[Q] (Q) Can a LG Spectrum 2 be flashed to Page+, Boost, or used on GSM? - General Questions and Answers

I bought 3 LG Spectrum 2. Now I want to see fi I can flash them to page plus, one to Boost Mobile and unsure of the options for the 3rd (Possibly use it with a GSM sim)
From what I have seen this forum is frequented by some of the brightest.
Any ideas?
What I have tried.
CDMA Workshop 3.9 (full Legit version) copied IMEI from Boost handset (purely for educational purposes) both with the LTE sim in place and without LTE Sim. To the best of my recollection it restored it back to VZW and connected and would make calls. No change. (But when I logged back into my verizon account one of the Spectrums was no longer represented by the picture of the handset just the phone number)
I have switched the RUIM only to NV Only. and nothing. Any advice, recommendations.
If this is not appropriate for the forum please let me know and I will gladly remove it.
I have seen many places that prohibit discussions of handset modification.
If anyone has info how to flash a LTE handset to use with pageplus or Boost I would like any advice where to start looking to learn how to do it.
Thanks Everyone.. Have a great Summer.

Using the Sprint TP2 on AT&T network

I have a sim & security unlocked Sprint phone touch pro 2 that we use on the AT&T network, USA. It works well, and registers with AT&T, but then after a bit it gets dropped, and pops up asking if you want to register with the network again. My friend has the same thing, and we are using different ROMs, and have tried different radios, but we both have this same issue. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue, maybe a registry edit or something?
thanks.
I'm also curious about this. I'm on Verizon and was given the phone to keep from my last employer and my new one uses AT&T. I haven't done enough digging yet but wanted to *bump* this thread as I'm looking to keep my CDMA VZN phone and use it on AT&T permanently and wanted to know if there are others who have done this already.
*Anyone had success with using their CDMA phone with AT&T/Tmobile without GSM disconnecting as the OP mentions?

wooties, I read somewhere where the verizon touch pro2 works for AT&T GSM in the us, but not sure where. Search xda and ppcgeeks. I have the Sprint touch pro 2.
I just answered this one in another thread, so here is a copy and paste...
With your AT&T SIM in you probably need to set to manual network instead of automatic so it stays connected to AT&T and doesn't try to flip back to CDMA - if you've already one this, then someone else will have to jump in, but the settings are:
All Settings > Personal > Phone > Network (tab) > Mode of Operation = GSM/UMTS Only
This should keep it from jumping back to Sprint and then back to AT&T where it asks you to register again...
Remember though, with a CDMA world phone, you will only get 2G coverage here with your data as the 3G radio is a different frequency.
Hopefully that does the trick - and if not, someone else jump in and save them quick!

[Q] Sprint Google Samsung Nexus S Unlocking Problem

Okay Developers & Non-Developers, Simple Explanation to my Problem.
1)Sprint manufactures a phone with Contract lasting for 1 year. This is a CDMA phone. John buys this phone in USA.
2)After contract is over, John's Friend - Jill Takes his phone to India, Goes to Reliance CDMA Gallery and Unlocks this phone, She gets a New phone Number.
3)Now Jill is happily using the phone. Note that, She has RELIANCE network and her Phone number is "INSERTED" in the phone as this phone doesn't have a SIM Card Slot.
4)Jill deciedes to sell this phone to me. She ERASES everything including her number which was in the phone and sells it to me.
5)I already have a CDMA Reliance Phone. All i have to do is go to Reliance CDMA Gallery and "INSERT" my number in this phone.
6)When I go there, Reliance girl says "The person who used this phone before, we need her number in this". I say"But she deleted this number". She says"Get her number first or the phone is useless".
7)She does not answer her call.
8)My question- Is there anyway i can I) INSERT my Number into the phone?
(II)o something to the hardware so that I can Directly insert my CDMA Reliance SIM?
Awaiting Reply. Panic-Stricken! :crying:
You'd have to flash it yourself through CDMA WS, DFS, or qpst. Google them, but I think Dfs and qpst have free versions.. Make a backup of all the settings first through whichever flashing to you use though!

Alright, so using DFS or QPST i have to FLASH another ROM in my phone? Or REPAIR stuff within it?
First off, I'm not a professional or very good at this
so be careful, in fact, if I were you, I'd have someone else flash the phone for me. Anyways, you're not flashing a ROM, you're flashing your number and and all the other stuff that goes with it to the phone. I'd use a donor cheap junk phone that's already flashed to your line, and copy the settings from there. Then experiment with the settings to get data/MMS working

SCH-R530 from US Cellular - why no worky?

Hey ladies and gets,
I am new here and I do not have much experience. I have been on an android binge for a week now and I have read a lot of threads, and flashed my phone so many times already.
Here is the info:
Samsung Galaxy SIII (LTE I guess)
SCH-R530, and in some places it shows SCH-R530U
Currently running on the latest nightly cyo..10.2
IMEI starts with 99000... and I have checked its not stolen or anything - there is also a sticker behind the bat that confirms it.
Originally a US Cellular Phone, I want to get it working with T-Mobile.
Things I have tried:
-I got the Samsung Tool Kit (donated), received all the updates - and the phone still does not unlock the network operators.
-Used a method from youtube - CDMA Workshop - connect to the serial port - security - samsung defaults - screen on pc says unlocked but phone is not although it is answering to the program.
- No option for the network lock as known in the 530
-Used three different online services - but they said no can do.
- Called tmobile - and placed a request and they said - that IME does not correspond to the model of the phone(???)
I am a student, I can't afford to get anything else - so please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you
I don't think you can do it.
I don't believe it will work because Us cellular is cdma and T-Mobile is gsm.

