Hello all,
I would like to know if it is possible to modify the HTC keyboards stock dictionary. Basically I would like to force it to type "the" every time I accidentally type "Tue".
I am currently using the XDA version of the keyboard, and know that it is possible to edit the user dictionary.
Thanks.

x3, im sick of it trying to shove "OS" onto my texts instead of "is"
I think if you type the word enough it starts to use the other one.
Alright, to get to the user dictionary, pull up the keyboard and look for the microphone icon, it should also have a gear under it on that same button. long press it and this brings up the touch input settings. Scroll down to user dictionary and add or remove any words you would like. The nice thing with that is now I never text ducking to people........
Hi, I would like to know how to access HTC dictionaries too. I am currently deodexing a Gingerbread 2.3.5 ROM to try an d find the needed apk and all.
I am using a ROM which doesn't support French dictionary, spell-checking, or prediction (obviously you might say if there is no dict...) and would like to add at least this dictionary.
Could anyone point me in the right direction ? I would be grateful !
Edit : HTC_IME.apk from stock ROM did the job for me. Check my post here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521922
Hello XDA forum. This is my first time posting to the site so forgive me, I am new to this.
I was wondering if there is either an app or a method for editing the custom dictionary in swype. I find it extremely annoying that swype can easily add/save words that were typos to the dictionary. In order to remove these typos I need to highlight the word and then press the swype button. I wish there was a faster way to edit the dictionary directly as I do not know what words were accidentally added. I have a rooted evo, so if I can edit the file manually or there is another way, can someone please point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help.

but it doesnt save the words until after u press the space bar so all u gotta do is read what your typing as your typing it
Something I do after a while is clear the data on it from the applications menu. it'll clear out any words you have made, making it easier to type actual words and not short ones you might have made.

any words you type in error, and you've hit space, hit backspace so you are right up next to the word, then hit the swype icon (bottom left corner), error is removed so long as it is not already a word according to Swype
hey, i tried your method but for some reason those words just keep coming back when I type? am i doing something wrong? I restarted my phone after i did it too. do you swype fast? I dont know if maybe that's a problem if i swype too fast? well lmk what you think. thanks!

Perfect bro. That option didn't even cross my mind. That's exactly what I needed. I don't care about any words I added. I just wanted to eliminate the typo words that I had accidentally added over time. And there were many. Lol its working great now! All of your suggestions are helpful everyone! Thank you all, I really appreciate it. Perhaps swype will add access to the custom dictionary eventually. Thanks again guys.

i uninstall/clear data about 2 to 3 times between releases of the beta, because the dictionary gets so clogged it is just plain old bad and slow. i'm actually using the kb from the 'first blood theme' right now. shon+devil did a great job. i'm finally getting the hang of manually typing stuff in again, and it's actually pretty accurate. i'm not typing completely wrong words anymore, just 1 or 2 letters off sometimes. if you haven't tried it in a while, do. if you haven't tried our theme, also do.
Just got this, but the tab version not mobile version, and it's best keyboard I've used. Check it out

They keyboard is nice but the themes really blow
I HATE this keyboard, worst I've EVER used...
Even when going through the options and changing them the keyboard app tires me...
when typing sms messages it will add words when starting a sentence, predicting what I'm about to type and it's always wrong. Theres no way to remove this.
Also the spelling correction is even worse and will CHANGE words even when their correct, or simple names of places/people it will change it to something different, it's a NIGHTMARE...

Actually there is.. Go into settings, then advanced, then change "space bar will..." to "complete current word" or "always insert a space". I had some problems with it auto-adding words too at first but these settings helped me. So try that if you want
I've been using SwiftKey for a long time now and for me the autocorrection and word prediction is far better than every other keyboard I've tried. And I've tried loads of them.. Just make sure to download and set your correct language packs and set it to learn from your text messages, gmail, Facebook and so on.

best keyboard ever.
esp. if you use a couple of languages to type.
Thumb Keyboard is very good too, you can choose between different themes and layouts and adjust them.

If thumb keyboard sometime support 2 languages at the sametime it would be the best...

as does swiftkey
Have to agree. SwiftKey is superb. Just moved over to note from sensation. The mobile version is smooth and quick on the note.

did you guys notice that the very first keypress after reboot goes silent while every subsequent tap clicks? that annoyed me to no end so i had to switch to another keyboard. or was it just my note?
Is there a way for this app to not use prediction and disable those 3 boxes that shows word choices?
I want to be able to use a gesture / shortuct to be able to paste a remembered phrase or sentence. Does this exist?
I'm using CM9 and the stock messaging app I'm using has the feature. If i go in the app, and go to setting s, it's at the bottom under sms template. It will allow me to make a gesture path and attach whatever phrase or sentence i want by making the gesture on top of the messages. For instance i use an 'L' gesture to send my wife a quick 'i love you'. Hope that helps!

I wanna be able to use this in emails though too and forums.
As far as my knowledge goes, that's the only thing I've found that does that. At least that is one thing you can use it for! :-D

Not exactly... but Clip Ninja (paid -- around $1.45) is a sort of Textarea Cache/Lazarus for Android. Anything you've typed (except passwords) is saved for 7 days by default. You can star stuff to keep it. Then you can paste it into anything. Not via gestures though, but the app resides in your notifications, so you can get to it easy enough.
Multi Ling keyboard from the play store has an add-on called auto-text, where e.g. BB automatically inserts be right back. And you can define your own abbreviations and texts/phrases. But you'll have to use the keyboard in order to get it working.
Paranoid Galaxy Note N7000 - PARANOID ANDROID (CM9)
SwiftKey keyboard has this.. Kinda..
It learns your speech patterns and then suggests the most common words you typically use...
I'm my text message app before I type anything it offer "hey" then the choice of "dude" or "love". As I usually start texts like this to my buds or my wife.
I can send texts without "typing" a single word... It also works in a lot of other apps like xda premium

Thumb Keyboard has programmable "Text Shortcut" keys.
how do i add words to custom dictionary, since i'm mixing words of multiple languages it doesn't recognize them or even whem i'm shortening words.. so i need to increase the recognizeable words. but i can't find how to add words to custom dictionary...
any help would be appreciated...
If you type a word the phone doesn't know it will say 'add to dictionary'. Just tap that and it will add it to the custom dictionary, providing you're using the stock keyboard.

How do I remove something from dictionary I added by mistake?
Solved: Language and input/(samsung keyboard settings)/predictive text/my word list.
you can get an app called "UDM" to manage android native dictionary.
