Help Needed Bricked HTC One X - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

First off I'm very new to everything Andriod coming from iPhone for the last 4 years.
I'm in a very simular problem to ORStoner who posted a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624431
I have tried everything that people suggested to this user but I'm still locked on the HTC screen.
So I unlock the bootloader which was a success then I flashed clockwork recovery which went well. However then I flashed a zip that I got from this site http://www.guidingtech.com/10821/disable-3-three-dot-menu-htc-one-x-map-to-task-switcher-button/
I went through all the instructions but knowing me probably screwed up somewhere.
My Clockwork version is recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru
any ideas because I feel lost with no phone.
Thanks

By anychance did you make a nanroid backup from clockwork before you flashed? Also did you also wipe everything like cache,dalvik-cache,data,system,sd-android secure, you gotta make sure you DONT WIPE YOUR SD card.

Unfortunately I was stupid enough NOT to back up, rookie mistake!!!. I have cleared all Cache including dalvik. No luck, So frustrating.

I just read the last part of your post, I did wipe the SD. I need the original files to flash any idea where i can get them?

Download a rom update utility (ruu) from
Forum. Flash stock recovery (you can find in modacos thread. ) Relock bootloader using fastboot oem lock. Start ruu and follow the directions. You can unlock bootloader again later.

Soulution!~
did yoiu unlock it using the steps provided by the developers?
if so then go into recovery mode, wipe clear everything using the two options provided and reboot.

RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_Vodafone_UK_1.26.161.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251227_signed
and
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_ARA_1.28.415.9_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_25679_signed
Im running out of ideas, Im on Vodafone BTW I dont know if this makes a difference.

The previous response asked a question that may help us determine what the problem is, but you didn't answer it.
I'm wondering the same. You said you tried to install "a few" recoveries. Where did you try to install them from?
In particular, some people are trying to install CWM for the wrong device (Tegra3 quad core) onto our version of the phone (Snapdragon S4 dual core) and messing up their phones.
I was on the onxroot web site and got it from there yeah I just checks I was flashing the qual core version of cwm and twrp I just flash twrp 2.18 or 17 I'm note sure and is working now but I'm not sure because I've see there is a beer version 2.20 I think but I try to flash it and it would not stay I would have to flash it every time I boot up

Don't flash things from random websites. Stick to the development subforum for our device. Also sounds like you may need to slow down, and do more research, before flashing anything more. People have been warned so many times against flashing things meant for the quad core One X, using CWM on our device, etc.
Not sure how to fix flashing the wrong recovery. Maybe somebody has some a suggestion.
My only idea would be to relock the bootloader and run the RUU. But not sure if that can somehow do more harm than good.
Just flash a proper recovery from hboot, then fastboot boot "nameofrecovery".img
I flash the right one already but it's a old version but when I try to flash the update twrp recovery it won't stick I have not done no harm to my phone it still works ims still using it

You may have actually done harm to the phone, since the partitioning on the Tega3 and Snapdragon versions of the phone is different. You're lucky you can boot at all after flashing the wrong recovery.
I had done a back up with the twrp recovery and once I try to boot up it would not load but like I said I have the correct twrp but all o need to know is can I flash the update one or what is the latest twrp version for my att HTC one x

I can't quite follow what state your phone is in at this point, but if you have a bootable, rooted system try installing GooManager (linked at the site I posted) and run the Install OpenRecovery Script option. Otherwise, download the boot.img and install it through fastboot. Instructions are on the site I linked.
Damnn thanks so much I downloaded goo from the play store and download the recovery script.IMG and i got the correct and updated version of twrp simple as that I just need to thank everyone on here for ur help tread is now closed

