Hello fellow XDA members,
Before I start, I would like to appologize if my English spelling is not perfect.
Ok, Problem 1:
This morning i woke up, and as usual, my phone was still plugged in into the charger. (Acer Liquid E2).
But, the thing that actually woke me up, was the phone constantly re-booting, and making the start-up sound + vibration.
When I took the phone, it was SUPER hot... I have never felt a phone being so hot.
It kinda got me worried...
I have the phone for about 2 weeks now.
What i did, was unplug the phone from the charger, took out the battery and placed them on my marble windowsill, and left it there to cool down for about 15 minutes.
When it was cool again, i placed the battery in the phone, and booted it up.
There was nothing wrong with the phone, but when it booted, it said that it was only charged 16%...
While it had been in the charger for about 7h's straight.
I just charged the phone again, but this time using another charger.
To Be Honest, I used the charger from my old samsung device, and swapped to the charger that came with the Acer phone.
I used the Samsung charger, because it has the same plug + the cable is longer ...
Do you think that this all happened because the samsung charger is not compatible with the acer device?
Or should I bring the phone back to the store, and have them take a look at it?
Ok, Problem 2:
When I try to call someone.
I often need to call 3-4 times...
Sometimes, when I call and the person answers my call, I can not hear them.
But the phone is still calling...
I need to re-call them then, and when the phone is calling, and I head a double beep.. then it will work...
Its really hard to explain..
But when I hear 2 dail beeps at once, then I can make a call,
if I only hear one dial beep, then I am a 100% sure it will not work, and I will need to recall them...
I have never had this problem before.
Could it be the provider? or the phone?
I hope you understand my issues,
And I am hoping that you guys can help me.
PS: if I posted this in the wrong section, please forgive me and move it to the right section on the board.
Thanks for your time,
And I am looking forward to see the replies.
Greetings from Belgium,
Kristiaan D.

No my friend,
Just android 4.2.1,
Its the stock ROM that came with the phone, but with an update.
Thank you for your reply.
Doing a preliminary search I discovered that it might not be your phone, it might actually be a tower or similar in your area.
What kind of phone do you have? What carrier do you have?
Do you travel away from your home regularly? Do these issues persist when you are away from home?
According to another forum it could be your SIM card or your SD card (if you have either of those)?
According to another forum you may need to consider a factory reset to clear the cache and then reintroduce applications one by one to see if any are actually causing the problem.
I see you are in Belgium so I know some of the above may have no pertinence to your situation.

My carrier is BASE.
Well, i walk alot...
And these problems happen everywhere that i go...
But to be honest, i never go far away... (max 20km)
I don't think its an app that causes this, because i have had this problem from the first day that i bough the phone.
Thanks for the reply

@ikristiaan - 20k is more than enough to rule out towers as the cause.
What kind of phone do you have?
Does your phone have an SD card or a SIM card?
To find if the problem is due to charger or phone, connect it to a laptop or pc via USB and let it charge and also if u want to know if it was also not because of network take away the SIM and charge if the problem still present then u should probably take it to store.it happens if you've overclock too.

As mentioned above, i have an Acer Liquid E2.
Yes, the sim card.. thats pretty logical to have right, and yes it also has a SD

It does not get that hot when i charge it using the pc or when i charge it using the charger that came with the phone.
I did not overclock it. It has enough power with its 1.2ghz quad core
thanks for the replies

@ikristiaan
1) Try removing the SD card for a few hours to see if it restarts on its own.
2) Try plugging your phone into the charger, then remove the battery. Observe it to see if it restarts.
3) If those do not make a difference remove your SIM card to see if your phone restarts by itself without the SIM.
Report back here with results.
@ikristiaan - Hey, I'm just checking back in to see if you've had any success with any of the trouble-shooting methods above.
I look forward to hearing back!

