[Q] gangstar vegas bad graphics - General Questions and Answers

I just downloaded the new released gangstar vegas on my samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3100. But the graphic is very bad. And in the options it only shows "low and very low visual qualities". How do i make the graphics better. Thank in advance.

Legit download?

Same problem With same game and with same device
I also have this problem with this game. resolution of this game is very low on galaxy tab 2 is there any way to run this game on tab 2 with medium or high graphics

The same problem here...

Same here, galaxy tab 2 with cm10.1 framerate is fine, but only low and very low graphics are available plus low runs at lower resolution than very low wtf

The same trouble with my GT-P3110 stock 4.1.2.. Maybe editing build, prop would help.. but i am too lazy to do dat.

Maybe they haven't still optimsed it for those types of screens.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4

yeah.. the game works great on very low settings with a high resoltuion.. ON LOW SETTINGS IT IS SHOWNG BAD GRAPHIC low resolution. Maybe Gameloft messed up these settings and I hope a future patch addresses this.. On low settings there is no lag, nice graphics but the only fault is that there are no pedestrians or vehicles.. a ghost city.. In missions however the characters appear.. and i have got a vehicle to travel by spending 5000 on getting a bike delivered.. Definetely this can be addressed in a patch..

very boring with no cars and d people, they have no brain, atleast cars and people should be in every settin

I was trying to find a file with the graphics settings to be able to set the very high and I think it might be the file called "phone_performance_profiles.xml.bin" in the obb file... but I wasnt able to edit it with notepad.
I think It might work if we could edit it or if someone with a phone capable of playing it on very high would upload this file and we would just replace it.

On my Allview P5 Mini stock it works like a charm but just on low and lowest graphics.. i also have an Asus TF101 and on Low graphics it works like a charm but the resolution is lower than on my phone. I have contacted Gameloft through email and forums but they just ignored and removed my suggestions.. it would be cool to be able to change to which graphics we like on every phone even if it may cause lags.. and in case of crashes it should automatically go back to defaults.
================================
EDIT:
================================
I have been thinking about the resolution and graphics issue. We cannot replace the performance_phone_profiles.xml.bin or however it is named from a phone like galaxy S IV or Note II because it won't make a change to it. Instead we could manage to edit the file somehow. All I would need from Gameloft is to add a graphics settings just like on GTA III or Vice City on Android and iOS. Someone please send them this thread through email or forums because they're ignoring me. Thanks.
================================
EDIT 2:
================================
I forgot to mention that they set resolution lower on Low than Lowest to give us less lag.. but this doesen't mean that we should have only low and lowest. Some of our devices can run better graphics with better resolution!

I cant wait to test it!!!! Thanks bro.
BTW.. which obb file should i edit? I cannot find any profile.bin
EDIT: i am such a noob... it was in the main obb folder lol.

It does work, but still, the resolution is low. If you can fix that it would be perfect. Works like a charm on my TF101 overclocked, with SetCPU and RAM Manager Pro and High graphics.

Perfect.. It just makes Gangstar Vegas so pretty on my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.. Playing on medium. It gives a better resolution than on low and a lot more vehicles appear than on low. There is a small lag only in intense activity and for most of the time, it is lag free mainly on free roam for which i play.

Er... Could you please give precision for the place to paste the file? ^^'

Got it! Thanks!

Hey guys. I am back. Lol.
I have got a new graphics mod which has Ultra High with bloom and better draw distance etc. Just download it, place it in the obb/com.gameloft.anmp.GGHM or something like that and play. Do not change the graphics or you cannot go back to ultra until you won't replace profile.bin again. So after you place it, just do not go change the visual quality. All of them should be hite/grey, not yellow. Link: http://j.gs/2JeJ

Wow you've got me all excited... except how did you get it to work... on the site it says Android 2.xxxx
Let me know how you got it to function... I'm so there Front Mission here i come!
it just did... it didn't complain at all about android version....

PS: dont forget to get a psx bios dump on the sd card... 1001 will do fine...
Sweet thanks for the heads up... i'm off to give it a try
converting the iso to compreased eboot(psp psx image file) file with icetea seams to help with the speed a little and smaller files from a 700mb iso to a 500mb eboot maximum compression
icetea here > http://sourceforge.net/projects/icetea/
All the emulators are a pain since theres no MT. x_x
here we go MT again..... its playeble i came from resistive touch so no problem here....

