So for the last 4 days I have been fighting to get my Rogers sgs4 to have a working hotspot on Koodo. Tether would start and devices could connect but they would have no internet access.
Finally today after hours of research I found people suggesting you recreate the apn setting with a new name and change the APN Type from "default, supl, mms" to "default, mms, dun" all other settings can be copied the same from the original apn.
Save the new apn and select it.
Clients on hotspot should now have internet access.

Hello -
I just got my tilt today and I've tried out a couple of ROMs already. On both of them everything seemed to work fine except the network connection. On the original config I connected just fine. I have an unlimited data plan and I have a good 3G signal around here. I found the comm manager but I'm not sure what settings to put in. Where can I find the settings?
thanks!

Which rom are you currently running?
If the custom rom is based on and HTC rom, then after the flashing completed, you should have seen a notification for the Network Configuration Wizard. That will autoconfigure all of the required AT&T settings. I believe that the Network Wizard can be run from Settings --> Conections also.
If you check the Wiki for the Kaiser, you should be able to find a CAB file that will configure MEdia Net for you.
MediaNet
Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access Point = wap.cingular
User Name = [email protected]
Password = CINGULAR1
I use alternate DNS Servers (Under Advanced)
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
DNS is provided by Open DNS www.opendns.com

Hello,
I have installled and run COnnection setup on my phone to configure MMS and wap. However under Vodafone there are two apns for internet (wap.omnitel and web.omnitel).
Since with my old Nokia the APN for internet was defaulted to Web and when I connect to that i spend 1.00€ while with Wap I spend 0.30€ is there any way to see which registry keys connection setup sets for the APNs so I could edit them to point to wap.omnitel instead of web.omnitel?
Thanks for your advice.
i have a galaxy SIII that i updated to jelly bean 4.1.2 using a thread from this site : this thread to be exact http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
the phone and text messages work great on a T-mobile SIM card ...i switched it to global mode.
the internet works while on WIFI only ....when i go outside no internet .....so i found that my APN setting are not right, but under the menu the APN settings are locked, giving no option for adjustment
so i found an APP that will change the APN setting however it needs root access and come to find out the phone is nbot rooted ....the root technique from the thread above wont work.
any suggestions how i can root and/or unlock my APN setting so i can get internet outside WIFI zone?
I noticed today that in gaining LTE (already on an LTE plan with ATT, was using LTE on my N4 just fine) I lost the ability to DISABLE LTE and (more specifically) use wap.cingular as an APN. I've done reset to defaults, checked settings and compared to my N4, nothing. I can actually disable LTE, but even on forced HSPA+, I can only connect via PHONE, not WAP.CINGULAR APN. This is important as wap.cingular bypasses throttling and also does not count toward the throttle counter. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll have to leave to Tmo which...is an option but a last resort.
SOLVED!
I found an Xposed Framework module called Wedymod. Link http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.wedy.mod
In this module is an option called "Do Not Prefer APN". After selecting this and rebooting, the phone obeys the APN I tell it to use (wap.cingular in this case). I'd love to pick apart this module and figure out how/what it's doing specifically if anyone else has the skills I'd love to see it done. Enjoy guys!

you can go Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Preferred Network Type Select 3G
Then under Access point names add a new APN for wap.cingular and name it AT&T 2 or AT&T Bypass Throttle and select and enable it
i dont see why you need an xposed stuff for this..

Actually I spoke too soon, it did NOT solve my problem. Upon further testing (deleting all non-wap.cingular apns) I still can't get a connection unless I add back pta or phone. Can you confirm what plan you're on? I'm on LTE Unlimited as my plan code and I CANNOT connect on wap.cingular over 3G. I can do it over 2g (not on LTE obviously) but the phone will NOT allow me to connect via 3g to wap.cingular. My i9100 has no problem with this.

Dear All,
I have just bought the Samsung Galaxy Core GT-I8262 two days back. I have setup almost all necessary software using my mobile service provider's 3G network. However, I am unable to setup the wifi. The scenario is - when I am searching available wifi networks through my phone, it is detecting all the available networks among which I am choosing the unprotected one and the phone is getting connected to that w/o any problem. However, all the available wifi network that I may use requires proxy server to access to the internet. So, I am going to wifi setup menu and trying to "modify network config". There when I am selecting the "manual" option under "proxy settings", the "save" button is getting disabled an I am unable to proceed.
What should I do in this circumstance where the Wifi network requires proxy servers. Please help me.

Maybe you should use the proxy in
accordance with the wifi.
Yup agree, you will have to use the same proxy and port number as that of the wifi.