Hi, all.
Here is the situation....
In the past week or so I been getting update notices for .....45.....
Message was so brief that I haven't had a chance to get all numbers..
After accepting an update phone was hanging on the exclamation mark doing absolutely nothing over night...
Of course, I have my phone S-off and rooted. Nothing else was done yet, same stock ROM with no alterations. Now the tough part. Since that attempted update battery life was awful... Needed to charge almost twice a day...
NOW!!!! Does not take the charge at all... Charger works, charging my HD2 + USB computer charger nothing works. When plugged in and I remove the battery, insert it back it gives me an amber light for 5 seconds, then goes dark. Cannot boot with power cable plugged in..... Bunch of crap...
Did anybody else ran in to the same problem? Was that update meant to kill the phones with S-OFF? Or it's just my phone crapped up or battery?
Please give me some guide... 3 week old phone and so many problems.
Thanks all!!
No problem to bump my post.
Phone doesn't charge at all
Never, really never install an ota on a rooted ROM, even if its stock. I guess you should start by reinstalling stock ROM and wipe before. The charging thing is a known bug due to recovery. An update is available which you should install. You will have to manually charge the battery with a cut charging cable. Instructions can be found in this forum.

Hello everyone,
im new here,
I just bought Nexus S from some1,
it had a problem which later showed up.
The touchscreen works all by itself suddenly,
the left part of the screen is misbehaving, it starts touching on screen when its not.
it was on GB when i bought, then i updated it to ICS to see if the problem gets fixed but it gets more crazy, now updated to Jelly Bean, worked fine for a while, but now again its starting.
Any help will be appreciated
I think it is a problem with your touch screen hardware and not the android software. That being said, unless someone else has had the problem, no one can really help you.. Personally, since I've never heard of this problem, I'd recommend you get it repaired, even if it costs some $$. Hopefully someone else who has had the problem can help you out, but until then, best of luck!

Already tried all flashing. nothing helped.
but recently i did some wierd things with phone,
i burned my nexus s screen side, not actually burned it, but kept it to a distance from fire, just to heat it up,
i thought if there was any moisture that was causing the trouble might end up from burning,
after the phone cooled down, i placed battery and started phone..
wow amazing... it worked fine!!
but in the next step i inserted SIM card, i was going happy and was thinking "oh yes... saved the day!!!"
but boom, touchscreen started misbehaving again!!!!
i removed SIM card, but problem persists!!!
sad...
but i tried again,
removed battery and sim card,
burned phone again with more temperature as i was angry, wanted it to burn completely, but i guess i saved it.
now currently, without the SIM card, phone is working perfect as it was.
I dont know wat it has to do with the SIM card or burning
any1 knows wats its problem?? how can i use my SIM card with phone now???

Ok there was another problem, some part of left side of screen is not responding on touching,
previously i flashed a kernel which fixed the issue,
now i don know which kernel was it, lost it,
can any body help me on this issue?
miracle happened
yo guyz i cant believe it... everything is fine now.. phone works with sim too... i guess burning did help... and gues wat.. that left part of screen which was not responding.. its fixed by netarchy kernel.. i m currently using GB 2.3.6 with netarchy kernel.. can any1 give me Jelly Bean ROm? i tried some JB ROM but status 7 error occurs.. need help

you can update like this, one by one to get force update jb.. this trick works for me like charm http://bit.ly/Ok1EHa
Problem is back... and i think i found wat is troubling, its the SIM card, when i insert SIM card it does troubles, but when i use airplane mode, everything gets better.
tried different SIM cards, but no change.
so guyz tell me possible fix of the SIM card?
noticed another problem,
phone takes a very long time to recharge
and when i plug the recharger, sometimes battery indicates 10% or more Additional battery suddenly
i don understand wat is the problem?
Battery? Recharger? or SIM Slot??
im getting crazy now!!
Finally Its Fixed without spending any money
it seems baseband was troubling... as it was something like this i9020A this A is meant for AT&T thus its preferred network was WCDMA (my network is only on GSM).. i saw a code to see my phone info.. *#*#4636#*#*
This code showed up a window where i saw a button called radio... i switched it off.. i thought it was meant for FM Radio lol.. but it actually turned off my Cellular network.. i turned it back on and then i saw that the problem was gone... i went to see baseband and now its I9020XXX .. that A is gone..
Issue is fixed but there is one thing i don't understand at all.. how did fixing radio band fixed the touch issue? I think this conflict was causing Operating System to go crazy, hardware was never at fault..it was all software confliction.. I'm very happy its fixed..
If some1 have the same issue go here
*#*#4636#*#* turn radio off then turn on again.. hope it helps..and if it doesn't then at least it helped me