It works really well - set the refresh rate to 30 or 40, and games should be smoother.
Also, I'd recommend that you use a wiimote and nunchuck to play games on it, if you have them!
MT is not an issue for many games, since you can use the hardware buttons of the xperia, just configure them so it's easy to play the game, of course you'll have trouble playing street fighter but rpgs are fine!
Has anyone tried any psp eboots? Out of curiosity...?

Why can't people gripe about this? It's stupid that there's no MT!!
Thankfully you can play most RPGs but it's still extremely prohibitive. I've encountered parts in games that I can't pass simply because there's no MT!!

agreed, so it does restrict some of hte classics from being played to their full potential like Metal gear solid or platforming games in general, which require u to jump while moving forward. also any kart or racing game like gran turismo! so i agree with the gripe .
sony better surprise us with MT by the time 2.1 comes out otherwise im going to move to a dell streak
nvm, found out myself.

anyways,
i think games should be playable on x10 by configuring the hardware buttons..will give it a try soon..
works pretty good,
have had some issues playing GT2-sim eboot
got to get more to try.
If someone could post a idiots guide to using this and using the ROMS/isos that would be great.

Sensation Screen fitting for Games & Solutions

Many people having issues with various games those doesn't fit in sensation screen..i opened this thread just to talk about any particular game and solution to make it fit for the screen of sensation.plz let's feedback each other so that we game lovers can have some fix for the games to fit our sensation screens.
Regards from roobs
Couple of games still not fitting and if you ppl have any fix or links plz share below...
games not fitting the screen :
*Asphalt 5
* Back stab
* Assassins creed
*Avatar
*Dungeon Hunter-2
*Nova-1
*Virtual pool
*Pipi Jump
*Real football 2010
*Real Football 2011
* Sacred Odyssey
*Modern combat -Sandstorm
*Shadow Guardian
* Spider man-Total mayhem
*Shrek Cart
(people are requested to tell your games' names which not fitting the screen, will be listed here)
*****************************************
And also let us know, which version of the games are working on sensation and also fitting the screen.
*****************************************
Solutions :
1) Try downloading an app called "Spare Parts".In the app, turn off compatibility mode, then restart your device. This should allow full screen on all apps. BY-zacfield (thanks buddy)
2) working gloft games and others:
*Asphalt -6
*Brothers in arms -2
*crazy snowboards
*Fast 5
*Gangster west coast hustle
*Gangster MV
*Krazy cart racing
*Modern combat -2
*NFS shift
*Plant vs zombies
*Spiderman
*Splinter cell
3)to consider about the screen resolution, i suggest the APP that call (lcd_density_changer)
changing number from 90 till 280. the less of the number you setted the high of your sensation's screen resolution has.
change the number to 240, screen resolution will be suitable for general APPs.
FYI: changing in screen resolution is on your sensation, not on the app-''thanks-chuichui0125''

How do I make GTA3 run smooth?

I am on stock 2.3.6. I installed 1.2 apk and it really lags alot.
Xperia play unrooted and stock seems to play it quite smoothly, nexus S is more powerful so surely it should run smooth??
I have the same problem and I also like to know how to fix it.. The game runs reaply badly for my usual gaming habits. I use Matrix kernel @ 1.46GHz and the latest CM9 nightly. I get really high bench scores for 4.0.3 and overall performance kicks the ass of my friends' stock Galaxy SII I-9100.

