WORLD'S BIGGEST GALAXY S4 BATTERY- ZeroLemon 7500mAh Battery+Review - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

Hello there
I recently wrote a review on ZeroLemon Galaxy S3 battery and now have one for Galaxy S4. Been upgraded to the S4 lately (gf gets my S3) and found the battery being a bit pale in comparison to the S3 (software issue?). With my past positive experience using the ZL S3 7000mAh battery, I want to give this one a try too.
7500mAh Black:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXZI3DQ
7500mAh White:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXZI4WQ
DIMENSION
ZeroLemon with included TPU case:
Length: 14cm
Width: 7.1cm
Thickness: 1.6cm
This is nearly identical to the ZL Galaxy S3 battery in terms of dimension. Camera and LED portion of the case is neatly flushed out and images are clear. The case wraps around the phone like a nice glove. Hopefully the rugged version comes out soon as I hear they are developing one
I geet some messages about the speaker. Hope this clarifies
- The speaker gets cover by the battery at the back BUT there is approximately 0.02mm gap between the battery and the speaker which allows the sound to travel to the bottom of the phone case (see case picture below).
In fact, this makes the phone LOUDER when the phone back is faced down compare to the original back cover. ZeroLemon somehow able to engineer the battery + case to make it sound louder which is very impressive. I thought the S4 speaker design is pretty stupid espeically when you try to watch a movie and sound is shooting backwards away from the phone. This design shoots the sound to the side of the phone like how iPhone does it so you won't be muffling the sound by your hands (which happens with original case) when you have your phone in horizontal mode
THICKNESS
This has the exact same thickness as the galaxy s3. If you are familar and use to the ZL S3 battery like myself, you will find this just as well
WEIGHT
Since this is a bigger battery, the weight increases around 40g on the phone. In fact this phone is lighter than the Galaxy S3 suprisingly even with the larger capacity battery inside. Probably because the S4 is lighter than S3 in general
PEFORMANCE
If you are spoiled by ZL Galaxy S3 performance, then you definitely need to pick this battery up too for this is the biggest battery you can get so far. Gets me through 2 and a half day easily. This is an initial review so I will give more update later on continued performance. NFC also works well and reads my old GS3 phone.
No signal loss with this battery installed. Original cover gives me Signal = -89dBm, This extended battery gives me Signal = -88dBm. I'm using AT&T 4G network. For Wifi I used the wifi analyzer and the graph still looks the same with both battery. GPS works too and locate my location accurately. I haven't taken the phone out for trip yet. This weekend to Yosemite so it will be a testing ground for my GPS. IR works well too. The cutout for the IR receiver is correctly position in the case.
UPDATE July 3: Epic is the only word to describe this. After the Galaxy S3, I didn't think ZL can top it off but they did. This thing can run 17 hours screentime on auto brightness.
Done a road trip and with GPS at lowest brightness, 20 hours! Yes, 20 hours run. This battery is unstoppable!
Some people asking me about the case, the case is just as good as the Galaxy S3 version. At least you don't have to go out and buy an extra TPU case unlike the hard plastic cover extended battery
NFC
NFC works well. I tested this with my gf's S3 with original battery and also the ZL S3 extended battery. There's no problem whatsoever.
It's around 39 bucks for this zerolemon battery right now and it's the same price as their Galaxy S3 battery. That's an awesome deal!
This weekend i'm going on a trip so I can test this beast out and see if it's a weekend warrior like the Galaxy S3 version along with the GPS accuracy.
Next week I will take this out for a CBA battery analyzer test.

nicely flushed
Grills for sound coming out of back speaker
Gap between battery and speaker to allow sound travel to back
Battery without case
CONCLUSION:
39 dollars is totally worth it for this battery. This thing just keeps going and going. I also have the 5200mAh extended battery from other manufacturers but I'm less incline to use it because it doesn't have soft plastic protection around the case. I dont' want to fork another 6 bucks for a tpu case on those extended battery too. This really gives the bang for the bucks

Please post iif the NFC and IR work.
Also are you seeing any signal level issues?

