[Q] No Turn by turn voice in Navigation. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

If I start the Google Navigation app on my Verizon Galaxy s3, 4.1.2, The map will load, and after I enter a destination, the map will show my location and the directions to the destination, but it there is "searching for GPS" on the bottom of the screen and the voice directions doesn't start. If, before I enter navigation, I detect the GPS using the "GPS Test" by Chartcross, then the voice directions start, and there is no "searching" message on the screen. Any idea what's up, and how to go directly into Maps or Navigation without this issue?

What have you tried to fix it

Does the same thing happen if you use a program like Waze for navigation

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I could not get an answer in the forum. I have the same problem, I am using AOKP 4.2.2 build 5 ROM and although the "access to my location" is off, the GPS lock icon appears constantly in the status bar and in the notification bar as "location set by GPS". I've killed all apps but it didn't help. Any thoughts?
I had this gps problem too. It was always on and I could not close it. Only a power off would close it. Found out that the app yahoo weather was causing it. Uninstalled it and problem fix.

Nav & maps FC

I keep getting a maps not responding error if I am using the navigation app and while I'm in it, change my destination or hit the start button. I know the obvious answer is well don't change your destination but if I accidentally hit back I have to select the start button again. It also only seems to happen when I'm traveling. FYI I'm on carbon ROM but I don't think that is the issue. Any suggestions?

Have you tried accessing the application settings and clearing it. Maybe uninstalling and then installing it back. If you use waze or another navigation app does it do the same thing. I myself have switched to copilot as my main navigation app now. Yes it costs but well worth it.

Long press the home screen --> settings --> there is a switch to activate or not Google Now
Nice find with the long press on homescreen. Hadn't seen that. I just logged out and logged in again.
BTW if you clear the data from search it just reverts all home screens to default and you lose Google Now.

[Q] some questions

Just recently bought n5.
Is quick settings really like this? Normal wifi press takes me to listed wifi, and long press turns it normally. same goes for bluetooth etc. Been on a cm11 and its the other way around.
How do i get that "say ok google" back on homescreen google bar? - its lost now leaving with old jb mic look. Turning speech in settings off makes it kitkat look mic but no ok google.
Ive not rooted yet. Any ideas?

Yes, it's normal behavior of stock rom(quick settings).
If you're using the stock google now launcher then the search box should be placed on every homescreen.. Unfortunately, you can't use "OK Google" command with other launchers..

if it doesnt say "say ok google" on the search bar anymore, that is normal, it eventually goes away. as long as you saying ok google still works.

[Q] Google apps only (inc Maps) don't connect to GPS (maybe because of AppOps??)

So I have just realised Google apps inc Earth and Maps (and Chrome) will and do not connect to GPS, but other apps will. I've been racking brain for ages trying to figure why but I think it may be to do with the now defunct and unusable AppOps where I had turned off Google services access to GPS once before the App got closed down.
Now has this messed up my GPS on G products? How can I fix? Thanks help much appreciated.
Y not just re install app ops?

Doesn't work on unrooted phones. Google just shut the app down leaving any setting it made behind stuck with you.
Clear cache, data force stop the app, uninstall if possible or just uninstall all updates and try make the app start from fresh again
Did you ever disallow maps itself location? Because i have gmscore location disabled but maps is still fine

settings/apps
hit the options button and select restore defaults option, this will reset anything done with app ops
