[Q] Custom rom = no wifi - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
On my TF300T I am running the 4.2 bootloader, I have put TWRP 2.5 recovery on and it is working perfectly. The only issue is that on the two custom roms I have tried (Unofficial CM10.1, CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.6.4) my wifi won't turn on, I have flashed back to stock and the wifi works again. I have tried a couple of kernels on CROMi but that didn't help. I have tried searching but I couldn't find any useful results, what I am missing?
Cheers,

Wipe

I had this same issue when I first tried CROMI-X. I reflashed doing a full wipe (data, system, factory reset, and caches) and everything worked great. It is slightly more time consuming since you have to reinstall all of your custom apps. Also be sure to make a backup of all data and personal files on an sd card.
Once I had the custom ROM installed, I didn't have to do the full wipe for any later updates, only the caches.

Ok I reflashed after doing a wipe of data, caches, and system, then a factory reset. Still no wifi, it just won't turn on, it gets stuck at 'Turning Wi-Fi on..." and eventually times out and the switch goes back to off.
Any other ideas?
Bluetooth works so I have been able to tether through my nexus 4, no wifi is pretty annoying.

Figured it out, had encrypted my tablet, decrypted by going back to stock rom and recovery and then doing a factory reset. Now all is working fine.

Good deal!

[Q] No Wifi after flashing CM9

I flashed CM9 on my tablet (the one in the developer section) and have since moved back to ICS. However, after moving back to ICS (restoring backup), my wifi doesn't work. If I go to WiFi in settings it says "Turning wi-fi on..." and never does turn on. I've tried clearing out the cache/dalvik cache and using superwipe to get rid of it, but it still didn't do anything? Has anyone else run into this situation or have suggestions for possible fixes?

Same happened to me after trying out CM9 and going back to stock ROM via nandroid restore. All the symptoms was just like yours. Did all the same thing like wipe cache, dalvik cache ect.
Finally I just flashed the ICS rooted ROM I was using again without wipe and it worked again. No lost of data since I didn't wipe.
I have had a similar issue. Every now and then (particularly at home with my wireless) I am able to see the connection but not connect to it. I have tried turning wifi off and on, rebooting the tablet, the only thing that works is unplugging the router and plugging it in. It has only happened since ICS and once I plug the router in it connects......

I will give this a shot when I get back home. Thanks for the reply.
Okay, I am having this problem every time I leave and come home. I cannot connect (in Wifi it shows the network and shows that it is saved with Webkey, but I cannot connect). I have to unplug the router each time.......

No AOSP ROM for me

It started I think after I put the 1st JB TW ROM on my phone (eg Incubus). Since then, every time I try out any AOSP/AOKP based ROM I lose WiFi.
Wipe and format everything (data, cache, dalvik). Install AOSP/AOKP ROM, do the initial setup, get WiFi working and then after 1st reboot -> no WiFi. I tried many ROMs based on the above platform. Same thing.
If I toggle the wifi on/off/on some times I get the wifi back but just until the next reboot. Sometimes when I try to toggle the wifi screen freezes.
I odined back to stock. Unrooted and locked. I rooted and unlocked and right away I reinstalled a CM10. Same problem.
When that happens there is no wifi network found and scan finds nothing (i have many netorks around me). It is like the wifi service is not present.
I tried different kernels and different radios. No go.
All the TW stock ROMs (ICS or JB) work fine.
Any idea? Did you hear about this anywhere?
Thanks for your help.

The phone wouldn't boot into the rom if they were rooted but had a locked bootloader.

Try wiping System before flashing AOKP as well. Wipe them a few times just to be sure. Im thinking that possibly recovery doesnt always wipe like it should but im not sure.
I did it.I tried too many times not to get it right at least 1 time.

have you tried the official cm10 m1 release?
I tried the last CM10 from Sep the 23 rd.I don't know which version is that.

Well, I have news. Problem not solved but something new came up.
I had a nand of an official cm10 from Sep the 9th. I recovered and voila the wifi works perfect. More than that. I dirty flashed the nightlie from today and everything works fine
I then wiped and format again everything and flashed the CM10 from today. WiFi lost again after 1-3 reboots.
By the way if I reboot after losing wifi next time I get a screen with activating which stays there forever. Also my phone no and MIN are gone.
I recovered them but the wifi is still gone.
I live in Ca so I'm in roaming if this is of some importancce.
Can somebody mimic this? Fresh install of CM10 official and then reboot.
It does the same for me for any AOSP AOKP JB based.
I have a netgear router that provides wifi service on 2.4 and 5 Ghz on both bands 20 and 40 Mhz. The SSIDs have different names.
I specified already that when that happen I cannot see any other wifi around me and there are many.

