★[8/27] [Casual] [Root, Unlock, Recovery] Vzw S3 Toolkit or 1-Click!![Up to MF1]★
DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU TOOK THE 4.3 UPDATE THIS WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE, THIS IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH FIRMWARES UP TO 4.1.2 MF1
First off BIG Thanks to Adam Outler for making CASUAL and Open sourcing it, and djrbliss for the motochopper root method!
Update: Have now Remade the Casual into more of a AIO Toolkit! Based off of adams initial idea back in the ICS days
this gives you the option to root, unlock your bootloader, flash a recovery of your choice and there is even reboot to download mode/recovery options
Fix's: New version 795b should fix device not shown as connected and misc errors
Disclaimer: This is only for the Verizon S3. DO NOT use this on any model other then the SCH-I535, as always im not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. This most likely will void your warranty.
Instructions to root/unlock/recovery:
1. enable usb debugging
2. put usb mode to mtp
3. Root Your phone with the root option (if you just want root stop here if u want to unlock bootloader and install a custom recovery continue)
4. verify root works aka go into SuperSu app and update Binary
5. flash the insecure bootloader (this unlocks the bootloader)
6. flash custom recovery of your choice (twrp, cwm, cwm touch all included)

So while trying to do this ota today i realized that flashing 5 different things just to get rooted, unlocked, and have a custom recovery was quite cumbersome. and i happen to stumble across adams video about how to make casual for pretty much any task with that i spent some time and created a 1 click Root, Unlock, Recovery Tool with casual!!

What OS? Do you have Java Runtime Environment installed? You should be able to right click the file, and go to Open With --> JRE. Or open a terminal, and type java -jar "your file name"

great tool!
I literally missed trying this by one day. I got my S3 yesterday and suppose I did it the "old-fashion way" but it's good for me bc ODIN is so foreign to me. Thanks for the great tool though!

since this uses TWRP and I prefer CWM, after this is finished, I can just flash my CWM recovery.img in odin and be fine right?

BreakDroid is a work in progress. My goal is to make a tool for Mac users that will root several different android phones and tablets as well as install the android sdk (adb).
It is very important to note that I only made the tools to automate these processes. All the developers of the root exploits and recoveries are listed below.
Current supported Devices-
Kindle Fire - Tested Version 6.2.2., 6.3 & 6.3.1
Galaxy Nexus - Seems to work. Tested with version 0.4.2+
Galaxy Note - Needs more testers - Will only work on some notes.
Droid Razr - Should also work on other Droid branded phones
All phones that can be rooted by GingerBreak
All phones that can be rooted by psneuter
All phones that can be rooted by zergRush - has been tested and works on many devices. vCheck the comments on the download page.

The download is fixed, thanks for the heads up.
I'm almost positive it can't ruin your device. I ran the Galaxy note app on a different phone about 10 times yesterday to see if it would work with no adverse effects. I can't guarantee anything but I'm pretty sure you'll be okay.

Gonna test it on a GSM Galaxy Nexus
--- edit ---
Done, everything works fine except one thing.
√ Install Android SDK installs the Android SDK in /home/ folder OK
√ Galaxy Nexus Tools starts OK
X Unlock Galaxy Nexus gives these errors before halting:
/Volumes/BreakDroid/.files/galaxynexus/unlock.sh: line 16: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
/Volumes/BreakDroid/.files/galaxynexus/unlock.sh: line 24: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Done that manually to test the other options.
√ Install recovery downloads and installs 5.5.0.4 recovery just fine and reboots to it right away.
√ Install root files does what it says, easy and painless.
And... I think that's all, I think it's kinda anoying that everytime you perform one of the steps a new browser window opens with the Paypal donation site, you may want to do that only when quitting the script or something.
Just my 2 cents. I've followed you on Twitter (@migatohacemiau), send me a PM if you need more testing on the bootloader issue
i have the following phones at my disposal:
T-mobile G2 (HTC Desire Z PC10100)
Rooted CM7
T-mobile G2X (LG Optimus 2X P999)
Rooted
Verizon Xperia Play (Sony Ericsson Zeus R800i)
Stock
T-mobile G1 (HTC Dream DREA100)
Rooted CM6
T-mobile MyTouch 4G (HTC Glacier PD15100)
Rooted CM7
T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide (HTC Espresso)
Latest Stock
how can i help, i am willing to unroot devices if necessary (im just hoping there's a big chance that they will be easily rootable after )

