[DEV]Wkparks bootloader improvements - LG Optimus 3D

First, I don't offer here anything cause I still wasn't able to compile a working u-boot.
Things I could add in theory would be:
Boot scripts (we could add a script on the sd that is run before kernel is loaded into ram)
More boot menu options like download mode or a second boot partitions for dual boot
Disable the mmc: booti line which is shown when voting unsigned images
Another splash image instead of the silver lg logo
Another image instead of the download mode image
...
Tell me other ideas
It would be great if somebody would try to compile the wkparks boot loader without any change and tell me if it boots.
@mods if this thread isn't at right section here just move it

i'm not developer yet but I think duel boot options will be great

If you can fix the rebooting issue, everything else will be a good addition.

It would be great if you can fix the battery charging when the phone is switched off.

Good idea, the last version of bootloader has too many errors.
Problems for example:
Problems when you charge and reboot the phone, and it isnt power on.
Problems with power off charge.

It would be great if the shutdown can be fixed.
Having dual/multi-boot directly from the bootloader would be wonderful if we can boot any partitions/boot image on the external SD card!

Berni, did you ask wkpark for help?

Is it possible to modify the u-boot (which loads after x-loader and before kernel) by adding two options , each one for a separated kernel ?? And of course each kernel has its own partitions (system , data and cache ) .
We need a good C programmer to handle this , how are you with C ? (I only can read , but didn't try to write code ) .
The good thing is that O3D is unbrickable , so you can test as much as you can .
By the way ,,
I have Galaxy Nexus , and it has one partition for data and user data(Videos , photos ..etc) (there are /data , /data/media) . and want to dual boot using the internal storage (cause Galaxy nexus doesn't have SD Card) .
So is it possible to partition it ??
P.S :
This may help you :-

If I used parted and mkpartfs I can partition it ? No special thing for data/media ??
And of course editing init.rc .
I just need to make three partition (system , data , cache) , if I follow your dual boot method will it work ?? (And of course another kernel) .
Thanks

I too would like if the problem was solved when you charge and reboot the phone, and it isnt power on and problems with power off charge.
I have contacted several times wkpark, but I have never bothered to reply.
I wonder: is it really so difficult to fix this problem? you could not copy part of the u-boot.img ics30a stock and put it in the u-boot.img of wkpark?

because no one answers ? : Confuso:

[RECOVERY] CWM for the SK4G. Enjoy!

Special thanks goes out to everyone who tested for me.
I do not have the device, so I rely heavily on testers to report any bugs.
Here is CWM for the SK4G.
You will need to modify your stock recovery binary to be able to use CWM.
Kernel Devs can also compile CWM into their kernel by extracting the update.zip and building it into their initramfs.
To replace your stock recovery binary with the modified binary:
download this file
DEAD. USE BALI KERNEL
Exatract and take the recovery binary file inside of it and use root explorer or adb push the file to /system/bin.
DO NOT delete the current one there, or rename any files.
Just overwrite it.
I would however, recommend getting Android Commander from www.androidcommander.com It's a lot easier, and a lot more useful.
CWM Final
DEAD. USE BALI KERNEL
Place in the root of your SD.
You can now use Quick Boot from the market, or adb reboot recovery to boot into CWM
I have sent Koush the device tree to have the official update.zip supported within Rom Manager.
UNTESTED:
You can also take the contents from the update.zip and replace the contents that are in noobnl's recovery rerouter/root.
Again, I haven't tested that due to not having the device.

this phone is not basically a galaxy S. heck, when the SGS4G came out people said it was basically a vibrant. NOPE. Wrong.
It would be hard to do, but might be doable.

if we could get a stock kernel with just the ext4 patch so we would be able to run our system, data and cache on ext4 i'd be pleased enough . idk if anyone with this phone would be able to rebuild the kernel with that patch but if so our phones would easily be 3x faster
I also see the same problem. I didn't think to test backups. What was all changed from the working version to the current version? all that needed to be changed was the lun map and BOARD_USES_CUSTOM_KEYMAP

yes i tested the original one completely and everything worked, the new one you sent me i only tested the buttons and mapping which were fine . but it seems now the nand backup/restore has a problem.
Edit: i just made another nand backup with the original recovery without the back button mapping and it works. seems the edited one got the backup/restore broken somehow

not hard to do at all. unpack, add in ext4 mount options, repack, then flash kernel, and script to convert.