I have generally found the general section to be most responsive. That method you are saying is via root and I am not rooted.
I always played it on mute anyway, and after deleting the audio files i got a massive jump in performance (audio was being processed even with volume at 0). Personal preference, but a noticeable fps jump.
So I guess the game isnt optimized for powerVR?? It seems to run fine on adreno 205, this is disappointing.
I mainly want to play it for the nostalgic bit and the audio is really important part of it.
The nostalgia value of my GTA3 experience was with a sound bug that forced the rain to play constantly. Not really the highlight of the game for me
The sound on the Nexus S seems kind of delayed and i've noticed many games that slow down a little as sounds are meant to kick in. I don't know exactly why, maybe mediaserver isn't given good enough priority. This seems to be the same issue that plagued my GTA3 adventures though.

perhaps being rooted is the reason I have yet to experience the problems you describe. I play gta and games which are more graphic intensive than gta with np.
I don't think the processor is to blame for your inability to play the game. The ns processors have proven to be more than capable of handling most processes. Rather, the stock software does not allow the hardware to reach its full potential. In other words, the nexus s is a peacock you; you've got to let it fly.

I havent experienced lag in any other game and I have played a few. Asphalt 6 runs smooth as well.
And btw my audio runs perfect and never stutters.
I saw youtube video of overclocked nexus S running GTA3 and even that had performance issues.
just install 1.3, i used to have major lag on 1.2 on my nexus s but on 1.3 i have no lag. Huge improvement!

renaming the "audio" folder into "audio1" made the game much much smoother. i don't mind the missing sound. But isn't there a way to make it run even better? i still experience some massive lag problems...
Huge gain in performance by deleting the Audio folder. Thanks for the tip, now I can enjoy this game.

If you honestly think that your quadrant score makes your phone with a single A8 cortex core faster than two A9 cores there is something seriously wrong with you. Software tweaks can make up to 1% difference in actual performance.

The sad part is I thought I wouldnt care about the game as the controls would be really bad but they arent that bad, it's very much playable but the performance is the issue.

I don't think the tablet being too weak for games would be correct. This tablet has the cpu/gpu to run them. There is something else that is keeping games from having full compatibility or smoothness with this tablet. You can search and find theories from game developers being too lazy to properly code or there being an underlining issue with Tegra3 chips that Nvidia never addressed but was supposedly working on a patch for. More likely it's the high resolution of the screen which we all ready know causes a performance hit. I don't see that as being week since it is giving us a beautiful picture when using the tablet for various tasks. For those running a custom rom, is there the option to lower the resolution of the screen for extra performance?
To the original poster, not make it sound like you don't know what your tablet is doing, but are you running anything in the background or accidentally have battery saver set? I will try downloading this game and see what I get performance wise. I'm running a fresh stock install of 4.1 firmware.
----------
No problems for me running the game on stock firmware 4.1. Ran it in both performance and balanced mode.
Also im on cromi-x 4.5 with hunds 3.0.6 kernel today, running close to smooth with hunds kernel app that sets the cpu/gpu for games. Sadly i cant run the game on medium setting because the app wont save the settings after game relaunches
Edit: got it to change

I stated that the tf700 is too weak for this game.
I agree that the tf700 has got the potential to be a game perfomer, but unfortunately it ain't.
You elaborated the reasons for this and I think you're right.
Yet, we are not living in theories but in reality where game developers skip our device
(I tried to address some of them asking for a fix, but to no avail).
Here is an example of a correspondence I had with Get Set games inc.:
"Dear Dev,
My almost 2 year old daughter is mad about Mega Run (which she keep calling "Monkey Circles").
I am an old fan of Mega Run and Mega Jump too.
The issue is that the game's graphics are not optimised for the 10 inch screen of the Asus Infinity (TF700).
Therefore the graphics are a bit blurry.
I would appreciate it if you could help me find a solution for what I have described,
or maybe issue a version that will be optimised for our tf700's screen.
Hope my request will be considered since as I have written, we love your application.
Thanks with advance and keep up the good work.

Thanks for getting in contact with us and for the feedback. It is great to hear that you and your daughter have been enjoying Mega Run. We have just release Mega Run on Android, and with that release we chose to only have one set of graphics at a medium/high resolution. The reason we chose to do this is that most Android devices fit this resolution very well. In the future, we hope to have higher resolution graphics for tablets such as the Asus Infinity.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Mike"
IMHO - this is not a standard machine... I should have learned this sooner (before I purchased it).
Anyways, the TF700 has it's strong areas: great device for playing all kinds of media and even some games.
The mSD slot is awesome and all in all I enjoy it.
It runs fairly well, actually. Frankly, it runs smoother than Skyrim ever did on my PC. (That game used to literally freeze every 2 steps to re-render the scene. Crappy coding from Bethesda... As per bloody usual.)