Well the IR is at the top and it even states in the product description that NFC works and he said it worked with his GS3. Please read a little closer.

Also, quick question, should have asked this earlier.
Does the battery report it's temps?
Summer heat makes charging in the car dodgy with temps. I've already had it give me the warning it stopped charging due to temps in the summer sun.
Thanks again.

How long does it take to fully charge this battery?

Will wireless charging work with this extended battery and wireless receiver insert?

Maybe a picture of the side of the phone?

This is rather pointless. Seems to me like you're asking for the sake of asking without thinking about it properly.
Wireless charging already charges at a slower rate. This battery is HUGE. This means that battery charging rate using a wireless charger could be potentially 9 times slower. Might take half a day to charge it tirelessly at the very least.

Even though I have ordered this I have to admit I am not as excited as I was before now that I hear about the speaker. I know the Op says the speaker is louder than it was before when it was faced down, but what about when it is not faced down? I never have my phone with the speaker sitting on the table. I am fearing this will muffle the sound greatly. I hope I am wrong.

The question was whether the wireless receiver insert will still be compatible or not, with the extended battery.
Looking at the picture again I guess it will not, since the battery seems to block the connector. Just my guess.
As for your helpful comment, I guess u know that some wireless chargers deliver 1A output, which is not low by any mean. At least not 9 times lower than wired.
Wireless charging is less power efficient, but doesn't mean it can't deliver high output. It just mean it need higher input, and waste certain % of energy.

In for one, finally time to pick up the gs4. After using the gs3 one science release, it is hard to live with out ZL.
Does anyone know an external charge that would charge the zl battery?
Thinking of getting 2 and doing charge and swap.

I'm very much up for this battery but I have a question or two if you could please answer for me...
1) I have seen that the ZL for Note 2 doesn't have a tight fitting cover. Does this one fit snugly and if so does it provide any form of protection??
2) So many questions about the speaker, just let me know if everything can be heard clearly and well whether the phone is flipped upside down or not....

So I Bought A 3000mAh Cameron Sino Battery....

Hey guys, I bought the 3000mAh Cameron Sino battery on ebay for £12.50 and I love it! been using it for almost a week now and got nothing but good words for it. I got twice as much usage compared to the original battery. I am a power user and in 15hours I still got around 60% juice left, when the original battery usually had gone 0. Sure it's thicker and heavier but I prefer to have a thicker and heavier phone than a dead one! I can play with the phone as much as I want now and use those lovely live wallpapers! And I actually have a much better grip of the phone now. One minor gripe though is that the new battery cover causes the photos to have a dark grey colour on the corners like a pin hole effect. This is not the case for videos though.

I´ll rather have my phone slim and light. I´ll just keep an extra battery in my jacket for once it runs out =)

I charge the phone daily and sometimes once again midday if I run low while at work. Even though battery life is really poor, it has not been much of a problem for me yet. Since usually I'm always near a power source (home, work and Car). I also have a spare which I take if I think I'll be away from a power source for long. But so far I have not even once used the spare, because when I'm out (over the weekends or generally out with friends etc..) I don't use the phone as much. So it works out for me perfectly. . I don't have 20 home screen widgets pulling lot of crap off the net, have the Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth radios off unless I'm navigating. So the battery lasts when I'm not using it.
Here is a video of another extended battery (Mugen Power 3200mAh) for those who are interested in seeing how it looks on the phone (seek to 0:50). Personally I wouldn't buy anything like that, its too bulky and makes the phone look really ugly , YUCK !.
EDIT :
Now something like this on the other hand is more attractive than using an ugly extended battery. It gives you more power when needed, but don't have to have it always installed. Probably a better idea than carrying an extended battery (except for the size), since you don't have to switch off the phone and swap batteries , just plug this thing in when your battery is low .