[CWM] Pantech Flex P8010

Hello people,
I am proud to present CWM recovery v5.8.0.2 for the FLEX!
THIS IS NOT UPDATED FOR JELLYBEAN!!..yet
UPDATED support for either internal or external sd
THE ACTUAL CONTENTS OF THE INTERNAL SDCARD ARE LOCATED IN THE /data/media FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE /media FOLDER TO GET YOUR INTERNAL SDCARD's ZIP FILES AND STUFF WHEN CHOOSING INSTALL ZIP FROM SDCARD. ALSO THE BACKUPS YOU MAKE WILL BE STORED IN THE /data/clockworkmod/blahblah FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO I RECOMMEND YOU BUY AN EXTERNAL SD CARD BUT ITS JUST WHATEVVS.
Alright you will need a few things before you can install.
1. Rooted Pantech Flex P8010 (oscar)
2. Computer
3. Basic knowlege of adb/fastboot
4. ADB/Fastboot
READ ME (Disclaimer)
WARNING: THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY
I am not responsible for you bricking your phone or anything that you do to your phone e.g. flash wrong zips , drop it in coke ect.
INSTRUCTIONS
Get a file manager such as Root Explorer and delete the FILE in the /system folder called "recovery_from_boot.p". Get the signed zip file for your desired sdcard mount point (either internal or external sd), and put it in your /external_sd or /sdcard folder. Download and put the .img file (also corresponding to the desired mount point for your sdcard) in adb folder and rename it boot.img. Then put the phone into fastboot mode (google it).
Type:
fastboot boot boot.img
And CWM recovery will pop up after a few seconds. Then choose install zip from sdcard and browse to the CWM_flex-P8010.zip and install it. Then reboot into recovery again and YAY! nandroid time :good:
BIG HUGE thanks to atadres for helping me along the way and also making the flashable zip :highfive:
Score dude! Team flex has such a bright future with these devs. Glad I could help
Bravo Timmy!

If you get the update forcefully, just reroot the phone using the previous method then install the recovery. That is what I just did and it worked for me. Syncing git repos as we speak
@timmythanoob please share how you did it....for knowledge's sake
I used a pantech burst cwm recovery and made it compatible with the flex (recovery.fstab, init.rc,) and I also used a /sbin/recovery file from an atrix 4g to get the resolution right for our screen (qHD).

{Waiting For Build #8}COMPLETE GUIDE ON INSTALLATION OF SENSE 4.0 ROMs

As Soon as Build #8 by derefas was updated i test that build and update the complete guide-->I'm also testing APEX-Sense rom,BulletproofFX so,i also add the guide for that...So, stay tuned
After development goes on sense base ROM's I see that most of people face problem regarding BOOT-LOOPS and confusion on some steps how to do that... .So,this post for those who get boot-loops and facing problem at the installation time...
(1) First to install sense 4 build #6 we need SD-ext partition.as deferas mention we need minimum 1 GB SD-ext(ext 4-->most preferable).
(2) To make partition i often use" Mini tool Partition Wizard" but what i figure out that partition make through Minitool is not recognized in TWRP recovery for me so what i do is as following....
(3) MOST RECOMMENDED--> First do a complete backup of your SD-card somewhere in your computer. OK now all set..we move step further..
(4) Now reboot in to recovery...for general i use application Rebooter (fast reboot){that is available free of cost on play store} through this you can simply directly reboot into recovery and for other cases we all know our default way to reboot in to recovery....
(5) After entering into recovery--> Advance settings --> Partitioned SD card --> now here REMEMBER one thing when we partition memory card through recovery it will fully format/delete all your data of SD card that's why i mention STEP-3 ---> select partition size 1024 Mb and swap size 0 and click ext 4 button for file system of SD-ext to set as ext 4....then enter(swipe for partition)...it will take 2-5 minutes...now you have created partition of ext 4 1024 Mb (1 GB)...now reboot once recovery...
(6) Mount your SD card through mount option and mount as USB storage...put your desire build zip file in the root of the folder....and unmount it...
(7) Now RECOMMENDED--> don't use super wipe for wiping all things..do it manually...---->CAREFULLY don't wipe External storage(SD-card) now one by one wipe all this things --> wipe CACHE/Dalvik Cache then SYSTEM then DATA then FACTORY RESET and last SD_EXT and .ANDROID SECURE...after this all steps you have complete clean device...
(8) Before install we need to figured out what need to mount or not...this is only for sense base ROMs
Case-1) Sense 4.0 build 1/2/3 --> mount cache and SD-ext
Case-2) Sense 4.0 build 4/5/6 --> no need to mount anything..(it will be automatically mounted at installation time...)REMEMBER-->don't unmount external storage(SD-card) it is by default check marked leave it as it is...
(9) Select install zip from SD card....choose file...
(10) After installation it will booted after start up tone leave it for 3-5 minute for stable device---> now unlock ring "There is possibility for after first time booting it will reboot 1/2/3 times because it is make work on script link your data to SD-ext and loading other stuffs....so be patient...don't be panic....
(11) Enjoy your little lucky Pico...
I assure that after following this detail guide you have successfully install your Sense 4.0...thank you for reading this guide...
"Don't FORGET to PRESS THANKS BUTTON"
.
gud work..aftr the release of sense roms Q&A section is filled with same qstns only....:good:

Sd card extensions often cause a lot of problems when not done right. My advice, if you can live without Sense, get CM9.1 build #9. Enough internal memory for a lot of apps when all installed apps are moved to the sd card using titanium backup. Really smooth ics rom great for daily use and with almost no bugs.

I don't know why you guys facing this problems like freeze at HTC beats audio,processing....I think something is going wrong....currently I have no solution I'm working on it....but till that contact and PM deferas your problems.....
Suggestion--> for frezzing issues guys after first booting if it freeze leave it as till 15 minute because it may be link your sd-ext with system.....successfully complete booting varies due to your memory partition sectors....if your memory card have some bad memory sector then also this happened.....

[Idea] dual boot

This is just one of my crazy thoughts,
It might be just an idea for devs...
As in computers,
Y can't we do dual partition, along with the existing one, such that flashing 2 different Roms in those 2 partitions..
And while booting with an option of swapping partitions,
Can't we use 2 Roms @ a time....
I know RAM will get ****ed up...
But just a curiosity to know, wether it's possible
Or
Had anyone tried this already!!!!

I am not saying it is impossible
But how it could be possible bcoz the system partition our pico is not enough for that
And for using two roms we have to make two sd-ext partitions and also we have to flash the whole rom except boot.img to the sd-ext partitions
And it is not possible till now
Bcoz we have to keep many file in system partition like lib ,bin, xbin

its definitely bro, but its damn hard, we need to have atlest 3(maybe 4 partitions in sd-card) one for system, one for data one for cache ...
And then the hardest part of all a switching mechanism ... many devices have switching mechanism such as multirom of nexus .. but as our pico boot partition is very small .. a whole lot of tweaking is needed to be done obtain dual boot... i'll try to work on it after fall july (exams this month !!)

I think we can create multiple boot partitions on SD card and flash our utility (which has a GUI that shows the list of all ROMs) on our real boot partition. This master utility should read and copy the contents of the corresponding boot partition of the selected ROM on SD card into 0x12c08000 physical and jump into it (not sure whether this jumping can be performed at a higher level, but we've done that at assembly level for S-OFF)
Is it possible to make sd-ext partition as
Boot partition?
If yes then it is easy to make multiswitch roms
But i think our pico's performance will degrade and also sd card life will also degrade
Sent from my HTC Explorer using xda premium
So... So...
option 1:
kexec_hardboot needed
multirom needs to be ported :fingers-crossed:
^Above two, which would take some time...
option 2:
In the meanwhile, it is possible to... boot two ROMs, with a derped boot.img. If two ROMs use the same kernel, it can be used to dual boot the two ROMs. And, yes, 4 partitions in sd-card (fat32>data>system>cache) required. switching ROMs could be done using the terminal emulator. bla bla, and stuff. and, I am doing serious talk here.
so, two options. the first one: real dual booting, devs need to work on it, and get the kexec hardboot patch onto our kernels first.
the second: namesake. a fake troll dual_boot, but still dual_boot is achieved (like i could, on the same pico).
And, life of sdcard... can't say. class 4, mine didn't get damaged, because i dual boot using the second option

that's what i am talking about if we put kexec hardboot in the boot.img won't it become too big for our boot partition ?
@ayushrox
hey, apart from pico, can we apply the idea of dual boot in other high end android ? u mentioned about "nexus", above in your post.

yeah its fairly possible its even done on many devices for example nexus 7 : google multirom ...
there you will see a dual booting feature based on kexec hard boot..