I have a Nexus S and I have the exact same problem since last few days. I enabled "show touche" from the developer options to track the screen touch. Now I can clearly see that one column on the left side of the phone gets a random series of touches (in that one column only) from top to bottom. The issue I think is a HW issue, nothing to do with sim card, or ROM or anything related to SW. I have tried GB, ICS, JB and even "touch" version of the clockwork. It happens even in clockwork. It seems to me that I need to buy a Galaxy nexus unless someone knows of an easy way to fix this.
Same Problem
Hey man,
I got the same problem.
I tried so much things but it's absolutely a hardware problem, I found on the internet that there is some netarchy kernel modified by someone, but that's not up to date anymore. The kernel only works with a old version of android.
I update my android almost every month, it helps a bit but not much.
I am trying to learn all about building and modifying roms and kernels, but that is not that easy as I thought so that will take some time before I can publish a kernel for you.
Maybe if you can building kernels, try it by yourself?
Or google Nexus s unresponsive touchscreen, i found there some helpful answers. But they all not really up to date.):
I hope you'll find a way!
Sorry for my bad English
So, while I'm no expert I'm not new to rooting and flashing. Did it quite a bit on my older Droid Inc 1, and have performed a few on my new SG3.
I have 3 backed up ROMs on my SD, Synergy, Beans and CM10. I was running Synergy and decided to give CM10 another shot to see if I could figure out what was killing NFC. So, flashed it up with ROM Manager (Used Odin previously) and everything went swimmingly. ROM was running, NFC was working, all my apps were reinstalled, no problems.....
Decided to see if I could get Wallet working on this install, so flashed it in, made the changes to build.prop and rebooted.
Heeerreeee's where the trouble started. Part way through the reboot the phone just shut down. Completely. 100%. Dead.
I had 87% battery when I started so it 'shouldn't be a battery problem. No power, no LED when I plug in the charger, no vol-up, home, power to get into recovery.
One interesting thing did happen while I was trying to get the phone up, I removed the battery for a bit, and plugged the USB cable in and got a red charging light. Put the battery back in, light still there. 1 minute later, light goes off and still nothing happening with the phone at all.
Anyone have any ideas beyond all the stuff I've given a shot to?

Have you tried borrowing someone's battery to see if you can also least boot? I have four samsung batteries for the S3 and would consider sending it to you before getting a replacement. I think the cost of a battery is $3 on Amazon.

The reasons were different but i had the same thing happen to me, my phone wouldn't boot, wouldn't show up in the computer. Nothing, i tried my wife's battery, no change there either. I left it on the charger overnight and tried turning it on in the morning and after messing with it it came back on. Haven't had an issue since. Don't know what caused it, the phone just freaked out, turned off and wouldn't turn back on.
You can also try the resistor trick to see if that will bring your phone back. Here is a cheap way to do it.
http://hackaday.com/2012/09/03/saving-a-bricked-phone-with-a-pencil-lead/ Otherwise you can go to radio shack and pick up a resistor.
If Verizon sends you your phone back cause you messed with it, there is a brick repair service for like $60 bucks PM for the link if it comes to that.

hehe.. I can't say I was pleased with having to go that route, (can't stand being defeated by electronics) but all in all I can't imagine a simple software change causing the entire unit to just go dead. Not booting properly, or locking up and such, sure... but not just dead.
By this morning I had tried another battery (a friend has an SG3 also) to no effect, but I didn't try leaving it plugged in overnight. I did check the battery with an external charger I have and it was showing fully charged....
So, I'll get a replacement and stay away from CM10 at the very least.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to mess with the NFC hack on my SGS III.
What saved me was a USB Jig I happened to have handy when I...accidentally... soft bricked a friend's Samsung Captivate a few months back. The USB Jig is used to put the SGS III into download mode when all else fails that tiny little gadget saves the day.

