Hello peeps from XDA...
As it's obvious this is a Skyrocket S2, it's not mine it's from a friend....
My friend had ICS and rooted his phone in that version, it's his first time having an android ( he moved from apple ) and it seamed like samsung released JB for his phone ( he had the stock rom ) and he updated, after the update his phone would reboot and stay vibrating...but the problemed seamed to stop.
today he got a txt and his phone rebooted showed samsung logo and then rebooted again and stayed on vibrating every 2 seconds...
i have a factory cable on hand but it doesn't get the device on download mode it only vibrates every 2 seconds and it doesn't turn on the screen, it does the same with the battery placed on the device...
when the battery is placed without the factory cable, it load the first samsung logo, then the second ( samsung logo shinning) and reboots to start vibrating every 2 damn seconds ( it's very annoying ) also i think that apart from vibrating it makes a sound too...
it's not a sticky power button, i removed the back of the housing and connected the phone and the problem persisted.
i'm not very sure what it has, after the JB update and the first problem i showed him how to place the device in recovery mode and the device was able to enter to recovery mode but today after that txt ( whatsapp ) it's dead :/...no idea how his device got like this ? maybe after the update ?
so, can anybody tell me what can i do if i can't get to the download mode and neither the recovery mode, i'm thinking about buying a USB Jig for it since my factory cable is for a kindle fire, but i test it on a samsung galaxy Xcover and it was able to put the device on download mode i'm not sure if the config is not working for this one...
any help is welcomed and thank you all.
Stuck power button. Jig won't do anything.

Pulling the back cover off and powering the phone doesn't rule out a sticky power button, which it still sounds like is the issue.
From the stickies:
31) Q. will a usb jig unbrick my skyrocket
A. no, only jtag repair will fix a hardbricked phone that has no signs of life, look HERE in the info section for a company
no signs of life(nsol)=hardbricked
32) Q. why does my phone not start and just bootloops and/or vibrates every couple of seconds
A. could be a "sticky power button", read the next question and the info section in the 1Stop Sticky
33) Q. how do i test for a stuck "sticky" power button
A. TEST: NO CABLE PLUGGED IN: Remove then reinsert the battery and if the phone turns on by itself and then takes approx 10 sec's to turn off and then starts vibrating every couple of seconds then its for sure a power button problem, its stuck, goto the link in the previous answer for a possible fix.
The key thing you need to establish is if reinserting the battery restarts the phone w/out u touching the power button, if so then the button is stuck
34) Q. how do I replace the power button
A. If you have determined that's its a stuck power button read post #16 PROCEDURE ON REPLACING POWER BUTTON, on that thread there are pictures b4 that post

Hi
I dont know exactly what wrong with it. Yesterday, i got so many reboots. The problem is that when the phone reboots, nothing comes up except for the phone keeping on vibrating forever. I have to take out the battery, and insert it back in again. Another strange thing is that, sometimes, right after I insert the battery in, (without holding the power button) the phone starts automatically, but after the Samsung loho, it keeps on vibrating. Sometimes, it wont let me in recovery mode.
I did a clean flash of the att official Jelly bean via Odin lasf night to see if it still happened. The truth is, its just happened when I tried to get om facebook. It kept on vibrating until I pressed and held the power button twice to make it reboot. Difference between Att official jelly bean and other 4.1-4.2 rom is that att rom lets me reboot normally after pressing the power button (twice), other roms will maintain the same thing until I have lucky enough to get in recovery mode, and do a restore. However, doing a restore wont solve this prolem.
Anyone can help me plz ..
Thanks a ton.

had this issue a few days ago, it absolutely is. if you never touch the button it sometimes will turn on and work for a while.
You should try a usb jig. I hear they work the odd time for a skyrocket... Ha
Seriously though... power button.

Flash it again and what Gapps are you using? Don not restore your apps on google--->(from first boot after flashing).