Horrible clarifying question

Ok everyone. Horrible question I know but here goes. I want to be right so please excuse a question I am sure has been asked many many times.
Situational info:
HTC one s s4 boot loader 1.06
No regular PC access.
Extensive knowledge and experience rooting and flashing G1 and G2X
Goal: unlock boot loader and open root access to enable flashing of roms via recovery while remaining PC independent
Steps I plan to execute:
1) unlock bootloader on htcdev site
2)grant root access following instructions(or all in one tool - your input here is appreciated)
3)instal CWM
4)download rom and kernel of choice
5) boot into boot loader, enter recovery, wipe, flash, boot
If I have any of this wrong please advise.
Again I apologize for the redundancy of this thread. Mods please delete after my process is verified to keep board clean. I only have one crack at this (PC access extremely limited) and I want to get it right.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Looks correct. First install HTC drivers & HTC Sync software (in order to unlock bootloader, I believe HTCdev site will instruct this).
I recommend (as well as many others, I believe) TWRP over CWM. ESPECIALLY if you do not have computer access. The 1S does not have S-OFF, which makes it very hard for us to flash kernels & radios. Well, not hard, but you need a PC if using CWM. Using TWRP, you can usually flash these things from your device. So definitely use TWRP for your situation.
You can't root without a PC. It's impossible. You are required to get a token that you can only get from a command prompt on the computer. Sorry, but you're out of luck. But when/if you get a PC the steps you wrote were mostly right
1) Correct
2) FLASH RECOVERY (use TWRP, CWM is not good on this device)
3) Then root by flashing a SuperSU zip in RECOVERY (that's why #2 and #2 are switched)
4) Yep
5) Always always always BACKUP YOUR ROM. Then wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache. then flash the ROM. If you have extra time you should fastboot your kernel if your hboot is below 1.13 (meaning 1.13 is NOT able to flash the kernel.)
Hope I helped. If I did press thanks
OP did mention that he will have limited PC access to perform the unlock process, so he will be able to do it initially.
Here's the link for TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677670 (make sure to use this one, the other link in the forums is for the S3 processor)
Ok so I can flash recovery as soon as I unlock boot loader and use twrp check.
The supersu, that's just a zip to flash in recovery to grant root access?
What is fasbooting kernel?
Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Will be performing this within the next two hours. Just trying to be ready so it goes off smooth. Once I get this done I need to do my friend's G2(condition for PC time lol)
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
TWRP is a recovery. You will use that instead of CWM, not in addition to.
If you're going to flash a custom rom then you don't have to worry about rooting first. The rom will be rooted already.
Fastbooting kernel is a method of using a pc + command prompt to flash the kernel on your phone. Because HTC hasn't completely "unlocked" the 1S, we need workarounds like that to do certain things. However. TWRP will allow you to flash most things, including most kernels. If you use TWRP and yout hboot is low (which yours is) you shouldn't have too many issues.
Brief note here, I won't have adb access on this pc....will I be able to flash twrp without adb? I see there is an app in the market for it but seems to require root first. Thanks again for the input
Also, downloaded roms and kernels will need to reside on my SD card. This will become an issue if pre install format/wipe kills my SD card. Please advise. Roms and kernels will need to always be installed from SD card via recovery

You need adb access. That's how you flash recovery, using command prompt on the PC.
Not sure about this app, what's the name of it? To my knowledge you need adb to flash recovery on this phone.
If this isn't possible, you will still be able to root, just not have a custom recovery or flash roms. I don't believe you need to unlock the bootloader to root...not 100% sure but I believe you can root without it, which should be pretty simple.
On twrp website there is an option to install recovery via an app called goomanager. In the app store goo manager states root required. Should I revise my steps to this:
1)unlock bl
2) root using supersu img
3)goomanager install twrp
4)use twrp to flash roms and kernels
I would really love to avoid flashing radios btw. I just feel like it might be safer to let it be. Radios always made me nervous on previous devices
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
You could download goo manager from the play store then install open recovery script from menu..then flash the SuperSU zip. You wouldn't require ADB then.

This is correct. I forgot about goomanager.
As for the radios, there isn't really too much risk on the 1S. I remember it was always a scary issue on the HD2 because of EU vs. US radios, which could cause a brick. On the 1S you can flash EU radios with no prob. Actually, some people report better performance in the US with EU radio. So yeah, don't be worried about it, it's pretty safe on this device - with normal precautions and proper flashing of course.
HOWEVER:
Make sure to only use S4 radios/roms on S4 processor. There is an S3 version of the 1S as well, and you cannot switch any roms/kernels/radios between the two.