You could've known the game would be blurry. Games are made with the 'hyped' devices in mind: The Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S3. Which both run 1280x800, as opposed to 'our' 1920x1200.. (Quite a significant size increase.)
Anything with a higher resolution is a HD version, and specifically has HD listed behind it. ('Angry Birds HD'.)
Give it +-six months. Then, the SGS4 and the Note 3 will be the top devices alongside the HTC One and the potential new Nexus. And developers will have no other choice but to finally make games and apps in HD.

I agree with you that eventually 1920x1080 will be a common resolution for Android devices, but I still believe Tegra 3 is too weak to run those games at full HD resolution (all Full HD devices I know have either a Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600 to power that many pixels). I have seen quite a few games that lag miserably on my tf700, even if it is optimized for Tegra. Example, Beach Buggy Blitz (running at max setting of this game is a big no-no on my tf700).
As for Skyrim, I really have no complaint about frame drop and stuttering, it runs quite smoothly on my laptop. Nevertheless, given the diversity of PC hardware, it could just be that I was lucky to have fully compatible hardware.
I don't agree : Dungeon Hunter 4 is very laggy on my tab and i am not playing that game anymore due to that issue. But i have played many hours to The Bard's Tale and it worked nearly perfectly (it would lag only when a lot of characters and huge effects, that means about 10 seconds every 4 hours) and bard's tale is imo more beautiful than dh4 and still it was developed in 2012 when hd screens were very rare. So imo the dh4 lag issue comes from poor design and programming.

It's primarily the I/O issue, not the Tegra 3.
The problem is that games are optimized for snapdragons because that's what the hyped, common-cattle owned devices (SGS3/4 & GT2) run.
SoulCraft THD: Perfectly.
SHADOWGUN THD: Perfectly.
Samurai II: Vengeance THD: Perfectly.
Puddle THD: Perfectly.
Zombie Driver THD: Perfectly.
Renaissance Blood THD: Runs well.
The Bard's Tale: Fine.
N.O.V.A. 3: Some issue with green images in main menu/intro, Game itself runs fine.
So no, it's not the Tegra 3. It's lazy developers and crap engines.
As for Skyrim, I really have no complaint about frame drop and stuttering, it runs quite smoothly on my laptop. Nevertheless, given the diversity of PC hardware, it could just be that I was lucky to have fully compatible hardware.

It's since been fixed in the patches. The issue occured during the first 3 updates (including vanilla base.). At one point I had backwards flying dragons that spun around breathing fire in mid air and stopped every few seconds as the game froze and unfroze  The engine Skyrim runs on is 12 years old, and instead of using a clean version they retasked the Fallout one with all the coding still cluttering it.
The main fault in this tablet is the i/o. Everything else is perfectly big enough to run the screen. With such crappy i/o, the tablet cannot cache applications at a rate needed, especially for files made for Full HD screens. This can be solved with a B2R tpye script or Data2SD. With Data2SD, even on a pretty cheap card, the tablet runs much much smoother. This is why the browser on stock runs so terribly. The internal i/o cant cache it fast enough. So, the Tega 3 is more then enough of power, but the problem is the i/o, which can only even start to be tweaked by unlocking/rooting, but even then there is no fix.

GPU performance has nothing to do with I/O.
I/O is slow for random writes, yes - but games usually don't write a lot to storage. The GPU is slow because it is simply not very powerful. See here:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6036/asus-transformer-pad-infinity-tf700t-review/4
With good programming, it can drive the full HD screen with acceptable framerate (see Epic Citadel), but apparently not every engine is so well optimized.

