I'm not sure if this is the correct location for this suggestion but instead of having a trigger area for pie in the aosp ROMs but having it set as a soft/hard key such as holding the home key. Would this be possible for an app or maybe an option for future cm release ?

I know its possible but I was unable to find anything for this specifically. Would it be possible to enable the ics soft keys and reassign the build in keys to something else or image some sort of toggle for The ics soft keys similar to honeybar for tablets. I mostly just want to reassign maybe my search button to show my recent apps possibly on long press. But it would be nice to have the optional onscreen soft keys .

For that, we would have to decompile framwork-res.apk and devs seem to be having some trouble with that

its been done on other phones
Is this a Skyrocket specific Issue?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918166 seems to have a solution where "there are no changes on the Framework-res.apk"
Is Disabling Soft Keys (When they disappear and they're not active, at all) a possibility on the gs3, i'd like to do this and then use the virtual keys in like aokp.

Does anyone know where the action for longpressing the home button is stored on TW roms? I'm on Synergy, and want to change the longpress of the home from the recent apps switcher to the menu button, but I cannot for the life of me find where that is stored. I found where nearly everything else is stored, but I just need to know where the longpress of the home button action is stored, so I can change it to MENU. Thanks!
There's an option to change hardware key settings on paranoid android. Its an aosp cm10 ROM.

It cannot be done to my knowledge unless the developer has incorporated it into the rom.

It CAN be done. You just need to find a launcher that supports it.
I use Nova launcher and you can assign an action to the home key to open whatever you want. It's not the longpress, its the press once for homescreen then when you're on the homescreen you press it again and another action comes up. Thats the action you can define using Nova.
Try this.

Valid point, but if you just want to run the rom standard tw, your stuck with what was built in.

Does this still hold true? I have remapped my menu button to back and my back button to recent applications, but am now in need of a menu key. I would like to long press home to get menu. Any ideas on how I can do this?

I know this is a vague response but I don't know where exactly, just am about 99% sure it's code is found in b the android.policy.jar, as this is were the long press for menu/back is found my guess would be the home and power button coding is found in that .jar
Hey, got a quick question and I know it's something that I could adjust in the build prop. I've been using an unofficial version of cm10 and the recent apps dialog when holding the home button for specified amount of time appears. Now in sense 3.6 it takes a little longer than that. Is there a way I can adjust it, so where I hold the home button for say 250MS the recent apps dialog appears? Thanks

It may be a simple issue to fix, but it's annoying that I can't capture my screenshot the power button and volume down combination capture screen. I'm having to go to power menu and selecting screenshot.
Any thoughts as to how I get it back to default?
I'm using Paranoid ROM 4.1-Beta 2.

PA could be using a different method (or keys are remapped when you enable in reboot menu). However it could be an error like Samsung devices have and you need to reboot for it to work (I imagine you've already tried this though)
I'm just saying this just in case because I have come across quite a few people with this issue and they were just doing it wrong.
Power and Volume down at the exact same time. If either are pressed slightly before the other it won't work.
Have you ever been able to elicit the screenshot functionality using the buttons?
If you are rooted use xposed with expansion menu when you press off key only menu Inc screen shot comes up on screen. It's in gravity box and others

Thanks guys. Reboot didn't work and I'm quite aware of how to take a screenshot as I do it often but uninstalling a Xposed module must have fixed.
I was over Xposed with tweaks lol.
Thanks guys.
