Hello guys! I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 rooted device and have a problem! I'm using Titanium Backup to backup all apps and datas and a week ago my Gallery app started crashing and/or blocking, blocking the whole device and I couldn't get why...it was really boring and i trying something i shouldn't have had to...I uninstalled the gallery app with titanium backup as I thought i could reinstall it from the backup, but now it's not possible to recover it anymore!
I've even tried to do a factory reset, but it didn't work either!
Can someone help me please!? I don't have a gallery app anymore!
Plus, I have problems writing on the memory card on my s3 and don't know why..i can't copy files from pc to mobile sd, like if it was blocked from writing...anyone?
for your gallery problem:
download quickpic.
its a million times better than the normal gallery. if you see the advantages of qucikpic you will never miss the normal gallery.
for your memory card:
try to plug it into the pc. maybe via an adapter.
if the problem is not there via directly plugged into the pc then tell me and i look into it further
if the problem is also there via plugged in:
maybe try to copy all data from SD to PC and format the SD card.

thank you for answering..I've tried quickpic and it is good, it's true..but what bothers me is that all the incorporated links in the apps to the gallery are missing, like for example the link in the camera app to the gallery to check the pic you've just taken is missing...

It seems there's a very strange behavior with the stock "Gallery" app:
1) All my photos were previously saved in the internal SdCard ("/storage/sdcard0/DCIM/Camera") as the default "storage" location in the (stock) Camera app settings was "Device".
2) I've now changed from "Device" to "Memory card" the storage setting of the Camera app.
3) New photos are now saved in "/storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera" as expected.
4) If I open the Gallery I can see two "camera" albums: one with all my photos taken before changing the storage location and another one with the photos taken after changing the storage setting.
All ok till now...
But if I move all my old photos to the new /storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera folder they don't show up in the Gallery!
Furthermore the Gallery doesn't show any other image saved in the external SdCard.
I've tried to clean up the data and cache of both the Gallery and the Media Storage apps and to reboot but that didn't solve the problem (and there's no ".nomedia" file in those folders).
Any suggestion or advice?
I got myself in a right mess when creating new folders within the gallery app and moving photos around, I ended up with empty folders with a kind of broken link symbol for those folders that I thought I had deleted or renamed. I tried clearing the data and cache of the gallery app but it didnt help.
Now as I never turn my tablet off as I just let it sleep when im not using it ( excellent battery !) I wasnt letting the media scanner run which seems to kick in when powering on and the os booting up. After a proper power off and on my folders are all sorted in the gallery . Forgive me if you have already tried this simple step but hopefully it may help you or others who like me never power off their tablet.

Thanks for your reply.
Anyway rebooting (power off and power on) didn't solve my problem. I've seen that the media scanner kicks in with a new reboot. Anyway it seems to ignore the media saved in the external Sd Card.
Strange thing is that the Gallery sees photos taken and automatically stored in the external Sd (after changing the the Camera settings) but not other image files copied in it.
Hi everybody,
i have a problem with my Samsung S Advance with JellyMOD 4.0 and cocore kernel 6.0.
last day i lost all my camera photo, i don't know how, why...
fortunally i restore my camera photos with diskdigger. ( i use a lot of times the stock camera )
now my question is:
1) can i save my camera photos in phone memory and sd card memory in the same time? like a raid.
so when i get a new photo, this photo will be stored in 2 different place and the risk to lost all one more time is zero.
2) i tried also to select external micro sd in stock camera but in option or settings in camera, i can select only internal memory phone, i don't understand why, i tried to formatted micro sd, wipe cache, wipe dalvik without success, but in settings and memory i can see my micro sd empty and with a file manager i can explorer my sd, put files etc, so it works... strange
i hope that someone can help me, i won't use apps lik dropbox that store my personal photos in internet, i take care about my privacy.
Hello,
I suggest you create a backup of your pictures you take using your phone camera on your computer in case this happens again. Your camera photos should be located in the default DCIM folder. I understand how weary you are of using Dropbox, but I've found the service to be very safe for remotely storing your data. Currently, I'm using Google Drive to back up my things.
I recommend you give it a try.
As the title says...
for some reason my p3110 has stopped seeing photos and mp3s on the physical sd card...
can browse to the directory of mp3s and play them and quickpic sees photos fine(just not stck app)... If I move mp3s to internal tabs sees them just for some damned reason not on sdcard!!!
Have reformated the card and tried another card and still no joy...
on stock rom rooted and modified with agni kernel...
worked fine till yesterday.

