Its all catch up really.

This pretty much sums it up: http://i.imgur.com/C4dBeLL.png

I always found it funny that Apple was suing Google over Pinch-to-zoom while they were copying the status bar drop-down...

Fanboyism is so 2011. Let's not live out some ad shill's dream of loyal customers when there are lots of good stuff from Apple as well as Google/Samsung.

so like apple... make it look better (i guess) and still not many new features. But let's go over the new features. Multitasking that they took from WebOs, toggles which they took from samsung/android.... well that's about it. About 1500 features no one will use on a regular basis. If they could only add features that people will use...

[Q] Android on iPad 2(Because TouchPad runs twice as fast on iPad 2)

So, if TouchPad runs twice as fast on the iPad 2, why don't you guys, devs, try to install Android 2.3 or Android 3 on an iPad 2, and see the results? I believe it's possible because Android is Open source(ok maybe Android 2.3) and because you guys have dual booted iOS with Android on an iPhone. I don't believe it's silly, because you might get some data. I believe it's worth a try. Opinions?
+1 from me. I think it's a brilliant idea. I think though that the whole attempt won't be a walk in the park even in the very early stages (ie: no 3G/wifi/BT working etc) due to drivers. I say so because of the fact that I haven't been able to find a 'modified' f/w for the iPad1/2... at least just yet!

Apple hardware is nice... Real nice. So weather you like iOS or not, I think Honeycomb on the iPad 2 would be sweet.
It is my understanding that this will become more feasible when Google releases the source code for Honeycomb, as they are holding onto it for now.

I got a Galaxy S II... wtf? I'm just asking because I don't think I'm the only one that wants to see Android on iPad...
I would love to see honeycomb on my iPad - and to the guy trolling **** off dude. Apple makes some sexy hardware . I also have a Galaxy S II and an iPad (and a MacBook Pro), and I'm not here bashing companies. ****ing dumb fanboys against Apple - its like.looking at Engadgets comments on every topic.

I too have been wondering if there has been any progress putting android on ipad?
Gingerbread would be alot sweeter than ios on ipad 2. And. Agree apple hardware is stylish and bomb.
I would also like to see an android tablet running ios. That would probably be really really hard. There's nothing wrong with apple. Apple ftw

My work gave me a free ipad 2 to keep, but iOS just isn't working for me (the app selection, it turns out, isn't really as great as people make it out to be - games being the sole exception.) And running iphone apps on ipad just plain sucks - they don't scale to the screen size nearly as well as android apps do. Plus, not having a universal back button is downright annoying.
Anybody know of any android ports that are in progress?
hi
I'm probably resurrecting an old post. I have a spare ipad 2 that I would like to android. Is this still possible?
Could someone direct me on how this can be done, jailbreak etc, or maybe direct me to the correct thread if it is possible
thanks in advance

Stock android is BORING

Is there any other roms that are like Miui for my Galaxy SIII i535. I am tired of the boring android roms. It seems as there is a zillion roms out that all look entirely the same I wana see something different. Something spectacular. Miui is really nice but there is no uptodate versions for the GS3. Can anyone recommend some roms that look amazing that dont look like boring android >.>
IPhone is the way for you. Either appreciate what we have here in this community or build your own roms.
I don't see anything boring about it there's enough new added features tweaks to maximize the phone already.

Boring android? I think the new touch wiz is one of the best things to come to android sammy did a great job. I hated touch wiz on my og note but I love almost everything about my gs3 and note 10.1 for all the extras the devs here do plus what came stock. I don't get what you want android can be what every you want it. Just search around for a bit like we all do.

theres a miui rom available in the development section
This has to be an iSheep trolling Android forums.. If not, the only way Android becoming "boring" is by spending way too much time staring at your phone, and iOS is less appealing IMO.. Touchwiz, CM10, Kangs of all different flavors, there's dozens of ROMs to chose from, far more than what's usually available for other phones.. If your looking for something totally unique, try paranoid or build one yourself.

True story. You customise an iPhone by changing the wallpaper unless you are jailbroken. On Android, you can do anything, like changing your ROMs and kernels.
One thing android is not is boring.

I had an iPhone, which was exactly that: boring.
Android is the opposite. We can change nearly anything we want, as well as fix stuff when we break it! :good:
It's almost a hobby, to play with our Androids. I'm not quite sure what you are looking for, since a S3 running JB is about as top shelf as you can get.
There's nothing "spectacular" about a cell phone.
Any cell phone.

Why insult the OP? MIUI is an amazing rom, I loved it on my previous phones. Just because it doesn't have an app drawer doesn't make it an iPhone!
I got bored playing with an iphone within the first two minutes since you cannot really do anything with it except with wallpaper and ringtones?
The OP is right. Touchwiz gets old after a while and the graphic elements look like they were designed by a third grader. All these iPhone comments are just stupid. Not liking touchwiz or being bored with it doesn't mean you want the even more boring iOS. Too many simple minds out there as it is. We don't need even more who think touchwiz is the ONLY way to go on a powerhouse android phone. We all have different tastes and some of us have no taste. Either answer the OP's question with something useful or don't respond.
I recently switched to liquidsmooth AOSP 4.2 and it's like I have a totally different phone. Faster, far more beautiful, and a much cleaner professional experience.

