Not booting system anymore (clicked "reset phone") - LG Optimus 3D

Hi guys,
I had the Darkroom V3 ROM installed (TWRP Bootloader) and since I want to sell my phone I clicked on "reset phone" in the Android settings. After the process it restarded but never booted into the system anymore, instead, everytime TWRP boots (strangely, in this mode the menu and the back button (or home and search, forgot) glow).
I already did a clean reinstall of Darkroom's ROM, but it changed nothing.
Is this the infamous "boot loop"? I have no idea what's going wrong, please help!

This setting is set by default : booting into recovery. You will notice that too in the cyanogenmod builds.
You can reset the phone by flashing a stock firmware.

I hope "stock" means, I could flash the official Android 4 Version or would I have to flash the "truly original" Gingerbread? oO

There are both official gingerbread and ics firmwares.

Okay thank you, I'll try the official ICS ROM then.

Reflashing the normal Android 4 worked, then flashed Darkroom's ROM, now got "Security Error". I read this comes from flashing a custom kernel on the stock bootloader. But TWRP is my bootload, isn't it?! So much trouble before selling the phone...
/EDIT:
I reflashed u-boot and all and now it works again, for whatever reason the loader was replaces...
But no worries, I have another problem: Since I messed up with my phone the menu-button doesn't glow anymore. Does there come anything to your mind about that?

what about
system settings -> display -> front key light

This option doesnt affect this one malfunctioning button in lighting concerns. Also, when I had freshly flashed my phone again and the soft keys were flashing for a short time, the dark button was missing. I mean it remained dark.

Nobody explained to you that TWRP is custom recovery NOT BOOTLOADER.
Bootloader is something else and here, in your case, you had official locked bootloader so you got a warning massage after you flashed the custom rom.
If you want to flash custom roms and kernels, you MUST flash wkpark's v1.25 bootloaders(custom unlocked bootloaders).
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app

Yeah I forgot about that u-loader and all, but I had flashed this before. For some reason it must have been replaced when I messed everything up by trying to reset the phone in the Adnroid settings.
Or does xball's official Android 4 include the stock bootloader? I can't remember I flashed the bootloader again when I switched to the official Android 4 (I had the SU760 before).

[Q] Nexus S i9020T Cannot Upgrade above 2.3.3

Very strange issue.
I cannot upgrade my ROM above 2.3.3 and I can't upgrade the Recovery Image to anything new as well.
Does not matter if Official ROM or Not.
I am grabbing the Official ROMs from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445570
I am currently with Android 2.3.3/GRI40/XXKB1 Radio/KA3 Bootloader
and If I try to install, 2.3.4, 2.3.6, or 4.03 the phone wont get past the "Google Logo" right from the beginning of boot. The screen will go Blank and the 4 soft keys will light up.
Before installing each ROM I am formatting/wiping cache, data, system & dalvik.
And Each ROM installation will claim that it installed successfully.
Recovery: So I am able to install ClockWork Recovery 3.0.2.4 and have it work.
I install the latest Clockwork ver. 5.0.2.0 it will install successfully, but not work.
And stop right after the Google Logo, as with ROM.
I have been at this for 2 days now. Any help would be AMAZING!!!
One last note: The phone was dropped, so maybe some how related, but I don't see how. The phone just came back from store that replaced the LCD. They claimed it was in a Recovery Loop. So I asked them to put CynogenMod. However they strangely put CynogenMod v 2.3.1 and not rooted.
are you flashing the right cwm recovery 5.x.x.x for your phone(amoled vs lcd)? try twrp recovery. do you wipe data(factory reset)before flashing? you should.
to Start, Thank you for the reply. Its very much appreciated.
So Yes, I am performing a full factory reset before flashing. And all of my most recent trials I used the native factory recovery that comes with each of the ROM's.
And I tried all of the below listed ROMs with the issue as described abouve.
Android 2.3.4/GRJ22/XXKD1 Radio/KA3 Bootloader
Official, signed, can flash with ClockworkMod or stock recovery. Contains recovery, radio and bootloader.
Android 2.3.6/GRK39F/XXKF1 Radio/KA3 Bootloader
Official, signed, can flash with ClockworkMod or stock recovery. Contains recovery, radio and bootloader.
Android 4.0.3/IML74K/XXKI1 Radio/KL1 Bootloader
Official, signed, can flash with ClockworkMod or stock recovery. Contains recovery, radio and bootloader.
And regards to the Custom Recovery(cwm) issue, I used what on the CynogenMod Wiki:
wiki(dot)cyanogenmod(dot)com/wiki/Nexus_S:_Full_Update_Guide
They don't have any differenciation between the OMOLED or Super LCD Versions:
(OMOLED I9020T, I9020A)
(Super LCD I9023)
Is there in fact different Recovery's for each of the abouve listed models????
Where would I find those recoverys?
And thank you again for your time.