I notice the Nook HD+ that also has a 1080p display seems to play games smoother than the 700. Performance is about in between the 700 and 300, with the 300 being better overall.
The 4470 gpu is more robust for higher def displays and has dual channel memory, but a dual core. I would have expected the net result to be a wash, but does seem the dual channel memory might be the difference.
For game emulators though that are cpu heavy like MAMEreloaded, the Nook is a little faster. Gets hot in the bottom right corner though.
horrible
Yeah i tried this game. Changed graphics settings in game to lowest and had performance mode on and it still lagged like crazy. Not really my kind of game to begin with so it didn't upset me too badly, but i would have expected more from such a high end tablet.
I have uninstalled the game today : too laggy and i still believe that its code is bad (bard's tale is so much smoother on my same tab)

I know this is a bit of an old thread, I just not stumbled upon it. I've been using cromi-x for quite some time, and on earlier versions I didn't have much issue until I got into higher levels where more monsters generated, then it would lag briefly and go back to normal. As of lately I haven't even been able to play the game. I've played a few other games that seem to have similar features and get zero lag. Though I'm not a coder or developer, I feel that this is a issue with the game itself combined with i/o limitations of our tablet. SDBags has done some amazing work on his rom. I've tried all sorts of kernel and tweak combinations, none of which seem to correct the issue. To make the issue worse I was level 42 and lost my entire game and $40 worth of purchases that gameloft has yet to refund me. That, of course doesn't have anything to do with the laggy issue. I thought I would bump the thread to see if anyone else has come up with anything.

[Q] Is It Worth The Purchase Of The Skyrocket Over The Original SII?

Please let me know if it is worth the purchase of this over the original s2.Basically what I'm looking for is good gaming performance and camera quality
Then get the s iii. I727 and i777 perform very similar. Skyrocket is slightly faster than i777 ( lookup the hardware specs on gsmarena.com) and it has LTE ...

Hey I did but from experience how do big games like MC4 or Asphalt 8 run on the skyrocket?

You should get the international s2. The skyrockets SoC/processor, although technically faster by 2x300Mhz, performs worse.
I've played GTA3 on both devices:
*international S2 - game is smooth, no fps drops and high quality gfx.
*skyrocket - skyrocket is not even officially supported (you can't get GTA3 in play store), plays ok when installed manually, with constant fps drops no matter gfx settings...

As an owner of this device and one that owns gta3 I've not had any issues with fps. Can you explain how you came to those results.

Yeah i also heard people saying that the international s2 plays better games but others say that skyrocket plays better.Have you tested like Big HD games on both besides the gta3.Or does specific games play better on specific versions of the s2's

Hey have you tested Big HD games on the device?.If so which one's and how was the performance??
Take my experience with a grain of salt as it seems I'm an exception, my performance on most games has been great especially on 4.3 I define great as comparative to the hardware I'm working with. For everything I do on my phone I'm 99% satisfied.

I haven't been able to compare other games since I no longer have an S2. GTA3 is a "big hd game" and the fact that it's not available in play store for the skyrocket speaks for itself. You can buy and install it on a supported device, then copy the files to your skyrocket. It's playable, like I said it's ok. But even on the lowest settings it suffers from constant FPS drops particularly when driving. It's like GTAVC, you can install it manually but VC is even worse that when you enter a car you get like 5 frames per second.. This is on CM10.1.3 "stable". Same thing on CM10 and stock JB.

I installed it on my sr when it was on sale back during some big sale. I've never gotten fps that low either and I'm on default settings so I don't know if you're having hardware issues or if I'm lucky but I can't reproduce your results. Also I play with a ps3 controller.

So you're saying GTA3 is available for your skyrocket in playstore right now? That's weird.. Maybe the Swedish play store won't let me buy GTA3 on a Canadian phone?
"VC is even worse that when you enter a car you get like 5 frames per second"
So GTA3 is not that bad, but yes comaped to the S2 GT-i9100 it's worse and does suffer from fps drops. I get the best FPS when walking, driving instantly gives it a drop in FPS. It's not choppy but it's slower. FPS drop does not equal to utter lag, it equals to the FPS count dropping to a lower value from a higher value and this is a fact in this game on our phone. Kind of like GTASA ps2 vs pc. While on the S2 it's like on a PC, perfect. I'm also 99% satisfied with the skyrocket but this has nothing to do with that.

Thanks for the info mate cleared up alot of speculation.I thaught that the faster processor might've held up for the week GPU but it does not seem so, so I'll go for the original then

Thanks for the info mate, I might as well enjoy the big ass screen instead of the gaming lol. It's still a great phone on the other hand though