Only required files are config'ed in kernel. the kexec binaries are separate, afaik.
Don't you know about boot manager app. Go check it in Google play store. It is not possible to make choose a rom to boot at startup as it comes in PC, but using boot manager, it's possible to select which rom you want to open after reboot.
But you will need to do partitions of your sd card. Maximum 4 roms are supported. The number of partitions depends upon how many roms you want to have.

Steps for flashing a .img file to a specific partition ( here, recovery ) :
Here are the two methods :
1st Method ( Using ADB ) -- This needs the phone to be connected to the computer.
Go to the folder containing the recovery.img file you just downloaded.
Shift + Right Click on any empty space in the folder and Select Open Command Window Here
Connect the phone to the computer and make sure you have USB Debugging enabled and not USB Storage
Type these into the Command Window :
adb devices -- This should show the Device attached as KarbonnTitaniumS5Plus-xxxx or any such line.
adb get-state -- This is to ensure USB Debugging works. It will show device, recovery or offline, but here, we would be looking for device
adb reboot bootloader -- This reboots the device into Fastboot mode, also called as HBOOT or Bootloader. This mode is necessary for flashing the recovery.img file
fastboot oem unlock -- This is to ensure that you can flash xxxx.img files to specific partitions of the device.
fastboot flash <<partitionname>> <<nameofrecoveryimagefile.img>> -- This flashes the specific partition image file to the specified partition. Here, we would be looking for something like fastboot flash recovery philzrecoverys5plus.img for the PhilZ Touch Recovery and fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img for the TWRP Recovery and fastboot flash recovery cwmrecoverys5plus.img for the.... Well, you understand what I mean. This should show some text on the device like Transferring Flash or Writing Flash and the Time and Speed of it, that would confirm your flashing.
fastboot reboot -- This command reboots the device into the normal system, and lo, you're ready to go !
Click to collapse
From here, you can reboot to recovery and back again without any issues. This is the tried and tested method, the method which worked perfectly when I tried it on my device. Else, if you have no patience for connecting the Phone to the PC, jabbing on the keyboard and entering n number of commands, you could try this out :
2nd Method ( Using Terminal Emulator ) -- This doesn't need the phone to be connected to the computer.
Place the recovery.img file in the Internal Storage or External SD Card -- Here, I'm placing it as in storage/sdcard0/xxxxrecovery.img
Install Terminal Emulator or any such app onto the phone and Open it.
Type these commands one by one :
su -- This gives root permissions to the Command Executor.
flash_image recovery /storage/sdcard0/xxxxrecovery.img -- This flashes the recovery image file to the recovery partition.
Close the Terminal Window.
Done !

Another Note : If you're following the Second ( Terminal Emulator ) Method, note that there is a space between flash_image and recovery and the path of the image file. The first method is the preferred one, which worked perfectly with no errors for me; while the second method is risky and might return some errors while trying it out.

Another Loooooong Shortened Note : The TWRP Recovery might, in some rare cases, show your battery level as 19% when it is at 99% and the same goes for the others. If you are encountering this error damn frequently, I'd recommend reverting back to the original CWM basic recovery as it doesn't show any battery info at all ! You also have the option of wiping your Battery Statistics in case the Battery Error in the Touch Recoveries made the system too show the same error. Once, after fully charging the phone to 100% and rebooting to recovery, I found that the TWRP recovery showed the battery level at 19% ! Out of curiosity, I rebooted back to the system and it too, showed it at 19% ! I just plugged it into the charger and was like Whoa !, as the battery sprang from 19% to 24% in 7 seconds flat ! I know that neither the reboot to recovery does drain out that much battery, nor does the recovery randomly perform such miracles on it. So, I just flashed CWM basic recovery to it using fastboot mode, opened it, did a Battery Stats wipe and rebooted to the System. It was back to 99% ! So, a full Battery Statistics wipe helped me solve such errors, and might do the same to you too. Just remove the battery from the phone after you power off from the recovery, put it back in, and let the phone start up. Problem Solved ! Damn, why didn't I think of this earlier ?

Yet Another Short-But-Not-So-Short Note : I'd recommend disabling the Boot Animation on the phone ( using ROM Toolbox Lite or Pro ) so that the possibility of bootloops is diminished. No Boot Animation = Less Chance of Bootloops !