About 6 months after I bought mine GT-P3113, it stopped reading the SD card (PNY) for no apparent reason, not just photos or music, any files. I could still read the card on my PC (Windows Vista). I backed up the files and reformatted the SD card (32 GB). The Tab 2.0 would not read that card even after reformatting. I copied the files to a new disk (Sandisk), and haven't had problems in over two years. I never modified the Stock ROM however. I recall reading complaints of spontaneous SD cards problems with Samsung products. My wife has a Galaxy Tab 3, and I have had a Galaxy S3 phone for around 2 years without any SD card problems. What I did learn from the experience was to back up the Tablet/Phone periodically. I do so about every month.
The only thing I can think of for the music and photos problem is that the apps need to "refresh" somehow.

I found this solution. Practical if it is discovering a new directory, not if you need to do it for every new file.
How to refresh the gallery in Android
Posted on December 22, 2012
I was facing a problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 where the gallery was not showing the photos that were present in a certain folder. While trying to share some pics on Whatsapp I realized if Gallery cannot see them, you cannot share them. Well now I had to figure out what can be done.
While searching the net I found out the following steps to work properly for me.
Go to settings – apps – gallery
Clear cache, clear data, force close
Go to settings – apps – media storage
Clear cache, clear data, force close
Hard reset (cold boot) this will not delete any data
Next time you open Gallery it may not contain anything, but give it a minute while the system is still scanning the device & you will find that only the folders you want to be visible, are visible.
This has been quoted directly from this site
Props to janner43 for his solution / trick.
If you are not comfortable (or do not understand the steps) you might want to consult someone who knows more about Android or the reseller from whom you got your phone. I am not responsible in anyway if your device starts acting weird. Use at your own risk.
I have had problems with photos too. I discovered that if I create new folders on the sdcard and copy the photos into the new folders I can see them. I know that it seems too easy but it has worked for me several times.

Hi All,
All of a sudden google photos has stopped working and i can never get it work , i have searched around the net and tried almost all of the solutions, still no go, it wont fetch photos from photos.google.com nor it would back up photos, it gets stuck in "getting photos", sometime it gets past but does not download the photos from cloud.
I tried google photos in my old note 4 and it works great there, so i added google photos in my secure folder of s8 plus and to my surprise it works perfectly in secure folder but from secure folder it is not able to backup photos , i gave up and did a full reset of my phone and unfortunately even after a full reset , still its not working .. WTF!!!!!
i am not sure what is going on, can someone help please
If your pictures are in the sd card DCIM folder move them to internal DCIM folder and try un-mounting the sd card and see if this works. I have to un-mount sd-card everytime I want to backup, I've notified Google of this but they don't seem to care.
Thanks but my pics are only in Internal memory DCIM folder.

It doesn't matter, un-mount your sd card to see if Google Photos starts to find your photos. It will also backup if you have new photos. It happened to me and even after a reset it would get stuck on getting photos.
Wow this definitely worked , but what is the problem though, can i not have the SD card mounted for google photos to work?
Anyone have any workaround for the SD Card issue
when iwas trying to backup my internal storage (about 54gb), i got error saying something i/o error. and then...i lost 44gb of data. that is all of my pictures and video's.
i have tried fonepaw android data recovery, without succes. because fonepaw doesn't work with magisk (my SU-app, root-app).
tried SuperSU, also no succes with fonepaw.
any idea how to restore my pictures, videos. i didn't delete them.
weird part is that the rest of my device is working OK. my apps work ok, but for example pictures of whatsapp are also lost, but not the chat history. also viber chat history is OK.
offline saved pages in opera (internet browser) are also OK.
so, ant idea how to get my DCIM-map back or restore?
thanks in advance
Did you maybe back up your photos automatically via Google Photos?
Have you tried accessing your internal storage via USB?

no google drive. or any google backup
yes, connected to usb and i saw 44gb free space while my storage was full at 54,4gb.
but now i have tried wondaershare dr.fon. and much better result then fonepaw.
dr.fon recognizes my magisk-root methode. but it cann't do deep scan. that is for me good enough.
now going through 32981 files
