Am I right in thinking the tf700 is not using the 3.4 android kernel? my xperia s has been updated to use this with the latest firmware, and for whatever reason (im no android dev!) it seems to apparently be the reason the phone has gone from pretty laggy to very snappy indeed. is there any reason Asus have not done this? is there a newer version incoming, or is this device just not a priority anymore? (which would be a shame as its not that old and works pretty damn well to me, but could always be better!)

Asus depends on NVidia, and it's unlikely that we'll see any newer kernel for our device than 3.1.
thanks. as i said, im no expert, but could this be done by devs without nvidia, or are they holding on to the nessessary code?
also, with the experimental 3.8 kernel sources available, and it supporting 'third party tegra drivers', will this benefit us, and could it be built independant of asus?

It should be possible to add support for the Transformers to newer kernel versions based on the published 3.1 source, but since there were major changes related to ARM device handling in recent kernels (device tree) it won't be easy.
would there be benefits, if some one were able to do it? as i said, the folk over on the xperia forums are very happy we have a 3.4 kernel, and claim all manner of improvements, which are noticable in the new build, are down to 3.4. thanks

You could start researching yourself - are there any Tegra 3 Android devices with a newer kernel than 3.1?
I wish i had the time, maybe when my degree is over! i guess the HTC One Tegra version may use a newer kernel? Or maybe it will do when 4.3/5.0/whatever comes out, or the Google Experience versions may do when they ship i guess?

Tf200 kernel wont work right if at all. Having basically the same hardware isnt good enough. The camera is different, the memory is diffent, its the same cpu but its clocked different, the screen is different ect....
Hang tight im sure one will be released soon the devs seem to be doing there thing. Besides you can oc to 1.5 ghz now, how much more do you really need. I know i like to see how far i can push it, but in reality whats a couple of hundred mhz going to do? This tablet runs great in power saving mode let alone preformance.
i like to test the limits on the cpu as well, in my opinion every little bit helps. why have 1.5 when i can have 1.8ghz or maybe more... lol

Don´t try to flash a 201 Kernel. A friend on Android Hilfe tried and now his pad is totally bricked.
i wouldnt do it unless it was confirmed to work... im not totally crazy... lol

1.The clesmyn is more advance and actively updating, it should works well with the best rom called "Clean Rom", including the ability to over clock/undervolt (coming soon, under testing), over clocked GPU (graphic) to 650.
2. The mystical kernel is just pure stock with no other features except for these 2: able to change screen density and carrier.
So the mystical will not provide any performance gain, but the clesmyn will.
What is everyone doing? I ran CleanROM for a long time but I'm curious what everyone else thinks?

I was running cm10.1 and now running cleanrom 3.1 and just now updating to 3.2 I prefer cleanrom over cm10.1 at least on this device, I an running cm10.1 on my galaxy note 1 and 2 and on my galaxy tab 7.7 I think it really depends on the device and what else is available my 3 nexus 7's are all running paranoid android latest pie beta and that is also great

I switch between the two alot and I do prefer CM10.1 but I can't get my external harddrive or flashdrive to mount through the dock, I've tried three or four different file managers but none seemed to work, only the Stock ASUS one, which won't work in CM10.1 (at least I couldn't get it to) If anyone knows how to do this please let me know...
I ran CM10.1 was the first custom rom I loaded on my Infinity. It still had problems with lag on the browser and opening apps. Plus CM10.1 didn't have the cool Asus toggles and Asus apps loaded. So I tried CleanRom when it was 2.1. Man what a big difference in performance and touch response.
The original developer of Cleanrom left and a new developer now taken over and still making big improvements. If it wasn't for CleanRom this tablet wouldve been doomed with all of Asus critical flaws. The hardware is nice but the I/O problem and shaky firmware caused a mediocre experience which is unacceptable for a high end tablet. I don't think I can go try another ROM unless CROMI stops development. I was really amazed what CROMI has done to this tablet.
I am partial to CROMI myself. It runs super smooth, and sbdags is continuously making improvements.