This is not the issue. As all others have stated, this is the classic sticky power button issue and can only be fixed by a) mashing the heck out of it to dislodge the offending dirt or lint or whatever, b) running a toothpick or other small tipped instrument around the button, or 3) taking apart the housing and cleaning behind the button. PERIOD. Trust us, we've endured this a gazillion times and this is ALWAYS the answer.

My power button is acting as if it is pressed when it isn't. Sometimes for long enough that it shuts off. It locks and unlocks the screen by itself and turns off and turns on by itself. I have the phone opened up now and have confirmed that it is something going on inside the actual lock button mechanism and was wondering if any of you had suggestions to get it working again.

Toyes
This actually doesn't help me. It is not physically stuck, but the problem SEEMS to lie where the power button connects to the motherboard.

[Q]Can't get into Recovery Mode, possibly due 2 "sticky" power button. It got worse
Couple of things first to lay down the situation.
I'm on BEAN Builds 19,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973982
I'm also using ClockworkMod Recovery. Not sure what version.
Now my power button is one of those "sticky" ones, where it's not springy. This has caused me a few problems in which I can't seem to use the button to turn on my phone anymore. If the phone is off, I have to pull the battery, and then re=insert it to turn the phone back on. Also I'm not sure if button is "being held down", since it's so sticky, but the quick toggle options in the ROM for Restart and Recovery don't work. When I use the quick toggle for restart, my phone just turns off, and doesn't restart. As for recovery, I'll touch on that below.
Today I wanted to flash myself a new modem. So I tried to get into Recovery mode. I go into there once after a couple of tries, but the Power Button , being in the down position from the "sticky button", hit the option to restart the phone before I could flash anything/do anything. After a couple of tries of unsuccessfully getting into Recovery Mode the normal holding down buttons way, I decided to try the quick toggle in the rom to get into Recovery mode.
But just like hitting the restart option, it didn't do what I wanted it to do. My phone shut off, but that was it. Now when I try to battery pull and reinsert to get the phone to turn back on, all it does is show the Samsung Logo, turn black, and that's it. I'm assuming that it's trying to boot into Recovery Mode since that's what it was last told to do before I shut off my phone, and I also think that the "sticky power button" is throwing off the phone's attempts to do that.
Any help or direction would be great and much appreciated. Thank you for your time you took to read this.
Bang ur fone on a table. Seriously ppl been doing that on ur situation to pop out the power button. Try to cover ur fone or put a cloth on table so ur fone wont get scratch and stuff

I've got a very similar issue. Only difference is my power button is not stuck at all. However regardless of how I try to enter recovery/Download/ or simply to restart my phone I often times have to try 10 - 15 times before anything other than the Samsung splash screen into black screen of ??? Happens. Up until 5 minutes ago and hopefully for good something somehow decides to let the phone do as I had asked(told) it to do. Wish I had an answer or some help for you instead of reporting the same problem. Hopefully someone out there does.

Did you open up your phone and meter the button? If not its probably sticking. The button you see on the outside is just a contact not the actual button so it won't look compressed. Sounds like your problem is super sensitive button which is related to the sticking button in fact it was what happened to me beforeit started sticking.