I've personally been considering buying a bigger battery, but might settle on an external battery pack instead (as i need more battery power only in extreme circumstances, other times I generally have a charger or computer cable accessible)

Its only 5£ and does not reuire any battery removal. Simply clip on when required. Also comes with a car charger and multiple heads...All for 5£. I just carry it with me in case I run out and its more versatile and useable than standalone accesories.

Must admit, i am tempted with this. I don't get a full day's use out of my Galaxy S with my usage, so it is mighty tempting!
I've 'bitten the bullet' and purchased one. Maybe i'll get a full day's use out of my phone now before a charge is needed!
Just noticed this thread.
I also have the 3000mah battery.
Here's a copy/paste edited and joined few my own post's from another topic.
"Ha ha,battery sure if fat. The back cover snaps on fine and power, volume,USB connector port are as easy to access as before.
The cover it itself though does look and feel cheap and plasticy, but thats to be expected for the cheap price.
(Actually when I took off the original I notice it feels just as cheap...lol. Just more classy looking cause of the carbon fiber type pattern on it)
Almost looks like it was cut out from some hard packing plastic tray.Doesnt look so bad when its attached to the phone, shiny black.
Over all though Im glad I got it. Its not something Id use every day but it will be handy for when you havent got spare battery on you,or dont wanna change the battery. Or you cant use a charger.
First charge to about 5 hours.(with wall charger). But then I dunno how much power was in when I unpacked it so I guess a more accurate time for charging may be the next time I charge it.
Looks a bit weird, almost like a diff phone.
Here's few pics I took.

I've been using a 12v Lion battery pack off ebay, about 100mm x 75mm x 20mm.
It has a 12 DC out jack and a standard full size USB port you can plug in your usual SGS USB lead for a 5v charge output. Has a proper on/off switch and even incorporates a small LED flash-light/torch in one end.
You can use it as a back up, a charger or just an extended pack. Yes it's bulky, but it gives a pretty good extra capacity, at 5v it's rated at 4800 mAh.
Just doing an extra test, running media player and co-pilot GPS with the screen on and it's maintaining charge and I think actually charging albeit slowly.
Obviously has the benefit that you can use it for anything that will charge off USB and even run 12V appliances (only 1500mAh at 12V however, but will run an air-bed inflater enough to give you a good nights sleep).
Phil
also those speaker and camera holes are useless. the camera most likely wont work correctly and you will get a picture of part of the hole as well as echo from the speaker..
just use wall chargers with extra batteries and keep an extra battery in your pocket like i always do... one reason this version is better than iphone.. ie replaceable batteries

+1 on the Ingress. I tried it once on my Atrix and it nearly drained my battery to dead in like 30 mins. However, I think 7000mAh might be overkill for most people. Removable batteries FTW.

Surely easier just to carry a spare battery in your wallet?
Unless of course you're planning a month long trip in the jungle.
not to mention if a battery that big were to explode! you might be left with a stump of a leg!
I say that, but assuming it is a quality battery, a case that big might be nice for some people. I prefer slim, and carry an extra battery in my car or desk.
I use this one my S3 and it's amazing, best extended battery out there, I've gotten 3 day runs out of it.
And you guys are overreacting ahaha, it really isn't that big and it really adds some much needed weight to the phone and looks/feels much better then the alternative options out there obviously other then carrying around a spare battery and switching but that's a hassle keeping both charged.
A lot of the kernel devs over on the sprint s3 use it as well to try and get the best battery life possible with their constant kernel tweak updates - we call it squeezing 7000 lemons

[Review] Zerolemon 7500 MaH Battery - World's Largest Battery!

I have been using the Zerolemon 7500 mah battery for about 2 weeks and I am blown away about how well this battery preforms. It has lasted me 1 day and 21 hours with still 20% of battery left. This battery comes with NFC, TPU case, and great customer service. Overall, I love this extended battery!:good:
Here's my video review:
What was your screen on time and all that jazz?
As I've said in the past.
There are only really 2 options I think people should consider.
1) Stock with swap outs with Samsung charger and battery.
2) Zerolemon 7500 mah battery.
I've been very happy with my ZL 7500 MAH battery. Don't have any glaring issues that stick out right now that I have to mention. The only drawback *MIGHT* be the weight, but I don't find a problem with it.

