Simple tut for cwm - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Okay first ima start off by saying the obvious I'm nor responsible for your phone or the actions you take with it nor will I ever be you want it rooted? You want cwm working? YOU want the roms? Then it YOU are the one who is responsible
On that note you can odin if something goes wrong an is a good thing to have such files on your computer just in case
Time for the tut c:
Root
Download cwm via sidekick android development sticky(can do this with phone)
File explorer (root browser)
Now make a copy an put in different folder
Extract the copy to same location
(Should be a recovery file) now move that file to /system/bin (to get to this folder you must have root an you must go as far back as you can as sd card is a sub folder in the phone)
After that you want to
Go to original cwm file
Rename to" update.zip "
Move to the sd cards main folder " / "
Now reboot phone
Reboot into recovery
Reinstall packages
Wellcome to orange cwm
From here to custom roms
Download rom you desire to use
Put in findable location on sd card
Go into recovery
Reinstall packages
Wipe everything an wipe everything in advance menu
No go to mounts
(Mounts) only need to unmount system!! For mostly every rom if you don't your phone will mess up
System unmounted
Now after mounts are in looking like that
Back out an go to install zip
install zip from sd card
Find the rom you chosen to install
Click it
Wait for it to finish then press back button
(I check mounts again because of habit)
Reboot phone
DON'T TOUCH IT... LISTEN TO THE VOICE
Don't touch for about 5-10 mins if they system mounted via voice
Will include my files in a bit

Everything downloaded well and is up and running!!! BTW boot took no longer than a usual boot on mine
Could you give some clarification on some of the notification drop down toggles and what they are? What is the little sun like icon and the circle arrow icon?
Will leave feedback as more proper use comes
I would guess the sun icon is brightness control and the circle arrow is sync

Running great so far..awesome job..thought I was gonna have to wait months for something..on point..just came reluctantly over from a g2x due to T-Mobiles lack of sympathy for the broke...any way to get instructions on how to overclock via terminal emulator?

Yup! You can use it like you would any other cwm.
pretty much all cwm features are working, nandroid backup, restore, flash rom, wipe......
Thanks for the ROM!
So, let's see if I understand how this works: the only thing we can't do yet without unlocking the bootloader is to install a different kernel. Everything else can be changed, right?

I think right now its not, but the scripting is there so if you want the OC you have to do it manually via terminal emulator or ADB shell.
I've had no problems as well. Cant wait to see the OC and a theme on it BTW loving the notification toggles!!! If airplane mode was included it would be set!!!

[Q] Can't access internal storage on EB ICS

So I flashed EB's ICS ROM recently and I noticed that I can't connect to or view my internal storage on my computer or phone. I know this is usually listed as "USB storage" on ICS ROMs but I don't have anything. If I connect it to the computer it says connected as a camera and I can only see my external microsd but not my internal =/ can someone help?
This is possibly caused by a common problem with a couple if the earlier ICS Roms. The instructuins on mounting the internal sdcard are a little messed up. It can possibly be fixed by following these steps. I did not find this myself. I am summarizing and writing a step by step of somebody else's solution.
Here is a step by step I learned from the previous post in the eaglesblood rom ICS thread..
1. Use root explorer or file explorer.. open system folder
2. Scroll down to "etc " folder and open...
3. Scroll down to "vold.fstab" file..
4. Long press on the file and select "open with" then select "text editor"
5. When that opens look at the bottom of the file.. you will see a 9. (It is the only 9 on the page...) change that 9 to an 8
6. Tap menu select save... back out and reboot the phone... the file should now tell your phone how to accurately and consistantly view the sdcard.
Let us know how it went.... (this set of Instructions is for ICS Roms... GB roms didn't have this problem as far as I know.
Credit for finding this fix goes to Mister Hat on page 7 of EaglesBlood ICS Rom thread ..

Yes, but not your internal memory. Because of some low level access issues the dev won't support it. You will just have to use a file manager on your phone to access it. It should be understood mount/emmc and will be empty since obviously you haven't been using it

Sure..just skip the first two ADB commands (make sure you have the files on your EMMC/internal storage). Start with the "su" command to get root and follow the rest of the directions.
Hello data is not dropping for me at all. Actually better signal then stock touchwiz. I recommend flashing this and trying.

Thank you very much. I am almost scared to ask the next question but when plugging my phone in to the pc i get the window that pops up and lets me go to Card or Phone. Obviously emmc/internal storage would mean for me to copy these files to Phone but I also am rooted and have CWM installed. If I did a nandroid right now before installing CM9, would I be able to restore it if needed after installing the Kexec touch CWM?
Thanks again for all help.
Yeah, I would also like to know what the LTE situation is with this. Not really pressed, though, as it's early in development. Great to see work like this happening.