*Big thanks to those of you who worked on the d2att, that code was invaluable for getting a working graphics driver and some unknowns I could not see.*
Confirmed on:
- SGH-i497 (ATT)
- SGH-T779 (T-Mobile)
You can also use this to get ROOT!
Requirements:
- Windows Computer with Samsung Drivers installed
- Odin if on Windows/Heimdall on Linux
- sdcard in the /sdcard slot
1. Download my Odin package here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/58849669/espresso10att/cwm_recovery_espresso10att_childofthehorn.tar.md5
2. Download SuperSu from Chainfire and copy to your sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
3. Open Odin (as administrator) and hit the "PDA" button, remember to uncheck the reset
4. Mount Device into Download Mode (PWR, Vol) and Hit go on Odin once it appears.
5. Once Finished, Reboot into Recovery
6. Backup your existing image
7. Flash SuperSu from SDcard
8. WInning.
TO RETURN TO STOCK RECOVERY USE THIS ODIN FLASHABLE:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/58849669/espresso10att/espresso10_stock_childofthehorn.tar.md5
****In the process of doing this, I had to bust my /system in order to get the files required.
I would strongly appreciate if anyone can send me a copy of their boot.img and either a copy of their system.img or system.tar.ext4 made by clockworkmod. ****
Part of doing this was integrating everything with the d2-variant build chains in CM9 and CM10. Say thanks in the Thread if you like this or promote this thread so it makes it to the main page.

I have the ATT device as well, running a full stock rooted backup as we speak. I will get it uploaded when completed. Please hold...
Glad to hear it guys!
Very happy to know it works just as well on the T-mobile one.
I can get some custom ROMs going if I can get a copy of someone's /system and boot.img .
First goal is CM9 and then a migration to CM10.1 once that is pretty stabile.
Luckily for us, we have two amazingly complete CM sources with the d2att ( and nice d2 kernel chain!) and p5100 which cover most of our requirements as far as setup and drivers/libs.
Thank You for the support. If you like this, check out my site, say thanks, and/or vote this up onto the main site for a post so it is more visible.
I will be posting the original stock recovery.IMG in Odin flash able later tonight.

Not at all. You are merely flashing Root over your existing install. I also suggest that you make a backup prior to installing SuperSU. All of your non-native apps and contacts, etc are on /data and SuperSU does not touch /data at all.
Just posted up the Original Stock Recovery in an Odin Flashable if you want to return to stock.
Thanks for figuring this out. If you still need boot img or anything from the t-mobile version let me know. Also is it possible to add the t-mobile model number (SGH-T779) to the thread title, it would help others to find it.
Thanks again
Edit: I just saw that you added the model to the OP. Thanks again
Yeah I can extract system images from the CWM blobs if that is all you have. However a simple tar ball of /system and your boot.img would be helpful.
No more help at this time, however that might change with CM9 integration for T-Mobile.

I honestly have no idea! That Model Number did not appear in the code, however the hardware is the same and considering the partition table is almost exactly like the D2 it just might.
IF YOU DO SO, YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible!
Worst Case scenario, you will not be able to "wipe" your device in case of a failure easily until you perform a Manual update using Kies (usually the Samsung firmware has the recovery.img in it, but no guarantees!).
Get me a Copy of the Recovery.img or Full Odin Image for that device and I can probably make it work. The same would be true of the new SPH-P500 for Sprint. I do not have a Verzion version so I cannot test it. If you are a willing volunteer, let me know.
The Gtab2 10.1 LTE is Basically a Blown up Galaxy S3. However I am quickly finding that the AOSP D2 Kernel source doesnt like me much... erg.
Im out of town now but if no one shares their system I will dump mine when I get back sat morning.

Yes. Basically.
These are the standard root steps for all Samsung devices with unlocked boot loaders.

Kingo Android Root is a well-designed, aesthetically pleasing application for Windows based computers that forgoes the device specific route, and offers rooting for a lot of Android devices from a variety of manufacturers. Supported phones include the likes of Google Nexus lineup, several HTC devices including HTC One, One X, One V, Droid Eris, Motorola Defy, a number of Samsung phones, popular LG devices and some smartphones from Sony. It offers a true one-click root experience, where you have to just download the application, install it, connect your device and click Root.
There are a few things that you need to be mindful of. When connecting your device, you need to have USB Debugging enabled in Android settings. There’s no requirement for pre-installed device drivers, as the software will take care of that for you. In fact, it will give you the Root option only after the drivers have been properly configured. Past that, all you have to do is hit the Root button, and let the application work its magic.
The app pushes SuperSU binaries which are slightly outdated, but get instantly updated to the new version thanks to Google Play. However, it won’t install a custom recovery, so that part you’ll have to take care of manually. Kingo Android Root supports Android versions up to 4.3.