[Q] Help!! No call/data connection on Verizon GSIII after flashing CM10.1-20121221

Hello XDA,
Sorry for the long post but I am desperate!
The first ROM I ever flashed was CM 10 M2 which ran well and went without any problems. For this I used CWM. I found a stable nightly early in December and decided to update. I also wanted to store my backups on my external however, so I switched to TWRP and created a new backup of my stock TouchWiz rom using TWRP then backed my CM10 M2 up just in case. I flashed the update without wiping the data (factory reset) but did wipe the dalvik cache. This worked fine; all my apps were still there as well as my background. So when GooManager told me there was a 10.1 update for my Rom I thought why not try it out. I figured this was a big update so I wiped dalvik and did a factory reset. After flashing I ended up in a loop of "com.android.something or other has stopped" which turned into "setup wizard has stopped". The homescreen would not load. Fine. Booted into recovery last night after this and reinstalled my latest backup of the nightly I had been using for about 20 days. Seemed OK but the "android activation" screen was taking forever so I pushed home, plugged my phone in and passed out. I Woke up this morning and tried to send a text but it wouldn't send. Tried to call and I couldn't. Now I have restored every recovery I had (Stock, M2, Nightly) multiple times and same problem except that in stock I get a roaming charge warning. I was sure returning to stock would solve this. Does anyone know what I can do? Im not sure exactly how to factory reset but am willing if thats what it takes.
Thanks a ton!

[Q] WiFi stopped working after CROM 4.1 install

I installed Clean ROM 4.1 successfully (I thought). Everything went well until I saw my WiFi was turned off. I attempted to turn it on without success. The Bluetooth is in the same state. They both worked on my stock setup (JB 4.2.1, bootloader 10.6.1.8) and I used TWRP 2.4.4.0 to flash it.
As I said, everything else works great. I did try to fix permissions from TWRP to no avail.
Help please! I don't want to have to return to stock. I can't ask this question on the developer thread since I am a noob.
this happened to me aswell mate just reflash cromi and all will be good mate
No luck with that.

I sure wish that had worked for me. I tried reflashing CROM four different times. Each time I wiped more, until I had wiped all there is to wipe. I was never able to get WiFi and Bluetooth working with CROM. Everything else appeared to work without issue. I don't understand why, but it is what it is. So I returned to stock JB 4.2.1, rooted and Superuser installed and restored the backup I made before starting this fiasco. One thing that I got out of it all was a lot of experience usig the procedures.
Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to respond.
I think this is one of the reasons its recommended to flash the stock kernel and let the tablet boot up completely. I tried going straight to one of the OC Kernels several times and it broke the wifi each time.
I don't know if thats what you may have done but it broke wifi for me. The wifi tab wouldn't even turn on.
Each time I flash a different version of CleanROM I have to do a router reset too. The tablet will read the signal but won't connect. A router reset fixes the problem every time.

WiFi AP no longer works after TWRP restore?

Hi guys, has anyone else encountered that WiFi AP will refuse to work after restoring from a TWRP Backup? (it worked fine when the backup was made). Has happened multiple times to me, at least while running PA (can't remember if it occurred on other ROMs as well).
It simply says "Error" under the setting menu. WiFi also won't work after trying this until a restart.
I've tried the following, none seem to work:
Wipe /System and reflash rom
Reflash Kernel
Try different kernels (including PA stock)
Apart from clean flashing, does anyone have other possible solutions?
I have noticed the same issue multiple times after a restore.
Only way I've found to get it working again is a factory reset then clean install, which a pain in the ass.

Yea, clean installing almost ruins the whole point of that backup though (unless you want to restore so you can run Titanium or another app/data specific backup app).
Have you noticed it across roms? Or only on PA?
Thanks for your reply.
Never ran PA.
I ran Stock or Cataclysm for the most part.
But I tried Vanir, Slim, Carbon & Liquid Smooth.
Whenever I would discover a bug in any of those ROM's I would revert back to my Stock Nandroid and the WIFI AP would give me an error message.
I then would have to factory reset and start from scratch to get WIFI AP working again. Deleting the data/wifi folder did not help like some people suggested.