CROMI -- I did actually try out CM10 in the earlier versions (which I'm sure do not even hold a candle to the more recent ones), but I did not like on this particular device (I have a few others that run/ran CM to great satisfaction). I like the keyboard toggles (available in the more recent M versions, I know), and the external storage functions must work impeccably for me to even seriously consider to try out CM10 at the moment...
I've donated to all three projects (CM, CleanROm and CROMI) and I do hope that CM10 is succesful and popular -- no hard feelings here.
Ok so I'm a bit new to the community in terms of tablet hardware and wanted to understand the concept of overclocking now from what I've heard the Asus tf300t has the capability to be increased to 1.5ghz it's stock is 1.3 I believe so my question is:
what are the basic benefits of overclocking.
How do you go about doing it? (app, or what not)
What damages can be done if done incorrectly. (boot loop or brick)

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Benefit is basically making your tablet faster and smother under heavy tasks such as gaming. Light tasks wont be affected much.
In order to over clock, you need custom kernel and a software that allows you to over clock or under clock. My favorite is set CPU which is paid ( there are tons of CPU app)
If you over clock too much, tablet will become very unstable and also CPU can overheat much easier which can lead to hardware failure. I recommend you to overclock up to 1.6 max if you ever gonna over clock.

I second this when playing games. I do also see a very slight difference in normal day to day use. Just dont overvolt, that i heard is bad for the chip and greatly shortens the length of the chip. Overclocking isnt as bad for it.

Ah ok so you do need a custom kernel/rom in order to gain access to overclocking. Well I've had problems before with flashing custom roms(soft bricked) and I'm kinda hesitant about it but I mean I've ran emulation on 1.3ghz and it runs smooth like for epsxe. I guess it's a matter of preference really?

I think that it is worth to unlock if you use a 1tb hard disk. It is more useful to overlock GPU as it will boost your perfomance in UI and games.

Overclock improved my tablet experience
When I was running cleanrom 3.4.1 and Unters TF300T 10.4.4.25 Kernel I had it O/C'ed to 1.6.
The ui and games like beach buggy blitz , dead trigger ran noticeably smoother .
Now I'm bac on stock android 4.2.1 from Asus website its nowhere near as smooth probably not even as smooth as stock 4.1.2 imo.
ya im on cm10.1 at the moment. over clocked to 1.6ghz currently. i find whether it was clean rom 3.4.4 or cm10.1 1.6ghz seems to be my tablets sweet spot. with my tablet and dock together on cm10.1 i have lasted like 4 days unplugged laying around with daily use for alittle bit. grand theft auto final fantasy dead trigger. all play so smooth.
Tergrak over clock let's you over clock any ROM, you don't need a custom ROM or kernel just root. Its on the play store.

+1 for overclocking. You can run the tablet at the lower speeds to save the battery when just messing around but you have the option to turn it up when needed. I overclock every device I own if possible. :good:

OK, my problem is I can't decide what ROM is best for me, And I'd rather not spend time trying them all out when I have all you beautiful people who can give me their input. The two ROMs I've used are cm10 and liquid smooth. The issue is though cm10 hasn't had any real bugs for me yet, it isn't as fast or smooth as liquid smooth is. But liquid smooth although faster, seemed to be a bit more buggy. So I'm looking for a ROM that's stabile and not too buggy' but is also smooth and fast. I don't need a ton of customization but a small to decent amount would be nice and a few nice features wouldn't hurt but neither of those are necessary. . What ROMs would you guys suggest for me and if possible why. Thanks ahead of time.

I suggest Cromi. Plain and simple. It has its small bugs of course, considering it is based upon stock. However, the support for it is fantastic and it comes with many options. I am looking forward to 4.2.1. The tf300 got the option to switch between layouts of 4.1 and 4.2 and I think that is great of ASUS to come out with, and when ASUS released 4.2.1 for the TF700, I am sure sbdags will keep that implemented. With 4.2.1 I am sure will come some more smoothness and stability. CM is smooth, but does not seem as fast as Cromi. It also depends on the launcher and settings you have.

There is no "best" per say. Each has its ups and downs. I however prefer Cromi over other because it is stocked based and it still has the 4.1.1 tablet UI. Also, since Cromi has the most users, feedback and stability will be best. It is a matter of your choice in the end. Just try it out, you can always nandroid backup your current and try out others.
However, 3.4.5 just came out and I would wait. I personally am experiencing problems ATM and trying to figure it out. Problem currently (March 21 2013) seems to revolve around the new Cromi Boot Logo. So when in options just choose the Stock or Nexus 7 Boot logo instead.