How to Use the Kingo Android Root One-Click Tool
Step 1. Download the Kingo Android Root windows application and install it on your Windows desktop.
Step 2. Once the installation is finished, run the application and connect the device to the computer with USB cable to start the process. Now the application will install the latest drivers on your PC.
Step 3. This will take some time to install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed on your PC, you will see a new screen on your desktop with your device name and "ROOT" button. See the screenshot below:
Step 4. Hit the ROOT Button from the app screen to begin the root process on your device.
Step 5. Be patient. It will take some time to finish the process. Once the operation is completed, you will see the “Root Succeeded” message on your screen.
Your device should now be rooted. With the help of this application you can unroot your device as well. All you have to do is select the Unroot button and follow the onscreen instructions. For more help, check the application FAQ section Mod Edit here too..
**None of this is my material. This is the work of the Kingo team.**
A good and needed write up. Thanks beerdroid!

did you end getting this resolved? reroot, reboot? keep us posted. if we iron out early problems and errors, future users will have better/quicker fixes. cheers.

It's unclear what was causing the slowness, but after a while it finally all went through and my phone is now rooted. Thanks!
I did have to restart the App several times while it was downloading the update. That also seemed to be going very slowly. My download speeds wouldn't go above 100kb/s (consistently) and after a while the download will stop at a certain percentage. I would then have to restart the app, and then it would continue from the percentage but then stop at another percentage.
I have 25+ MBps connection, so I don't think it was my internet. It could have been the laptop though for slowness on both ends, downloading and communicating with the phone. I would have to look into it further though.
Anyways, thanks for responding to me!
Did you use any other devices via USB port? I know when I did mine I had to delete my USB drivers that way it would go faster and not unmount my gs4 all the time.

[GUIDE][4.3]How to have stock permissive kernel w/o having warranty bit label at boot

It doesn't work anymore on newer 4.3 Firmwares (MJ9 with Changelist:1986587 and newer)
Hello friends,
I found a solution how to have stock permissive kernel without having warranty bit label at boot. In my approach I will explain you how it works.
→ IT WILL WORK ONLY WITH STOCK KERNEL
-> flash newest 4.3 firmware
-> root your S4 using CF-Auto-Root
-> install ES File Explorer or another root file explorer you like
-> remove Samsung KNOX manually ! (see my DE-SAMSUNGNIZER Script which apk's or folders you must delete)
-> install Universal Init.d Support and start the app (Click me)
-> enable init.d [if have problems by enabling init.d, you must have BusyBox before using the app]
-> download this script and copy it to system/etc/init.d using a file explorer
-> set the permissions to 777 (rwxrwxrwx)
-> reboot and enjoy your permissive stock kernel without having any labels at boot :good:
→ Video demonstration ←
Thanks to:
@Chainfire for CF-Auto-Root and SuperSU
@Ryuinferno for his great App
@everyone who motivated me :good:
Once again outstanding work Kaito95 Thank you. I've been using @Ryuinferno UnitD app for awhile. He is an outstanding developer. Thanks @Chainfire as well for making this all possible. Great easy steps for permissive kernel.
Not Working
Im on 4.3 complete upgrade using QBkings video, KNOX completely removed and Init.d enabled with CF AUTO root installed.
as per your OP i moved the txt file to system/etc/init.d and changed permissions as mentioned in your OP.
rebooted also, Triangle away shows counter:21.
Im on 4.3 Galaxy S4 Sprint SPH-L720
Got it figured out.
Counter Set to 0 and
system Official thanks
will it work with S4-I9500 variant also??
Yup

This does not trigger the KNOX flag?
Read the OP, Knox is removed manually first.

Yeah and you need root for that, which triggers the knox flag...

And for custom ROMs w/o Knox?
Hi all,
Is it possible that this script works even with Knox app already removed (as in Custom ROMs)?

But if we use this method there will be no Knox warranty flag in the recovery, as per op said ...

Use this method to root the firmware. Then flash the file using Odin. Read OP carefully.
