[Q] Super noob here: don't kill me please, but help!

Hi, I recently betrayed the Apple clan and converted to Android.
I have an Infuse 4G and currently under going developing my device.
however
I have rooted it using super one click using a video I found in the development section of this forum. However, it did not continue on to show me how to install kernel and ROM.
Which brings me to my next issue: according to a fellow android user, I have to install a kernel....whatever that is. Can anyone provide a trustworthy link to install kernel from?
And also after that I apparently have to install ROM, but the choices for this are endless?
Sorry. I REALLY suck at this kind of stuff.
Also, are these ( FroYo, ICS, GB), ROM or kernel?...

[Q] ICS for SGS4G?

This question may belong in the stupid questions thread but here we go...
Can I use this I9000 update: ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.1_I9000.zip to upgrade my friends SGS4G to ICS? I have a link with detailed instructions to upgrade the SGS to ICS with this zip and a few other steps, but it wont let me post it. Thank you for reading this.

Technically any phone is compatible lol but yes sgs4g will get ICS just probably not from sammy

Where is sixstring here is another post about ics if people would read they would already see tons of posts on this. Im not *****ing just wonder why i am the one to have to say anything. Atleast look in dev section for one if you dont see one there is not one. Its not like the devs have it hidden somewhere

Could any one make a miui V4 for Atrix 2

I have been using miui.for XT701 for a long time。 everything works very well.but I feel very bad after i buy a new Atrix 2 last month. rom for A2 is little。there is no roms such like CM7/9 and miui. It seems that make a miui for A2 is easier.Can any one make one for our Atrix 2 .Thank

Sorry but that is not possible right now.
We have a locked bootloader on the atrix2 so, there is not a way to install non-stock ROMs until we can figure a way to get the bootloader unlocked. This also applies to AOSP and AOKP ROMs as well. The issue is these all require kernels to run, and you can not flash a kernel with a locked bootloader.

The ATRIX 2's bootloader is locked, therefore such roms as you've mentioned will not be 1) made for the ATRIX 2 nor 2) work on the ATRIX 2 until the bootloader is unlocked. A few simple forum searches could have shed some understanding regarding this, had you taken the time to do so. We're all getting unnecessarily frustrated seeing new locked bootloader-related and ICS/JB threads posted here when doing a little leg work to research on your own before cluttering up the forum would answer most -if not all of your questions. Please read this thread and watch the video (again) so hopefully we can manage to quell these types of things before they get out of hand more than they've already gotten: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778853

The bootloader is still locked in the ATT.en.US leaked version of ICS.

Where? You created a thread, but never put any ROM in that thread, in the dev section, plus it was for the ME865 not the MB865.
I will give you a system image, if you can actually produce the ROM and post it in the dev section. If I don not see it in there in the next week, I will hunt you down... JK... I will PM you with a link, but YOU CAN NOT share this with the world yet, we are not quite ready to support this yet.

i port miui2.3 v1.1 is based att,but because lots of my friend ask me based me865,so i changed.

Transplantation of miui V4 need not unlock bootloader.We can use official roms to make new one.Chinese official MIUI have give a course for us to
make miui V4.But it seems hard for beginner like me to make new one. HTC EVO 3D MIUI V4 is developed like this. And It is to be measured immediately.Only use five days.Here is the picture. perhaps you need Translate it with Google Translate .It is Chinese.

I found out a way to do bootstrap for ICS
Install this app, bootstrap ICS recovery, reboot ICS Recovery.

Where did this come from? Who made it? How has it been tested for our phones? Thanks for the apk, but a little more info is needed before i go willy-nilly installing a bootstrap lol.

You need to research more before posting.there are differences between the razr and the a2.this will not work properly for us.

Our Atrix 2 (not mine now - so sorry) come from many markets with little bit of hardware and software difference, so be careful to post anything here. Maybe it works well on your phone but could give a hard brick on the others.
I think people here should be patient and wait until some testing and confirmation from our trusted Devs. This is extremely time sensitive !

This is the RAZR bootstrap... and just because it boots doesn't mean its working...The current bootstrap we have boots under ICS but isn't fully functional. This is your second time posting a fix with out doing any research. If a newbie spotted this thread, they might install it thinking it works and viola they have a bricked phone. So please unless you REALLY know how to fix things and have dev experience please don't post every possible fix that MIGHT work.

And I replaced update.zip from razr with the update.zip from Atrix 2 in the apk.
So It should work for some more phones

Can we have a MOD please lock these random UN-REASEARCHED threads? hopefully it'll keep the brick rate down.

It's not you or your work. It's the fact that there have been a lot of hard bricks and we need to be extra careful about releasing anything for the ics leak. It needs to be tested by more than one person. It might work for you but not someone else. We are all being cautious, that's all.

I locked to stop with the arguments but I will leave the links. As always if you brick your device its no ones fault except your own. We all choose to mod our phones with the risks it posses. If he says it work I'm not inclined to say it doesn't. But devices vary by build and region so to everyone be careful.

I would say no.. They (moto) want more ppl to buy RAZR.. And att long ago eol'd this phone in US.. Its all politics and marketing.. The only reason that leak came out was because a2 seems quite popular in China and some guys are close to(relatives?) high level executives.. That's why it got leaked.

By leak came from cheesecake, if you are talking about the jb fxz files that Wang posted, then no it cannot be from cheesecake.. you can only get update zip from cheesecake as far as I know.. but the leak that was posted were fxz files.

This is entirely tangential, but is it possible to create an fxz from a working phone? Something like imagex/dism for Windows? How does Moto put the fxz file together?
I'm interested in any and all development links, searching the forums for info on fxz mainly only turned up walkthroughs for how to apply them...

To the best of my knowledge, You build fxz images from source code.. When you compile, you can give option to what format the output will be..