There seem to be different opinions on the net. Phone like mine have the added abillity to receive CDMA radios i guess, but they do not lack any of the hardware for gsm.
I am not sure about any of this however, thats why I came here.

Just a little update:
I have not been able to make any progress at all.
I have updated my 4.3 on the regular basis - however when I did the nightly 6, and 7 both locked up on the boot menu.
Anyways, today i reinserted my tmobile sim card and when I try to make a call - I get Verizon Wireless automated services that say that i can be transferred to complete the call with a credit card and stuff.
Why verizon? this is a us cellular phone?
Also when i switch to gsm mode - it still does not locate any tmobile operators?
US Cell phone is a dead end. This thread might as well be deleted.

Vzw bought out USC... in some areas I believe? Any how now no the USC will not work on T-Mobile. At least not stock....yet. It may be possible to get voice working but that would be about it. If you could vet data the most it would possibly be is edge as far as I know.... If you want to try something I would try flashing a sch-i535 ROM of 4.0.x-4.1.1 Odin would be best but do not flash the radio/modem. I am not Of 100% on this but Odin might skip over the modem if flashing i535 ROM to the r530. If not mobile Odin is able to only flash selected partitions of choice. Make sure you use a pre rooted ROM. After that and it is successful you may be able to follow the guide posted some where in here on how to use the i535 globally. It will require APN pro I believe. And another app to be able to select gsm global (don't recall for sure) if you find the guide it will tell you. . good luck and let me know if that helps.

[Q] Dual Networks? Use CDMA & GSM simultaneously?

I bought a used XT897, did the SIM mod, and run it with AT&T, a GSM/UMTS provider. I'm wondering if I can *also* activate it with a Sprint MVNO like FreedomPop or Ting and somehow use both services alternately / at the same time, i.e. like Chinese phones with dual SIM slots. Has anyone explored this?
I'm currently running a 4.2 version of Cyanogenmod, and they split their distribution into separate UMTS and CDMA builds, so I'm guessing I'd either have to alternate between OS backups, or I'd have to simply switch to another distro / the orginal Sprint 4.1.2 Android...

bump for interest
I actually have exactly the same question.
I tried to ask LG/Samsung tech support, but either they really don't have a phone capable of that, or just don't know the answer.
I guess, it may be a matter of software supporting that as some phones (like LG G Flex 2) have radios capable of doing both.
But my feeling the 'stock rom' is only doing it in 'roaming' mode, when original provider can still get some money for the calls.
I like RingPlus and Truphone but I hate to carry 2 phones at the same time. This really sucks.
Anyone knows the answer to this thread's question?

From my experience, you can only switch between CDMA and GSM modes, so only one provider can be active at a given time. I'm using a SIM-modded Photon Q running CyanogenMod 12.1 on Ting CDMA with a FreedomPop data-only SIM card (using AT&T or T-Mobile signals) inserted. I occasionally switch to GSM to use free data on FreedomPop when traveling, at which point my CDMA phone number is essentially turned off until I switch back to CDMA mode.
My guess is that you'd need a phone with both CDMA and GSM radios that also has dual SIM card slots, which, at least in the U.S., would be difficult to find.
hi...not possible...power amp is only one and phone is maded only for one sim work.
Not possible

[Completed] [Q] Trying to switch networks

I'm trying to find out if what I would like to do is possible and if it is, how I would go about doing it. I've already spent hours scrolling threads on here looking for information. I feel like I've scratched the surface but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet to confirm whether or not I can accomplish what I'm attempting to do.
Let me start at the beginning. I own a Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A (SM-G906K) and I recently switched carriers from AT&T to Verizon. At the store I was unable to get the sim card to work with my device. I also checked the IMEI on Verizons website and it said my device was not compatible with their network. Out of necessity I picked up another phone. I know Verizon is or has been a CDMA network but from what I understand, they are transitioning or have transitioned to a GSM network. The phone I purchased at the Verizon store; a G360V; does not work without a sim card, which seems in line with any other GSM device. Furthermore, I tinkered with service mode on my G906 to get a LTE connection a while back and I saw a CDMA option in the menu. Out of curiosity, I checked out service mode again. Sure enough through navigating the main menu in service mode I can access numerous options containing "CDMA" in the title. The problem is I don't know what any of these options do.
I would like to know if there is any possible way to get my g906 working on Verizon's network. I feel like this would be more or less easy to do with an American device but since I have the Korean version, the model I own was skipped when non-Verizon devices were certified to be on the network. I assume this because apparently quite a few individuals have brought their own device on to their Verizon plan.
So my questions are: Where should I look to get more information about getting my Verizon sim to work on my g906? I see a lot of info about switching from Verizon to a different carrier but what about the other way around? Where can I get detailed explanations of the service menu options and their functions?
Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to ask is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5 Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/sm-g906s-k-l-owner-thread-t2807639 This is probably the best place to start.