try using twrp recovery, i find it more useful than clockwork recovery http://teamw.in/project/twrp2

if you want to flash the official 4.0.3, then you need to flash the official 2.3.6 first. if youre flashing a custom 4.0.3, like cm9, then you dont need 2.3.6.
Thank you for the TWRP recovery suggestion.
But still stuck without being able to flash anything above 2.3.3
Should I be able to flash official 2.3.6 on top of 2.3.3(after factory reset)?

you should be able to. try a custom rom instead of an official. lots of aosp builds in the development section. they are pretty much pure android with a few mods. theres a pure aosp build in the development section too, its pure android 4.0.3 without mods. your bootloader is unlocked, right?
Yes, bootloader is unlocked.
will give some of the aosp builds a try now

This phone is messed up. while I was in 2.3.3, the whites began to turn purple, flickering. Ugh :-(
TWRP recover, no go
I just tried codename_aosp+_crespo-ota-eng.V3.0.2, also no go
I'm beginning to suspect its a hardware issue, or maybe something else it just messed up?
perhaps flashed a wrong component somewhere???
Is it possible to reformat all internal flash drives and reparation and truly start from scratch? with all aspects of this device?
(like on a pc, low level format the hard disk and start all over....)

One more thing, anyway to know if the store that fixed my phone installed the wrong screen? LCD vs OMOLED?
clarification of the "issue" if ROM not working.
- Working phone (with 2.3.3) boot description:
You see Google Logo, and then the Logo will flicker momentarily, and Google Logo some more, and then the flying colored NEXUS logo animation, etc...
- Non functioning ROM boot description: You see the Google Logo, and then at about the time you would see the Google Logo flicker, that is when the screen goes black, and all 4 soft-keys light up. if you push the power button, sometimes the soft-keys will go black, and if you push again, light up again. At this point I have to pull the battery....
Same issue if I try to load the stock recovery from a non-functioning ROM. so Fastboot Mode will work, and then select Recovery, Google logo and then Black, with 4 lit softkeys, where the logo would normally flicker.
Why can't I install the stock firmware above 2.3.3????
I just tried the update ROM from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 or 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 (all GRI40)
What could cause this issue????
could it be a partioning issue? what would cause such a weird issue?

Alright guys I'm stuck :( (soft brick? ) please help

I did a lot of reading before I got into hacking my s3. I'm pretty new to the android development of Samsung phones, so the terms Odin and kexec are a little unfamiliar to me. I've owned and rooted and flashed 4 different HTC phones within the past 2 years successfully. But Samsung is a new ball game for me. And to my limited knowledge, I'm stuck and I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
Here's the process of what I did to my phone that got me to where I am.
1. I was able to root my phone and flash the custom recovery using using Adam outler's program successfully
2. I downloaded ez unlock boot loader from the play store and then successfully unlocked my boot loader
3. I tried to make a nandroid but I didn't know how to with the recovery I had. So I installed Rom manager and flashed cwm.
4. I downloaded the custom bean build 8 ROM, fully wiped, and attempted to flash the Rom with the Rom file sitting on the root of my phone's "sdcard"
- The zip seemed to flash correctly but then after I reboot from recovery, the screen would be sent back into recovery for some odd reason.
- I even tried to repeat the flashing process but it still resulted in sending me back to recovery after I hit reboot
5. So I restored my nandroid. Moved the Rom file to the root of extsdcard and then tried to flash it with cwm. It seemed to flash correctly once again but after I hit reboot, the phone shows the black splash screen with "Samsung galaxy s iii" in white letters then the phone shuts off. That's all that happens when I try to turn my phone on now.
Now normally if this were a HTC phone, I'd boot the phone to bootloader then recovery then restore my back up. But it's a Samsung. I know the volume down/home/power button trick but when I do that with my s3, the caution box pops up.. I hit volume up to by pass it then it just shows a big "downloading" sign that stays there forever. (I've literally left the phone sitting at the "downloading" sign for over an hour and nothing happened.)
So now I'm stuck. I no longer have a solution to get out of this situation. (I suppose this is a soft brick? )
Can anyone offer me any advice?

