Hi Guys, I am planning to buy this phone, I am from Mexico and before I make the purchase I have a few questions and since I have been around with the HD2 for about a year now, I don't know anything related this one.

- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one?
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model?
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum?
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far?
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone?

I do recommend it over the van. SG2. Better features. The screen IMO is perfect for a phone. One thing you have to consider is the better the screen the more power it's going to consume. I feel the screen was perfect for this phone. Take the LG Nitro HD for example it has an AH-IPS display. Battery only lasts 4-6 hrs max. I'm expecting to see official support for CM9 after one of the carriers drop a ICS rom for this phone (or a close sister phone from like TMobile). Once CM9 is out for this phone that's all I'll use.
I know, sounds like a complete noob question....
but seriously, I'm coming from an Inspire 4G/Desire HD, where roms were able to be used on like 10 devices.
Is anyone looking into getting ROM's ported to the One XL from the tegra 3 One X?? Seems like it would be an awesome way to get our (slowly moving) dev section going. I love what we have done, there just isn't much going yet.
damn...just realized i posted in accessories. Mods, please move to Q&A or General.
I believe the only major thing holding back development is S-Off, or at least that is taking higher priority than rom development. Kernel source being released would help as well but we have no idea when that is going to happen.

It's an fxz (how they find these things I have no clue). Don't even think about flashing it though. If the international MB865 ICS leaks haven't helped us then I don't think this will be of any help either :\
So, since I'm essentially clueless on the actual coding and development aspects of this type of stuff - I'm no stranger to flashing ROMs and testing them out, been doing that for almost a decade now and still doing it between several devices (Axim X50v/X51v, HP iPAQs, Nexus S, Galaxy S, and now my Atrix 2) - but I don't understand what the actual problem is with this ROM with respect to the AT&T model of the Atrix 2.
I'm going to guess there's something going on with the Chinese/international leaked ROMs that will completely bork/hose/obliterate the AT&T model if I or anyone else attempts to install it, perhaps even permanently bricking it so...
Obviously I'm not about to try it myself, I'll leave that to the more talented folks around here already working on trying to get ICS for all of us. The Atrix 2 is such a damned nice device from the hardware perspective, and yes I'd love to get ICS on it (I know Motorola is working on it but as usual they're so tight-lipped about everything we're never going to know when it'll be available until it actually is, Cheesecake or not...), and now with having messed around with Jelly Bean on the Nexus S for a few hours - wasn't great but it was noticeably "butter" smooth as they're claiming - that gives me very high hopes that ICS will make an appearance on the Atrix 2 soon.
Come on, Motorola, if you can't get talented people to get this done, there's a bunch of people here on XDA that would do it practically for free just to get it done once and for all (not saying they wouldn't like to be compensated, obviously, maybe a free Droid RAZR MAXX or whatever for their efforts).

Hell, I still use my Dell Axim X51v almost daily, and it's close to 7+ years old now, still running a custom Windows Mobile 6.5 from LennySH... If I thought a petition would help Motorola just skip ICS completely and jump right to Jelly Bean for the Atrix 2 I'd start one, but obviously that's just a waste of time. The ME865 (the Chinese version of the atrix2), has different hardware in it. There are also 3 slightly different versions of the MB865 (also the atrix2)... confused yet....
What it means is that the if you own a US AT&T version, you can not flash any of the international versions of the firmware, because there are slight hardware differences in all of the versions, and the AT&T US version has a whole different radio on top of the different wifi, gps, and GSM/GPRS/UMTA&S chipsets.
Well, that pretty much covers it.
I really do love this device, it's got an awesome form factor, feels fantastic in the hand, same screen size (diagonal) as my beloved HTC HD2 which I don't have anymore (but yes I'll get another one someday just 'cause it's the baddest portable device ever made for enthusiasts). Great cameras, there's really nothing to dislike about it so far, at least to me. Still on the lookout for a Lapdock as well (if my research has been accurate, I can use the original Atrix Lapdock with the Atrix 2 and a small mod of flipping the connectors on the Lapdock around - I hope I'm correct in that).
But ICS would definitely be nice to get, and soon. It's just a shame that Motorola Mobility is so far behind the curve with things. I had hoped that Google's acquisition of them might improve the situation but, with Google's announcement they were buying but leaving them alone to keep on doing what they've been doing, that basically nipped that hope right in the bud.

So I had my Samsung Exhilarate stolen about 3 hours ago. I have suspended the account and doing anything possible to try and locate my phone, however, I feel like my chances are slim especially when I didn't download any security app prior to this event.
Anyways, I am not looking for the latest technology or best phone just something that gets the job done.
Between the Pantech Flex and HTC First, which do you prefer?
The Flex is older but can now upgrade to Jelly Bean apparently. The First can remove the Facebook Home launcher but appears to be discontinuing. Both I believe are priced at like $0.99 with a 2 year contract, which I will be doing.

HY,in my opinion go with the htc ,it has better quality,screen is good,proccesor gets the job done,usually you can root it much simple or receive updates often because it is stock android.PLEASE PRESS THANKS IF I HELPED YOU!!!!!!
Well just updated my Pantech Flex to 4.1.2 and its pretty sweet. I have a successful root and CWM installed too.
Hey, guys! I was hoping some of you could give me some advice on buying a new smartphone. I guess my main priority is something that is easily rooted so I can install custom roms.
Right now I'm stuck between Google's Nexus 5 and Samsung's Galaxy 5s. I'm not sure if I really need to root the Nexus 5 though, as I've been running CyanogenMods Jelly Bean on my HTC for nearly a year, and am very happy with that. I assume KitKat is an improved/smoother version of Jelly Bean? And I really like the simplicity of it, without any preinstalled firmware, which I know the Galaxy is shipped with. On the other hand, the Galaxy is clocked at 2.5 while the Nexus is at 2.3, but both do have the same Quad-core processor, so are they going to feel pretty much the same performance wise?
Another thing I'm considering is when the next Nexus/Galaxy is due. I guess it would be wiser to wait if the next model in line is dropping in a couple of months or so. So any rumours in that?
Any advice is appreciated, but I hope someone with hands on experience with both phones can provide some input. And do feel free to suggest any other smartphone on the market as well! Thanks in advance, guys!
What I can tell you, if you like up to date stock ROM, go with the nexus. Samsung doesn't update most its phones to make you buy new ones.
The best advice is to familiarize yourself with the site and use search before posting, as there are a couple threads for this...
