my theme. Here's the problem with your request. The little icons i made for the home tab (phone, calendar, and alarm) were actually all in one particular manila file. This manila file unfortunately also contains pieces of the digital clock. So, it's all or nothing.
Since I thought the transparent clock is more popular, I decided to go with that. If more people raise this issue, then I'll make a version with the stock clock.

+1 for stock clock.
Love the theme, but the stock clock style is more visible in bright sunlight.
Alright, guys. I'll make one with the original clock in the next release.

Hey y'all, I'm creating this thread to showcase stuff I would like to share with everyone. Most of it is still pretty crappy but I think there are a couple gems hidden.
I will post the themes I have made thus far as well as images I have found and made look good on the phone screen.
Many thanks to everyone that has helped me!! This community is the best
Especially Stericson, I am lovin' ninjamorph.
If you want to give me some money great, send it here or somewhere like this.

great work!! You might want to change "semc_activity_title_bar.9.png" in framework-res.apk to remove the blue bar in settings menu if that was not meant to be like that ... .. Other than that great work( using it by replacing semc_activity_title_bar.9.png with a grey one
NIce work gavriel18
Where did you find the eclair animations? and maybe some more animations..
I remember that I had a nice bounce when the menu drawer slides up on my HTC Dream some time ago..
regards.

Just copy (with 7-zip) the 'anim' dir from 'framework-res.apk' to your own framework-res.apk
Thanks y'all
@realunited i actually really like the blue in there.
@Sam use ninjamorph to change the taskbar icons. That's the beauty of it
@hunteronx I'm pretty sure u were the one that posted those anims, sorry
If anyone has any suggestions for different stuff. I'm going to update the wifi and 3g. Those suck.
Btw if anyone wants to change the bg for contact details its in timescape. Still looking for mediascape...

You changed very few things from my theme... A link to it or mentioning my name would be nice... Even the theme's name is similar... :/
I don't want to discourage you from theming but I spent a lot of time making all of those icons.
I updated mine recently too, and will continue to. Check my sig...

I wouldn't mind if you use all of the buttons & status bar background, or just certain icons in the status bar, or just the dialer, etc. using pieces from other themes is how we all get started.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Hi a question...can you give me a link (how tu make custom Icons) and how i change the background in button Menu/ SemcContact or Mediascape?? Look attachment. pleas tell me???
Thanks and greets

thought id try help.. been a while since ive used 2.1 though! lol (this was like the early 2.1 update we first got before all the roms came out)
1) i reckon the menu button background thing is most likely lurking in framework-res.apk in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
2) the background from the launcher is probably in launcher.apk somewhere although i used to use adw launcher so never really looked into that.
3) as for mediascape background it should be in mediascape.apk although im sure theres some background in there maybe from playlist section or something else where theres a separate background file. cant remember in which apk ul find it but i think it was along the lines of the timescape or framework-res apk's!
some help i am lol sorry.. but if ya wanna look at the old work i had and maybe figure something out then feel free to do so. link should be in signature below if needed!
hope it helps!! good luck

Cool icons for homescreens

Just thought I'd post this for any of you looking for a comprehensive set of icons (free, but they'd prefer you to 'like' them on the social media sites by way of a thank you
http://icons.mysitemyway.com/
This is a link taken from one of the Xoom homepage threads so I thought I'd repost it here for ya'll.. the icons are 512x512 .png files, zipped up. To use them in something like Circle Launcher (paid version which has custom icon support), you'll need to resize to 128x128
Enjoy
cool, thanks.
Thanks, very nice. Wish you had not posted though - I might have to change my home screen again now
This looks awesome, thanks

[Q&A] Have some questions about theming? Ask here!

Pretty much what the title says... Since theming questions tend to get a bit more technical than using Substratum itself, it seems more appropriate for questions to be asked here than in the main thread. Our themers are always looking to help out and provide answers, we encourage you to do the same! If you've found a bug or a cool trick, share it here.

Cool idea with this thread, seems very promising.
I'll start straight away with a question: can there be a way to limit a type2\type1 variant on top of only certain type3s and not be allowed to be selected\applied on top of any type3 regardless? I'll rephrase it if it came out a bit complex: basically I would like to have a type2\type1 variant that can be selected and applied only on top of one or two type3s and not all of them. Is this possible? Cheers.

No, you can only use the resources in the apk you're theming or those in framework-res

The problem is that I'm trying to make a customisable statusbar clock so I want to separate the clock style from status_bar.xml so that the position and style can be separate option.
My question is how can I make something like this android:format24Hour="@string/status_bar_clock_24hr_format" referencing to a string with substratum?
I tried using any string from systemui.apk but that just messes things up.

Does it work if you reference the string with
android:format24Hour="@*com.android.systemui/string:status_bar_clock_24hr_format"
Maybe some of the 'pro' themers can suggest alternatives ?
From our very own @nicholaschum this is a useful guide:

@The Flash, maybe we can have a useful index of links in the op.
