For users who purchased the extended battery (2200mah), how much bigger (physical size) is it then the 1500mah default battery?
2200 mAh is actually a fairly nice battery. My Droid X extended battery is only 1930 mAh but i get ~13-17 hours of battery life and the X has a huge LCD display. I could only imagine what the Fascinate would get with that big a battery and Super AMOLED haha.
The word according to a bunch of tests is the Droid X has the best battery life, about 3 hours than the SGS line on a single charge. On average with my Epic I'm getting about 12 hours without recharge, so a 2200 mAh battery should go roughly 18 hours. Again, mileage will vary from user to user. I do what I would consider is around heavy usage.
Just traded Droid X in for Fascinate and had the extended battery for the X. They gave me the extended battery as an even exchange for the SGS and I am seriously considering returning the thing. It is Ginormous and makes the phone look disgusting. The X's extended battery at least kept the phone looking good.
i'm very curious about the extended battery and the cover that comes with it. could you post a pic of the phone with them installed, plz?
The thing is huge.

Hmmmm makes he think twice about it now... I can't go twelve hours on standby without the phone going completely dead. The battery life I'm getting is the worst ever. How can it die so fast when its not being used at all?

i get 12-14 hrs without dropping down to 1/2 battery with calls paired w/bluetooth headset ,web, texting, emails, twitter, and beautiful widgets all running !! this is one of the best batteries on a android phone ive had so far !! right up there with my droidx !!
I gotta say it a great battery but I must decide what is more important to me longer battery or a case with belt clip hmmmm.

I'd rather carry an extra stock battery, then deal with that.
With the extended battery in.... It looks like the phone is pregnant, lol.

It is obviously a good battery, but the thing looks hideous. it does look pregnant!
what are the chances someone makes a better looking one

Not sure what's up with yours, but mine gets fantastic battery life. Full charge at 8am and I go a day and a half with moderate-to-heavy call/text/game/web use. I'm extremely impressed with the battery life. My girlfriend hardly uses her's except for web browsing on lunch, and she almost squeezes 3 days out of it!

Hey guys I just upgraded to the extended battery and was wondering the best way to properly break in and how long to charge for the first time, any help would be appreciated thanks

The best way I've seen, in my experience, to "train" a battery is to use it until it dies and then leave it charging overnight.
Yeah I would just let the battery do a couple charge and discharges

No need to do that with lithium batteries, they have no memory. This practice is from the old days of nickel cadmium batteries.

That may be true of the battery but is not for the phone.
Li battery's don't have a liner discharge and each battery has a different personalty lot to lot.
The phone learns the curve of the battery through discharge, so letting it discharge completely once or twice helps the phone more accurately display how much battery is left.
Oh okay guys, thanks fyi this battery is a huge improvement, I def recommend it, I actually used my phone quite a bit and from all day use only used 27 percent of battery and had data on, normally with barely any use id lose around 60 percent if not more with data off.. def like my thunderbolt again
edit: I'm on 3g only so I don't know how battery life would improve on 4g..

just to warn you.. i dont know what rom you are using, but keep an eye on the battery gauge while you are actually using the phone and make sure it's not 'sticking'.. i was running froyo bamfs on my extended and my percentage wouldn't properly update and i would have to restart it to update it or it would jsut randomly show up after a while... anywho i ended up going to GB and back to the stock battery, i hate how f***ing big that stupid thing is... its like holding a house phone.
You should probably clear battery stats and run a battery calibration app so it doesn't stick
Drive it like ya stole it!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yeah I always calibrate with every new rom install, but went ahead and did it on the new battery once I was at 100, the battery isn't so bad once you get used to it, the case can have a big difference on the feel of extended battery.
Mostly I love the fact I can use the phone to the fullest and not have to sacrifice anything and still have 70 percent at the end of the night

Has anyone found an extended battery our better battery for this phone? It seems using gps and web for 15 mins eats almost 40% of the battery. I'm afraid to leave home with out my charger now, as dumb as it sounds. And this is with screen brightness at zero, juice defender ultimate, and various other battery saving things. Already did a BBS but it seems the battery just sucks
if you're using GPS the battery is going to drain. Though 40% sounds steep that is why I have a car charger. And honestly some of those battery saving apps only make it worse...don't overdo it with those.
As far as your question it has already been asked...no need to ask again.

40% in 15 mins? Impossible. If so, your battery is defective. The galaxy nexus GSM battery I read works on this phone, try that.