Hey guys,
I need some urgent help.
My Nexus 5 device is not booting. It stucks at the bootlogo then powers off and restarts again.
Normally it wouldnt be hard to fix such an issue but the problem is :
I can't boot into bootloader (bootloader appears for 1 second then phone powers off)
I can't boot into Recovery mode (Recoverymode appears for a second then phone powers off)
I can't get my phone into fastboot mode, - it appears for a few seconds durign the bootloop as an "unknown device", but I am not able to flash a new bootloader/factoryimage.
I tried like every possible option what I can do, but nothign worked for me.
What else can I try since I can' get my phone into fastbootmode?
Bootloader is unlocked
Secureboot is enabled
(from what i can see in these 2 seconds where the bootlaoder pop's up)
Is there a way to recover my nexus5?
Symptoms of broken starter button
Posté depuis Nexus 5 / Miui7 by Miui-France
Remove the motherboard and clean around the power button. When you have cleaned around the power button, quickly press and release the power button using more pressure than normal a few times, try to boot again.
Thanks for the tips!
I never thought that a broken Button could cause this issue.
I will check it as soon as I am home.
But how am I supposed to clean the motherboard, and I don't understand how cleaning the button from the outside
of the case should help to solve this problem.
Can you guys explain it a bit more detailed please? ^^
Are there good and very detailed tutorials for this?
And yes, you ideas definitely make sense because some days earlier when the Nexus5 was still
booting fine, I remember that I sometimes had the issue when I turned of the display with the power button
it instantly turned on again and I had to turn it off like 3-5 times until it really was off (standby).
To clean around the power button, you'll have to disassemble the phone which is not hard to do it you take your time and use the right tools.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016
I noticed that the issue really was the powerbutton, - however the button was broken and
not repairable by cleaning. To repair the phone I would have to purchase a new motherboard.
In the end I decieded to purchase another phone, just saying that if someone will have the same issue in the future
try to clean first, if that wont help the powerbutton is most likely broken, and this results in a new motherboard-purchase because
the button is not repaireable by hand
The power is replaceable if the damage is confined to the power button itself.
Hello everyone
Please help me
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6633 with Android 4.4.4
Firmware is D6633_23.0.F.1.74_CE
I tried to install TWRP on my phone using this tutorial
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/root-stock-kernel-twrp-v01-test-28-09-t2889794?__utma=248941774.950623471.1412017766.1412017766.1412017766.1&__utmb=248941774.1.10.1412017766&__utmc=248941774&__utmx=-&__utmz=248941774.1412017766.1.1.utmcsr=l.facebook.com%7Cutmccn=(referral)%7Cutmcmd=referral%7Cutmcct=/lsr.php&__utmv=-&__utmk=228295838
Since the links in the thread are down it was hard for me to get the bootZ3dualmonxtest01.img file
But after an hour of googleing finally I got it from another Android forum https://mdforum.ru/showthread.php?t=16534
Then, as mentioned in the tutorial I went into bootloader / fastboot mode and entered following command
fastboot flash boot bootZ3dualmonxtest01.img
But it didn't work. Now my phone is bricked. It's powered off and I can't turn it on again
It doesn't respond to anything
Pressing Powerbutton - Nothing
Pressing Power + Volume Up/Down - Nothing
Hold Volume down and connect to PC - Nothing
Connect to 230V Adapter for charging - Nothing
ADB doesn't recognize the phone
Flashtool responds "Device disconnected"
So I can't flash back stock ROM
Please help me out. What went wrong? How can I fix it? Is it repairable or is my phone hard bricked?
Thank you for your answers
Edit:
After several hours of googleing and trying I found a solution that worked for me
Great thanks to StuartjG who posted the steps in this thread

My Z3 would not power up and no charge LED when cable plugged in. Finally found this solution on Sonymobile support website which fixed my phone!
To force the device to restart
Detach the SIM card slot cover.
Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold down the small OFF button (generally indicated by the text "OFF") until the device has emitted three vibrations, and then release the OFF button. The device turns off automatically.
Charge the device until a charging icon appears on the screen.
Turn on your Xperia™ device.
If a forced restart procedure as described above doesn't succeed in turning on your device, you should try another kind of forced restart - the 2-minute restart procedure.
To force a 2-minute restart
Detach the SIM card slot cover.
Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold down the small OFF button (generally indicated by the text "OFF") for 120 seconds (ignoring any vibrations), and then release the OFF button.
Charge the device until a charging icon appears on the screen.
Turn on your Xperia™ device.
I had to hold the 'off' button for about 60 seconds before the phone vibrated and sprung into life - phew!

In my case there were no vibrations. I just held the button down for 120sec and it worked. Then I was able to flash back stock ROM