New ad from samsung

Still getting used to the "gimmicks" but from my experience if I wanted to answer a call like that'd I'd be swiping over and over and over, until eventually I give up and just grease up the phone Also the camera modes would be "Wait, wait...picking a mode, wait a second, wait...okay...go!"
This is probably just due to me not being used to it - somewhat getting the hang of the head tilting/scrolling now - but definitely not as fluent as they make it seem!
The funniest thing about that style of commercial from Samsung is that they are beating Apple with their own stick! It's a direct play off of the Apple vs Windows "cool kid" commercials.
The ad is awesome

Whether you agree or not, Samsung has illustrated how these features ARE useful. Will it be used daily, of course not. What feature is? I like that it is available when I DO need it. Why bash something you're not interested in? I just don't get it. Your argument is only what the reviewers say. The average person is not reading a tech site. I own a nexus 4, note 2 and the s4. I read all of the tech sites. I have an appreciation for adding features that are useful in particular scenarios.
Question is not whether they are gimmicks or not, question is whether this is a good commercial? Whether this ad will allow Samsung to sell more GS4's?
The answer is a big YES!
Lol that iphone... no no no your phone doesnt do that! Really made me day! Hahahahaha

To me it looks like it was built using some parts of android source.
Take Touchwiz 3 Lockscreen
Take Touchwiz 6 stuffs
Take Android

Oh god. lmao. It doesn't look the same but you can tell that some of the things they added or "will implement" is from Android.
Looks like the bastard child of android and windows phone.
The icons look like they're ripped from a sh*tty miui theme.
UI inconsistencies all over the place. The font looks just like roboto.
Its hilarious that they're copying android/windows phone after all that talk about their iPhone being the best.

iOS 7 innovation :
1. Samsung TouchWiz 3 lockscreen.
2. Smasung TouchWiz 5 navigation features.
3. Android MIUI ROM icons, look and feel.
4. Android Roboto font.
5. Windows Phone 8 multi-tasking.
6. Blackberry messaging.
7. Android 4.2.2 notification layers.

Mind if I use this? Pretty good summary
I'm pretty sure Apple isn't even claiming innovation (that's just what people say when they want to discredit features irrationally; don't be That Guy).
"This think looks/works/is just like that thing" is a very vague statement.

I don't understand why the made it so colorful. And the lockscreen looks like a S3 mixed with MIUI. This is why Apple annoys me.
It looks to much century gothic mixed with roboto.

Is Google making Android to look as IOS?

Hi, I was a iphone user 3-4 years ago. Then I realized I want more and Android was there with all the customization. And I own a LG G2 and it has anything and everything customizable. Its a perfect phone and I had all the Nexus4, Gs4, Galaxy Note 2 this year. And i just ordered 3 Nexus 5's. But more and more I look at Nexus 5 its reminding me of Apple IOS. Google is making it too simple and boring. Good thing we have all the Dev's that can do so much. What u guy's think? Is Google making Android to look like Apple's IOS? And Apple on the other side is making IOS look like Android. Dont fight only opinions. Thanx to everyone.

I definitely disagree, and I'm not sure where you're getting "Google is making it [Android] too simple and boring." What has been removed in 4.4, or otherwise overhauled so completely that you are getting this impression?
There's only so much "difference" you can have between 2 companies who are using a desktop-environment with a grid of icons as the major way to navigate through the ecosystem.

Well, 5. And, unlike Apple, you have the choice of downloading and using a different launcher. Many different launchers allow you to define how many icons you want vertically and horizontally in the grid, and even in the dock.
I know we can do that, but im talk i ng about stock phone however google ships.

How are they similar? Please explain. Just posting a screenshot and saying they are similar doesn't do much for your argument. I can think of many reasons why they aren't. Though The page dots addition looks very iOS and the Google now to the left is similar to how iOS used to have spotlight on the left. Only spotlight was the laggiest, slowest, most useless thing ever when Google now on the left is absolutely genius.

After using the G2 LG UI or the Samsung's TW. With so much useful thing's. Like showing percentage battery, thats just a simple thing and plus too many usefull features. Like on lg changing the icon sizes . Anyway maybe the manufacturers doing lots of things better making important things available on their versions of the phones. There are so many features that its hard to write them all.

Yep. iOS7 made more leaps to looking like Android than vise-versa. Some things in ios7 are hard to distinguish from Android like the lock-screen, wallpaper, calculator app. I'm sure there are more but I don't use ios.
My guess is that in time they will mostly just look the same.

Yep it is Apple that removed all the glassy effects on icons, menus, buttons etc.. to make them more flat 'à la android'
No such thing because android is open source and you can always do much more than what ios can when it comes to customization and free market on the play store.
So no its nothing even close.
