Help please? - HTC Desire S

Recently got my desire S
rooted, S-ON and unlocked bootloader
I tried flashing the sense 4.1 ROM rebirth via clockworkmod and EXT4 recovery but both have resulted in reboots into recovery.
I forgot to make a backup of my stock ROM now I am stuck.
Have tried ADB method but it just won't work
Any solution so I can try flash a different ROM so I have a phone that works?
Thanks guys
Reply ASAP
PS I have looked into this solution for hours via google and XDA. can't find a solution :/

I believe this has been answered in the Q & A thread. If not, search for 'flashing boot.img' on Google.
PS: You've posted in the wrong section.

[MISC] Desire S instructions to achieve custom ROM

could someone with a big heart tell me the instructions on what should i do after achieving S-OFF? can you post it as step by step? what should i install first? Recovery? Radio? flash? sorry for this question but im a bit confuse on what to do first after s-off until i flashed a cooked rom.. please do help me...
After root, firstly you flash a Recovery then you flash a Rom of your choice. Either with ROM Manager from the market or Manualy. You ll find more detailed instruction at the Recovery thread and the Rom thread.
when should i do a nand backup? flashing the radio? and sir whats the difference of clockworkmod recovery from ext4? because the thread of CWM says it is much better to go to ext4 thread? can you ellaborate to me?

So here is the order? S-off > root > flash with ext4 > full wipe > then install custom rom?

As it's your first time (I'd suggest)
(although as with any advice that you read on here it is given with best intention only and not necessarily correct....do this at your own risk)
1)
S-off (if by XTC this will also perform factory reset of your device so ensure you've sync'ed/ backed up data first)
2)
Download and run ginger break (to get root (then reboot)
3)
download and install the free application rom manager from android market
4)
Use rom manager to flash CWM (very simple option and it will do it for you)
5)
Use rom manager (gui - very easy) or CWM to perform your first full (Nandroid) backup
6)
follow wipe instructions that come with the custom rom installations instructions that you're planning on installing, if installing LBC rom (personally I've suggest this one) then there is a specific wipe script to run
7)
Download and Install custom rom
good luck
You can update to ext4 recovery at a later time when all the above has worked

If he uses the original CWM to do a wipe he will end up with an ext3 partition.
Better off installing cwm through rom manager and booting into recovery and flashing ext4 recovery. Then backup rom and flash custom rom.

O yer , good point, although if he installs ext4 afterwards won't it convert the ext 3 to ext4 for him?
Anyway I was suggesting that he runs LBC wipe all script that I believe will only make ext4 partitions

Sure. In my country, There're many forums about HTC or Smartphone, and many people exchange their experiences through the forum. Then I'll give you a useful website:
after you click it, choose HTC Desire S section.
It's a chinese forum. You can get some help of language from Google Translate.

edit: okay nvm i guess its bad img .. is flashing now ~
actually im waiting for alpharevx windows version... i just want to know the step by step procedure on what to do first upto the last in order so i would not end up bricking my device..
TBH I've never used Linux before but just run Ubuntu from disc and it was pretty easy
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=138
Just dont follow steps 13, 14 (since this is for another phone)
Wew! finally I was able to S-off my Desire S! but my question is what's next?
Sorry I'm a total noob on this. Btw, After the s-off process, alpharevx said if I want to install clockwork recovery, I typed "Y" then it says "downloading clockwork for saga" but after that nothing happens. It's just stuck there so I disconnected my device and rebooted it.
How can I install clockwork and how can I root my device? thanks

I can no longer get into clockwork recovery...

I am on brainmasters miui rom, and whenever I try to go into recovery the phone just gets stuck on the Google logo and doesn't move, forcing me to pull the battery. I have tried reflashing the recovery numerous times and idk what to do from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got the same problem after flashing the Clockworkmod 5.0. Then I flashed the 4.0x version (found in the rooting guide on XDA) and it's now working smoothly

You should make sure you are erasing the old recovery before flashing a new one. This can be done as a fastboot command or through the advanced options in rom manager.

Help Needed Bricked HTC One X

First off I'm very new to everything Andriod coming from iPhone for the last 4 years.
I'm in a very simular problem to ORStoner who posted a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624431
I have tried everything that people suggested to this user but I'm still locked on the HTC screen.
So I unlock the bootloader which was a success then I flashed clockwork recovery which went well. However then I flashed a zip that I got from this site http://www.guidingtech.com/10821/disable-3-three-dot-menu-htc-one-x-map-to-task-switcher-button/
I went through all the instructions but knowing me probably screwed up somewhere.
My Clockwork version is recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru
any ideas because I feel lost with no phone.
Thanks
By anychance did you make a nanroid backup from clockwork before you flashed? Also did you also wipe everything like cache,dalvik-cache,data,system,sd-android secure, you gotta make sure you DONT WIPE YOUR SD card.
Unfortunately I was stupid enough NOT to back up, rookie mistake!!!. I have cleared all Cache including dalvik. No luck, So frustrating.
I just read the last part of your post, I did wipe the SD. I need the original files to flash any idea where i can get them?
Download a rom update utility (ruu) from
Forum. Flash stock recovery (you can find in modacos thread. ) Relock bootloader using fastboot oem lock. Start ruu and follow the directions. You can unlock bootloader again later.

Soulution!~
did yoiu unlock it using the steps provided by the developers?
if so then go into recovery mode, wipe clear everything using the two options provided and reboot.

Done everything you said but I cant seem to get the RUU to work. I keep getting the message (the ROM update Utility cannot update your android phone please get the correct ROM Update utility and try again)
I have tried
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.26.401.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251208_signed
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_UK_1.26.161.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251227_signed
and
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_ARA_1.28.415.9_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_25679_signed
Im running out of ideas, Im on Vodafone BTW I dont know if this makes a difference.

Recovery problem

I'm having a problem with my recovery I did it manually through cmd and for some reason its not sticking I can boot into stock recovery but not cwm anyone have any idea what's going on ... my phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked also
Edit : nvm I figured it out

Actually just got done helping someone with a similar issue. Just refer to the link provided in the post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23125913&postcount=2
If you're on stock rooted, the stock recovery overwrites the custom. That zip should fix the issue.
I just flashed it through Rom manager it seems ok now if not I will look into that thank you for your reply

In order to make your device boot with any custom rom on it- while unlocked, s- on
you have to flash boot.img from the rom you're flashing,...
via fastboot ( on pc ) before rebooting in to system

This is a help thread you may wish to visit, ( if your search was in vain )

Well that's nice helping. Boot.IMG should be flashed after flashing Rom or before?

It shouldn't matter, as long as you do both straight after each other.
Ok. For flashing Rom I have to go to tw recovery(in my case) then flash the rom then goto bootloader and flash boot image then restart the phone. Is it like this?