Actually flashed most recent cm10 nightly after my go with AOKP. Still no dice. I've posted the issue on both ROM dev forums so hopefully it will get resolved. I feel like it is operator error but I have flashed each ROM twice with a full wipe before each install. I understand the process for flashing so I hope its something small I missed.

Help! Brick?

Just got the HTC One S( HTC branded S4 edition). I unlocked the boot loader, rooted , flash a recovery , and then installed CM10. Everything went well until the final install , when the Cyanogen Boot was stuck. I have no idea what I did afterwards, but now the SD is unmounted. It doesn't boot up to HTC stock , the HTC developer pages just open and stays on .. I could fastboot. I backed up everything, but somehow everything got deleted.
What to do? I need help!

Sounds to me like you forgot to flash the kernel, then did something else wrong afterwards in the attempt to fix. I have the S3 version, but I had a similar problem with the ROM getting stuck, then my recovery was unable to mount the SD. There are 2 options, one is to use fastboot to re-lock your device, and flash the latest RUU for your CID, or you can adb sideload a ROM if you are using TWRP. I would probably go for the RUU anyway because it is the easiest. Just go into the bootloader, choose 'fastboot', use the command to re-lock the bootloader (I just use the All-In-One Tool) and then run the RUU when the phone is in fastboot mode, the phone will then be good as new (except for the Tampered warning in bootloader, but that can be remedied with the S4 version)
This happened to me just flash TWRP wipe everything and get another ROM on there

[Q] [HTC one SV][Help] Serious issues trying to unlock and flash

I followed the HTCDev site for unlocking my phone. Before locking it back, I flashed the clockwork from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113671
I tried to make a backup from there but it was unable to mount system or much of anything. It made some level of backup but I am unable to get to it anyway.
I tried locking the bootloader but it said there was a security warning and wouldn't let me back into recovery so I unlocked it again. In recovery I tried to use the flash from zip option but it was unable to mount the sdcard
Now I am unable to do pretty much anything it seems. I feel like I need to get the default recovery back or something like that but I am at a loss.
Ruu or install twrp using hasoons aio.

[SOLVED] HELP PLease! Cannot go passed HTC ONE splash screen/ will not boot

I know you have seen this title a lot of times
I have looked for a thread that can help me with this but nothing helps...
Ok so here's what happened:
I had my HTC One X At&t version and everything was fine except i wasnt getting any updates. I was on version 1.73 so I decided to download the RUU for jellybean... it installed the new hboot 2.14 (the original one installed was 1.08). But the installation didnt go through after that.
Then I decided to download the other RUUs for Jellybean but some said that i wasnt charged enough even though i had 100% battery charge...
THEN I downloaded a stock deodexed image, Unlock the bootloader and installed TWRP and then flashed the stock deodexed image on my phone.
Now the phone will not go passed the HTC One splash screen :crying: I have tried wiping cache/ factory reset, and flashing the boot iimg from that deodexed zip
I can still get into fastboot and recovery i guess but not much after that! Can you guys please help me! This is the only phone I had ( just got rid of My nexus4)

SOLVED
Alright so i fixed it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891598
BAsically (Above post) is correct.
Here is what I did:
1) Unlock Bootloader
2) Flash TWRP 3.3.1
3)In TWRP, Wipe EVERYTHING (system, dalvik, cache, everything)
4) In TWRP mount as USB drive ( had to format it on Windows to be able to use it)
5) Move the ROM to your phone's storage
6)Wipe cache, dalvik cache, system, and factory reset (yes again)
7)Flash rom
From here on out i followed this thread's intructions because I was getting a bootloop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293032
8)If your're s-off or on hboot 1.09 then you can reboot to system. If your're not s-off and have hboot 1.14 or greater go to step 9
9)Reboot to bootloader and select fastboot
10)Open the rom.zip and copy the boot.img to your fastboot directory.
11)Plug phone into computer and verify connection (make sure it says Fastboot USB)
12)Flash boot.img with this command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
13Now you can reboot to system and enjoy the rom.
Now I have a fully stock HTC ONE X (unlocked) on At&t ...with 4.1.1 >>> but these instructions should work for any ROM
Thanks again for your help and concerns!
Thats what I love about XDA, people help you and you learn!