One Last Note : ( Yeah, Right. )
The MIUI ROM and the Sony Xperia v2 ROM work properly. For people who have boot issues, doing a full data wipe/factory reset through the recovery will solve that problem... MIUI is pre rooted, but chainfire's SuperSU app is not installed and there is no keyboard app. The Sony Xperia v2 ROM has SuperSU installed and works properly. However, a high amount of patience is needed to wait for the ROMs to boot up...
As mentioned by cybercrawler, the internal/external swap supposedly works, and appears to be already applied in these ROMs... so, if you are going to flash a new ROM, you had better undo this change...
The clockworkmod recovery file works too, as seen in the screenshots uploaded by cybercrawler... thanks to him for testing that out.
I shall be uploading some screenshots of these in a few days. Both the ROMs run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, and the MIUI ROM has a update scheduler app, so I'm guessing it can be updated to 4.4 Kitkat. Anyway... if anybody knows how to bypass Dropbox Error 509 ( This account's public links are generating too much traffic and are temporarily disabled ), please download the Xperia Z v1 ROM and upload it to Google Drive...
Check this thread for further development on this device.
If anybody is willing to volunteer to try a ROM still in development for this device, you can download it here :

It is NOT READY FOR FLASHING, but is a Kitkat ROM, so anybody willing to put in their efforts in the development of this ROM can help.

Still working on the Carbon ROM... May take a few more days to create a working, booting ROM !!!

Anyway, after this and the flashable stock rom zip file, i'll be porting miui 6 to this device !
After that, maybe, I was thinking of an Android L ROM for this device...
Anyway, Back to Project CarbonForKarbonn for now...
Could anyone upload the specifications of moto g (codename falcon) in a post here ?
I need to know it's features and some information abt. it, like whether it supports dual sim, has external sd card support, etc.
so that I could rectify any problems which are occuring because of such non-compatibility errors.
Looooooong schedule... this might take forever...

You need to have ADB and Fastboot tools and the recovery file in the same folder.
Connect the device to the computer, open USB Debugging in Android, open a command window in the folder with adb and twrprecovery.img image ( Shift + Right Click ), and type these commands in it :
adb root -- Don't worry if this shows any error like adbd cannot run as root in production builds. Just proceed with the next step.
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img -- This will automatically format that partition and install the recovery image to it.
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
Done !
Anyway... Building the final parts of the Carbon Nightly ROM, also simultaneously working on MIUI 6 for this device.
Stock ROM build is happening... Just have to generate the updater-script and the update binary.
Status of Each Build :
Carbon ROM : Needs a new Update Binary, creating it, coding it.
TWRP Recovery : Done !
MIUI 6 : Downloading the latest release version. Porting and Update Binary and Updater Script pending.
Stock Flashable Zip : Creating all Update files from scratch, system folder is ready, deodexing pending, App updates pending.
Xperia v3 : Boot Animation Build Progressing, Updating all stock Google apps, Adding Xposed Framework, etc.
Android L ROM : Waiting for a Stable Android L ROM to be released here, still no progress.
Here are the basic mount points of this device which I accidentally discovered while messing about in the Stock ROM :
system : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p8 -- This is for the System folder, has ext4 partition type
data : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p10 -- This is for the Data folder, has ext4 partition type
cache : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p9 -- This is for the Cache folder, has ext4 partition type

Which do you think is better : External SD Card as Main Storage or Internal SD Card as Main Storage ?
Anybody can reply by posting here.
This question is for the Carbon ROM and the Stock Flashable Zip ROM.
I felt I should ask you this question as I felt that Internal SD Card has way too less storage for me, but my decision cannot be everybody's decision, can it ?. ( I have 180+ Apps on this device, all linked to SD Card ( 32 gb, ~1.5 gb free space remaining ) ).

Yeah, I'm working on that. You know that camera you have in other Xperia devices with all that Timescape feature and everything ? I'm adding that to the updated version of this ROM. But, the ROM will still be based on Android Jellybean 4.2.2. I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about that because, if I change the base OS, I'll have to rebuild all the apps from scratch to fit alongside the new permissions and all that stuff, which will take off most of my time.
I'll consider your decision about the Main Storage, but there's one drawback about using it that way. You won't be able to remove your SD Card or unmount it while the OS is on. If that's okay with you, please reply. Anyway, if you want to change it afterwards, you can do so by the vold.fstab edit which cybercrawler had mentioned here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55154053&postcount=31
Thanks for your opinion, by the way !