I have looked into those and will most likely make one very soon. (I think I have everything I'd need, just may need to cobble some resistors together).
Couple of things I noticed throughout this 'process', regarding the CM10 (9-15 nightly) ROM, NFC and google wallet....
At first install of CM10 I noticed that NFC was active and working normally. It could read my tags without issue. After Wallet was installed though, NFC disappeared. It wasn't just disabled, it simply wasn't there any more. It was after noticing this that I decided to reboot, at which point my original problem started.
The reboot never came close to completing though, it shut down before it actually made it to the 'boot' phase, as in, while it was shutting down.
The actual cause of the power off is still a mystery to me, as I can't see a simple app change causing hardware failure.
So you bricked your phone, just like a few of us did yesterday.
What did you call Verizon saying in order for them to send you a new phone?

Still Charged Up
sounds like a personal problem - wore out your vibrator... j/k
never heard of that though - have you tried reflashing the ROM or resetting your sound settings?
tried everything but refreshing back from ep4. I was really hoping it wasn't hardware. wtf do I do now? haha
If you rule everything else out and it is the motor, it can be replaced if you don't mind a little disassembly. It's typically one of the easier repairs to do. In most phone, it's just a little round, flat cylinder, about the size of a small watch or hearing aid battery, clipped to the motherboard and connected by two wires.
how much would that cost and where do I buy the motor?
I'm pretty sure the motor is actually integrated (as in soldered) onto the board. Assuming you can actually find the motor, it's going to be a PITA desoldering and soldering that sucker. Why not just get your Charge replaced?

What I have done. (I also have insurance)
ODIN with PIT
In the middle of re-partitioning with the PIT pull the plug and disconnect all battery sources.
When you turn it back on It will say to connect to the computer and download mode will not
work... Take it to the store and tell them that the vibrate alert stopped working. You checked
to see if there was an update and there was. Take the update and then this showed up. Works
every time for me >.< Any time I frail up my phone I incorrectly PIT it and make an excuse to

I use swap and my vibrate works just fine.
Sent from my AOSPA N7 controlled by Metallice's a32 Kernel.
I've had my charge since the day after it came out haha waiting on the s4 to upgrade I don't think they'll give me any more charges (I'm on #4). But not having vibrate sucks. I did hear that swap was doing this to some people and I have swap activated, I'm going to try that out for size, will report back
so i don't think replacing my charge is a possibility (unless I pull the this phone is f#@$!ng terrible card) which I'm not in the mood to do. Also, disabling swap did not help wiped dalvik also just in case that could affect anything. I was scared my phone stopped accepting charge and was about to re-partition my phone last night but it was 4am and my phone decided to work again so that's probably the last thing I can do and I'll do it when I've got some free time this weekend and report back for anyone having this same issue.
on a semi-related note what are you guys planning on upgrading to? I want to wait for the moto x but would rather get the S4 because I like what samsung has been doing with extra features in their version of android, but also the HTC M7 looks super appealing and its not mumbo jumbo like the s4