Your friend charged it for you in secret
Sorry, the battery is good but that not that good. Something a little fishy here.
You definitely charged the phone at some point for it to jump up like that.
You do know that if you plug it into a computer, it charges that way too, right?
9.5 hours on screen time is even better than the Razr Maxx gets with mobile data shut off. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

Nooo... That just means the battery is low. The charging is taking place where the little green bar is under the graph. (ie. Under the 5 in 54)

Me too for battery life. I have been sitting here all day long texting about a Soccer game in England, then through the first games of the NFL today and through the majority of the game I was watching as a second game. I have probably sent near 400 texts today... send/recieve... and I'm still at 41%
Battery life is horrible with this phone... I had to purchase an extended battery and even with it I sometimes cannot make it through a full day. I sometimes regret selling my Razr Maxx... :crying:

I consistently get 14 hours battery time with 2 hours of screen time. I run synergy r73 with ktoons kernel on the ktoon conservative governor. I do nothing to enhance battery life like tweaking data, Bluetooth, and WiFi. My screen is always on auto, and get several emails a day, texts, and phone calls.
I am very happy with my battery life.

Blasphemy
I came from the Maxx myself and my SG3 is hands down better than the Maxx... except for battery life
I have no issue getting a full day of use on the battery which is truly the important inflection point for me... I charge every night anyhow.
Personally I'm very happy with the Battery Life I've been getting. I'm rooted but I'm running stock everything.
Probably not very impressive compared to what other people may be getting but I am most happy with it. Still carry a spare with me in my man bag just in case but never had to use it yet.

I guess I am just a heavy user... I stream radio sometimes play my tunes from Amzon Mp3 app local though not cloud, I check my emails just basic stuff, I DO NOT play games nor do I watch movies. The only videos I watch are from news apps and my Maxx blew this out of the water. Now the experiance this phone has the Maxx beat hands down but still the batt stinks...
Is this thread serious? Clearly that device was charged three times in that screen shot. Your not fooling anyone.
Your phones been charged twice
Gs3
coming from a Droid 3, which had horrendous battery life, I love my SG3.
and yes he charged his phone twice

Had my baby for a little over a year and a half, been nothing but a great phone in that time. This is where the problem starts... I'll be using it like normal, texting and surfing, and will have 98% battery, the phone will shut down, and when it decides to start back up, I will have 14% battery or less.... But it will go up if I leave it alone..... I've tried wiping the battery stats, even charging with the phone off, nothing is working. I will attach screenshots so you can see what's up.

Your battery is bad. Same thing happened to me, I recommend just buying a new OEM battery from a reputable dealer on Amazon, that's what I did. Try setting it down on a table and push on one side and if it rocks back and forth its bad. Or you can just look at it and see its swollen
Mine did that and it was just a bad battery. If you take the battery out and place it on a flat surface you may notice that it rocks left and right. If it rocks a lot or if you feel the middle and it feels swollen it may be symptoms of a bad battery.

Same thing has been happening to me for the past two days. I just took out my battery and sure enough it is swollen. Thanks for input!
edit: Is it dangerous to keep using it like this for the next few days until the new battery comes in?

It is dangerous because battery acid can get on you and cause sever skin irritation. You can continue like this for 1 to 2 days MAX until you get your new battery. Try not to use it because using it more will cause it to swell more, DUH try to only use it for emergencies and then once you get the new battery clean the terminals and you'll be good to go
I used mine got a while like that because i didn't know it was the battery lol

I'm curious about charging habits of the people who have bad batteries. I have had my phone since the day it came out and my battery is still fine. I never let it get below 30% unless I'm testing a new ROM. Killing lithium ion batteries is really bad for them. So how many of you drain it all the way on a regular basis?
I'm still using my old vibrant battery (at times). I don't think that it's as strong as the spare that I purchased a few months ago, but, is on par with the 18 month old battery that came with the phone. I zap them all the way down a lot of the time (then swap to a fully charged one). I do(try) to recharge to full before use though.
Mine does it but only when I'm using wifi or data could that still be a bad battery

I run mine down to 1 percent on a daily basis. Never let it die though. I was under the impression that if you let it drain to zero you're asking for trouble. I could easily change my ways though.

Hechoen.......I use mine till under 10% or so and then full charge it. Been doing that over a year now. My wife however plugs hers in off and on throughout the day without letting it full charge all at once and she has a bad battery....

Shallow discharge cycles are generally accepted to be better for Li-ion batteries than deep ones.

That is probably a bad idea. I would try to plug it in around 15-20% with 20% being the best time. According to the batteryuniversity website 20-80% is ideal for li-ion batteries because it keeps the heat down. Charging from less than 15% creates heat because that is a low level and takes a bit longer to charge from therefore exposes the battery to more heat. A good charger and battery will shut off the charger once it hits 100% and only allow for a trickle charge if the battery drops below 100%. But I have seen my phone get hotter from about 85% to 100% if Im using it ie: plugged in and streaming music or using navigation.