So there is actually a space between the battery and the speaker which allows for the air to reverberate.
Capacity wise...wow, but I would rather carry an external charging pack than destroy the aesthetics of the phone. Not for me but if you travel regularly, it will be perfect.

The bigger issue with battery exchange is the type of protection that you're looking for in your case.
If you have a case like a defender or any other rather case that is rather time consuming to put on and remove, then battery exchange is not exactly ideal solution.
Also having another free floating item in your pockets is rather not ideal either.
Most people would rather not have to carry 2 items when they can carry 1.
Granted for some aesthetics trumps function, so to each their own.

Seems great.
Using zerolemon for 2 days now.. so far so good.. quite heavy but I like the feel when your using it.. and the case was impressive, the audio sounds even better because of the case design.. ill update my experience after two weeks

There are cut outs on the bottom, so the sound is forced out of the bottom of the phone, I prefer it more than the sound coming out the back.

I've been using this battery for a while now it's flawless!
The single downside (apart from the obvious weight and size that people seem to argue from the get go)
the sound isn't as loud as when using the stock battery, however the space between the bottom of the battery and the handset itself has enough room to fold a piece of card to ensure the speaker is kept clear and thus the sound reaches the bottom ports in the case as desired, this may not sound pretty or a particularly advanced method, but it works and you can't see this method with the case on anyway.
Give it a try I assure you, you will notice the difference!
As for the only charge once a month on the instructions... I contacted ZeroLemon...
To allow the battery to fully drain to 0% once a month, the other times charge from 2%
Click to collapse
I always charge around 2-5% and allow it to die fully once a month.
The other thing you can do when using this, assuming you're rooted...
Two apps; Android Tuner & BatteryCalibration
Android tuner > Battery Manager > Calibration > Manage > Edit Current Battery > Name: ZeroLemon Capacity: 7500
BatteryCalibration will tell you exactly what to do. However, Android tuner has been the more accurate of the two methods.
* In both methods ensure battery is full (100%) before doing this.
Hope this helps.
Make sure not drop your phone with this battery, if is so heavy, when my phone dropped to the floor, it likes a rock, cracked the phone screen to pieces.

How does warranty cover when you use a battery like this? Void?

Well I was lucky to get 10-12hrs on stock battery so I am happy with the improvement.

Just got my anker 7800 mah battery I actually like the case better than the ZL rugged or tpu case. Plus the battery doesn't cover the speaker. Not really noticeably thicker than the zl tpu case.

Ordered the same capacity, different brand 2 days ago. Wonder how long 7500mah will last. I get 2 days of normal use with stock.

3500 mah battery same as stock in size...

After someone had mentioned 3500 battery on ebay that was the same size as the stock battery, had to check it out...
Anyone else had any experience with this battery?
Shipping is 20 dollars and it take a couple weeks to arrive.

Oh ok thanks! I currently have my Stock battery and 2 3500Mah batteries that fit in the stock cover. It works so far for me because that lets me keep it in my regular thin casing. The 2 3500Mah batteries + a separate wall charging unit that fits 1 battery (also has 1 usb port on it as well!) was like $22 on Ebay. They definately hold a longer charge than the stock battery. Normally get atleast 1.5-2 hours of extra screen time with those batteries. Only thing they don't have is NFC, but i have the stock battery for that and rarely use it anyways. Its working for me so far, but i just don't know if the back cover is going to hold up in the long run when its being taken off every few days to swap a battery if needed. It seems kind of cheaply made and i don't know how long it will last. But seems ok still.

