Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my galaxy S. The power button stopped working about a week ago, I could press it and it wouldn't respond at all. The only thing I could do is get to my homescreen by plugging in the USB. I followed a good video on youtube in disassembling my phone.
I took everything apart exactly and tried the power button, but it would not work. However when I put it back together with the battery and everything it wouldn't turn on, even with usb connected. I double checked every ribbon in the phone and reconnected them all, but nothing.
Is there anything I could do to fix this?
hey there
first, it's the wrong forum...
try this app to lock your device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&feature=search_result
and wake it up with the home button - this can be a solution for you until you replace the power button as it's a hardware problem

Hello there.
I finished in a problem that seems to happen quite often.
My power button does not respond anymore.
I have been deeling since yesterday with it thanks to this thread.
But now i have the phone in a bootloop thanks to a damaged ROM file...
- i can get to bootloader but power and volume keys do not respond,
like the power button is stuck being pressed, and adb does not see the device
- nothing else works.
I have to leave tomorrow for another country, so i am asking here for a quick solution.
Did anyone managed on his own to fix the problem which seems to be hardware?
Can anyone post a video or photos on how to open the Nexus and what to do to fix the button, or is it something that only the samsung service can deal with?
Hi everyone,
Today i faced a problem with my tf700T, i tried to power it on but i couldn't.
I tried all the following steps but with no luck at all:
1. Normal press on power button, nothing happens.
2. Cold reset (pressing power & volume down buttons for very long time), nothing at all (no vibrations, not a single sign of life).
3. pressing reset button. nothing
4. suspecting that it's a screen problem. i pressed volume down/up , but no vibration occurs (i.e. the tablet is not turned on)
The tablet is fully charged, when i connect it to the charger the led shows green light.
I tried to connect it also using usb cable to a pc (led doesn't show any light) and left it for hours. tried to power on again, but no luck. Needless to mention that it's not detected by pc also, since it's turned off.
Now i am out of ideas, i can't think of anything else to do.
If anyone can help me with anything to try, i will be very thankful.
Thanks
PS: i searched before posting this thread but i didn't find a relevant post. If there's a similar post, please guide me to it and i apologize for duplicating it.

I think you alredy tried everything in the book. It's time to send it out for repair. Note: Even some how it turn itself back on later, I still recommend to send it out, because it's not NORMAL at all, possible defective Power button, main board etc...

Thank you, i wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything. I will contact their support.
But i'm curious about "turning itself back on later", do you know how could this happen and how much does it take to occur ?
I have a Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 that was rooted and running CM 9... A few days ago I woke up to the black screen... I have tried resetting via, power button and hold, power button and up button, power button and down button, power button and touching screen, power button up button and touching screen. Nothing appears on screen.
Next I take it to the PC and plug it in via USB. My pc does see the gt-p3113 and I have full access to all the files. I try all the button combos I can think of again. Still nothing on the screen
Then I take the tablet apart thinking maybe its been dropped and no one told me, popped all the ribbon connections and reseated them. Pulled the battery and reseated it. Try to reboot.. Still can get into my file via usb but nothing on the screen.
Lastly I fire up Odin 1.7, 1.8, 3.07 trying to get it to see the tablet and reflash it that way. Odin could not find the device. I've searched the forum, google, youtube, and can not find anyone that has the same problem as mine.. So here I am asking. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for your help.

If nothing appears on screen and if the comp recognises it then the problem might be with the display.. Just take it to service centre and get it fixed..

I let it sit on the table for a two weeks then recharged the battery, the screen came back.
hi
is it possible for the galaxy s3 powre button to stop working? i used a aftermarket battery not sure if it play any part in the dead power button. but want to tell you that too. the power button seem dead to me or something is wrong with it, i take out the battery and put it back and the phone vibrate and a quick flash of the word "samsung" and stay fully dead. it turn on by itself when i insert the battery without pressing the power button. i can do that many times and sometime the phone work and it get to the home screen and all buttons work except for the power button. no matter how hard i press it it wont turn off the screen or anything. anytime i got lucky and it boot to home screen, i plugged in the charger so that way everytime the screen shut off i can turn it back on by unplugging the charger, and that turn it back on... otherwise i cannot turn it back on with the power button...
anyone solved a problem like this power button issue? what could be wrong? i know the phone is not dead ,, so could the powwer button issue trigger multiple issues for the phone?

if you can get it to turn on u can use a app to wake it up by sensor.
Could be related to the 3rd party battery but hard to tell without checking out the internals to see if anything on the PBA got fried.
If you're able to get it to turn on with an app and not able to unlock the screen without use of the charger it may just be somethin to do with your power button itself.
Did anything happen around the time of the issue starting? (New apps, physical or liquid damage, software updates, etc)
Have you tried a known working OEM battery?

Hello,
[admin; if this post is more appropriately placed somewhere else in the forum, then please move it]
Before giving up on my cellphone and resort to ordering a new one I'll ask for help here too.
Phone is a Kolina K100+ (chinese phone) running android 4.2. It is rooted but it is still running stock ROM (to my knowledge, I bought it new and have not tinkered with the ROM).
Current situation is that the phone is completely dead.
Dead as in turned off, does not light the LED when inserting the charger cable, does not react to any button presses, or combination of button presses.
I have actually no idea what have caused this situation. Granted, the phone has accidentially been dropped twice the last week but it did not turn itself off at any of the occasions. Yesterday, I noticed that the phone had turned off and I tried to turn it on. After a while I got it to go at least to the boot screen but after having to put it away (was actually standing in a line and it was my turn...) it was dead when I was able to reach for it again and after that the phone has been completely dead.
When connecting the USB cable to the computer the computer detects an unknown USB device but cannot seem to install any drivers.
Button combinations I have tried;
- power on button
- long press (~1minute) on power button
- volume down + power button
- volume up + power button
- volume up + volume down + power button
- home button (touchscreen button that is) + power button
...no luck with either combination, no reaction at all from the phone.
I have also managed to pull off the back cover from the phone and was able to disconnect the battery connector and let it lay completely powerless for a few hours before reconnect the battery to the phone and reassemble the back cover.
Any suggestions on if there are any other measures I can do or if there is something I have overlooked in trying to resurrect it?