[CWM] Pantech Flex P8010

Hello people,
I am proud to present CWM recovery v5.8.0.2 for the FLEX!
THIS IS NOT UPDATED FOR JELLYBEAN!!..yet
UPDATED support for either internal or external sd
THE ACTUAL CONTENTS OF THE INTERNAL SDCARD ARE LOCATED IN THE /data/media FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE /media FOLDER TO GET YOUR INTERNAL SDCARD's ZIP FILES AND STUFF WHEN CHOOSING INSTALL ZIP FROM SDCARD. ALSO THE BACKUPS YOU MAKE WILL BE STORED IN THE /data/clockworkmod/blahblah FOLDER ON THE PHONE SO I RECOMMEND YOU BUY AN EXTERNAL SD CARD BUT ITS JUST WHATEVVS.
Alright you will need a few things before you can install.
1. Rooted Pantech Flex P8010 (oscar)
2. Computer
3. Basic knowlege of adb/fastboot
4. ADB/Fastboot
READ ME (Disclaimer)
WARNING: THIS VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY
I am not responsible for you bricking your phone or anything that you do to your phone e.g. flash wrong zips , drop it in coke ect.
INSTRUCTIONS
Get a file manager such as Root Explorer and delete the FILE in the /system folder called "recovery_from_boot.p". Get the signed zip file for your desired sdcard mount point (either internal or external sd), and put it in your /external_sd or /sdcard folder. Download and put the .img file (also corresponding to the desired mount point for your sdcard) in adb folder and rename it boot.img. Then put the phone into fastboot mode (google it).
Type:
fastboot boot boot.img
And CWM recovery will pop up after a few seconds. Then choose install zip from sdcard and browse to the CWM_flex-P8010.zip and install it. Then reboot into recovery again and YAY! nandroid time :good:
BIG HUGE thanks to atadres for helping me along the way and also making the flashable zip :highfive:
Score dude! Team flex has such a bright future with these devs. Glad I could help
Bravo Timmy!

If you get the update forcefully, just reroot the phone using the previous method then install the recovery. That is what I just did and it worked for me. Syncing git repos as we speak
@timmythanoob please share how you did it....for knowledge's sake
I used a pantech burst cwm recovery and made it compatible with the flex (recovery.fstab, init.rc,) and I also used a /sbin/recovery file from an atrix 4g to get the resolution right for our screen (qHD).

[Q] Hard Bricked Sidekick 4G?

I have a Sidekick 4G. I wanted to install a new custom ROM because how crappy the stock ROM is. Anyways, I rooted my phone which went fine. Downloaded the CWM and everything was fine there. Also, took the Recovery.zip and Update.zip from this site. Extracted the Recovery File and copied it over to my SD Card. The custom ROM I attempted to install was the Glorious Overdose V2 uploaded by ayoteddy. Telling from all the work he's done, I'm pretty sure it wasn't corrupted or anything like that. After I had downloaded the zip file, I copied it into my SD Card without extracting it. So then I went to my phone. I put the phone is Recovery Mode which was fine. Went to Reinstall Package (Blue) and it went to an orange menu assuming that it was right. Then, I clicked Install ZIP from SD Card. The ROM had installed succesfully and I went back to reboot the phone. Upon rebooting, I had heard an automated voice (female) that said "Convert data partition, system is unavailable. Convert system partition." My Sidekick has been stuck on that for the day. It won't get anywhere past the screen where it says "Sidekick 4G" as it powers up. Is my phone hard bricked? I'm a bit new to all of this Custom ROM with Android thing. If bricked, any suggestions to help restore it? But until then, my phone is pretty much useless.

Common the first time go to my threads or the sticky in development an fine the kg2 odin put phone in download mode (2 ways adb or button power an track pad) adb is more reliable but takes longer getting use to it...
Anyways put phone in download mode open the odin an press start (may need drivers) keep trying won't work 1st time ussually..
After that phone is stock root it again, go to recovery an reinstall packages> wipe everything in every menu> go to mount make sure system is unmounted sd card is un mounted an the very top one it un mounted (2 one should be mounted "data" I believe o.o) > install zip > reboot after completed > should now work (the voice will come back on an say its working) don't use it for 5-10 mins after that time have fun c:

In ODIN, I pressed start. But, there was a dialogue box that said "No Binary Is Selected!'. Am I missing drivers? Or is this where I just need to keep trying?
possibly, im sure immorality will have a better answer as i dont use odin rather hiemdall
instruction here is odin ends up failing you
but immorality has proven very capable and am sure will get you through it!

I'm still a bit confused on this. What should I do after I have my phone in download mode and ODIN opened up? Just continue to hit Start even if it says "No Binary Is Selected!"?

You skipped checking your mounts man xD you don't usually need to worry about it after you get the voodoo recovery, but it is always helpful to check first.
You want to see this in your mounts and storage option in orange recovery:
Cache: mounted
Data: unmounted
Sdcard: unmounted
System: mounted
Then you can continue on and pick the zip you would like to flash. And also, you need the pit file for sk4g and the respective tar file for kg2.
Hope this is helpful

Like I've been advising the odin one click only needs the sidekick mount which will download if you don't have it.
Also I believe you mounts are wrong
Cache unmounted
Data mounted
Sd card unmounted
System unmounted
Or atleast that's what mine looks like when I install a rom

Yeah you're right actually, I knew what I was saying, however the way I typed it wasn't the way it looks, it was what they should be set to. The way that you typed them is what it should look like. That was a duh moment for me. Sorry bout that