I'm wondering if this is the zerolemon 3000 rebranded to 3500.
I've been using them for a few weeks now, and i've had no issues with them. The charge definitely lasts longer than the stock battery, and its working out good for me. The battery is definately a tad thicker and noticeably heavier, but it all fits within the regular back cover of the phone. And i guess they do have NFC. They just dont say it on the battery, but its advertised with it so i guess it does. I don't use it enough so i havent tried.

You're certain that it does and that it's not simply just buyer's placebo?
Is there anyway you can confirm NFC?
If this is real...damn it just when I got my 3000mah from zerolemon

Can you try the NFC of this battery please and let us know if it works? Thanks.
Many users often charge when the phone open, in fact, this will be very easy to damage your phone and life, because in the process of charging the phone's circuit board may have a fever, this time if there are external phone, you may produce an instant return current, on the phone's internal parts damage.

This guy had free shipping.
price is cheap enough but just not worth the risk to me, I used to buy no name Chinese batteries for my og evo back in the day, but I buy only buy oem batteries and chargers now a days. but I will say if the reviews are good, I'd be willing to try these out, I like the extra capacity, but I just bought a Samsung battery and charger kit so no use for these really.

I know what you're saying.
I am going to try to go waterproof on my phone, so I don't want to change out, but I did get 2 3500 batteries.
I also have the otterbox defender if that knock off lifeproof doesn't pan out.
TEW for the win on this.
Granted, I still have 2 stock batteries + charger, a 5200 onite battery, and ther zero lemon 7500 battery, I am ready for almost any scenario, lol.

The guy who has it, says they are bigger than stock slightly and weigh more. I agree that they probably aren't 3500, but probably around 3000. If they have nfc and are 3000, then they are better than zerolemon's.

Took a shot and ordered one as well. The reviews seem positive so it also has a 2-year warranty. It doesn't look as big as the zerolemon either. Like the 2-layer case too. We'll see.

This as far as i know is the ONLY Extended that i would use if i had the V10 (I have a G4) Look at my Thread HERE for some ideas of what you'd may find acceptable
Edit: or THIS 3800mah Slim Battery
So...
I got this yesterday. Prime delivered it next day. Pretty sweet if you ask me. It's heavy. Don't get me wrong, even before I put it on the device all by itself, it was heavy. Put it on yesterday. Was already charged to 50% out-of-the-box. Charged all night.
So far this is my experience. Now, I know that batteries need to be conditioned so, this is only my first day's experience. I have a 2-hour commute to/from work using public transportation (yeah, I know), I spend it heavily using my device. At full-brightness, reading emails, surfing, texting, reading books, no games. Not much into games. On the regular battery I'm down to about 54% by the time I get from point a to point b. Today, my battery was about 75%. So, unsubstantiated and unscientific I had 20% more battery power than before.
Battery was recognized as a "battery" both internal settings saw it fine and batterybotpro had no issue seeing it as a battery.
Upside so far, seems to give more time on the device without charging.
Nice looking case ( inner and outer)
Downsides...
Bulkier than standard battery
Heavier than standard device
Device now has some junk In the trunk as it sticks out
Fingerprint scanner is hot and miss. Sometimes it works, other times I have to make sure I'm making contact with some part of the housing
Will not work in any cradle I have. The battery makes it too thick to fit into a cradle
It's not that expensive. I'll update this in a week and as I can going forward to see if this is steady in giving me an extra boost.
[[UPDATED REVIEW AFTER ABOUT ONE MONTH]]
The battery lasts barely 3 hours. It starts to drain the MINUTE I take it off charger. It's really atrocious. I'm going to see about returning the thing as soon as possible. It shouldn't have such atrocious performance after such a short time. Truly bad.

It'll take at least 5 charge/discharges to get the full capacity of whatever battery you have. Of course there's going to be some thickness to it. I have a slim 4500mah Battery for my G4 and it works surprisingly well

Ok keep me posted. Is the your first time using it? Remember, these take at least 3-5 charge\discharges to get it's capacity but just so you know the LG G4 Will never learn the battery capacity cause I think there's a chip that's locked at 3000mah