Use EZ-Recovery to flash CWM 6.0.1.0 and just avoid rom manager next time. Does Beans still use kexec? Could be the issue since the cwm in rom manager doesn't support it.

Yep, kexec rom (kernel) using a recovery that doesn't support it.
not sure if this can help but read this post I made, it may help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842716
Make sure you have the right CWR version which is 6.0.1 or 6.0.2. Don't mess around with flashing things in rom manager.
To get to your recovery you need to use vol up+home+power.
The vol down puts the phone into Download/ODIN mode. It's like the bootloader/hboot screen of HTC phones.
I always super wipe)cache, data, dalvil, system) before any install, nandroid or fresh rom. And then install downloaded apps with tit backup.
To use Bean's nandroids after bootloader unlock, flash a fresh copy of bean first to install kexec, then flash your nandroid.
If I understand correctly, Bean's Custom Build 9 is out and no longer needs kexec. Therefore I can now use CWM 6.0.1.2 as I did earlier and I should have no problems now that kexec is no longer necessary. Can anyone confirm that?

From what I have read in his original post for his new build, it does require an unlock and is running a custom non-kexec kernel, so it I would draw the same conclusion that you are and it should in theory work with the 6.0.1.2 version of CWM.

[OTA Help] I updated my device - Now says "Recovery Verified Failed"

Hi guys,
My tablet is rooted (and back to fully stock ROM from Acer's website). I updated OTA just a moment ago, and I was totally shocked to see the message "Booting kernal recovery image - Recovery verified failed..."
I tried rebooting, fastbooting,....they all don't work. How should I move on? What can be done now?
Please do help me. I need the tablet, and never knew such a situation could arise.
Thanks!
Sounds like your device's bootloader is locked again. Just perform a fastboot oem unlock and see whether that fixes your problem. Worked for me.
/edit: Which, of course, assumes you're able to get into fastboot. You should be able to get in using adb... what do you mean by "they all don't work"?
got the same problem. how do you get into fastboot again?

I assume yes, it is locked since I went back to a fully Stock ROM (which includes the locked bootloader?). But what has a bootloader got to do with an OTA update?
What I mean by they all don't work is that, even when I try shutting down, rebooting or enter stock recovery using the volume keys + power button, nothing works. Absolutely nothing! The screen just stays there.
I then thought, let the battery run down and maybe I can enter stock recovery and flash the zip for the stock ROM again from my SD card, but this doesn't work. The tablet just boots again to that same screen, with a message saying wiping off update cache and something to do with cdm.
I fear my device is gone. If anyone can lead me to getting back my device up and running, as a small token of appreciation, I will provide you with either $10 via PayPal or a $10 Google Play Gift Card code. This is really important for me, and I can't seem to find any help on this matter on the Internet.
I tried to update to JB, by flashing a stock rom through CWM. But then I try to get into the recovery I get hte same message. For me, if i dont try to get into the recovery it repeats an animation of the Acer logo and it never ends. I believe ill have to give it to the acer support. I also cant get into the stock recovery, so we pretty much have the same problem.

No, we don't have a same problem. I don't have CWM on my device, and I am doing an OTA. I can do absolutely NOTHING other than stare at the error message in red ink and the static Acer logo.
Okay sorry. Just want to tell you that I flashed the stock rom and so I lost CWM. If i find a way to fix mine ill tell you and it might help you.
As an update, after letting the tablets battery drain out and then charging it back up, the message I am seeing now is a little longer:
Erasing cache before SD update...
SD Update cmd: recovery
--Update_package=sdcard:update.zip
Booting recovery kernal image
Recovery verified failed...
PS: If anyone can make sense of this message, please tell me.
If I recall correctly, the stock recovery has no user interface whatsoever. All it does is offer to flash a signed update.zip from the external SD card.
I have/had CWM installed, and got the "Recovery verified failed..." message after flashing JB as well. Thing is, it appears Acer is not only flashing the system, but also a new bootloader (which explains the new key-press combos necessary to get into recovery). Why it's not working for you on a stock device I am unable to tell, but something may have gone wrong during your update.
So, suggestion: Place the update.zip from Acer on a microSD and see what happens. With any luck, it'll just flash the system contained within the zip again and it'll work.

