This is not a branded firmware.
And here is the guide how to install it, how much RAM you will have and root solution, so please don't ask "how much RAM i will have after this/that method".
1. Download file from the provided link in the first post.
2. Download Odin if you already don't have it, link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539
3. Install drivers for your phone on your computer using Kies.
4. Put extracted file from I8160XXME7_I8160OJVME2_TUR.zip into Odin folder.
5. Now run Odin as Administrator, click PDA button and select file that you're unzipped. (I8160XXME7_I8160OJVME2_HOME.tar.md5)
6. Now turn off your mobile phone and go into "Download mode" by pressing menu+power+volume down keys.
7. In Odin, just below ID:COM you should see COM:4, or COM:3, or any number along COM.
8. Now everything is set and you can click start. DON'T CLICK ON REAPRTITION BUTTON.
9. You should leave your phone plugged in computer until Odin reads "PASS".
10. And now you're set to use JB on your phone.
About RAM, if you do this procedure while running Gingerbread firmware, you should have 624 RAM in Jelly Bean. The other way to have 624 mb Ram is to repartition your system, which I DON' RECOMMEND because for me, personally, system lags too much when I repartition system. But if you want to repartition use this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118119 (Credits to kyrillos13)
So if you're wondering "How much RAM will I have when upgrading to this firmware without repartitioning", the answer is 624 MB, and if you are already repartitioned your phone, you will still have 624 mb ram.
If you want to root your phone I recommend this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215996 (Credits to ddikodroid)
And one more thing, my Antutu scores are in the attachment.
if repartitioning causes lags and i already repartitioned it when flashing to MB4 then MC8 previously, would going back to GB first then flashing ME7 help? or it won't matter anymore (so i just flash straight to ME7 from MC8)?
thanks.

MF1 and ME7 are different firmwares. I Flashed MF1 yesterday only to find is rubbish on my phone (hangs, slow downs etc).
Im using ME7 for few hours and like it! I suggest anybody unhappy with mf1 to flash me7 and feel the difference
My flash history > preinstalled MC8 > MF1 > ME7. All 624MB RAM

Many people reportet that mf1 just doesn't works wonderfull if you flash from mc 8 but also many people reported that flashing directly from gb that it works much smoother and better than from mc8

Yeah, MF1 and ME7 are different firmwares but BTU and ME7 are identical. Look at the changeslist - both are the same!
Only difference is date of compilation of MC8 and ME7.
Guys stop creating threads for every firmware. I think we should have a single thread to discuss the firmware releases. Thank if you agree

But, technically it is a lot easier to discuss in one, separate thread than mix all the releases in one thread... Don't you think?

Yeah, that is what I am trying to say - if changelist is the same - interior is also the same.
Look here - all identical GB releases have got the same changelist: http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-I8160.
With JB you can create analogy...
It's simple - alphabetical order:
MB2 -> MB4 -> MC8 -> ME7 -> MF1
older -> newer
here is new things in ME7 rom. there are not in another roms mc8, mf1 etc.when plug in headphone started this mode.sorry for bad english

Anyone can confirm how is their battery life. My continue use show the display reach 5 hour usage.
there might be some batt issue with some of the 2.3.5 rom but the issue is fixed in 2.3.6..
How is the battery life for 2.3.6. Display alone or continue video play can it more than 5 hour?
Well, DXKJ2 is a stock rom. I sent my sgs+ for repair at Samsung center a few weeks ago and they upgrade this rom to my phone. Don't felt any diff frm my previous DXKG2 rom.

Do they not release updates for the same device in every country at once, or is it all staggered?

i hope the root file will come soon. i already try this ROM.
and i hope custom ROM like aorth's will be developed more for better battery and performance.

Hey guys. Recently I bought a i9003 sammy device. I rooted it with help of some guys in this forum (huge thanks to you guys). I'm all stock except of Cf-Root kernel. Everything was fine until I came up with strange problem - when my phone completely runs out of charge (when it turns off) and I try to turn it on the screen just flashes (everything is ok at this point). But when I plug in the charger and turn the phone on, it looks like it's running for the first time! Even starting guide shows up, tries to teach me about phone which I had for like 3 months lol. Every icon on the desktop is organised as in new phone (all in their place like in phone store). Allthough, all apps I had are still in my apps list, they are still working as they should except of Google play store. When I try to download anything I keep getting "process com.android.vending" has stopped working... Plea se help me guys.. It's very frustrating when every of my text message is deleted and google play store doesn't even wo.rk Thanks in advance!
Does it happen all the time?

by the way, if your flash others than your country code firmware, you will not getting chinese character.