I went with the ThunderBolt. HUGE ROMS but still one of the best LTE phones out ( as in being like a tank and being sturdy)
Hey guys,
It has only been three months since I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, and I currently have a few issues that really are bugging me out. I will bullet them out to make it clean and easier for you guys to read and figure out.
ALSO -- My phone is rooted, rocking a custom rom (AOKP JB Blaze 4G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989825)
1. Every time I take a screenshot, picture, download something, or just about any piece of data, my phone for some reason saves it all to my internal storage device, which is barely 1 GB. I have a 32GB MicroSD card, and bought the SD card with the intention that I can save all my data to that, never having to worry about my 1GB internal storage getting full. Is there any way to fix this? My phone is rooted, rocking a custom ROM, and I really don't see how this can be an issue. Can someone help me to fix this issue? I am a real noob when it comes to stuff like this, so I would appreciate detailed instructions!
2. My phone currently has an issue where every time I get a notification, the 4 LED touch-buttons on the bottom of the phone start blinking. I prefer it to not blink at all (as I would instead like to save precious battery life).
3. Even though its only been three months (less than a month with the new ROM) I noticed that the battery life is not too amazing, it drains out REALLY fast for some reason. All I really do on my phone is web browsing and visiting a social media app (facebook, twitter, etc...) and that's really it. Is there a way to possibly fix this as well? Could it be the ROM
4. When I drive, I often use my phone as a GPS, and what's funny is, even though the phone is plugged in (and technically charging), the battery drains out. I don't know how that is possible, as the phone is plugged in and charging through my car. Could it just be that this phone was never meant to be used as a GPS? Or is this another problem that can have a workaround to?
Anyways, that is my list, I'd really appreciate your help to solving all those issues, as I use this phone as a daily driver, and need all of the phone's functions working without problems.
Thanks!

Im new here also as of today. Im sorry your having issues with your phone and the rom. I have been doing alot of research on this phone we have as Im still stuck on Gingerbread. I just went off contract from Tmobile and recently rooted it. Getting ready to upgrade the rom.
I have read in some posts that the JB rom did have some problems with recognizing SD cards. Seems to me that I read that this was changed in a later release. I wish I could find that thread again and show you but it escapes me. Is this a stock ROM for JB that you are using?
I do have a question for you. I want to upgrade from gingerbread and thinking CM10. However, I do have to make sure speakerphone works. Any problems there?
I would guess at this point that you should try another ROM.

1:Your going to have to flip the external and internal SD card in order to fix that. I remember there being an xposed module for that.
2: pulse notifications are enabled. I haven't run 4.1 in a long time but I think it's under the display settings.

How exactly would I flip the external and internal SD card? I am unaware of how to do this by all means.

Ok, Most likely the vold.fstab file lists the mounting points for the phones filesystem. It will probably be a text file and I would suggest making a backup copy before modifying it. Otherwise you could really screw things up.
I have not viewed this file yet because I dont know of the exact location yet. I found a link but Iam a new user and not permitted to post it. Do a search for vold.fstab and you should easily find a link for editing it.
Basically, Your going to edit the fstab file and change the settings for mounting the sdcard. I would think a reboot of your phone will probably be the last step.
Hope this helps, From one learning to another

Sorry for being late on this one, I am in the middle of exams and have been really busy.
Is there any sort solution to this that is newb-friendly (step by step), would be awesome to use my external SD card for its full use.

In the previous page wollieburger posted a link to edit the correct files. A really good guide (one post) on how to do it.

When I am changing the input from 0 to 1, the file is unable to save.

You should be able to disable the flashing LEDs (also known as pulse notifications) through the display settings.
I'm not certain if there were device settings in the 4.1 era.
Battery life on 4.1 was garbage. I could only imagine the GPS drain.
4.3 had the best.

The GPS navigation on the blaze takes a lot of battery. If you have the phone plugged in the battery won't drain as fast as compared to not having it plugged in.

To be honest, I never had a battery life problem on 4.1.2, one reason is I didn't use Google Apps (I had gapps package installed, but the minimal package), I also followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417
If you like push notifications from Gmail and other Google dependent apps, ignore that thread. Otherwise, it will improve your battery life. The other reason was I never ran cm10. I ran @thomas.raines ParanoidAndroid 4.1.2. Imo, the best cm10 based rom the Blaze had. But that's MY opinion. He's taken down the link, maybe you can try and chase him down and see if he'll re-upload it for you...
