[Q] Problem with usb media transfer. - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I try to connect to my pc to transfer into the phone it always has device cannot start in the device manager. Multiple computers do this. Also on my mac with the android transfer program it doesnt work neither. Doesnt even detect the phone. I can put it into camera mode and transfer into it that way but its a pain. Anybody have any ideas? I was told to fix permissions but that didnt solve the issue.

Bump?...

[Q] Problems transferring large file to GTN8013

Is there a reason why I am not able to transfer a 1gb file from my pc to my tablet?
I can transfer small file, but say for instance like custom roms, i am not able to.
I read over some threads but would like to just be able to transfer without any other apps and just do it through a plug and play.
I'm about to just transfer through a sd card, but this is really annoying!
Any inputs on how to fix this or a reason why i'm not able to would be great
Thanks
You should specify if you use wireless or the usb connection to the pc. If wireless, consider a router restart and setting your security to wpa2 or wpa.

oh sorry about that. i'm actually transferring through the usb cord.
Try another usb slot, preferably not on the front panel. Also check if you have the necessary drivers. If your device is visible trough kies you should be ok. Do not use a usb hub.

[Q] Nexus 5 doesn't realize it's connected to PC

I've seen many solutions for the reverse, but not for this problem.
I've got my Nexus 5 connected to my PC right now. I'm trying to copy files off of it, but the Nexus doesn't realize it's connected to the PC. With Android debugging on, Windows realizes there's an "Unknown USB Device" connected, but Android doesn't recognize the computer is connected at all. I've tried the other computer in our house and had the same issue.
I'm running on 4.4.2, so it shouldn't be something too out there, but I can't figure out what else to do.
On the other PC, did you use a different cable?

Using a different cable I was able to get the Tethering options to show up. Activating Tethering, the Nexus 5 was recognized as a "USB Composite Device". Trying to manually specify the USB driver to use hasn't changed anything.
With the different cable, deactivate tethering then delete the device in device manager. See if anything else shows up. Could be cable issue, could be phone port issue

Got it working. At some point I unchecked both the MTP and PTP connection options, but for whatever reason plugging the phone back into the computer didn't make the notification pop up. I had to go to Settings -> Storage -> (menu) USB computer connection in order to turn it back on.
Sorry for the trouble.

G2 won't allow MTP on Mac

So this is very strange. When i use to plug my G2 into my mac and use Android File Transfer everything worked fine. Recently, I went to transfer some files over and I plugged my G2 into my macbook and it automatically chose the "PC Software" option and says "Installing PC Programs, check your computer." I go to select Media Sync (MTP) and it just automatically goes back to the PC software option. When i click Android file transfer it just tells me to plug in my USB. I have my drivers installed for my Mac and i've even tried it on my virtual terminal and the same thing keeps coming up. It's so annoying bc it use to work just fine.
Someone please help me
Have you tried a different USB cable?

Ya and same thing keeps happening. I am using the cable that came with the G2 when I got it. The same cable that I used when I use to be able to send stuff back and forth between android file transfer. It's very very strange

[Q] USB port issue

My nexus 5 suddenly stop being recognized by computer. Both media storage and picture storage mode. However it still charges when connected to computer. I tried different cables and different computers as well.
I didn't recive OTA yet, so i wanted to side load it. but its not possible without being recognize by PC.
I have tried usb debugging on & off, but still no luck.
Can anyone suggest any solution to this?
Is my device's micro-usb port get corrupted? Can factory reset help?

I have a very similar issue. I use air droid. this allows me to transfer files, like a rom, from my pc to my device via WIFI. Give it a try. Worst case scenario, it doesnt work for what you need. Best case, it does work. It doesnt hurt to find out

Phone not being recognised as a media device

Hi,
I'm sure this is a simple one but I can't solve the problem!
I have a laptop at home with windows XP which, although it will see the phone as a hardware device, will not let me transfer data to/from it. When I select PTP it works fine but nothing happens with MTP. It works fine on the work laptop...
I've tried uninstalling the drivers, re-connecting phone so the drivers are automatically loaded again to no avail. Tried switching on USB debugging too (this seem to kick start the PTP option though). It may have happened when I was loading lollipop on my phone using my laptop, but I can't be sure. I put the SDK(?) folder on my desktop which I have now deleted, although this idea my be a red herring.
I'm sure this is easy, any ideas?
Cheers.
Check there's not an acer device shown as connected as a recent windows update screwed up the drivers

Thank for the reply.
No its not showing Acer, its actually showing "Google Nexus ADB device"?!
With usb debugging both on and off?

Tried both and neither make a difference!
It'll be a driver issue, when it happens it's a pain in the ass. When you figure out the fix. You're like 'damn that was simple' always the way! Lol. Have you checked the driver issues thread?

I'm sure you're right! No I haven't I'll go have a look.
Cheers