Try this:
Here's how to get into fastboot (bootloader) manually:
Turn off your tablet
Hold the Volume Down (**) button and press the Power button
As soon as the tablet vibrates, let go of only the Power button (keep the Volume Down (**) button pressed) and immediately start switching the Screen Rotation Lock slider back and forth.
If this works continue.Connect your device to PC. Open your device manager look for fastboot under other devices and right click on it and select update driver. Then click browse my computer for driver software and locate the folder i could send by mail, just ask me. Click Next, and it might say it is a threat, but click continue (its safe as I edited it myself) and let it install. Next download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661324 and use it to unlock bootloader. Next follow instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866378 Then place a ROM from NoThrills on an external sdcard, and insert it into the tablet. If the tablet is shut down get into CWM through the key combination for ICS bootloader power and ** sound button and for JB bootloader
* PowerON+Vol-
* At the first vibration release PowerOn, keeping Vol- pressed
* At the second vibration release Vol- and press Vol+
Next flash the rom from external sdcard and reboot. Now things should work.
Guys, can anyone help me understand, why when I do an OTA on a fully stock ROM (no bootloader unlocked, no custom recovery, no custom ROM and no root), do I get the message I mention earlier? (that is: Booting recovery kernel image, Recovery verified failed...)
Mind you, I did go to a custom ROM once, which was No Thrills A700 Fraken ROM for the A510. Could that be an issue here?
Please, just help me understand why I am continuously getting this error when I do an OTA. If you can successfully explain to me, I owe you $10 (PayPal or Google Play Gift Code).
Thanks!
PS: I am not looking for a solution (don't tell me flash this and that, I've done all that). I am merely looking for an explanantion as to why the above happens.

it likely happend due to you rooting and flashing a non stock kernel.
when you apply the update off acers website after having it cwm and a customer rom i don't believe it will replace the recovery properly.
this is becasue the files on acers sites are updates and not full roms.
this is the reason why i did not do it to mine.
don't quote me on it but i had a similar issue with an old phone and ended up stuck on customer roms after that.

You mean when I flashed the A700 Franken ROM by NoThrills, that had a non-stock kernel?
If so, what can I do to get back stock kernel on my tablet? There has to be some way, right?
PS: I flashed the official files from Acer via the update.zip file from their website. From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897791

Nothrills may be able to clarify that though. i don't know too much about how these roms work.

Problem SOLVED!
Hi guys,
For all those having the "recovery verification failed" error while trying to do OTA, I know the fix!
The key is, you need to restore stock recovery manually. There's a zip file of the stock recovery here (at the bottom of the first post). Just restore stock recovery as per usual.
Steps to follow in brief:
1) Install stock recovery manually from HERE
2) If your's isn't the stock Acer ROM, download the correct ICS version for your region from HERE (place it as update.zip and follow steps as per normal to flash)
3) Go to settings>apps>all apps>systemupdater, and then clear data/cache.
4) Reboot tablet and you should get an OTA notification.
5) You're done!

tx926 all messed up

I need help trying to get back to the way it was. the bootloader is unlock, the phone will boot but here is the trouble 1. it will not do a factory reset, 2. the wireless is disabled, 3. no google apps are installed. I have used teamwin to format everything and do a install but it just updates the already installed programs. I have tried carbon and all the vers. of cm10. I also tried fastboot to install the img files. I used fastboot to format the phone all of this doesn't help. I been trying for 3 days to get back and I am getting nowhere. I need help bad.

I can format bthe cashe, data and system in in teamwin but the phone will boot back into the os
Have you tried a different recovery - like cwm? It may make a difference.
Well cm 10 is based on 4.1 and those are 4.2 gapps I believe.

Making process the problem now is the Wi-Fi is grayed out. Unit is rooted and running Jelly bean 4.2.2 with the correct gapps. Please help
I had a ton of problems with my phone when I first got it. I was using twrp but when I fastbooted and started over with cwm (oudhs version) everything went much better. Idk why but that was my experience. So I suggest trying to switch recoveries like someone else suggested.

