And who do I contact for security issues regarding the XDA-Developers site itself? None of the above methods turned up anything.

Eddie
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I used http://myworld.ebay.com/dr.unlockusa
You purchase the 'service', and you will then conduct the rest of the deal via email and web service, unless you have issues, they offer live web chat.
My email looked like:
Thank you for your purchase. Please click www.UnlockUSA.com/IMEIsubmission.aspx
to submit your IMEI into our system. Our unlocking process is fully automated.
If you need help or to verify the unlock code before we mail it out, click
Live chat at www.UnlockUSA.com. After you submit your phone information
to us, you will receive a confirmation from us within 15 minutes. Contact
us at [email protected] or Live Chat www.UnlockUSA.com if you do not receive any confirmation about your code immediately.
I went to the site and entered my IMEI.
I received an email right away that read:

You may track your unlock code status at http://www.UnlockUSA.com/ebaysearch.aspx?sresult=0123456789012345 We will notify you when the unlock code becomes available. A couple hours later i received an email that read:

Also if your account with T-Mobile is in good standing and you own the phone they should supply you with a unlock code at no charge.

Thanks for the info, I got a code for a Buck on the bay and now my G2X is unlocked. I was wondering if I change rom's or go back stock would that effect the unlock or will I have to re-enter it?
Eddie

The unlock is permanent unless the carrier resets it or blacklisted it
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I followed the instructions and put in an Att sim but it didn't bring up asking for an unlock code like they said. How else can I input the code?
Posting your IMEI in a public forum is simply plain stupid!
Thanks for the help and info. I used my friends sim to check and see if it worked and it did. So now (not that it matters) my g2x is unlocked.

Did you actually look at the code he put?

looks like evo lte source released

http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/
look at the top..the one x cant be far behind..same hardware and all..unless its att behind the delay
So even a device that came out more than a month after ours already has source? I don't understand why ours is taking so long.
I'm annoyed. Ridiculous.
At this point there is no question- AT&T is clearly behind the delay.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
So, if Rogers releases the update soon (assuming it is finished) then we would at least get that source, right? If not then we can 100% blame AT&T

We all need to just keep spamming their Facebook and Twitter about it. I don't use Twitter so I am all over their FB.

But how will that help if we are waiting on the update? Ideally, we should spam the carriers just as much if not more in this instance

I just sent another request, tried to stir up interest on the Verge, and posted to HTC's facebook wall.
Do you guys really think AT&T has the type of power to hold back the source for a phone that has been released around the world?
Before anyone says anything, I'm obviously talking about our variant.

Yes. They have HTC by the balls, far more so than any of the international carriers.

In that case, onward to AT&T facebook's page to express my displeasure in a civilized manner.
I encourage you all to join me.

Those people have no control over this. They're just PR.
Here's the email addresses of high ups at HTC.
[email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]
I've sent them emails. Note, some of them will bounce back. Mr Cher actually forwarded my email to a PR guy. That guy was however useless.
Edit: Here's the generic bull**** message the PR guy replied with.
Locking the bootloader has been a standard security practice in the mobile industry. Locking the bootloader protects you from malicious software and also allows manufacturers to ensure the device will consistently deliver the intended experience. HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we'll continue to unlock additional devices in the future.

Yes, but it gets back to the people in charge. Case in point- The whole locked bootloader fiasco.
Email I just sent to Peter Chau
Dear Sir:
I'm writing to you to formally request the kernel source code for the linux kernel you are using the HTC One X Evita.
You are required to provide this code upon request in accordance with the GNU Public License under which the kernel was released.
Please advise me as to when and where I can obtain this code.
Thank you
Noob question here. As I understand it the evo is essentially the same hardware as our phone...why is the source not useful?

The EVO has CDMA radio and SD card slot therefore a different kernel.
sent this
"Allow me to complement you guys on a great piece of hardware. However, this hardware is useless to us if we don't have the software support. Samsung has already released the kernel source for the S3 and we, One X (AT&T) owners, have been waiting for months for ours. I'm very close to jumping ship and abandoning HTC in favor of Samsung. Please support your developer community and release the kernel source. I like your products and would love to keep using them but I need your help."

I know things have changed since back in the day, but does this now mean XDA-Developers in now fully legit?

it just shows how poor their capability of handling customer concerns.
thumps up for xda though for being able to provide what we need.