With new firmware, beweent change log number and build date, which one is more acxurate to indicate that is a newer firmware? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure why everyone talks about build date.
The changelog is going to be your one guarantee that a firmware is in anyway different or identical to the one you already have
Quite often build dates might be different because of scheduling of the coding etc

Thanks for this. As a new comer to the Android world and having just got my S4, I note this is the firmware on my phone (online import to Australia). However, could you confirm for me:
this is a link to the Stock ROM should I need to return the original OS,
that despite this, I can still follow published methods for rooting my phone (eg "Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using Motochopper tool",
there is no problem with me moving to a British based Custom ROM such as described here "Update Galaxy S4 I9505 to official XXUAMDM Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware", and finally
Does the region software is designed for (eg Hong Kong vs Europe) have an impact on the phone's functionality and hardware abilities?

Yep
Really don't understand why they keep uploading them on hotfile, when there are far better alternatives.. or why not they could even make a torrent for the most desired builds.
Anyway.. thanks!
Now just have to wait 2 hours for this to dw despite having a 100mbps connection.

Is this method still works with this latest FW (I9505ZHUDMI1)?
I am currently implementing an alternate method of Rooting which I have found to be successful by means of Pre-Rooting the system.img.ext4 file. I have already released Pre-Rooted ROMs for previous models and wanted to continue this development for the Galaxy S4.
Why use this Root Method? Well the main reasons are:
- You have a complete Odin Flashable ROM Package.
- No Insecure Kernels are used or required.
- You can flash these packages on Non-Rooted devices
- The Binary Flash Counter will NOT increase when flashing these ROM Packages.
- And finally, you only have to flash one file in Odin and you have a complete firmware including Root Permissions.
What Root Package is used in these ROMs?
- Busybox 1.20.2 (Newer ROMs)
- SuperSU 1.51 (Newer ROMs)
Previously released ROMs may have an older Busybox and SuperSU package installed.
Please Note: This Root Method does not include a Custom Recovery. This is for people who only require Root Permissions. If you do require a Custom Recovery, you will need to flash this yourself separately.

I have my own scripts to fully automate the process and I modify the system image directly and not on the device to ensure a fully clean flashable package. I will be releasing the scripts tomorrow. I have looked at the thread you mentioned and it seems that guy has copied my layout format in some respects and changed it slightly. I have been pre-rooting rooms since the galaxy s2 so it isn't exactly a world premiere! Lol! Here are my sources and please check the thread creation dates so you know I create my own work!

Couple of questions. Is the firmware 1 or 3 part and as it a wipe rom?
I ask because I would really like to keep my apps and data without having to restore either though titanium or cwm, and if it's a 3 part is like to flash without csc to retain my current one.

Is this a ready to go system or is it still in development?
I've just got myself an S4 on EE (UK) and have been trawling all the threads to catch up on what's going on. (I've been stuck with an Atrix 4G for 2 years!)
Perfectly happy with the stock ROM but just really want to get that Root going too.

Or you can pre root your own if you have Linux knowledge.

Fantastic, thank you.
Just one more noob question before I take the plunge...does it matter at all that I'm currently at XXUBMG7 for my baseband?
I just grab that GT-I9505ZBABTU (4.2.2) (Unbranded UK) file, unzip, Odin, boom, done!?

Yep simple as that! That's the beauty of pre rooted rooms. Even system status stays official.

You absolute legend.
I'm a tad rusty with Linux sadly. It's been a good 4 years or so since I used any distro in anger.
You know what its like when you get stuck in a rut managing nothing but Windows users!
Shall give that a blast once I've got the file and sort you out a coffee or a pint too.

Fantastic. I assume you're likely to just update this thread when you're done with the new one?

Hello people, I am new to Samsung, I usually just buy a used phone to circumvent any void warranty issues (as they are cheaper I sort of self insure myself, I only got the desire new and I rooted it on the 2nd day ). My SGS4 is arriving on Tuesday and it will be new with warranty.
Could you please confirm that there is absolutely no chance what so ever to void the warranty by flashing a pre-rooted rom. I would be quite happy to use the stock rom as long as it is rooted.
I've always used HardSPL, official or unofficial (when available) S-OFF and root on my previous HTC devices and I have never ever bricked a phone.
Thank you for your help
Did you get any further with this at all? I've held off rooting for the moment but if it's going to be a while longer I will just go for it with the current one.