I am unable to flash the cwm recovery or twrp also a new kernel. It takes a long time to get pasted the screen "bootloader is unlocked". Again the wifi and blue tooth are not working. the wifi when going to the advanced menu shows that region code is Europe. Changed to USA closed and reopen and it is back to Europe. Is the bootloader causing all this???? ow can I see what is in the bootloader and edit it?
Have I got everyone stumped on this problem?

problem flashing roms on moto g xt1032

Hi, I'm new to flashing roms and after installing CWM 6.0.4.7 on my xt1032 and rooting whenever i try to flash a rom it gets stuck in the boot animation. I have tried CM 11 Carbon rom and paranoid android. I don't know if I'm using the wrong GAPPS or what. Please help.
Gapps are not the problem:the same thing was happening to me. The real problem is the bootloader: if you are on kitkat, you have to revert to stock jelly bean (4.3), install custom recovery (for JB), root and flash the custom rom you desire. That's the only way that worked for me.

I tried o revert to 4.3 but when flashing boot.img it said hab check failed for boot and now when i try to boot up it goes to the unlock booloader warning turns off and repeats. I can get back to fastboot but when i try to enter recovery it shows a broken android lying sideways. I think i bricked my phone. I really need help
Go back to Stock and start from Scratch.
As long as you can enter fastboot you should be fine.
I too have suffered with this problem, today i have done as above said, reflashed 4,3 but when i onstalled the cwm 4.3 version i still suffered the same problem, so i tried the cwm4.4 and hey presto, i now have cm11 on my phone, yee haaa

Try this, when you get to the broken android follow the instructions in the link below for "external reset" this will reset your phone.
https://motorola-global-portal.cust..._detail/a_id/97329/p/30,6720,9050/action/auth
if that fails just flash a stock 4.4 image with fastboot using one of the guides.
Worked

Yes thank you so much I'm back on 4.4.2 You guys are great
hello everyone
I have a question about PaulOBrien superboot root method (look in modaco forum the moto g root method 1).
I have a 16GB Moto G and updated to Kitkat via OTA.
yesterday I used the method 1 (superboot) on windows 7, to root my phone, and run it for the first time and ended on a black screen with green bars (supposedly normal). I power off the phone and turned on and load kitkat normally and noted that the phone was not rooted.
y tried the method for a second time and have the same results (ended on a black screen with green bars), but when kirkat launched, on the initial screen i saw a message "System UIDs Inconsistent. UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable." and the system didn't respond.
I performed a factory reset via stock recobey and kitkat showed the same message but let me in the "i´m feeling lucky button" worked this time. there I noticed that my device was now rooted but non app was able to access the internal memory due to some r/w permissions as I think, because when I try to copy files to the phone via USB cable, I get have the same denial, even whit ADB push i get the same message of permissions denial.
I need a way to solve this because in this actual stage the phone works but the apps have like no access to the memory making them unusable,
for example i cannot take a picture, or download a file, for some reason all google apps not work or force close every time.
I need a way to upload a .img file to the phone in order to perform a recobery or to make a fresh install via fastboot, donn't know how to make the phone let me wrhite files on it. :crying:
(note: sorry for my bad English)

As long as you can enter the bootloader you haven't bricked anything!!! so don't you worry!
I have two questions: when did you download the stock rom, did you check the MD5 ??? Are you sure that it wasn't a bad download ?
Additionally: are you sure that you have downloaded the appropriate ROM? Did you try to flash any other ROM?

i've run out of options, so have to flash a stock 4.4 again, unless someone gives me thé idea what i can do to make it work.

I am having the same issue. I got this xt1032 after it was OTA upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.2 and I downgraded it to KitKat 4.4.4 Stock. Now I'm also getting stuck on the boot animations on every Custom ROM I try to flash on it.
Does anyone know if having the bootloader upgraded due to the Lollipop update has anything to do with this? mine is at Ver. 41.18.
EDIT: I was finally able to flash after Formatting Data from Recovery. Keep in mind this will basically delete everything from the internal storage and you need to put everything back there manually. Always make sure you backup your info/apps/music/fotos before Formatting Data.
